So, I booked an overnight stay at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Palomar hotel on Wilshire for an overnight stay while traveling on business. Everything was easy-peasy over the phone.

Excellent in all aspects. With all the comforts. The location is unbeatable. Parking service is premium, although 72 usd 24h. Next door is a more affordable parking lot for 42usd +.
The rooms are perfect.
With regard to technology everything is included, ironing, adapting, and even the Wifi signal is the best I've enjoyed lately. I recommend this hotel to you to conventions and events. Even a wedding was held during our stay and we were not disturbed. It's all very well - soundproof. Finally, the views are beautiful and with a large panoramic panoramic crystal and automatic curtains. It's a 5 - star with Category 4 Diamonds.

Front Desk was very helpful, nice welcoming and our room was ready as soon as we got there, so that was nice.

The day we were going to check out I got a letter under the door of the invoice, I was surprised to see that I was charged for an in room movie , that no one even watched. And we were out most of the day. From the time we checked in till our check out the roomwas not serviced !!!

Although I was contacted by the Director of Front Office, and sent details but the reply was simply :"Please feel free to call me anytime. I am back in my office tomorrow all day. Or send me a telephone number I can reach you at and I will call you whenever convenient for you."
All my contact details was in the email, still didnt get a call from them, plus why should I be the one to call them if they were looking for customer satisfaction the should of called me.

Five star service all around! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, and we had amazing service by the receptionists and room service. Check in was very easy with no lines, but we got here at 6pm instead of 3. They were also very nice and accommodating because my girlfriend and I had reservations for lunch at Signature Room at 12:30, and because check out is at noon, the door man kept our bags for us while we went with no problems. We stayed in the executive tower and our views were incredible. We had views of both the lake and the river. We even were luck enough to be in a room that showed Navy Pier's fireworks on Friday night! How many people can say that?? Another great thing for us is that thankfully, our hotel wasn't protesting this weekend because most of them around us, including the Sheraton, Wyndham, and Hilton hotels, were protesting their wages and it was so loud so I couldn't imagine staying at one of those. We could actually hear it in our 33rd floor room... Our hotel room was beautiful and clean. The bathroom was huge and the shower was nice with a huge showerhead, though the shower itself is pretty small. The bed in our room was so comfy and you literally sink into the bed when sleeping. We were in a room with 1 king sized bed. You get a complimentary water, and because I'm a rewards member, I got a little card for 10% off any places within the hotel for the whole weekend. That includes Starbucks, Eno, and Michael Jordan Steakhouse. We also got wifi in our room for free since we were in the executive suite. We checked out the gorgeous pool here and it was very clean and spacious. However, of course since it is indoors, the room gets extremely hot and humid. There is also tons of history behind this hotel and its pool and decor because the Grand Tower (The main tower) was build during the Prohibition. I will DEFINITELY be staying here again, and I'd love to explore them in different states and locations, as well. Very happy with our stay!

I've stayed more then 100 times at intercontinenta...

I've stayed more then 100 times at intercontinental in my life. Chicago is not one of the best.
This hotel is well located, and the breakfast (70$ extra per breakfast for couple plus tax and tip is 100$ for breakfast!!) is very poshi and well served.

Those are the top 2 points for the hotel.
When you book, please note that half of the rooms are at the old section with lousy wood and really old furniture, bad bathroom and in general not welcoming at all.

After complain I was moved to the new section of the hotel with better rooms and renovated area.

My new room had a tragical cleaning issue which I don't want to tell more about it, as I do understand those things can happen and I don't want to be against the cleaning lady - after I found out she is cleaning alone (!!) 3 floors every day in the hotel. More people as a staff could solve some of the problems.

Nigth refresh cleaning service were about to be on this 5 stars hotel, but in 5 nights stay we got it only once as the poor cleaning lady couldn't finish the work in all of the rooms.

I'm addition, please note that this is one of the only 5 stars hotels around that do not provide espresso machine, I stead they send you to Starbucks down the hall.

Last thing: besides one person, who was super nice (a manager at the reception) most of the staff at reception were rude with attitude. Especially a guy name Lucas that offeres clients to move to my original reservation room with extra payment because it's the new section..

And don't forget, if you send any letter or package to the hotel, they charge you 10$ to get it, in their small office that they run with FedEx inside the hotel.
It's a robbery, not an hotel stay.

Honestly, I was super disappointed.

Honestly, it was a bad expirience. Really.

It was fun staying in an older hotel like this. Has an Olympic-sized pool, and Michael's Steakhouse is attached. Even though it's right on Michigan Avenue, it wasn't hard to get to, but you'll regret not utilizing their valet service if you think it's not worth it.

