The zoo during late March means a lot of animals are not currently out but I mean it was fine. Mind you expect to spend about $60 for one person. But it is a good place to take the place for them.

Good zoo, I have been to a few. Memorial day weekend was really crowded but this place can handle it. Lots of trees provide welcome shade. Several areas blocked off for renovation so that is a minus. The baby elephant was the best. Bring your own cooler!! YAY!

One of nicest zoos I have ever visited. The landscape is lush and as nice as the animals. So much to see. Get a membership, it a great value and supports not only the zoo but wildlife conservation.

I love this zoo! It is definitely one of the best. Beautiful habitats, gorgeous and well maintained landscaping. The animals are healthy and well cared for and there is a great variety of animals. Be sure to check for events going on at the zoo when you plan your trip, they have lots of cool programs.

I always love going to the Houston zoo! We went every week it feels with the membership. Must go if visiting for sure! It sure makes for an all day activity. Be prepared. Get a map. Better to go In cooler weather. We park across the street on busy days. When it isn t so busy you can find a parking spot easily. Take the time and I love the shows! Especially the seals!

I absolutely adore coming here. I love hanging out in the bird area to look and adore their beautiful angels they got there. So much to see and they truly care for their animals. The employees are so nice and will go the extra mile to get you what you need. I look forward to the new exhibition they have built for the Bald Eagles and the other animal babies. If you want to see more and go out to relax' giant, eventful Hermann Park is right along connected!

If you're going on the weekend plan to spend 30 min finding a parking spot. We parked on Ben tub parking lot by mistake. Zoo is currently under construction so some parts are confusing to navigate. During the holiday season things are much more fun at zoo boo and ect

The zoo was very nice. The kids had a wonderful time. The kids splash pad was an awesome way to cool off. My only concern is that some of the animals are enclosed in very small spaces. We encountered some of them just pacing back and forth.

Well cared for Animals! A place where you can go see exotic animals up close yet not in the wild where they would be a danger to you. You get to go study them and see what they are like in their great Majesty. The Houston Zoo is huge get out there take a walk enjoy your day. No better place to do it than the Houston Zoo a must-visit. Great food great drinks great time! Stop by and enjoy all the amenities. For me and my family it is always a must stop. The money you spend on the ticket helps care for the animals so please stop by as often as you can as it is expensive to take care of wild animals who need their care.

The zoo is really nice and kept clean, very organized and friendly staff! It s good to see how they have fans for the animals considering how hot it is in Texas! There is plenty of shade and indoor exhibits under a.c which is great. The only bad thing that I would have to say is, I love animals, and it is very heart breaking to see SOME of the big animals with not enough space, sleeping all day or pacing up and down bored out of their minds. In the wild some of these animals are used to walking/running many miles a day hunting or etc. I wished they would atleast have more room, and I hope that there is activities behind doors for these animals to help them stay sharp, happy, active and prevent them from falling into depression. Animals are human beings too, they have feelings and they shouldn t feel like they are imprisoned, if that is the case just set them free!!

I love zoo's alot and everywhere I go I go to the zoo. I love animals and seeing how their habitats are recreated in zoo's. At the Houston Zoo the habitats are amazing the animals probably believe their in the wild lol. All the animals were super happy and healthy and it was soooo much fun. I can't wait to go again.

Wow, a long walk thru a variety of rooms, themed differently to keep everyone's attention as they meander along the path. Pay attention to bathroom locations as they are widely spaced apart.
Parking... Well good luck, there are a variety of options for small cars. Bigger cars will drive around a little more.
The experience is Well worth the time to find that parking space.

The Houston zoo is definitely one of the better zoos in the country. They have (as most big city's) been doing construction since I moved here a decade ago. The construction projects always seem to be for the better, the zoo has good flow and almost always showcases the animals they house. I would say that weekdays are the gem time. Not too busy. The months of December to March have some of the best visit weather. Gluten free food is available and the restrooms are pristine.
My only critique would be that it is easy to get turned around, while you always can see a sign pointing you to another animal exhibit, the front or the back of the zoo, or which direction you are sometimes a little difficult to determine without map or app.

The Houston Zoo has gradually improved over the past 15 years and I believe that the Houston Zoo in 2019 is truly a first class zoo and should be recognized as such. The animals and cages are basically clean all the time and the animals always seem happy unless a person is upsetting them. The facilities at the zoo are always very clean as well and the employees are friendly and willing to answer questions. Overall if you live in Houston or are stopping in Houston, it is definitely a place to go!

