A great hotel and smiling friendly service made our stay very enjoyable! Food tasty and clean rooms.

4 of us went there for a meal, 2 of the meals served were incorrect, salmon only partially cooked. Waiter just completely incompetent

Wir waren eine Woche in diesem Hotel und hatten die Panorama Suite mit eigenem Pool auf dem Dach gebucht. Das Hotel ist auf gar keinen Fall ein 5 Sterne Luxus Hotel. Bestenfalls ein gutes 3 Sterne Hotel.

We visited Asterion with our 3 children in September,it was a fantastic experience for the 5 of us because of the friendly atmosphere and location on the beach...Recommended destination "Paradise Beauty Spa" in the hotel area.Big thank you to the Spa therapist Faye for all the care. See u again.

An interesting place to relax. Very spacious rooms, great food, quite poor with pools, but enough. Service very nice and helpful, a pebble-sand beach like most in Greece, free beach chairs. I would recommend.

For people who love silence and a total room. The biggest advantage is the super cool service, good breakfasts, bad lunches, every other nice dinner. Comfortable mattresses, large rooms, average pool. It's a long way to the center of Platanias on foot, but the bus is close to only a piece of it. You have to reach it. Hotel for quiet.

The food wasnt much different same every day. The bar was half empty. The staff were very nice

Pleasant hotel and staff, food was ok and reasonably priced. About 1km walk to local shops, restaurants etc.

Beautiful hotel overlooking the crisp turquoise sea, welcomed like royalty, staff taking our luggage at the entrance of the hotel to our room, in addition to this perfect host, we were upgraded, the pool was clean, the buffet was not varied enough there was often the same main course, the gym is large and there is a choice, activity level the hotel offers what you need and its worth it.

-Posizione ottima per il parcheggio, per il silenzio (fuori dal casino di Platanias), per la spiaggia privata a disposizione.

- Personale molto gentile, cortesi, sempre pronti all'assistenza e di supporto in caso di problematiche.. noi siamo stati molto esigenti durante tutta la vacanza ma loro non ci hanno mai fatti sentire soli o non assistiti.

- Buona anche la palestra, con tutto quello che serve per allenarsi anche in vacanza.
- Tempismo: purtroppo con la nostra camera (403) c'era un problema di puzza che arrivava da fuori la notte, non permettendo di dormire. Abbiamo dovuto passare 2 notti prima di poter cambiare la stanza!

Had the junior suite with the private roof terrace pool and suite with the panoramic view.

Staff very friendly and helpful, buffet style breakfast and dinner which was nice a decent selection.

It's also a few feet from the beach you walk out the pool and a few meters it's the beach.... Nice clear water...

Gym facilities are here but they aren't for a serious workout more a cardio sesh...

Breakfast buffet great. Staff friendly. Weather top. Accessibility from Balos Beach, Saitan Limani Beach, Elafonissi Beach and Falassarna Beach with rental car tiptop. Cleanliness in the room, cleaning during the stay with room for improvement. For the price but a great holiday in Crete :-)

On to the beach with friendly staff !! Very close to the center of the vilage that you can find anything you need !! 800 metersto the west on the main road, from the main super market Synka and the tourist office Auto Motor Maleme for rentals, tours and transfers!!

They don't give you tap water only bottled water which you have to pay. Ridiculous...

Room was very clean, staff was always friendly and helpful, absolutely recommendable. There was a welcome bottle of sparkling wine and a late check out was possible, great.
A star deduction, since the meal times for me were a little too short. Breakfast until ten and dinner until 21.30. The buffet was very delicious and varied.

A very pleasant and quiet hotel. The pool is well-kept and the beach cleaned up. I have no objection to the service as both in the restaurant and at the reception. I recommend it with a clear conscience. During the stay, it was impossible to feel that the object was "overcrowded", on the contrary - it happened to have an exclusive swimming pool. A great place for people who want to relax and who like peace.

Amazing hotel, with great facilities at a very scenery place!

The hotel is not worth the money we gave for a suite and a private pool. The pool was in the sand (I don't think it has ever been cleaned), we didn't even use the so-called jacuzzi in the bathtub because the tubes that circulate the water were in the rust and the dirt. Overall the bath was not at all enjoyable. When we entered the room there was a fragrance of frankincense that stunned us and we opened windows to fade away and go to the most important. They gave us another room than we had asked for and when we went to the reception to resolve the issue the boss came and in a very rude way as not to care, he totally let us down saying he didn't know any of the 3 suites would be empty first. In conclusion, we recommend that photos on the Internet are not representative at all and the premises are old.

