Words cannot express what this beautiful organization has done to help my family. These people nurses therapists general staff and doctors have gone over and beyond to help care for my mom and family. I am overwhelmed that there could be people on this Earth so giving and caring without anything in return to give the best care I have ever experienced. Thank u hospuce

We really wanted my dad to go to hospice. They came to evaluate him on a Saturday and said they couldn't take him, because they were sure he was going to live more than 3 days. Which I don't understand to begin with, because I've seen people stay over a month in this same hospice. Anyways, my dad died that Monday. So much for more than 3 days.

HPH provided a bed for my father at his home. The first night in it he fell out of it and died the next day! He never fell out of his own bed. Soon after I was evaluated by HPH and they told me I had 6 months to live. 3 months later they told me on a Monday all my care would end on Wednesday! They said I no longer qualified for care because my condition was not getting worse . 2 days notice!!!! They provided no more nurse care, aids, medicine, and they took all my medical equipment and left me scrambling to find care on my own. The nurse aid they provided me discussed things with my brother and I never authorized her to do so. Horrible Company!!!!

It has taken me some time to write this review to give HPH Hospice a chance to address the letters my mother has written to them about our encounter with HPH Hospice. My fathers wishes was to pass at home vs being in the facility. The Dr that came out is a very kind and caring man. However, the nurse that came out to pronounce my fathers passing was extremely unprofessional. While I fully understand my fathers passing was two weeks before Christmas and I am sure HPH Hospice was short staffed. But to me this does not excuse her behavior. when she got their and went to my fathers room she slumped over his bed to sync up her phone and laptop. Once she pronounced his passing, we asked if she would like to sit at the kitchen table where she proceeded, but then grabbed her lunch and started eating it while go back and forth to my fathers bed. She then was talking on the phone with another co-worker about another patients information. Potential HIPAA violation. Which we were advised after the second letter there would be a HIPAA training class. I truly hope this is an annual training vs just when an issue arise and trying to please my mother.
Unfortunately, some items did come up missing. Which I guess in some respects we could be some what at fault for leaving her by herself, staying out of her way while she did what she needed to do. We were in the living room consoling each other. My mother had a saying on the bathroom mirror for my father which she removed without saying anything to us. Someone was to contact us a couple of days afterwards and no one did.
The first letter my mother sent a representative from HPH Hospice called to get more details of our encounter and advised she was going to be out of the office for a couple of days. which lead to no response. after the second letter another representative advised they have addressed all the issues, which I feel they did not in the capacity they should have.
My overall experience with HPH Hospice with the exception of the Dr was a bit disappointing. I feel that we were not given the service or compassion that we should have received. The first week of April we did receive a general letter advising of bereavement classes.
So if you have HPH Hospice assist during a difficult time and they are assisting at your home. Make sure your valuables are put away and that you stay with that person at all times.

My mom was there for three days after under- going two surgeries at Oak hill hospital. She had a surgery to remove a very large section of her colon. While recuperating, the staff neglected to raise the rails on the bed. She fell out of the bed and fractured her hip. After that surgery she was sent to HPH Hospice. When I went to see her she was unresponsive and vomiting feces. The nurses did not do anything to help her. She had an IV in her hand but nothing going into her, no bag. The nurse told me it was feces then she changed her story and told me that it was parts of her lungs. I would rather die in a ditch on the side of the highway than be there.

This was the most horrible experience for our family. The Nurse Practitioner did not know what she was doing. Did not even examine our Father. I called to let Hospice know our Dad was dying taking his last breath and they said they were on their way. 20 minutes later they called to see how he was doing. I said how is he doing he died 20 minutes ago. They said it was a miscommunication. They pronounced him dead at 4:25 pm. He actually died at 3:50 pm. The social worker was a joke. The only people that knew what they were doing were the CNAs and the RN. Hopefully they learn from this. We were never contacted again.

When it is time, this is the place to request. You will not regret spending your last days/hours with your loved one here. Very quiet, large rooms and plenty of peaceful common areas. They make you, the family , as comfortable as possible, not to mention the patient. The staff is OUTSTANDING!!!!! Your loved one is in excellent hands here.
