Horse and Angel Tavern Review

For having a location at the intersection of several neighborhoods, I would expect a more family oriented sports bar. Minors are not allowed in after 6 pm.

It is impossible to imagine this bar and restaurant is rated so poorly. Excellent food and service in a great neighborhood setting. Highly recommended

Ive been waiting here for an hour and i still havemt been served.

The wings are rotisserie and non breaded fried and delicious.

This place is very hit-and-miss. I very rarely get good service here, but it's usually the food that keeps me coming back. There is one occasion where my chicken parmesan sandwich came out cold. I'm pretty sure this was due to lack of service and her attention to us and checking our order. The other times I've gone the food has been good. It's more so the service that keeps me from making this a regular Hangout.

We really enjoyed having dinner there. Staff very friendly & the food was very good. Generous portions. We will revisit

Love the decor and we have been here a few times. Service continually gets worse. Tonight it took about 45 min to get a burger. Hardly any one in the place. 9:00 on Sat evening. Not like it was happy hour. Too bad, cause I like this place and come here when I'm in the neighborhood. I live about 20 miles from the restaurant. Think I will find a new neighborhood restaurant.

Food is pretty good but the service was lacking pretty much every time I went there. Thus the two stars.

My wife and I have been coming here for 13 years. Good food - including the best nachos in Albuquerque. Prices are reasonable. Except on Friday and Saturday nights, it is generally quiet enough to actually have a dinner conversation without yelling at your companions to be heard. Servers are always friendly.

One of my favorite watering holes. The staff are nice, and there are many TV's to watch your favorite sport programming that DirecTV doesn't black out in our area. There are around 30 beers on tap of great selection. The food is absolutely fantastic, as well.

My wife and I went there for dinner and a drink. After sitting there for around 15 minutes with no service I went and found the manager. He was one of the employees that walked past us without saying a word. This place used to be a greatplgrea but it has really gone down hill. It will be awhile before we go back.

Saturday night and the place was about 60% capacity. The service was S L O W. Like 15 minutes for 2 bottled beers slow.

Drinks and food that is terrible for you but just what ya need when drinking or after a hard workout, that's for sure!

A laid back bar that actually has some pretty good food. Have a great selection of beer on draft and they also like to carry local beers. It can get a bit too loud to have a conversation as i feel the tables are so close together. Will be going back for sure.

went in to get something to eat after a motorcycle ride. First time 4 me unfortunately after about 20 minutes nobody came out to take my order so I left definitely looks like a nice place was pretty clean and didn't smell like a bar so that's good

Very friendly wait staff who let us enjoy the game... and they put the game on the tv where we could see it best. Lots of selection on the menu.

So bummed to have to write my first not-so-great review...
I moved very close to this place and was excited to think I'd have a relaxed bar to hang out at on my free time. The food is quite good, the atmosphere is nice as well, especially if you are into sports.
However, the service is the absolute worst. Whether you come in when the place is nearly empty, or totally packed, you will probably have to wait 20 minutes just to be greeted and have your drink order taken. I've never seen more than two servers walking the floor at any given time, even on game nights when the place is slammed. Once you put your food order in you can expect to wait another 40 minutes, even if you order a salad or something very basic.
Please add more staff to your business. The food and drinks are great and this place really could be so much better.

I really like this tavern. Good selection on menu and bar, nice atmosphere and the tables aren't so close together that you feel like people are breathing on you or listening into your conversation like other bars/brewy,
I've never had a bad meal, everything thing is fresh and delicious. I would recommend not going during high traffic hours because it can be a bit of a wait on your food, but other than that I will continue to frequent H&A Tavern.

The staff is wonderful, and have never failed to make me feel welcome and taken care of. The food is great and the prices are great. Especially for the area.

There is also a superb selection of liquors and such. If they don't have what you want, I don't think anyone will.

Terrible service. I ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out medium well. I let the "manager" know about it but I told her that I didn't want to remake it because I didn't want them to throw it away and waste food. The server never once came by to check on our table to refill our drinks and only asked about them after they dropped our food off. I had to physically go up and ask for the check to cash out. I let them know that I was also a server and that I always tip 20% and that I'm big on customer service. They were extremely rude to me after saying this and asked me to leave. They stated that I had been rude to the server when I never really had an interaction with her to begin with. I will never go to this establishment EVER again. Poor service = No tip.

