A very nice hotel that is connected to the famous Astoria Hotel. They both overlook Dr Isaacs Cathedral.

I like to sit by the window overlooking Isaac with a glass of Prosecco.

Breakfast with Isaac and customer care.
There was no hot water. When checking out said apologized and everything. Then the manager phoned, apologized very humanly, offered pleasant options for the future. Well done, confirmed a good impression!

Excellent hotel, quiet, comfortable, excellent service, bedroom view on St Isaac cathedral is really great and central location very convenient.
Very good breakfast with good coffee!
Just a minor remark, scrambled eggs and bacon were not warm enough.
What to say about the excellent strawberry cake left in the room by the hotel for my wife's birthday: very much appreciated gesture!!

I am here for the second time and one must say its a nice hotel to stay. The only reason why i gave 4 stars is because they have made zero or little upgrades on the interior of the hotel comparing to what i have seen in 2015. As for the location of the hotel its superb.

Unsatisfactory, the dough to carbonara did not arrive.

Wonderful hotel and high quality service. Stayed in Angleterre from 19th January to 21st January. A beautiful view from the room to St. Isaac's Cathedral. I would especially like to note the responsiveness of the receptionist named Maxim and the administrator (I forgot the name), who assisted in choosing a comfortable room at a good price. A pleasant impression remained. I recommend.

Treat their employees horribly, make them regularly work 100+ hrs overtime and don't pay them, refuse to let them leave the company when asked. Don't stay here if you care about worker rights

The hotel rooms were not, but the hall also shows that it is super! I usually go to the cinema. One of the very few cinemas where you can watch a movie in the original language with subtitles. And films are not only widespread, but also festival films, which is very valuable. Tickets are usually 350 rubles, any seats can be chosen

Lovely old school hotel favoured by expats in years gone by..Still has that old school charm including wineshop in foyer and onsite movie theatre showing Enlish language movies

Super location - walk to Nevski, 2min from Neva & spectacular view of St Isaak cathedral. Very convenient for tourist and business traveler. Great service and good restaurants (superb room service!).

Cute and elegant. Good breakfast, the only flaw the rooms are a bit cold in winter.

We rented a room for the wedding. I liked everything very much. Workers are always friendly and go to a meeting. They do not have rooms for newlyweds, but we wanted Angleterre, and that did not bother us. In the evening before the wedding, I noticed that the jacket was dirty it was already shining early in the morning :) there were only the most positive emotions and memories of the hotel!

Everything is good in this hotel, the rooms, though not large, but comfortable. There is a spa, again small, and a swimming pool (cold water). Restaurant of Italian cuisine, but delicious. Certainly a glaring view of St. Isaac's Cathedral. But the renovation of this hotel would not hurt. Need to change.

A beautiful hotel! Price policy is clear and equal! Staff is great! The location and views do not raise the same! There is good parking, but Angleter is easy to reach by public transport!

Real crooks. They made me a non-luxurious room of 14m2 about 24000 usd the evening of France Belique.

Overall quite comfy and with great service, but the hotel bar was a complete disappointment

Spacious comfortable rooms, the most central location of the hotel, classy staff, breakfasts are not cheap, but very plentiful and tasty, I would probably like only more soundproofing in the rooms.

I recommend visiting the "Happiness" cafe. There is a small cinema in the hotel building.

Very clean Hotel with big rooms. Perfect view to square and Saint Isaak's church if you choose front rooms!! And you are in the center of the city!! Just a breath to find and see what you like!!

Lovely hotel, class location, value for money, the heating systems in the room etc are top class. The breakfast spread is good and the Italian food in the restaurant is top notch a must try ! All in all a value for money property in St. Petersburg ! The view from my room was stunning ! The water has a high Iron content and it first comes a bit brown in the taps, this was a concern though as I haven t seen a 5 star hotel with this kind of water quality.

Great hotel, great location. The only negative is that, like a lot of older hotels, there's a lack of places to charge your electronics. Below, view of St Isaac's out the hotel window.

Convenient location. Major attractions within walking distance. From the windows of most rooms there is a view of St. Isaac's Cathedral. The rooms are small but cozy and have everything you need. Excellent unobtrusive service. The staff is polite and respectful. The price is consistent with the quality. But do not look for the number in which the life of Esenin ended; after reconstruction, it no longer exists. Very decent breakfasts. The concierge will provide tickets for almost any event.

Good hotel, there is a pool, gym, sauna. Tasty breakfast in the morning. And is in the heart of the city

Not bad, the only problem may be with the keys, but they can be easily solved at the reception, and if you find it difficult to walk, then ask for a number closer to the elevator, it is one, and the hotel goes along the wrong rectangle and may be far from the elevator, in the photo standard room with a view of the courtyard, and the hotel hall

Right opposite St Isaac's Cathedral in central St Petersburg and short walk to Winter Palace. Amazing hotel with friendly staff and great breakfast

I was in Anglaterre before in 2015. My stay was wonderful.
However, this time, the experience was totally different. This definitely not a 5 star hotel. Maximum a mediocre 4.

Cons:

- The reception people, to be honest, not very friendly for a 5 star.
- The room (271) needs a renovation.
- Smell to stagnant water in the bathroom.
- I killed two bed bugs (one had already bitten me - see in pic). Looked for more after but didn't see more, but found out that the mattress was very old when removed the bed sheets.

Pros:
- Location.
- Decent breakfast.

Great locations, but rooms are slightly dated, would opt for Astoria next door if prices are similar

Nice place, kind staffs, housekeepers, good interior, everything was good but red hot water from showerhead and water tap, when i turned on it first. However, as far as i know it is not the problem of this hotel, but of this old city, whole Petersburg.

Friendly, polite staff. Clean, comfortable rooms in soothing colors. The feature of the rooms is the pillows on the windowsills so that you can sit and admire the view - test

Really friendly, outgoing staff made my stay a real pleasure. My room was of an excellent standard and the buffet breakfast offered an excellent variety of foods! It's very well situated right in the centre of the old town, within relatively easy walking distance of many attractions

Very central, elegant hotel, next to StIsaak Cathedral. You can enjoy sitting in the windows of your room and watching the scenery. The breakfast offers a big variety, nice stuff.