Very good hotel, all great but we found a small centipede that spoiled me a bit.

Quite a nice hotel. The welcome is cool. You can park your car just in front of the hotel. Quite a large building where you feel free and peaceful. The pool is of a medium size. It was enough & never crowded during the period where I was here. The biggest advantage is the direct access to the beach. Very nice beach by the way. The food is pretty good in general. I had breakfasts & diners (buffets). There is a bar permanently open to get drinks & snacks. Only issue is that you can hear all the hallways noise in your room & people sadly tend to speak very loud... but I guess that that s the issue with most of the hotels ...

This place was pulled down last year and is know the solimar aqua marine

A hotel with a very good standard. Rooms from smaller to large with a separate bedroom and a private pool / jaccuzi. Tasty meals. Sea and beach (pebble) close. Located off the beaten track but in the area there are shops and restaurants. recommend

Comfortable, quiet, very Greek neighbourhood. Empty but stone beach, there are better ones, sandy and with perfect view to an island, in Platanias 3 miles east. Your comfort depends on the room. Choose the ones on the 1st or 2nd floor with balcony view to the pool and sea.

Nightmare hotel worst five star hotel i have ever seen. For example , I got sick and my wife ordered food to me. Manager was unpolite to her and he said that if i m sick, i dont need food. We were all inclusive guests and paid also extra 5 because of that order to room. Incredible service. If you are sick in 5 star hotel no one will say, your man don t eat. I had to talked that manager but he said he will call police if i have problem and we are thrown out of hotel. I paid 3000 for 11 days and never seen act like this. Visited about 50 countries and at very good hotels. Rating is 0 and don t recommed this Crete #Asterionhotel for anyone.

Despite a very good hotel. The kind and helpful staff the only downside was the cleanliness in the room. Otherwise a nice hotel with good breakfast and dinner even the coffee was good! I highly recommend it to you.

Nice staff ,good location for trip to western sightseeing locations of the island. Wi-Fi in the room.Asterion, is a Five-Star Hotel, in perfect harmony with the Cretan environment right in front of the sea. Spacious and luxurious apartments, rooms and suites, promise a comfortable and memorable stay. Located in western Crete just 15 km west of the picturesque town of Chania, 27 km from Chania International Airport, just 2 km from the cosmopolitan Platanias resort with direct access to the sandy beach of Pyrgos Psilonerou.
Platanias beach lies about 4 km east of Rethymno Town. It is a beautiful sandy beach, open to the north. The beach is affected by summer winds, the so called meltemia. The beach is accessible by the local buses from Rethymno Town. Platanias beach is well organized and offers many accommodation options. The beach has several Greek taverns offering local food, drinks and the chance to enjoy yourself by the seaside.

For the first night we were having a small room for two while we were 3 people, the room had no AC aswell and we had to sleep with no AC, luckily the air from outside was pretty decent and cooling. The other day we got another room after talking to the manager, the reception seem to have no awnser for us and we only been able to change the room by the kind manager. One more thing to mention is the food. The food mostly was "ok." I always loved hotels foods but here I got disappointed, as a Jew who doesn't eat kosher it was pretty difficult to find something without pig meat, I personally don't mind eating but I don't like the taste. Other than this the place is very close to the sea and some rooms got private pools which are great. The staff other than the reception is amazing and polite. Understand English well and knows how to threat guests. All in all I give it a 3 star cause I got a bit disappointed from the food and the reception management.

Very nice hotel. I do not understand why there are bad reviews. This is of course not 5k on Turkish and Egyptian measures. But for Greece, all Pts is good.

So this is a place I would tell people to stay away...
The "sea side view" is bull! We booked sea side view and we got a small cold pool instead (the one you see in the hotel's pictures, looks nice in pictures but that's about it), when my wife went to ask for the proper room the response was "but you got a pool"!
Also from what I saw they have 2 or 3 rooms that are "sea view rooms!

The staff was less than helpful, felt even a bit rude! When you're speaking with them and one of their own colleague passes buy they interrupt your conversation and ignore you (to me that's just rude).

When dealing with them make sure you get a receipt (I had to pay for the safe key twice). Note I have stayed on 2 other islands and Athens where none of them required I pay to use the safe!