I made a reservation here on sweetest day and when I got there they gave us a room with two beds. There was a door in our room that let to someone else's room!! We could hear the ppl talking right next to us! Food was excellent, my Sat. night came up to $425 I'm unhappy and not satisfied. Never coming back here no more. Happy Sweetest Day!

Do not have your wedding here - you are at risk of...

Do not have your wedding here - you are at risk of having your personal items stolen by employees and the hotel will claim they are not liable and cannot provide you security.

I was recently a member of a bridal party at a wedding here. The bridal party and wedding planner were told by the hotel's Director of Catering that they could hold items in a storage room during the cocktail hour. The room was in an obscure location that ONLY a hotel employee would be aware of. I placed my cell phone in this room for a 20 minute window and it was stolen. The thief gained access to many of my accounts, stole my identity, held my phone and accounts ransom, and extorted me to get them back.

After weeks of back and forth with the hotel, they ultimately claimed that they were not responsible for this theft, as they could not provide security to the party in this storage room, and placed blame on the wedding planner, claiming she was ultimately liable. She wouldn't have even know this room existed had the hotel not instructed her to use it.

Ironically, something was stolen from a friend during a wedding at The Ivy Room and they immediately made it right and reimbursed her, no questions asked.

It's unfortunate that this beautiful wedding was completely ruined by the pathetic customer service I have experienced.

Yes we were here just before the city opened up. We were the only ones at the desk at check in. The desk was clean and the check in prompted and respectfull. They seemed genuinely happy to see us. The room was clean. The bed the most comfortable of all. Shower so nice I stayed in a little extra. When you stop in tell them Joe sent you...they will say Joe Who...that's me

This hotel was lovely. It was built in the late 1920's and has a beautiful, classic feel to it. The rooms are all very modern and updated, though. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the shower/bathroom were great. I found the staff to be super kind and helpful. The best part, though, is really how easy it is to get around once you leave the hotel. It's really at the heart of things. You can walk to a lot of great places, including Millennium Park, but you can also get an Uber almost instantly. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

$250 deposit. Not everyone of your customers has credit cards with endless charge potential. You took $250 cash out of my pocket for my weekend. You re charging enough for your holiday inn comparable hotels. Granted, I got it back but that was my spending money for this weekend. I ll never stay in your hotel again, at this point.

The Intercontinental hotel has very modern rooms and wonderful amenities. With the Michael Jordan Steakhouse in the bottom of the hotel; a wonderful meal is just a short walk away. A Starbucks is also in the bottom of the hotel which provides for a great way to start your day every morning!

I'm in Chicago for a work trip. This hotel is in a great location and the employees have been polite. But I've stayed in much cheaper hotels with finer luxuries. The towels and tissues are rough on the skin, the bedding isn't great, and bottles of water are not complimentary. It's the little things that make a hotel comfortable.

Last weekend, we made a second visit to the InterContinental which did not disappoint! While we were originally awed by the beauty and history of the hotel, this past weekend was filled with enchantment as we were fortunate enough to stay during the lighting of the lobby tree, arrival of Santa, modern day carolers, and the start of the holiday festivities. From the moment Will greeted us with that now familiar warm smile until he assisted us with our departure, our experience was as delightful as the happy little elf distributing candy canes in the beautifully decorated lobby. We were fortunate to catch the entire Festival of Lights parade, nice and cozy warm from our hotel room window. We even purchased a few items at the pop-up mart in the hotel ballroom. Our stay was a true jump start to our holiday spirit. We would highly recommend a visit to the intercontinental during the holiday season. For us, it was an unforgettable experience.

Being a life long Bulls fan it was awesome to have the Michael Jordan steakhouse in the lobby. There was tons of memorabilia surrounding the restaurant.

Good place, very good location. Sorry that after check out you invent charges. I was invented a charge of USD 65 for coffee shop and restaurant and I never made such a consumption, in fact, they gave me a letter of no debit. Downstairs there is a Starbucks connected to the hotel and that's where I used to drink coffee. A shame that a hotel of that name makes those practices.

Opps! Ignore this review for the Chicago Intercontinental as I just discovered I was referring to a different Intercontinental Hotel where I had stayed the week before in San Juan, Costa Rica..... It does apply to that one. R Shayla in Chicago treated us verty well and was most helpful and friendly........" Waited entirely too long to be checked in late at night. There was no recognition that we were there and someone would be with us. Casual conversation going on instead of getting work done."