We enjoy going to the Houston Zoo. I feel that the animals are well taken care of and the cages are always clean when I have gone and end up visiting the zoo about once a year. Also the aquarium is fantastic. The price for the zoo is very fair because the animals are taken care of well by the staff.

I love The Houston Zoo. Very well maintained and the animals seem Happy in there homes that have been beautifully made for them. I really enjoy the Bird Exhibit inside, its breath taking. I really like being able to walk among the birds. My daughter loves the Otters and Elephants, personally look forward to seeing the new Elephant Area that is being built. The Childrens area is also a lot of fun specially when it Hot outside and you need to cool off you can. Love all the Information they provide and really dig feeding the Giraffes, and watching the Sea Lions. The Houston Zoo will always be my favorite Zoo to Visit.

The zoo is simply awesome. One can go really close to the animals. Even brush or feed some. The place is really big and they have a wide array of animals. The animals are active especially the cute little baby elephants.
The birds, the landscape everything is simply beautiful. I loved the little tunnels where in the kids can crawl in and see the fishes. The keepers are really friendly and helpful too. I even got to brush the sheep. Restrooms are really neat and the entire place is clean and tidy.
Undeniably one of the best zoo's.

We enjoyed seeing all the animals and attractions, but most of the animals were sleeping or hard to see, mainly because of the heat, they were hiding in the shade and I don't blame them. But all the prices were really high for everything, a drink for $7, and as hot as it was, we had plenty of drinks. We were happy that they had a splash pad for the kids though

My wife and I have been here multiple times before with our son and as children ourselves. This place never gets old, sure it can be redundant but they do mix it up a bit every now and again, always adding new additions to make the park that much better. Our son had his Kidergarten field trip here and it was awesome, he enjoyed himself along with all the animals and the smells that came with them!! The bathrooms were actually very well kept and clean. I chaperoned so I attended various restrooms around the park, so I got the full picture. Cannot wait until he asks to come back!

The zoo is a fun place, but my last visit was very disappointing! For Christmas I asked my granddaughter if she wanted to go with me and my great grandson (her son) to see the Christmas lights. First of all it was way too expensive. He is 2 ..and they charged $22/per person, including him. I then had to pay $10 to rent a stroller... ..and to TOP it off, the entire Zoo was not lit up!!! I was extremely disappointed, because the advertisement was deceptive to me. They made it seem like the entire Zoo would be lit up in Christmas lights! It was also very cold that night and we could have done something else!!!

We enjoyed the zoo. There was a lot under construction. We were there for several hours, but we did not see everything, so there is a reason to go back. The new exhibit opens Summer 2020, so we will certainly be back to see that. I would like to see the zoo in its full glory with fountains and all. The other pictures make it look very nice.

First Annual Houston Zoo Brew Lights left much to be desired. $45 dollars got me lame lights and 2 Michelobe Ultras (of course, after waiting 45 minutes they ran out of Saint Arnold's as we were next in line). This is an event not worth repeating.

We always have a great time at the Houston zoo. Bring plenty of water. We always have better luck seeing the animals if we get there early in the day. Our toddler loves visiting the zoo, seeing the animals and riding the carousel. There s plenty of shade to get out of the sun, but if it s really hot we bring a handheld fan. The parking can be difficult if you go on a busy day. They also have a nursing area (the first aid center) if you are a nursing mom. It s a nice spot to get out of the heat to nurse. Just ask the front ticket people for access.

I thought the san antonio zoo was great but WOW this zoo was amazing. They have all the animals grouped up and in different sections so it's so easy to find what you want to see. The botanical life is great and helps keep the stinky animal smell to a minimum. Want to make another trip back to Houston just for the zoo

Great place to take the kids, employees were super nice despite us literally being the last ones out of there and the kids needing to use the restroom lol.. we were grateful for their patience

The Houston Zoo is bigger and better than ever. I had not been a quite awhile. There are some things I remember from 20 years ago but there are also a lot of improvements. You must take the kids. It is worth the admission fees and more. Great Place. Lots of animals. Lots to see. Lots to tire the kids out.

I have visited the zoo several times but this time, my son enjoyed it more than the previous times... he is almost 7 and had a great time.
The Zoo is always clean and the crew always attentive and courteous.
Planning a next visit when temperatures are a little bit less hot and humid, but hey! This is Houston and 90% of the time is hot and humid here.

We love the zoo unfortunately right now it is going through a lot of construction however the construction is not unbearable. You want to save it. The one she needed in the park you can also bring an ice chest and if you want as well. If you want to make a full day of it check to see if there are any performances at the Miller Outdoor Theater next door
