Excellent location at Grand Canal (accessible by water taxi). Luxurious rooms. Breakfast buffet was not the best I had in Italy - nothing special in regards to fruit, cheese, or cold cuts - so it was clearly overpriced, but maybe that's just Venice.

Excellent hotel with great hospitality. Staff here are really professional. My husband took room here for my birthday, trip to Venezia. I'm very happy with the amazing flower gift I revived on my birthday from this hotel. Grazie mille !!

Traditional Venetian classic hotel. The room is a mini-museum itself. Quality of ervices are at what you can expect for 2k Euro a night hotel. Outstanding breakfast that sits right by the canal. Just classic every way you look at it. I'd highly recommend it.

To the unsuspecting..............expecting to pay circa 250euros for an awesome venue and food................the location is amazing but beware of the fish if the day it will bite you !!!! advertised at 25 euros we were told it was a sea bass and too big for one portion so my wife and I had the whole fish. When it came to paying we were shocked to find that we had been charged 150 euros for the pleasure. I don t normally write reviews but feel, with hindsight, we should have been told about the cost. I would use the analogy emporers new clothes about the Gritti palace - the food really was quite average and service efficient but a bit starched. The total bill with a cheap bottle of wine cane to 350 euros. We won t be going back. Notwithstanding it was a memorable evening !!!

We went to eat last night and we were treated like royalty! Not to mention the dishes ... exceptional! Congratulations to chef Matteo who knows how to give that extra touch that makes them unique. The palace then, with its view ... and its halls .. without words! Definitely an experience to be repeated.

A historic residence which went through a remarkable restoration to it's former glory, I am so happy we chose to stay at the Gritti Palace as it was the perfect place to start our Venice experience! As soon as you enter the quaint lobby to check in you know you are staying somewhere special! Waking up looking out to the canal and seeing the gondoliers starting their day was magical. We enjoyed both breakfast and early evening aperitifs on their beautiful floating canalside restaurant and it was so fun to people watch.

Our suite was just spectacular, with particular mention to the stunning marble bathroom! So many pieces of art and history on the walls in the suite and throughout the hotel. The staff were extremely personable and welcoming. It's all in the little details and everything about this hotel was outstanding! It was so convenient taking a private boat transfer from the hotel pier to the cruise terminal.

They know how to make you feel like royalty at this hotel and even if it's out of your usual budget, it's well worth the splurge for a special occasion! This hotel will always have a special place in my heart!

The interiors are really nice, stuff is polite, but whisky sour could really be a bit tastier for 23 Euros. I had more than enough alcohol, but tasted like a cheap drink in a semi-professional bar.

Not so sure what all the fuss is about. It s a lovely hotel but it s not flawless & for the prices they charge I was expecting more - although I understand that Venice is expensive. Rooms are small & some are very dark. First room they put us in had a very noisy air con unit outside. Asked to be moved - which we were, but no offer of a bottle or glass of something as an apology for the inconvenience. We would ve appreciated a gesture of a glass of bubbly. Breakfast was good, and the location is very good. Staff were pleasant but service was quite impersonal. I d probably give 3.5 stars if I could do so.

Iconic hotel with all the bells and whistles you d expect. Best breakfast in Venice. Cool bar with a great range of grappa, not cheap though, but there are genuine Pietro Longhi paintings hung on the plush walls albeit darkened by age.

Beautiful hotel, great cocktail, below average afternoon tea, rude and arrogant reception/concierge. When i wanted to give feedback to the reception, They were shocked and annoyed that i have "feedback". In a very rude manner and agressive tone, he challenged me "You want to complaint?! Is that what you want??" 5 star property with 1 star service. Worst service experience in my life.

Great location on the Grand Canal. Great view of the Canal and Santa Maria Basilica. The fact that the restaurant and bar have outdoor seating right on the Grand Canal is a great bonus. I don't think most hotels on the canal offer that, but I'm not sure. Tremendous, first class service from everyone from the "front desk" staff, to the concierges, to the restaurant staff. All as good as it gets. The Gritti doesn't actually have a Front Desk. It's a little better than that. You'll actually sit at a desk when you check in. That's a nice touch that seems to becoming a trend at the best hotels. "Front desk" staff, concierges, and restaurant staff all speak very good English. Apparently the hotel was renovated and reopened in Feb., 2013, so this was great timing for me (I visited in October, 2013). My room was on the top floor facing the Grand Canal, which was amazing. Honestly, it was kind of hard for me to leave the room because the gondola and Canal watching was so interesting from morning to night. My room wasn't huge, but the bathroom was actually very large. It had a separate tub and shower, which is hard to find in Europe. Very comfortable bed, very clean (with great daily service), and lots of light/lamps (sometimes hard to find in Europe). This hotel is well-catered to Americans, and it has everything that we expect. Not to sound snobbish, but if you're American and have travelled much around the world, you know what I mean. I.E. the shower heads are higher than five-feet, there are plenty of outlets in the rooms, and the breakfast buffet is much more "American" than Nutella and Muesli, to name a few things. I don't know if my other reviews of other hotels are viewable, but I have stayed at very nice places around the world, and I would put the Hotel Gritti Palace right near the top of the list of the best. It is not cheap (nothing is cheap in Venice), but the experience is worth the price. Highly recommend.

I really can't understand why this place is rated so highly. The rooms are very small (and I've lived and traveled in all the cities where this is the case but it's worse here). On top of that, the decor is hideous. I understand you want to include some Venetian touches but compared to other hotels in other cities where they do a great job of maintaining the local touch but update them to be tasteful (e.g. St Regis in Firenze), the Gritti Palace is some way behind. Our room had wall paintings because they were original and glass wall lights with murano glass, both of which made the room old-fashioned and ugly.
On top of that, the service is nothing more than OK and the hotel food is, just like most of the food we had in Venice, terrible.

The Gritti Palace Hotel is one of the most luxurious in Venice. It is located in the San Marco district, on the edge of the Grand Canal, in Santa Maria del Giglio street. A vapporetto pier is right next to the palace. Gondolas are also available nearby. From the hotel's balconies, one can admire the Santa Maria della Salute basilica located opposite, on the opposite bank of the Grand Canal. If you can afford it, it's certainly one of the best hotels in Venice.

A luxury house of special class right on the Grand Canal. The terrace is probably one of the most interesting and tranquil corners right on the water. Ideal to relax for an hour with a cool drink. But beware: very expensive! Here the drink starts at about 15.-Euro. Small but nice. Only a little over 30 rooms. The night (about 1,000.- per night) but so expensive, you come to think about it.

A legendary address in distress..

A legendary address in distress..
The view from the terrace remains one of the most romantic you can get in Venice. But you can t solely rely on it and since the hotel renovation the quality in all areas is down. Of course you shall expect an uncompromising price list to enjoy this view and have a taste of the legend but you can also expect excellent service and decent food. I guess in Venice it becomes every year harder and harder to avoid tourist traps and the Gritti used to be a sanctuary...
Go before sunset to have a drink and stay for dinner only if you re lazy and super hungry.
