WAO! The most beautiful hotel I ve ever been! The indoor patio concept is so elegant! I love the fact that, in every floor, we find something you don t see in others hotel. Small tables and chairs all along the hallways. There are many things in the 1st floor as a restaurant and a full bar, up on the 2nd floor there is a terrace and a self service coffee bar open 24 hrs., on the 3rd floor there is an open kitchen restaurant where you can see what they prepare with plenty space to seat and the hallway takes you to another hotel entrance/exit (picture #1). When you go to the 4th floor you find the pool, the hot tub, canopy and tanning chairs.
BUT, 2 big NEGATIVE things are that they have a pest control problem (on 2nd floor at least) and the A/C doesn t work properly, it doesn t get cold, looks like they have it controlled on 75.

Rooms are large and well appointed. Staff is friendly and helpful. Manager's wine and cheese reception is a nice get together for the guests. We bought a package which gave us a in room gift and $75 credit to the restaurant each night. The gift was forgotten (totebag) and we had to correct or bill too get the $75/night removed.

Great spot, great food! We had tapas in the evening on the patio during a rainstorm and enjoyed the manchego with truffle honey and tenderloin skewers. We did have to make it clear that we wanted booze in our drinks, but the bartender obliged and didn't charge additional. We tipped well! :)

I didn't personally stay here any nights. My reason for the review is in due part because I came here on a tour guide of Old San Juan architecture. This building is beautiful indeed. It has a lot of history to it's pass. Today it stands as one of many locations that is a must visit site or better yet. Try to book yourself a stay at this location.

An amazing hotel! Had my wedding reception here and our guests were blown away. The food was top-notch and the service was stupendous. A lovely rooftop pool has breath-taking views. Luis behind the bar is possibly the best bartender I have ever experienced. Bravo y muchas gracias!

Beautiful entryway with a nice terrace restaurant that servers good food. Small but decent white wine selection. The second floor bar is still closed for hurricane repairs, but better off than most other places. Rooms are spacious with nice tile work. The central courtyard is a scenic view.

I don't know where to start.. If you go to San Juan you need to stay at least 2 nights here. Great coffee and fruit is out 24/7, wine and cheese every night at 6, pulling service with chocolate, hot water and a bathtub (something we found to be rare)a beautiful room, the hot tub is great (alittle rough on the rear tho) the food from the kitchen is AMAZING. Every person working there is an all-star; kind, smiling, helpful. The ambiance is serene and intimate. I will be coming back indefinitely.

Absolutely fantastic hotel and staff! We were "wowed" when we arrived and saw the beauty of this historic building. If you're into architecture, art, and history, you MUST stay here when visiting San Juan. It was just gorgeous!

It was very easy to make reservations online, and Talana was very helpful emailing us in advance of our stay with ideas for activities and our need for dry cleaning. Upon arrival, Geida was helpful checking us in early, and even upgraded our room for us at no charge! She helped us get our drycleaning done in less than 24 hours, and gave us an overview of the hotel amenities and local area. I just can't say enough great things about their team - I was so impressed - thank you for the positive front-desk experience!

Our room was beautiful - very historic-looking - a king bed room on the 3rd floor, with a door that opened to the shared terrace where they have complimentary wine in the evening. The room had a desk large enough for us both to do our work. The TV/speakers had a plug so you could play your own music. The private bathroom with door had a very large sink space, and modern shower with rainfall head and a separate adjustable showerhead. We didn't figure out how to use the hot water, as it was backwards from what we're used to in the US.. you had to just turn it on a bit for hot, and then all the way to the left for cold. It also had a private walk-in closet with a door, desk space, hanging space, refrigerator, microwave, and safe. The foyer of the room was beautiful also.

Might be my favorite hotel yet, and we've traveled all over the World... I highly recommend!

We spent 10 nights there; the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We included breakfast in the room charge, it was a wise decision. Food can be overpriced in old San Juan, but the patio restaurant provided affordable and delicious options. I highly recommend the Mallorca pannini it is the perfect blend of sweet and savory for recovering from a late night of rum and salsa.
We had a fantastic time exploring old San Juan and the beaches of la Concha and the Courtyard Marriott. El Convento was the real star of our trip; it's beauty, service and privacy must be experienced first hand. If you're looking for a hotel that won't treat you like a number this is the spot for you; I couldn't be more pleased.

The rooms looks really cute, antique decoration, we chose a room with the bay view and it was worth it, beautiful views on day and night. You can see the boats from there. The food is good, a bit expensive though. Drinks were excellent! The rooftop pool and whirlpool was my favorite part. We had some good times in this facility, definitely coming back!

As a wedding photographer, Hotel El Convento is one of my favorite venues in Old San Juan to work at. There's a lot of reasons, but I'll list a couple:
The versatility: El Convento has so many different areas! From the indoor patio, to the terraces, to the Martorell room, to the big ballroom... there's something for all kinds and sizes of weddings.

The location: steps from the most scenic areas of Old San Juan.
The service: I get to experience first-hand the service of all venues, as I work hand by hand with their staffs all day. Hands down, El Convento has an amazing team that strives to provide a great service to the couples, their guests, AND their vendors.

If you want to take uber walk one or 2 blocks away because the taxi drivers are thugs and they break windows and take passengers out of the uber car. Take a taxi at your own risk. They are too expensive

If you re looking for a nice historical beautiful hotel in Puerto Rico/Old San Juan then this is the place for you. If you re worried about the effects of the recent hurricane don t be. We had plenty of free bottled water, electricity (no power outages), etc at least not in San Juan. And as the host at the hotel told us the sooner people return for tourism the sooner the economy will pick up which will help them out a lot. So do the people a favor and go visit Puerto Rico.

About Hotel El Convento
