Awesome Zoo! Good prices. A must on your to do list.
If I lived in Houston, I'd be a member for sure. Possibly the best zoo in Texas. Very clean and well-maintained, with an impressive assortment of exhibits and habitats.
The lion exhibit is very cool, with the underground lion tunnel giving visitors a close call with a few of these creatures. The zoo has an incredible assortment of giraffes and rhinos and other African beasts, plus some fantastic Asian elephants and other big creatures. The smaller animals, the birds and reptiles and such, are very cool, as well.
The foliage is also impressive and welcoming and well conceived. Near certain smelly animals, for example, they have robust plantings of rosemary, which smell amazing and mask potential unpleasantness.
I really enjoy this spot and hope Houstonians appreciate how cool this place is.
It was one of the nicer zoos I have been to. Biggest problem is their panic over covid-19.
Very clean. Beautifully maintaned walkways. The areas for the animals are open and they look very healthy. My friends and I had a great time.
Great zoo and family friendly environment altogether. Free every first Tuesday of the month, to boot! If you love being around the downtown area, there's no better place to be. The museums are nearby and if you get to the zoo early, you may be able to park for free nearby.
Family oriented place, made people conscious of the importance of recycling. A lot of fun, a lot of lights, music and much more. Highly recommended for a family activity
Incredibly educational about the animals around the world. Great place for an educational field day.
Awesome zoo, we go every visit. Our friends in Houston love it too!
The service was great, really enjoyed the part where we walked around and saw the animals. Don't recommend the summertime, cuz it's too hot.
Fun place. Big and always changing, adding new animals and sections.
The directions should be more clear. A great day to visit with kids.
An excellent zoo! Definitely worth a trip every few months
Great zoo! A nice mix of indoor and outdoor exhibits, giving you chances to beat the heat. You can get so close to animals, much closer than most zoos I ve been to. The exhibits are integrative and informative, and showcase a wide variety of large and small animals.
Also reasonably priced for entry.
My family and I always enjoy visiting the zoo, it's always a great family outing.
I love Zoo! We were there for the school trip. Staff was nice. The zoo was open even after a very havy rain. I wish they provide an area to wait untill kids arrive. But anyway it was a good experience. Spring time is good time to go. All the animals were outside.
The zoo was very well maintained and they have friendly staff. Not sure if we should be keeping animals in cages for our own entertainment/educational purposes but they do a good job in keeping the place clean so that s why I gave it 4 stars.
The new wetlands exhibit is beautiful! And now they are making another new area about South American animals. This zoo just gets better and better and better!
great zoo in houston great amount of animals and theres plenty of air condition rooms and love the new exhibit great for kids, and parents
Great way to spend the day with the family if you guys loves see and watching the animals inact within them selves. We have a special route that we have made as an family so everyone can have their chance to spend with their favor animals.
One of the best zoo's me and my family have been to. We cant wait for the Texas wetlands area opens and my son is excited for the new dinosaur exhibit. Opening may 25th.
Kids loved zoobilee. All the remodeling they are doing is great
Excellent about different insects, good aquarium, interesting about chimpanzee using tools
Parking Nightmare. I love this zoo, but some of the revenue should be used to improve parking. It took us over 30 minutes to find parking.
The whole family had a great time. The animals look very well taking care of. Bathrooms very clean. Walking path very clean. You can take water and food with you
Great zoo with great exhibits. They spend way too much money on improving exhibits instead of improving their parking situation. The lot is full by 930am and is is near impossible to get a spot within a mile of the zoo after that time.
Kids enjoy the most. Fun filled
Family day. Learn something new.
Long time member of the Houston Zoo. Was there Fathers Day 2019. Bought tickets for new dino exibit and was told I could get a package that included carousel. Got package. It started raining and carousel shut down until weather cleared. Waited for rain to stop and when it did "Heather" at the ticket booth by the carousel said lightning was in the area and that carousel would remain closed. I asked for refund and she said "no refund, just wait" then backed away from window. I asked how much longer she said "there is no time frame" then then backed away from window and sat down. I tapped on window and she refused to acknowledge my presence. Another lady in the booth wanted to help but it appeared as though "Heather" muted her Mic. I was able to get information from the other lady inside the booth that I should go to guest services in which I did. "Heather" was very rude and shouldn't be in a position where she has to interact with patrons. Very unfriendly demeanor. I frequent the Houston zoo probably 6+ times a year. First experience with poor service.
The Houston Zoo is an amazing place to spend a day. So much to see and do for the whole family. We have a great time every time we go.
Love this place but way too expensive unless you are a member
A great day at the zoo. So much to see. Great friendly staff.
We found a random chicken roaming around the bird trails. Lol
It gets better every year. I've been coming here since 1990 and it never gets old. It's always under construction though it seems.
One of the best zoo I have seen in a while .this is 4th time i visited . Lots of upgrades from last visit . Added lots of new birds , elephant habitat is now incredible. One of the best place to spend your day , especially with kids. Will definitely visit again and recommend to others .
