This is a great store tuck away in Rice Village. I bought and sell all my stuffs here, always find great deals. The owner Jay and his staffs are very knowledgeable about what they have to offer. They are also friendly and attentive, I can stay there for hours when they are not busy. This is how they earn my business for so many years and many years to come. So check them out.

I've been to them twice. My experience both times were good and then very good for the 2nd visit. They took time to explain things to educate me as a buyer. The only issue I had was parking in West University, so go early. I would prefer to give them a 4.5 due to the parking but site doesn't allow it. And I would shop there again.

After a ridiculous experience at one of the cash for gold type places, I ventured over to HNE and had a wonderful experience. I got a great price on my gold and was in and out in just a few minutes. Very professional operation.
They did not look at my coins said they don't do appraisals but clearly the outside on their sign on the awning appraisals I really think I felt like I was being discriminated against because I was not their type that normally would walk in there I'm more Counter Culture looking then stuffy old white man I would recommend not to go there if you're not an average old white man but thought I would say the cop that answered the door was quite nice thank you Houston Police Department

First time I've even been today. The guy said my coin wasn't collectable. Certified in a PCGS holder, and they are selling for way over spot on Ebay. I've had good offers on Ebay, just thought I would check these guys to avoid the online fees. they wanted to pay spot value. It's fine if you want to beat people down, but don't say things aren't collectors items if they are. Very uninformed. The cop at the entry was pleasant, the other guy, maybe the bald guy was rude and seemed bothered by me, even before I showed him my coins. The gold coins were recovered under rubble at WTC after the Sept 11, 2001 terror attacks.

This is the ONLY place in Houston to buy and sell precious metals, PERIOD. Goldwise in Spring tried to offer me $950 for $1250 worth of junk silver after not even truly counting any of it. I don't think so. Don't ever sell your precious metals or jewelry to a pawn shop either. You will NEVER get a fair price. Those types of places prey on people's urgency for cash and lowball everyone. Houston Numismatic Exchange treats your precious metal like exactly what it is, CURRENCY. Cash for cash minus a convenience fee. And IT IS cash, not a check.

I worked with Jim on the evaluation of my Father's coin collection evaluation. HNE was the third estimate I got and they were the highest on about half of the collection. Jim told me they already had a lot of inventory of that kind of coin, which makes sense.
I would recommend HNE to anyone looking for a fair, honest evaluation.
I bought coins in to sell and they did not want to give me what they were worth so I went somewhere else and got almost double what I was going to get for them....unbelievable.
I have purchased gold coins from them a long time ago. Today I sold the gold coins back to them. I had very pleasant experience both times. They offer me the best price. I've made several purchases over the last 6 years. They sell high quality jewelry and lots of designer - Tiffany, Cartier, etc. The manager sets reasonable retail prices though you can get lower prices around town. They are good to their regular clients.

DO NOT attempt to do business with these thieves! That is unless you are absolutely trying to give money away. I just left from this establishment trying to sell two 1 ounce gold coins: 2012 American Buffalo (First Strike) MS70 PCGS value: $2350 and a 2013 Gold Eagle (First Strike) MS70 PCGS value: $2000. They offered me LESS than spot for regular bullion. When I declined the offer they asked me what I was hoping for. When I replied that I was looking for something close to the coins' numismatic value, they sarcastically smiled and nodded their heads as if I was some sort of uneducated moron. If you're just looking to sell your valuable coins and don't mind getting robbed in the process, you'll probably be better off selling them at your local pawn shop. I'm only giving this place one star because zero stars is not an option. By the way, the positive reviews on this message board were written by friends and family members of the owners of this establishment.

Sometimes we hear things we don't want to hear about what we have to sell. However, sometimes we need to hear what we don't want to hear about the items we have for sell. We may not understand it at the time, but it makes us better investors. I'm referring to my own experience here. That being said, I like shopping at this store when I'm in the area.

I have bought several items from this business. I have found them honest and easy to work with. Trust to be in business in West U for as long as they have they have integrity. I have yet to buy anything that did not appraise at a price that was equal or much better as far a jewelry. I call it my little secret. My prize ring.... Shhh... was a huge hit.The diamonds are amazing. So was my Mom's and my Cousins and severals friends... I am addicted. I can not say enough. If you give less than a 5 eh? learn your diamonds. I know that it's important for small businesses to make money, but my first experience there was a big turn off. I have just started going through an old collection left to me by my dad, however I'm not new to coin collecting. I was at a nearby restaurant, and saw this place when walking around. When I went in, I was greeted promptly. I mentioned that I was just starting to go through my dads collection, and he jumped in and said I had to buy a book he had. I really didn't get to tell him anything else. I knew all about the things he was showing me in the book, and frankly most of that info is online. When I said I wasn't interested in the book he turned away and blew me off.
Perhaps he was busy, I don't know, but the strong arm sales approach was not appreciated.

WOW, talk about poor service. Walked in to this place and received a "Yes Sir" from one of the employees (the bald guy) behind the counter. After asking my question he was having none of it. His time was too important to focus on the customer. I felt like I was on a clock and ended up just cutting it short and walking out. Somone needs to go to a Dale Carnegie course...

If you want to know anything about rare coins jewelry baseball cards or anything of the sort this is the best place to have somebody look at your stuff say from your grandfather or your great-grandmother and figure out if it's worth anything they always tell you like it is and shoot you straight and then you'll actually learn something and probably have a good time while you're there
