The hospitality of The Ummed doesn t at all justify its grand and royal name. My stay here was full of discomfort and hassle. The air conditioners were not working - not in the room, not in corridors and not at all in the lobby, the rooms were unkept and no proper housekeeping services in spite of repeated reminders, they failed to provide even the basic of all requirements i.e. drinking water.
It used to be a much better stay when it was a TAJ property. They have miserably failed to match even a quarter of TAJ standards.
It was my friend s wedding and the entrie hotel was booked for two days. The guests couldn t stop complaining which turned out to be a big embarrassment for the family. The hotel management must apologise for the inconvenience caused. I strongly do not recommend this hotel for any kind of luxury or corporate stay.

Classical and elegant building, the room is spacious. The facilities are relatively old, the hot water temperature is low, and the water volume is small. No toothbrush is provided.
The service staff is very kind.

Very nice hotel but scruffy and quite dirty.

Very nice hotel but scruffy and quite dirty.
We had to change the sheets twice ... And the second were stained with blood so they changed the room but the toilet situation is not improved.
Buffet mediocre.
I put the third star only because the structure is fascinating ... Unfortunately, in a hotel you also need to sleep!

Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms, fantastic shower and beautiful swimming pool. Staff are friendly and helpful. Difficult to exchange euro for rupees in the hotel but there's an ATM just next door by the petrol station. Food is not generally to my taste. Excellent omelettes. Highly recommend this hotel if you're in Jodhpur - approx 20 minutes from city centre and a little more to the fort.

Stayed here last weekend for two nights. It was to me the most memorable hotel on a 12 day tour of Rajasthan. You know its good when most of the guests are from India itself. Would definitely return and highly recommend this place to friends and family.
Check out Mumta's shop for Pashmiri scarfs at reasonable prices.

The wedding is probably one of the most important ...

The wedding is probably one of the most important day of a persons life, but apparently the management and staff of the Ummed don't think so. It was my best friends wedding and the arrangements were done for the Ummed. The list of things that I can count and put down for myself alone, that didn't quite work well are:

1: Service (in-room/off-room)
2: The staff wasn't attentive or concerned. They weren't even bothered, the hospitality level was not even null, it was negative!
3: The air conditioners did not work inspite of it being the scorching month of may in Rajasthan.Despite several complaints and arguments they still didn't get it fixed. Over the stay of three days and two nights, not for a second did we feel like we were staying in ac rooms.
4: The room keys were easily discharged and needed activation after every hour.
5: There was no housekeeping inspite of asking the reception to send them up at least twenty times.
6: There was no one to pick up the phone at the reception or cater to the guests' needs.
7: it took them an hour and 7 calls to get a bottle of water.
8: There was no professionalism and no luxury that the staff provided. It would have been better to stay at an inn, which would at least give us the luxury of a cool room and warm staff.
9: No management and decision making, lack of spontaneity and delayed hours of work because the management was waiting for orders from the head. They couldn't take a call and fix problems. They just kept waiting and probably hoping for some magic to happen to fix everything.
10: They gave away the pre-booked rooms to new guests and made the groom and his family wait for an hour till the rooms were vacant. Heights of unprofessionalism wherein the hotel rented out pre-booked rooms and asked the guests to wait.
11: A money extracting hotel that will provide you with : DISCOMFORT!

This stay has surpassed all the worst stays of my life and taken the glory of proving to be the worst inspite of carrying such a royal name. It's time the hotel gave away it's title and shut completely down. They are lucky that the bride's father hasn't sued them yet but that day isn't far when we will see them in court for not being able to provide one thing that the hotels are supposed to provide: Hospitality. I would never recommend this place! If you plan on staying here, DON'T!

The palace, I ve deliberately called it a palace, as the property is humongous. I stayed for 6 days. The food in the buffet is amazing. The overall ambience is amazing. Although it is a bit far from airport, but when you re inside the hotel, you dont feel like going out. The pool is like a dream especially early in the morning.

Luxurious Hotel to stay, worth every penny spent, be it room, food and activities. Hotel staff was very humble and honest. Swimming pool was clean and ample space for Car parking. Hotel do own their cows, Buffalo and horses. They also offer free horse ride under trained supervisor within their property.
