A fiasco ... only its location is good. The most ugly sanitary facilities .. it does not look like a modern hotel and the stars that promote it. I do not recommend it.

For the required cost, it doesn't offer much. Three poor stars.

Hotel was great! Was located in the heart of the city, easy walking distance to everything including train station. It was clean, had lots of hot water and awesome water pressure. Buffet breakfast was simple and good. Negatives they do not have a terrace over looking the city as shown on the web page, no wifi and they charge for anything taken out of the mini fridge.
Still I would defiantly recomend and stay again.

Do not expect large spaces, but it is a gem nestled in a uniquely beautiful city. Excellent value for money. Very Clean. Great welcome and kindness

This is a small well-equipped urban hotel, impeccable and perfect in location three minutes from the central station of Florence. From here you can visit the historic center on foot and nearby restaurants.
It has comfortable and spacious rooms. Very clean bathrooms. Change of bed linen daily.Bufet breakfasts. Very good prices.

PERFECT. I stayed at the Universo hotel during the month of December: excellently heated rooms, perfumed rooms and very modern bathrooms. Room cleaning carried out every day strictly every day, excellent and abundant breakfast, so much so that we did not want to eat in the afternoon! Central location, 5 minutes from Piazza Duomo. I highly recommend

The waiter led us to the elevator and the service was very good.

Our room in the Hotel Universo had a beautiful view of Piazza di Santa Marie Novella, and the hotel is generally situation great for visitors to Florence. The rooms are fairly small and generally the hotel is designed in a pretty vertical and narrow fashion. The complimentary breakfast is good but they have limited to no hot breakfast. Generally, I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Universo.

Good location, but moderate to minimal equipment, volume in rooms terrible and downright ridiculous - ear protection on all floors committed (even if you should not be judicious). Avoid it if possible, the location is not everything, especially in a small city like Florence.

I stayed in June 2019. Location good, close to sights, restaurants, Santa Maria Novella terminal, supermarket, etc. The view of the square and the church of Santa Maria Novella is sensational, but it brings problems like noise, due to being in a very busy square. The breakfast is good but not 100% complete. The room is quite spacious and comfortable.

Exceptional location, very friendly staff, good breakfast, but rather small rooms. Good air conditioning Cleaning: normal. I will be back.

A LITTLE PERFECT HOTEL! In December, I stayed at the Hotel Universo, rooms that were perfectly heated every time we returned to the room, a clean, modern and fragrant bathroom. Very kind and very efficient staff with an optimal and abundant breakfast with quality foods, and rooms cleaned and tidy every time we return. Perfect central location 5 min from the cathedral on foot. I recommend Hotel Universo to all those who decide to spend a wonderful holiday in Florence. CONGRATULATIONS!

It is a three-star hotel with a great location. The rooms have been renovate the bathrooms could use some renovation. It is however clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

The location is so so so so good! The location is one of the hotel. When you get down to the station and fall down, you reach the corner. (30 seconds if you run)

Somehow we were two, but they gave us a big room. I have three beds. I was just happy just because I was squatting in a snobby room in Paris and Rome and it was so wide. Even when I opened the window at the hotel from the entrance where the plaza starts, it was a relief to look down. In the plaza, there was a street performance, and a cafeteria on the floor, but it was not a noise that could be disgusting to sleep.

Of course, if you take two adults in the elevator, it is narrow (?), And breakfast does not seem to be very delicious either. The facilities are a bit old, too, and you can not dream of a toothbrush toothbrush comb or other amenity (..!) But I was just happy because of the location .... Staff is friendly and there is also water and cola in the refrigerator.

Great location. Close to EVERYTHING. 4 minutes from train (all flat). We got an upgrade to top floor (wonderful surprise). Comfortable beds. Pleasant view. Friendly staff. Lots of stairs (small elevator so we took the stairs often). Breakfast is basic but good. Thank you Universo.

Good location but a bit loud if you have windows outside, and breakfast is average..

Very bad! Be careful, you risk sleeping on the street. They canceled the booking a few hours before departure because the first attempt to withdraw from a credit card failed and they did not even try again but they canceled the booking directly. Rude and arrogant on the phone. Over all I have already been there and they just have the view of the basilica (if you are lucky to have a room on the front side). Bad bathrooms and there is no lobby, so if it rains, you are forced to stay in the room because there is no common space. Noisy rooms and dirty carpet

Absolute Desaster of a room. Very (!) Small and dated. Bathroom door and window not fully closing. Loud noise from courtyard. The only thing that speaks for the hotel is its proximity to the city centre and train station. This might work if you really only need a bed for the night, but you don't want to spend any additional minute in the rooms.

Relatively cheap hotel but we look for it because of its location. The breakfast could be improvable, but it was plentiful and it suited us. It is very well located, in front of the Maria Novella Church, 200m from the train terminal. Near the attractions of the city. The room was comfortable, the bathroom a little small maybe, but comfortable too. The cleanliness in general was good. Nothing of luxury (we do not look for them), a place to rest well, a strong breakfast and to visit this beautiful city. We would go back to the same place.

