I did an staycation here and we loved it. The service was great, the decor in the hotel is very appealing and the breakfast food had good flavoring. The room service was fast and the personnel was polite. We had the cheese platter which is perfectly portioned for two people. The restroom and bathtub is very specious, our room was a little tight but enough room for two people to move around comfortably and view was great as we could see downtown from our window. The location is amazing as there's plenty of bras & restaurants within walking distance as well as the train that runs all the way to the medical area. Overall I would stay here again.

I give this hotel 2 stars, one for the nice staff and one for decor. It was very homey. The "premium" bedding was extremely uncomfortable (pillows were nice, though). Also my check in time was at 3 which I thought was really late, surprisingly not late enough because the room wasn't ready yet. I was compensated with a couple drink vouchers which was nice. It has been a couple days and checking my bank account this morning I find I was charged 165 over my already overpriced bill and am awaiting response/a copy of the bill from the hotel. I may be updating this review fun 2 stars to 1 based on this experience..

Hotel Icon is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. They were extremely accommodating allow us to check in and storing our bags while we waited for the room to be ready. We took the hotel shuttle to the Breakfast Klub that was recommended by Ron, which was amazing. Daniel drove us in the shuttle and offered suggestions on places to go in the city. The room was lovely. The bathroom is huge. The only thing I didn't like was that there was no microwave in the room or in the hotel. They provide ice buckets but you have to call the front desk to request ice. The hotel is right across from a metro station that is very simple and easy to use. We found this to be quite convenient. There's an awesome bar in the hotel lobby as well. Herb was a great bartender and helped us with food options. We enjoyed fantastic salmon ceasar salads and chips with Guacamole. Housekeeping didn't come the next day to turn down the beds and bring fresh towels so we had to call but they cleaned the room while we attended the rodeo so it was nice to back after a long day. We also took the shuttle to Specs, the largest liquor store around, per Ron's suggestion. This time Mohamed was our driver and he was very nice. Be waited for us to finish shopping and brought us back to the hotel. On our last day, after we checked I out we needed to store our bags while we went to eat and wait for our ride. Again they were accommodating. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Beautiful historic building. Large well appointed rooms and really large bathroom. Convenient location. Be advised you will pay for parking. The advertised rate on the sign as you enter is the daily rate. Overnight is more. Lobby and bar are very stylish. Only complaint would be the slow elevators but they did not cause a significant issue on my stay.

This hotel has/had bedbugs! I stayed there in March 2020, and found 6 bedbugs in my room, I provided them to the front desk and they did not treat the situation seriously. They also refuse to pay for damages related to the incident. I will never stay here again. Bedbugs are extremely difficult to get rid of, protect yourself and stay elsewhere!

Quiet Room Upstairs

Quiet Room Upstairs

Enjoy conversations in the cigar room upstairs. Posh, intimate feel of this room is nice for small group of no more than a few. You will feel like celebrity and want to take pictures.

Cigar room is just a name-There are no cigars smoked in this cigar room.

Modern Throwback Excellence

Modern Throwback Excellence

Iconic, retro, chic vintage and exceptionally comfortable. Great location and friendly staff, they make having a great experience easy. Management is very responsive and caring, they are proud of their 4 Diamond status and work hard to keep it.

Highly recommended with an unexpected surprise, one of the best hotel showers anywhere!!! I would choose Icon again just for that!

Wife's and my choice for the nicer hotel option for wedding guests (and us). Guest rooms comparable size to other downtown hotels, if not a bit larger. The style/character in the place outpaces other downtown hotels in similar price range (my opinion).

Plan post-wedding was open; ended up going straight to Icon's bar. Perfect way to cap the evening - bar staff is responsive, not crowded, nice setting, a lot of places to sit, and of course no concern around everyone getting back to the rooms.

Hotel staff in general on point - did a good job helping the weekend feel special without overdoing it.

Shady! After checking into our room, which was not fully cleaned, we alerted the housekeeping manager. Norbert (manager) was great and decided that our room should be comped. I was very appreciative. The charge was removed from our bill; however, after leaving the charge was recharged back to our room! I only knew after checking our credit card bill statement and an additional charge of $17.09 was included!!! Keep an eye on your statements after leaving this Marriott. I would have preferred to stay at another Marriott property in Houston. They also charge $33 for parking and tried to charge me for two cars because I was towing a 4X8 U-Haul. The underground parking area was not full! As a military family moving across country, I only choose Marriott because of their customer service and hospitality. Thankfully, the revised the charges when I called but had I not caught the "accident" I would have paid way more than my final bill reflected. Avoid this overpriced ICON brand hotel!

