We love zoos. Been to alot of them and this zoo and the Kansas City zoo are my favorite. Always clean, well landscaped and designed. The refurbs and new additions are premium. Can't wait for the Wetlands to be completed!

I am never disappointed taking my toddlers to the zoo. The planned renovations are exciting but do not detract from current visits, it s always been very clean and tidy, and the free Tuesday afternoons each month allow us to come far more often than I did as a child. A wonderful place to bring the family and see some beautiful animals!

The lines move pretty slow on a busy day. My suggestion is to buy and print your own tickets from him and bypass the line to buy your ticket altogether. Take your own ice chest with water and snacks because you are allowed to eat outside the park I think- we did anyway. Take cash.

Really great place to take the family. Kids loved it, but either get a good game plan in place before you go (ie. "We're gonna check out the lions, see the monkeys, eat and then go.") or you'll be a bit overwhelmed by the size of the place and the options. This just means you'll want to go more than once - which is a good thing.

We loved our day at the zoo! The Houston zoo has so much to offer for kids of all ages and abilities. We are sad that we missed our chance to feed the giraffes, but we will do it next time. We enjoyed the traveling dinosaur exhibit and can t wait to see the next exhibit that comes in. We had so much fun we became members so we can come back again and again.

Super family friendly zoo. My favorite attraction was the lions and tigers. They have it set up so that you can see the big cats really close up. The elephant exhibit is also awesome. If you go at 10am, you can watch the zookeepers bathe the elephants. We at the cafe and it was surprisingly good for zoo food. Definitely a zoo I want to go to again!

Lights are great entertainment for the children. They have a talking zebra named Candy....children were really into conversation with her. Christmas music it's great. Bring your cell full charge. They will be lots of picture taking. Carousel is open at this time too. A little bit too pricey for kids ticket. That's why 4 stars.

The 4 of us visited everything at the zoo on Sunday afternoon so we were worn out by end of day and grateful for water fountains to refill our water bottle. Texas Wetlands exhibit wasn't open yet so we'll need to return in future.

It's is a nice zoo! Acrylic windows are well cleaned up and I watched creatures very well.
Next to the souvenir coin machine, they have a chenege machine for quarters. We got 10 shinny pennies by 5$. It was awesome hospitality I have ever seen only once before in USA. The Souvenir coin slot of white bald hawk was not good. Please fix it.

Great family fun for the day. Plan on staying all day. Bring your own food and drinks. The zoo is getting more and more expensive it seems like. So in order to get what you pay for be ready to stay there for hours.

I'm not that happy this time. Lots of construction taking place and that's good But you walk trying to see something get almost there and have to turn around and find another route
Y'all should have temporary signs up directing the way. Not pleased at all on this trip. When is this construction supposed to be through?

We went for the light show. It was nice but not the best. Couldn't see the animals because they put most of them in their kennels. They close the park at 4pm and then reopen at 5 pm. Even if you were there earlier, you have to pay to get back in.
If you ever get a chance to see the light show at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio, that one is definitely worth going to see.

They take such amazing care of the animals and their exhibits. Ive been to many zoos to take pics of the big cats .. The tunnel to see the lions was jaw dropping ! The magnificent Malayan tiger strutting around showing off his beauty ! And the family of elephants is so joyous ! They are so loving , entertaining and peaceful to watch . highly recommend it ! And the gift shop usually had some specials as well

Worth the visit. Go early. Pay attention to times for showings. Watch the elephant bath. And feed the giraffes. Walk to Hermann Park for paddle boats, splash pad and train ride. Parking sucks.

I went to the Zoo Lights and it is way over priced for what they are giving you. It could've been better, but I guess that's just because I was expecting way more lights and not many dark patches.

I have visited many zoo but Houston zoo is having its own place. Very well designed and tonnes of things to explore. I specifically liked their snakes gallery. Some advice: 1. Buy Houston City Pass to visit here, it sis one of the cheaper option. 2. Pack and plenty of fluids to get hydrated through out the day, I bought a roll-able cooler to keep water bottles and juices. 3. Pack your own snacks if possible. 4. Try to reach there as early as possible and 5. Do not forgot to ride a train which is located just outside of main gate....

Had a wonderful time at Zoo Boo around Halloween, lots of fun stuff for the kiddos to do, along with trick or treating at different booths. Staff very informative and nice. We love the Houston Zoo, and visit every year!

My family and I always get the zoo membership because it is a really educational place to take our kids any day of the week. It's nice to know we can go one day to see a whole exhibit and learn about a certain habitat along with all of the animals living in it. Then, on the next day, we can see back whole different one! Theres so many different types of extinct animals, birds, reptiles, etc.. My children have learned so much and have gained so many great experiences.

It had been a long time since I've been, they have been under construction for awhile, but the changes are wonderful! Always kept clean, animals look well taking care of, and I love that at some exhibits employees were there to answer questions.

My home zoo is Portland, so that is my frame of reference. I thought it was great that in Houston you can do things like feed a giraffe some lettuce (I assume this is a free food in their diet, but not even close to free for you). Also you can get closer to the elephants than at Portland. I actually saw a couple of animals that I had never seen before, so they have some animals that aren't at every zoo. The bald eagle habitat was sort of sadly small. There's a little lake next door where you can rent a pedal boat if it isn't hot enough for you.

Very well sized zoo that has a variety of animals. The big cat area is especially neat. You could probably knock out the whole zoo in one day, but it is also fun to wander around and spend the day here.
We went on a relatively empty day and all the staff were very nice.

The animals have Extremely SMALL enclosures. It was very disheartening to see. One large cat was screaming for at least an hour and pacing in a circle pattern. More than one animal showed this behavior. I would NOT recommend visitng this Zoo. Some animals were nothing but skin & bones. I am not sure where the $$ goes, but it definitely does Not go towards the care of their animals.

Clean and welcoming, as always! Love our time at the zoo! While there were some adjustments made because of this current pandemic, it didn't really take away from the experience. We didn't get to stay as long as we'd have liked too, but we got to see the animals we wanted too. As zoo members, we'll definitely be going back.

We have been members of the zoo for years. They have a lot of events throughout the year. You can bring coolers with your own meals/drinks which is convenient for families. My kids love the zoo and the playground area. Great place for children. The membership pays for itself after two visits in a year. Way worth it.

The zoo has the best bird collection I've ever seen. Kids will enjoy the multiple play areas for ages 2-10. The bone exchange is neat, as are the bug and reptile houses. aquarium and mixed environment are also nice for breaks from the heat and rain.

Great time with the family, one thing i really appreciate the most about the zoo as a mother on a budget, i appreciate the fact that they do offer food and beverages at the zoo but still permit you to bring in your own food and coolers. This is one of if not the only place/event you can go to with your family in Houston where they sell food yet you can still bring your own in. Great savings and the annual membership is well worth it. They are also always adding and updating new zoo/animal attractions.

What a wonderful experience we had at the Houston Zoo. The place seemed nearly empty as we went early on a Saturday morning and were able to enjoy every exhibit without feeling crowded even the least bit. There were not many of the food endors open, but we finished the entire zoo before noon so maybe that's why they weren't all open. If you're a veteran, make sure to get your military discount at the ticket window for you and your guests.

My best friend and our service dogs thoroughly enjoyed the zoo! The workers were very accommodating and helpful. The zoo is wheelchair accessible and there's several good grassy spots for potty breaks for working dogs but don't forget to pick up after them. The new dragon exhibit was fantastic!