It's a little outdated for my liking. But it's close to transportation and shopping.

A cheap and decent hotel in the centre of Florence. Biggest problem is access to some rooms which is via stairwells that resemble an Escher drawing.

Room overlooking the Maria Novella square. Something small the room but very cozy. All very clean Hotel service very friendly. The deyauno well, there is not much variety, but enough. The biggest problem is the lack of wardrobe in the room.

Pretty friendly staff but dirty hotel and very dark room you could hardly see anything. I was in the middle of winter and the heat in the room was off. The rooms are not at all soundproof, you can hear the slightest noise on the entire floor. Two stars just because the breakfast wasn't bad.

Great location, in the center of Florence, single room not very big, however clean. Breakfast not plentiful.

Location was great. However, the elevators didn't take you to each floor, and you had to haul your luggage up and down stairs, to get to your room. One night I spilled some water on my blanket, and requested a new blanket. The staff member I talked to refused at first, stating that they were just a 3 star hotel, so apparently, I couldn't expect them to help me with something like this??? They couldn't even access the cupboard where the blankets were, at night, so they ended up bringing me several flat sheets. My room with a twin bed was very basic. Some of the larger rooms had nicer accommodations.

Right now I'm on my first night in the hotel, the room is fine and the decoration is not my taste but it's all clean, the bathroom is correct so for what I give a star is because they have given us an interior room and Now at 00:40 there is an unbearable noise like that of some engines or a centrifugal washing machine that enters from the patio of lights, it does not let me sleep, for that reason it completely discouraged this hotel.

Common areas hardly accessible, the narrow staircase, too small elevator, room just enough, scarce lights, external doors and windows to be replaced, breakfast room with large table, little privacy, poorly soundproofed rooms.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in Europe under $100.

Simple and attractive, this square contains hotels on its facades from which one can observe the square with its constant chirping of birds at all seasons and the movement of people and stalls changing rapidly from above.
Well kept and perhaps with a little too much freedom to the street vendors by the police, it is a clean and well kept place.s

I stayed here in spring 2013 and loved it. Not because of the decorating but because the staff were wonderful and the location was just as good. It was close to train and bus stations, an easy location from which to walk all around historic Florence and, best of all, the personable and accommodating staff in the hotel.

Location and view is excellent, the crew is friendly and helpfull, the room is nice.

No AC!!! It just doesn't cool, no air flow... Asked for a fan for the night... She said don't have any... And said your room is at 24c...but I have had it on 20 all day, we paid good money for a room with AC,. Kinda rude and did not even try to come up with a solution...
To just say 19 is as low as it goes... Doesn't cool off my room... It doesn't drop the temperature.
Opened the window... But there isn't any wind so it is not helping..

Rest of things are great
... But if this is how she takes care of our problems... It is not worth your time to stay here.

Location is great, buuuut that's about the only good thing about it. Extremely noisy. No soundproofing.

Rooms are definitely outdated. Bathrooms are small. Rooms were cleaned with Lysol (or a similar cleaning product) and really smelled of it (and floors were slippery because of it). We had to air the room out every time we came in. Location is good (in all honestly though, any hotel within 20 mins walk from the train station is in a good location). Biggest issue is the noise. We could hear people above us flushing their toilet, and the water running down the pipes, at all times. Noise was also coming from outside (we were not facing the beautiful Piazza, we were facing the AC unit for the building next door). Bottom line: very noisy. Breakfast was at par, cereals, yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, croissants, fruit, espresso/cappuccino on demand, etc... no eggs though. Overall, this place is waaaaay overpriced for what it offers. It's just okay. Would not stay here again, Florence is littered with hotel options.

Wifi is very bad and in the room maximum in the bathroom working. Upon arrival, the lights in the bathroom burned and every time after cleaning the room they let the lights in the room burn. Pure energy waste. The rooms are very noisy and ours was very dark. Location is great and the staff very friendly

A facility that only Korean rural residents could not do.
There is no sound in the next room, a flying worm, a crawling insect, a narrow room, no lighting, no elevator in the lower floors.

I gave money and exercised self-discipline.
I wanted to go to Korea immediately because I thought why I was doing in foreign countries.

Very good location near the terminal and everything important in Florence also in front of the Novelia square with lots of movement and places to eat

very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room assigned to us was large, with a really spacious bathroom. The thing that I liked most was undoubtedly the extreme cleanliness of everything, especially the bathroom, with shower and tiles are polished. Check 4 stars only because we were there for congressional reasons and we needed (obviously) to charge our electronic devices during the night, which was not absolutely possible: in fact, once all the lights were turned off, the electric voltage went down and the sockets stopped working. Too bad we only noticed it the next morning, when it was too late to fix it and we had to subsequently load our devices or in the bathroom, where there was a socket that remained functional, or around where it happened.

Location is excellent as it s a 2 minute walk to train/bus while still being an easy walk to the Old Town and attractions.

We had a gorgeous room overlooking the Santa Maria Novella church and piazza. We stayed in March so the hotel wasn t completely full and the square was quiet at night and in the morning. Lots of great little patio bars on either side of the hotel. Breakfast was nice but light.
