Definitely ones of the best places to visit in Houston!!! If you come here or if you live here, you need to visit the Zoo!!! Has so many different attractions inside, it s a huge place so get ready with your confortable clothes and tennis shoes because because is three hours walk, but really worth it!!! So enjoy your visit!!!

I don't know how the reviewer below missed all the water fountains. They're literally everywhere. Right off the top of my head, there's one near the hoofed animals, outside the snake building, near the food center, tropical bird house, and komodo dragon. They are clearly marked on the maps as well. There's also misters and a splash pad. I think someone just had a bad day below. He also criticized the dinosaur exhibit. That's a temporary traveling exhibit.

We love the Houston Zoo, the family membership pays for itself after a couple of visits. After the San Diego zoo system, this is my favorite one to visit. Educational, well thought out and well shaded with air conditioned indoor exhibits for those blazing summer days. Lots of interactive fun for the kids too! The African Forest is a must! Go first thing in the morning when the animals are most active. If you're lucky you can hear the kookaburra sing!

Elder son: Loves the bug and the snake house!
Younger son: Loves the aquarium and watching the piranhas at feeding time! It's as frenzied as you'd imagine.

Super expensive it was never this high when i used to go few years back they need to make it more affordable that way families can go and enjoy it and can really have fun. The only good part is you can bring ya own food it so its not that bad. The best thing to do is get a zoo membership if you really wanna go here alot and have a nice time

Too darn hot!! Dont go in the summer months. Good zoo just too hot. Although the giraffes you can feed now. We were with a bunch of other people that had tickets to feed them, we had gone to the restroom and were gonna meet them in the area when they got through feeding and thrre was 2 really bad attitude guys that wouldn't let us go anywhere around them even though our people had got back there with only 2 tickets for 9 people they would not let us get anywhere near them. Mind you we were not trying to get anything by on these 2 guys. They were just plain hateful. The zoo needs all the help it can get and hiring smart butt people puts a really bad taste in your mouth . There are other zoos that can get our money and business. So for this reason they get a bad score. Just plain no need in the staff having bad attitudes with the patrons.

Beautiful scenery, wonderful well kept animals, friendly staff. Got lost looking for the right exit due to construction but discovered more about the zoo getting lost. Such a beautiful place to go and just enjoy the day with your family or friends.

It's really improved over the years, clean well layed out, has a lot to do and look at but way over priced. A 2 1/2 year old with us and he was charged full price. $15 to rent a wagon. I recommend bringing your own, wagon and snacks. It cost me over $100 to take my wife and 2 year old grandson. The only way it's worth it is the buy the yearly pass and go a few times to get your money's worth.

Great place to take kids, or have a nice date. Plenty of vendors and cafes to keep you entertained. The 'feed the giraffes' is very popular given that you get to feed a giraffe. Overall a great place to visit and enjoy

The Zoo itself was awesome. The restaurant on the other hand was horrible. The burger was clearly frozen and inedible and the $10 kid meal was a smuckers uncrustable pb&j sandwich which was microwaved. Everything else met expectation.

I was raised visiting the Houston Zoo and now my daughter has visited the Houston Zoo since she was a baby. The Zoo staff are very knowledgeable. They care about conservation and saving animal in the wild. We love seeing all of the animal families, we can go every day and have a different experience each visit. We appreciate the Zookeepers and all of the Zoo Staff because they take very good care of the animals and the beautiful Zoo grounds.

Houston has an amazing zoo! I m not thrilled about the parking but it s worth the money. This is a full day event with plenty of restaurants! Children will love touching some of the animals feeding animals such as the giraffe or just observing them!

Very expensive but the zoo is well kept, and customer service is good. The lines to get in can get pretty long. They only had one person scanning tickets when we went during Spring Break. Food was good but again, very pricey.

Was expecting something incredible. It was okay, not what I expected from the zoo that is #2 in the USA for number of visit. More than some exhibits closed or without creatures and no signage. Map for zoo, difficult to follow. Aquatics, nothing special. Maybe it is just the time of year or time of day. Will try again. Was there for over 4 hours, saw it all or what there was to see. Do appreciate places to refill your own water bottles.

The Houston zoo has so much to offer everyone. Their new exhibits are really great and they have a lot of shade and some air conditioned places to get out of the heat. I wish they offered residents a discount, but thankfully their membership pricing isn't too bad and pays for itself within a couple visits!

Wonderful side trip after an appointment in the med center. Zoo was clean and the animals are awesome. They offer a military discount making it a little more affordable too. I would suggest taking your own food because theirs is pricey and remember that this is Texas. People were falling out from the heat but there are plenty of cool zones so use them.

