Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Large rooms and pools. Food is exquisite and at fairly good prices. Many nearby places for entertainment and food. Overall an excellent hotel in Newport.

This was my first time staying here. Overall, nice and good experience, not bad. Staff and valet is professional. However, it s better to research the restaurant hours nearby, most of the restaurant close around 4p-5p (break probably). The only issue I have is the shower. Pressure isn t strong and not enough hot water. Other than that, I had nice time with my stay. The hotel is basically in the middle from the museum and other attractions. Walkable distance.

Great location. Hotel staff is nice. A lot of amenities are closed right now due to Covid. The rooms are VERY SMALL. The bathroom as well. We stayed in room 401. The AC was horrible. I told the staff they sent someone to try and fix it but it didn t do anything. If your going to stay here definitely make sure the AC works because they was rough. Other than that the location was great.

The Viking hotel is on the national registry of historic hotels. The exterior facade is absolutely stunning-beautiful brick building located in a perfect setting to walk everywhere. There is vallet parking which is included in the price so taking advantage of that is a must. The inside of the building is grand, big, old with a mix of new and the management takes pride in the way the building looks. The indoor pool and hot tub are large enough, though the carpet in the pool area is unsanitary and should be replaced with tile. The gym is a good size as well and all the recreational facilities can be used at any time. Aside from the view of Newport and the ocean from our room, this was the least impressive part of the hotel. The room was very tight and really uncomfortable once they brought a bed on wheels there for use as the third bed. Overall a pleasant experience and a bargain for three nights and I would definitely stay there again.

On beautiful Bellevue which made for easy walking to nearby estates and Cliff Walk. Truly enjoyed my stay in Newport and the room was fine...nothing spectacular. I used an award/gift card to pay for my room which means....view of the roof air-conditioning units and room placement far away from front desk. I understand. What bothered me the most is the outrageous pet fee ($100) and daily resort fee ($25 during Covid, normally $50). The only reasonable add-on was valet for $15 (normally $25). My pet is a poodle mix that doesn't shed and is cleaner than most humans. The resort fee had little value (except maybe in the summertime - beach chairs and bikes) aside from the wi-fi. Hotels that nickel and dime guests are distasteful, and even moreso when it's done by hotels of this caliber. Regarding valet, upon checking out I called ahead for my car, it wasn't ready 10 mins later, the valet took another guest's car ahead of me, along my keys. What should've been a smooth interaction ended up being a 20-25 minute delay and solidified my distaste for the Hotel Viking. I'll likely choose another hotel on future trips to Newport.

Excellent!! We stayed 2 nights and had a very enjoyable experience. The staff was incredibly hospitable, they also have a fantastic restaurant and roof top bar among many other amenities. The room was spacious and clean. You are right in the heart of historic Newport. I highly recommend this property.

Nice outside, feels like 1929 on the inside. Needs a revamp. WAYYYYY overpriced. The restaurant management, service and overall dining experience was an absolute joke and a disgrace to the hospitality industry. For that kind of money, you can do MUCH MUCH better in town. Try pasta beach for better food. The restaurant manager was atrocious. Multiple menu items were forgotten and never brought at dinner. No water refills. Not even enough glasses of water in the table for each person 3 short. I shared a water with my brother the whole evening. Amatuer service all around. I've had better service at Wendy's to be honest. To ask for those prices for that food, the service needs to be elevated greatly. Felt like Ruby Tuesday's ... Sad for $700+ dollars, you would expect more.... Out suite was decent but unfortunately also quite expensive for the small size and bathroom. Overall it's a beautiful building from 1929 and worth a visit. Much to expensive for the dinner and room, expected more. We certainly won't be back anytime this lifetime.

Horrible! Stay away! Had to switch our room twice. First Room was extremely small. The bathroom could barely fit a person. Second room had dirt all over the bathroom tile and they put us into a double queen when it was just my husband and I. Third room was better not still not great. The room had a weird smell and the bathroom sink was outside of the bathroom...who was the genius behind that?! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone for the price.