The only good thing was the night shift man at the reception. Really nice and pleasant...they should have him during the day!

The (American) breakfast is Not my Style and too Low quality for me (Just sugar-drinks, 5 Stars deserve fresh orange Juice or Minimum 100% orange Juice.

We did a school trip with my classmates and teachers! Luckily I have smart teachers and went through every room to note if there is something wrong for the time not found something, but there was a room that had a strong nasty smell, some rooms were dirty also circulated cockroach in corridors I did not give any significance because I say hotel is 5 . Later some girls were locked in the room and the hotel was responsible for the hotel if it was not my MY students would have been locked because they did not know anything! and their behavior was unacceptable because they brought my teachers to their limits but they kept the correct right attitude and unfortunately they were forced to pay their carpets !!

Nice facilities, friendly staff. Everything was as good as expected! Not a very 'central' location, though.

A very well-organized hotel, well-situated - for people wanting to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Quiet neighborhood. Very close to the beach with sun loungers available for guests free of charge. Atmosphere loose, helpful and friendly. Rooms clean, cleaned every day. Delicious food, great freedom in choice. Everyone will find something for himself. We heartily recommend!

We were staying at this hotel as a couple for a week. Everything was as advertised on their web site or better. The staff was friendly and helpful all the time. Breakfast and dinner buffer was great and reasonably priced. The hotel is directly on the seafront with a clean sand beach. There are sunbeds and umbrellas free of charge for hotel guests at the beach or the clean pool. The room was spacious and clean. Air conditioning and Wifi was working fine.
The hotel is perfect for some relaxing time or excursions. However it is a bit remote from the surrounding towns, a rental car is strongly recommended.
Prices for the room vary depending on time of booking, but are overall good for the overall hotel quality.

A very good choice for people who value peace and quiet. A hotel that meets the standard of 4 stars. Clean and nice. The advantage is the location directly on the beach. Waiter service is a bit crazy as it is with the Greeks. I would recommend!

An elegant, intimate hotel. Perfect for families with children. Rooms large, spacious, children's travel cots. A swimming pool with a children's section next to the hotel. A few steps to the sea, free sun loungers by the sea. Delicious and varied food in the restaurant. Service very nice. The area around the hotel is very nicely decorated.

Hotel is pretty and quite clean.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
They do not switch towles though and you have to ask for more soap beyond what you get for the first day. No conditioner.
No way to get to main road but cab or walking (15 min) no light on the road leading to the hotel at night.
Walls are very thin. Can hear everything from nearby rooms (every time a toilet flushes)

Hotel in a quiet part of Crete. Food ok. Spacious rooms. Near to the beach. It is a pity that the jacuzzi was turned off halfway through the stay.

I have been in this hotel for 3 days. I would recommend. Tasty food, clean rooms, everything is as it should be. Now in October there are not many people so over the pool and over the knife at any time are free chairs.

The hotel is quite small, but it is its advantage. Clean rooms. Close to the beach, where there are free sun loungers. A hotel with a family atmosphere. Delicious food, where everyone will find a dish for themselves, great soups. I wholeheartedly recommend.

A very good hotel. Right on the beach. Quietly. High-level service, bounce every customer, clean every day. In addition, the gym and swimming pool in the facility for me is a big plus. Large rooms. I liked the hotel very much. The room was spacious and clean like all its rooms, the noble staff, the breakfast was American only but everything was fresh and thoughtful. The only negative thing I have to say is a bad smell that exists in the surrounding area, but it was not noticeable in the hotel. You only understand it by going to the hotel.

The hotel remains a po'isolato (4km) from the village of Platanias and is attached to the beach. I enjoyed the food, the availability and kindness of the staff, strategic position to reach all the most beautiful beaches of the west, the size of the rooms (a real apartment). The pool is not great, as is the restaurant .. the hotel lacks a little 'personality.

At first glance the hotel looked very nice and made us expect a lot of it. But then we discovered a lot that we did not like. Initially, the hotel was supposed to have free Internet access but that was not the case since it was glueing continuously and we could not connect. The room door was broken as well as the bathroom. We found in the bathtub difference insects like spiders, cockroaches .... the staff was not terribly helpful. Children were locked out of the room due to a broken door and walked out of an adjoining balcony, then forced them to pay for the damage they did not.