Great place for kids. Prepare to walk. Many tropical birds. Downtown Houston. Lots if traffic. Google maps has the wrong entrance to the zoo. Sends you around in circles. The actual entrance street is between the golf course and the zoo. Turn on to Hermann Park Drive. Google maps takes the shortest route, not always the right answer. Buy tickets on line and save big. Two seniors was $46, saved $10.

We had a wonderful experience at the zoo. The only reason why I rated them as a 4 is because they have a no conceal carry (30.06) sign. I am ultimately responsible for the safety and security of my family, not security or police.

We love the zoo. We buy the membership just so we can go whenever we want with our kids. I would suggest getting there close to when they open the gates. This way you are not fighting for a parking spot. I could take up to an hour to find a parking spot sometimes, so be prepared! We always pack our own lunches, and there are plenty of areas to sit down and eat. They also have a food court area, but keep in mind that it is pricey. They are always adding and upgrading to the zoo. They just finished their Bear exhibit not very long ago, and they're also putting in a wetlands exhibit with new animals being added to the zoo. Would recommend, and definitely recommend getting the membership if you plan on coming back more than once or twice.

This was a great time! 3 adults and 1 kid about 2 years old. Never knew there were so many monkeys! So cool. Plus lions tigers and bears.... . We have a local zoo that we go to out of state and this one was a great upgrade!

The Houston Zoo is absolutely amazing! The staff are so very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, I plan on making many many fabulous family memories here!! As a single Momma, there is truly nothing more exciting than having the opportunity to enjoy quality time with my little guy and the Houston Zoo has brought this to life, time and time again

Thank you to the Houston Zoo and every single fantastic staff member on site!!

The Houston zoo is awesome! Get there early before it gets too crowded. The animals were mostly awake and active. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking was easy. I love that part of Houston because there is so much to do.

We love the Houston Zoo. We go a couple time a year. They are not open fully yet. And you have to buy your tickets online to reserve a time. So there are some exhibits that are not open. We still had a great experience. AND WE GOT TO SEE NELSON!!! He's the newest elephant and is absolutely adorable.

Always excited to come to the zoo. Although I leave depressed because the animals have a depressed vibe going on. The animals have no room to even imitate their home. The poor cougar was literally walking in circles.. They show that they are unhappy. Instead of building the wetlands they should expand the animals living spaces. Plus is didn't see any zebras.... And make sure you grab a map at the door. They don't have anymore maps through out the zoo so if you don't grab one at the door u will be lost!

The zoo is one of my favorite places to go in Houston. They have a great variety of animals who you can tell are happy and well taken care of. I love spending a day here walking around and seeing the beautiful landscapes and animals. My favorite animal to see is the Okapi! Also who doesn't love elephants and giraffes?

Went early, no trouble with parking. Zoo was just the right size, not small but not tiring to walk through. Military discount was generous. I will say that some of the bugs on display are too high for shorter people to see. Missed out on a few insects. Wish the bears came out, loved the elephants but overall, good experience.

Kids enjoy the zoo a lot. They have some pretty cool exhibits. Bring a water bottle. They have bottle filling stations throughout the zoo. Also, if you come on a particularly hot day look for the"Chill Zone" signs to find relief from the heat. They will direct you to air conditioned buildings to cool off in.

Great zoo! We did spend about 45 minutes looking for a parking spot on a Saturday. This is definitely a place where you'll want to make sure you have the whole day to explore. We were there for 4.5 hours and still didn't get to see everything.

Lights were nice but we expected to see a few animals out. Very expensive just to see lights. But they did manage to have all the gift shops open to take a little more money from some that felt the need to spend.

The Houston zoo is fun for the family, the park can be easily seen in a couple hours. The front of the park is under construction so it is a little congested. The only reason I give it a 4 and not a 5 is because parking has and always will be a nightmare.

Probably one of the best zoos I have been to. Unfortunately most of the exhibits are closed right now due to Covid-19. That s totally understandable; however, I wish they would have let us know that ahead of time before we paid full price to see less than half of the zoo. I do think we will go back because it was beautiful, but it s going to be a while because I am not wasting my money to barely see anything.

Always a delight to see the numerous animals! Giraffes are a big hit with the kiddos. Also checkout the primate exhibits, if they are hanging out near the observation area you might be able to interact a bit.

Love the zoo and their contribution to wildlife conservation efforts worldwide. The only gripe I have is that the parking space always (not exaggerating) gets full on a nice day. It's been going on for years, I wish they could do something about a couple multilevel garages perhaps.