Do not go here during COVID!!! They offer no services (room service, maid service, etc.) and will claim it is due to the pandemic, but will offer no discount on their room prices in return. Truly one of the worst hotels I have ever been ... please go to hotel Vanderbilt down the road!

If you want to vacation in Newport, there s absolutely no better place to stay than Hotel Viking. Located within a 10 minute of notable attractions like the Newport Tower, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Redwood Library, and the Audrain Automobile Museum (among others), this historic hotel has excellent food, efficient room service, and a fantastic atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Hotel Viking in late October and we can't say enough about the hospitality, flexability and kindness of the staff. The hotel is beautiful, well-maintained and sits at an ideal Newport location. A comfortable, cozy and friendly experience, staff willing to go above and beyond to honor guest preferences. A special mention to all the front desk staff (thank you Kevin), the 1 Bellevue Restaurant staff and their beautiful outdoor dining, as well as the patient/effcient bellhop and housekeeping staff. I Highly recommend this historic hotel for the perfect, romantic New England getaway!

Small bathroom, vent and lite did not work in the bathroom, hot water from the sink faucet ran over the floor in the bathroom. No shelf in the bathroom to put anything on like toiletries. The AC in the bedroom was set so could only go as low as 77 which was too hot in August. The people that work there were all 5 star people. The place was way overpriced for what we got.

Hotel was in a good location, easy walk down to the restaurants and shopping on Bowen s wharf. There is no longer any shuttle services due to COVID. Our room was clean but had an issue with the air conditioner (room was 80 when we checked in). Room service was very slow, we called for towels and never received them. There is only valet parking. The valets were very nice but the texting system was down so you had to call the front desk or walk down to ask them to retrieve your car.

Upon arrival I was very excited. The prompt valet service and the outside of hotel was very inviting. As I checked in, I felt extremely rushed, and the man at the front desk seemed very all over the place Talking so fast and rushing me to get to my room. Mind you, I was the only one at the counter. Trying to remember the directions I gave up and asked a fellow hotel guest. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was a sign at the elevator only allowing 2 people max (which is completely understandable) and obliged. My room was on the 1st floor, which you take the elevator down. I was disappointed on my room placement which felt like I was in the basement. I was assuming a different feeling from the hotel and it got worse from here. When I opened my door, my room was small and just blah. It reminded me of a typical chain hotel. The decor was old. The bed was comfortable however and clean. I also assumed this highly rated hotel had some sort of room service. No. I was so thirsty and looked for complimentary water in the room...None. I left my room to go on a vending machine adventure to be disappointed that they don t have any. What?! They sure have signs that say vending They do have ice though. I then took the elevator back up to the front desk to get water. Very disappointing. Most hotels atleast have 2 bottles of water, cups and even a cheap coffee maker. Next. The next morning I took a shower which was awful. While the water was great, the tile in shower was dirty and the drain needs a cover of some sort. My feet were scraping again the jagged tiles inside the drain. The shower itself also needs atleast a small lip on outside because when I was done with shower, the WHOLE bathroom floor was soaked from the drain water! I don t understand why the shower is flush with the actual bathroom tile? So, I decided to brush my teeth. Leaking sink. I gave this place 2 stars because I did have a good experience at the bar. That s it. It s very overpriced for what you get. I should of stayed at Gurneys and will not return. I payed $667 for a 2 star hotel experience.

a very well-maintained historic hotel in downtown Newport. The guest rooms are a little bit small but that can be expected for the age of the building. Everything is clean and the food is good. The service is top-notch.

Stayed here a couple of times now, and been very happy each time! It seems like they're finishing up some renovations now, which turned out great! The more modern rooms stay pretty true to the older style of the hotel too. Restaurant is great, pool is awesome, coffee shop is solid for breakfast, valet was super convenient... What else is there? Highly recommend the Viking if you're looking for a hotel downtown