Very reasonably priced and an excellent day out, especially for families. The zoo has a petting zoo, as well as numerous interactive exhibits for adults and children! There are a number of walk through areas such as monkey enclosures and reptile areas.
Some areas become extremely crowded, especially indoor areas, as most customers ignore the "no buggy" requests.
This is an amazing place. So many beautiful animals that are well cared for. Gardening and layouts create a pleasant atmosphere on a sunny day. As a UH student I get in for free.
I will say, though, that the prices for non-students are a bit ridiculous. A family of four will have to spend about $70 to visit. They have some free days but still. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.
We visited during the zoo lights event that takes place over the holidays. It was an awesome experience.
Took my niece here a couple of weeks ago, I'd never actually been to the zoo here in Houston before. It was great! I may have enjoyed it more than my niece. Parking was tough, but otherwise a fantastic experience.
The social distance was very creative it felt like an African Forest walk
Family premium membership was awesome. Member can add total of 3 people and each can take up to 10 people with them. Quick entry for members is another great advantage of the membership!
Kids love going to the zoo. It's a wonderful place to spend the day with your family. Many amazing animals to learn about.
The Houston zoo is beautiful and much like the city, a sprawling maze of exotic animal habitats. The zoo has a wonderful variety of animals and provides excellent levels of care and truly high quality habitats for their animals. All of the critters have ample room for their health and happiness, and there is no overcrowding in any of the exhibits. The zoo also provides sponsored trips for humanitarian work all over the world and puts allot of money into helping the animals of the wild.
Had a blast. Very educational. Going on spring break means long lines and crowds, but the Houston Zoo can handle all of it.
What a great zoo.. and just as we were leaving the lion got up and roared, wish I can post the video
2019 January zoo lights from Groupon !! Balling on a Budget !!! I got to see some big ole rhinos and great light themes. Can wait to have some kiddos to bring them here!!!
We had a wonderful time at the Houston Zoo.We saw amazing animals ,but the restrooms weren t super clean and the gift shop had great service. The fountain outside of the zoo is wonderful and the train and peddle boats were amazing! We had so much fun!Over all it was a pretty good day at the zoo.
Love this place! Able to rent a two seater stroller made my life so much easier handling all the snacks and water for the two kids
The best zoo!! The weather was amazing! My daughter loved it!
Simply a wonderful place. It is home to many well-cared for animals and educated workers. The cafe serves good food as well.
The Houston Zoo has changed a great deal. The great ape exhibit is awesome!
Good experience, very clean, decent food options. Too many off limit attractions, a lot was under construction, probably due to hurricane Harvey, so they get a pass this time.
I been going here since I was a little girl and I enjoy taking my children. They act like it's the first time everytime we go . It's a pleasure to walk around the zoo and the staff is always helpful. My son loves the new elephant area. The splash pad is nice for the kids on the hot days so make sure you pack swimwear for the kiddos. It's kept nice and clean. Also if you are on snap food just take your card up to the window and get a discount. You can also take your own coolers ,food and drinks which helps save money when you have a big family. The food stands can be a bit pricey. Oh and I can't wait till they add the new area .
We have a membership, thats because we love it! The kids are animal fanatics!
Perfect family fun while learning about the world around us!
Love the zoo ,restrooms are always smelly..like as bad as walking past the elephants lol. Everything is of course over priced.. And I think things should be sanitized more due to all the children and people. Other than that it was fun. I'm a member, members get to skip the lines and get discounts /other cool features
Fabulous zoo, so many animals. Having a massive refurbishment at the moment but looking great
Love the zoo! Can't wait for the new exhibit to be finished. I recommend always supporting your local zoo. They help support our wildlife and conservation.
Very nice experience, even with the limited opening due to the pandemic. Glad they are open, enjoyed a summer afternoon here. Limited entry means not crowded!
I liked the Houston Zoo, but was expecting a little more. The animals were up and active when I went, which was great. The layout I found to be bad and I had a hard time finding certain animals. The map they give you could be better. I've been to many great zoos so my opinion is biased.
Awesome place to bring the kids. They love the acuarium and the Lions.
Family friendly, pricey stroller or wheelchair rentals, fun activities, renovating on a regular basis, overall fun place to go.
Nice urban zoo in Downtown Houston. Every time I come they seem to be expanding which is great.
Other than being rainy some of the exhibits were closed. I really wanted to check out the fish and reptiles. The bird section was closed for remodel.
Very large Zoo and the Texas Wetlands exhibit should be really good
I love the changes and the expanded areas if ya'll haven't visited the zoo lately you need to it great
They have changed lot of things and it looks great. A lot of construction is still going on but there is plenty to see. We had a great time.
Came to visit the Houston Zoo on an overcast and damp day. There was hardly anybody here! Except for Mr Pelican, he always keeps an eye out.
Such a great variety of animals that are easy to view.
I just love this place .. Animal lover specially giraffe's lover must visit this place in Houston.
It was a very nice beautiful zoo. Our first time visiting their. We enjoyed our day very pleasant.