Worst food ever. What happened to the food? Six months ago it was really good. I used to go in the evening and before in the day and the food was really good and fast. Now the food is waterery and microwaved. Nothing is fresh anymore. Get your old cook back. He was the best one you had. Never coming back. Nor any of my friends.

Great spot for a beer with friends and family. Highly recommend everyone is friendly.

We've been coming here for years and always had great food, good service, and a fantastic selection of many different types of draft beer. It's hard to imagine what all these negative comments are referring to.

I get the fish and chips every time, they are delicious. Great service every time!

We have eaten here many time and this time in no exception to a great experience. They up"d there game with the outdoor misters and air conditioners. The food and service were outstanding.

Usually get no problems here but tonight i was wrong. Excited to bring my girlfriend who has an out of state ID (vertical) but she s 24. Her state doesn t require you to get a horizontal until your vertical expires, nonetheless she s still of legal age. Immediately had issues with the manager about not accepting verticals.

Synopsis: don t bring out of state friends/family that are of legal age here because they won t be served.

The manager was exceptionally rude, the service was bad, they never offered to refill our drinks or water, the food came late and when it finally came, it was cold.

Honest waitstaff..dropped my buffalo chicken sandwich, let me know. A 5 minute longer wait. It's all good. ...watching OU trounce WV.

Had lunch there yesterday. First day back with patio open. Expected to wait at the door, but was seeted immediately. Their take on the BLT was great. Will return.

They gave my card to another person and then told me to cancel my card. Not even an apology.

Food was good, but do not go with large group. We were a group of 36 and they knew we were coming. 24 had okay service. Rest of us waited over an hour with no apology for the slow service?

Cozy, lively atmosphere for a meal, beer and friendly staff. I came in last night with my husband for a quick bite (since I was starving). We sat at the bar, both of the young ladies said hello as we sat down. I ordered a chicken quesadilla while my husband looked over a beer list. (I was really hungry!) Quesadilla was great and came out pretty fast. We joined in talking to two younger guys near us and the bartender. It was such a lively, fun conversation about 80s and 90s haircuts, cars, etc. The other bartender and the manager joined in later to talk about those childhood haircuts and cars. We live close by so we will definitely come back again.

Great draft selection, great chili (green of course) and great fish and chips. Would have loved to sample more from the menu, but ran out of room. Our server was great, did not miss a step. Overall, a fun and filling experience.

This is my favorite place to go eat and grab drinks with friends! I had a great time and my server was amazing; she made sure I was taken care of and noticed when my drink was low. Amazing food and good atmosphere.

Service is bare minimum, waitresses are offputting. If you're a local middle aged alcoholic, this is the place for you.

We'd checked this place out online before we travelled to ABQ and added it to our place to go list.
To our surprise we'd met some friends we know and yep we ended up here as it turns out it was there local to!
Great American styled pub, the staff where very welcoming and helpful, speedy and polite, great selection of drinks. The food was great to, we had a selection and enjoyed it all. The wings are great along with all the other dishes.

Amanda was one of the best bartenders I've ever had. She knew how to make an old fashioned unlike any other I've had! Had a great attitude and friendly face! Can't wait to go back again!

One of my top places for tasty Bar food. came in on a weds. the place has a great atmosphere. similar to a place in denver i liked.

I had a blast there! The food was delicious and the drinks were awesome! Ask for Amanda, Alexis, or Steph! They were all totally amazing! Oh and try the steak!

Great drinks nice atmosphere. Servers seemed a little overwhelmed I attribute that to the changes because of the pandemic they seemed to be a little stressed trying to juggle all the new requirements and the new way they serve outdoors only. Food was very good the menu had a lot of choices and had signature dishes that sounded amazing. I had shrimp cocktail and Dirty Martini's for beverage. The drinks were spot on and the food was perfect. I recommend trying this venue.
