I recently learned of Homeboy Industries and their mission when a friend of mine let me borrow the book Tattoos on the Heart. So I wanted to help out in some small way. I ordered the book Barking to the Choir and a tee shirt. Both came quickly. The tee shirt is very well made and I love it! I am reading the book now and am loving it so much. I can't wait to turn the next page. I will most definitely purchase Tattos on the Heart and other merchandise in the future. Good job guys!!

About Homeboy industries

Homeboy Industries: The Largest Gang Rehabilitation and Re-entry Program in the World

Homeboy Industries is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1988 by Father Gregory Boyle, a Jesuit priest. It is based in Los Angeles, California, and it is the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. Homeboy Industries provides a wide range of services to help former gang members and at-risk youth turn their lives around.

The mission of Homeboy Industries is to provide hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women so they can redirect their lives and become contributing members of society. The organization offers an array of programs that address the complex needs of individuals who have been involved with gangs or have been incarcerated.

One of the most important aspects of Homeboy Industries' work is its job training program. Through this program, participants are able to gain valuable skills that will help them find employment once they leave the organization. The job training program includes classes on computer skills, customer service, culinary arts, screen printing, solar panel installation, among others.

In addition to job training programs for adults who are looking for work after leaving prison or gangs behind them; Homeboy also has several youth programs aimed at helping young people avoid getting involved with gangs altogether. These include mentoring programs for at-risk youth as well as educational opportunities such as tutoring services.

Another key component of Homeboy's work is mental health counseling services which are available free-of-charge to all participants. This service helps individuals deal with trauma-related issues such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which often result from being involved with gangs or having spent time in prison.

Homeboy also provides legal assistance through its Legal Services Department which helps participants navigate legal issues related to their past involvement with gangs or incarceration history; this includes expungement assistance where possible so that individuals can move forward without any criminal record holding them back from future opportunities.

The success rate for those who participate in Homeboys' programs speaks volumes about how effective it has been over time - more than 10k people have graduated from its various courses since inception! Many graduates go on not only find jobs but also start businesses themselves - some even return back home communities where they grew up originally - becoming role models for others still struggling within these same environments today!

In conclusion:

Homeboys' mission statement says it all: "Nothing stops a bullet like a job." By providing education & employment opportunities along with mental health counseling & legal aid; this non-profit organization has helped thousands upon thousands turn their lives around over decades now! If you're looking for ways you can make an impact on your community too then consider supporting organizations like these whose efforts truly do change lives every day!