The ICON is really close to Highway 45 so it was easily accessible, the only thing that was a but confusing checking in at night was having to drive around to be able to find Valet parking. They only have valet parking. The hotel itself when you walk in is just as you've read on the other reviews but when you get to the room it is exactly as you see in the pictures. The bed was quite possible one of the best beds I've staying in a hotel, I tend to prefer stiffer beds.

Room was nice enough, staff was friendly. A little difficult to figure out where to go initially, but not actually difficult to get to. Stayed here for the jacuzzi, but it was kind of small.

I'm mixed on this place, which is why I'm going with 3 stars. The space has character. I think it was an old bank. It's near a tram line so be ready to hear the trains super-early. Food was mediocre. Staff were great. Nice. Courteous. Helpful. Fitness center had enough. You'll be able to get in a full workout if you're crafty. All of that would be fine if the room was not so expensive. Maybe that's Houston, but I didn't think it was great value

Amazing location next to a beautiful park and the train. Theres a variety of restaurants, cafes and ethnic food around the area which I love. The hotel itself has great service and food. The ladies in the front desk we're very helpful in pointing out the best places to go and how to get to the zoo area. We ordered the spinach and feta omelette and it came with a generous side of potatoes. We also had pancakes and they did not skimp out on the chocolate and berries - delicious! My favorite part is the jet tub (we got the deluxe room for 2 night) which I used constantly. It was so relaxing!! That's a major part I will miss.

Incredible. The staff were great, the room was phenomenal. The bathroom was to DIE FOR. I got the King Deluxe with the bathtub & jets. Absolutely perfect :) It's also located in a great place. Walkable to cafes, restaurants, Discovery Park, and the aquarium. Lots to do around!

This hotel was beautiful and possessed a history in its construction that was conveyed from the wall decor. Being a native from Houston, it was nice to stay at a hospitable location that was right next to an area where I grew up. Re-experiencing the Houston area brought back memories, and it was nice to stay in an environment that was friendly and fostered care into its customer's needs.

The building is an old bank but we'll renovated to a 5-star hotel. It has tall ceilings. Hotel personnel's are very nice and friendly. No pool though. Breakfast are available at the lobby. Loved our stay. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Amazingly and very annoyingly there are no microwaves in rooms and even in lobby
With babies it is real hell to live without microwave facility in winter
Design of rooms are quite old
You feel bit slow or should I say low (depressed) in rooms
Room fragrance is the only thing which is good

Classic look and feel as soon as you enter lobby. Rooms are generous and very well appointed. The luxury feel goes down to the spa and exercise rooms where it feels like a private exclusive membership club. The staff made me feel very welcomed and special.

I tried to call this hotel to ask for their rates for the night. The first time I called I could hear someone pick up the phone and hang up. The second time I called the lady answered by only saying "Hello". Now working in the hotel industry that is not a proper greeting at all. VERY RUDE! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! and just off that experience alone I would never consider staying with the Hotel Icon

Stayed a weekend at the downtown Houston location. Exemplary customer service. Very professional staff. Very clean and well designed rooms. Beautiful view of downtown area. Accessible to local eateries, banks and pharmacy. Great story of building's history. If possible I'd rate it 10 stars!

The hotel service is day and night. The front desk and valet service are excellent during the day. At night it's hard trying to find someone to help. The rooms are like the online photos. The bathroom is quite large. The hotel is near the Houston metro light rail and is just one minute away. Its a nice hotel to stay at. Overall I prefer the JW Marriott over this hotel.

Junior suite was clean, very spacious, extremely attentive staff. Close to many casual and upscale restaurants and attractions. Some of the rooms could use updating, shower leaked, hinges were rusty, bathtub was yellowing. But overall the room was beautiful and the view was gorgeous. The lobby was gorgeous and again, perfect customer service. Lovely place for a weekend getaway.

The A/C fan in the room sounded like a black hawk. Shower water couldn t get hot enough to take a comfortable warm shower. $40 for overnight parking.
The hotel itself had a decent esthetic, and the staff were friendly.

Beautiful iconic spot with charm and character. The doorman is a classic example of old school service, and he knows how to treat guests. Our room was on the 11th floor, and on a Friday night it was removed enough from the partying at the local bars and nightclubs that you could see the action but not hear a thing. The upgraded room is well worth it, such charm and class for the money is hard to come by. The oversized bathroom with separate soaking tub and shower with soft water was very nice. My only regret is we didnt get breakfast there, had a good friend recommend it after we left....oh well, theres always next time.
