Homes by Avi (Canada) Inc. Review

Poor quality, they cut corners building townhomes in Aspen Woods and are refusing to fix deficiencies. Decks do not meet ABC 2014 and need to be redone. Garage doors were supposed to be stained before installation but were not and are now rotting, it's only been 3 years. Concrete all around the complex is deteriorating. Eavesthrough were not installed properly and are leaking. They are not honoring new home warranty and have terrible customer service.

I bought with Homes by Avi just this year and the sales people were wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful, and were able to answer all of my questions. The place is stunning and has great use of space - I couldn't be happier!

We've purchased our second home with Homes by Avi. The purchase process went smoothly. All our questions were always answered. Homes by Avi have a great team of professionals, who are willing to help and support you. The quality of the materials is really good and only small touch ups were needed after one year of possession.
We are really pleased with the company and that's why we've decided to build again with them. I would recommend the company as a professional builder.

I'm shocked of their staff attitude. Called in today to get some questions answered and the guy didn't bother even and just hung up on me!
When Morrison and Calbridge were still building in Mahogany, they were building a house with basement developed for $670K and now because only they are left with lots they build with $700K and no basement. No wonder you are still having lots available comparing to other builders! No wonder why people living in Mahogany always complaint about the poor quality of your houses and how you don't care about them once they move in!

It's your staff that are disgusting and make customers go away.

Invest in your staff and teach them how to treat customers and what customer service means!

I'm not sure who does the hiring at this company but they need some coaching.

Our new house has water leaks in the roof and we keep being brushed off. Our master bedroom is freezing cold, i doubt there is sufficient insulation

They won best builder like 5 years ago and we build our home with them, after living in the house for a few years then i noticed how badly build the house is, and we are immigrants so we dont know the small little details about the house like when u have to not close ur blind all the way during winter so the water condensation didnt get trap, we got no such thing in asia, and they didnt tell us about it during the possesion date + they use to worst lawyer ever, how can the lawyer accidentaly tore a cheque and blame it on us?!?!?! The sales manager refused my offer by say that it's too low and she needs to educate me by refusing my offer .I don't know where she received her training from....but there's something called counter offer. She was soo rude and unprofessional. We are a potential buyer we placed that offer based on the excess housing inventory. So please homes by Avi re-educate your sales people or you will go out of business.

Bought a home from these cowboys never again warranty non existent, Alberta New home Warranty the same, the quality of workmanship on some items appalling. These people once they have your money don't care. Utter Garbage

I visited the Tuscany show home twice in the past two days; once by dropping in and once by appointment. Both times the show home employee's did not take us seriously or accommodate us. It was exceptionally a negative experience when we booked a showing of the spec house and the staff did not check that it was being painted and we were not allowed to view it. This could have easily been avoided and another viewing time scheduled.

The experience wasted 2 hours of our time commuting and gave us a very negative initial perception of Homes by Avi.

This is probably a blessing in disguise as other reviews state this builder does not do quality work on their homes. So 1 star rating for dodging a bullet.

the quality of my new house from AVI are very bad. just recently, i found water leakage down to the basement just because a wet wiping cloth was dipping a bit of water to the main level floor.
As i did not know what was covered under warranty, i sent them an email to ask. However, it took more than 5 days to get a response from them.

My friend purchase "Homes by Avi" and had outstanding experience !!! He too old to write review. Warranty was about to expire and had 1 issue and call them. They show up and fix 3 issues that my friend didn't notice!

I received a flyer regarding a promotion on houses built by builder. So, I checked the website, found the same promos but nothing was mentioned about any community. I called the head office and they were also not sure, then I was told that the promo is till Christmas and it is only valid for 2-3 commutes in Calgary. I literally called every community they are building and their area managers literally had no idea.
One of them told me that I should not believe everything that is marketed.
So, it means that we cannot believe what this builder is promoting. Could be just a cheap tactic to generate more phone calls.

I can only comment amount their town homes. The build quality is mediocre. They do walk the talk when it comes to warranties, their staff responds to emails and someone typically shows up within several weeks to take a look. Windows could be better. Heating system is simply insufficient, good luck heating all the rooms when it is below -20 outside. They do not insulate and drywall the detached garages. Landscape and fence may take up to a year to complete, weather permitting.

I would recommend Homes By Avi if you are a first time home buyer as they have good options in new neighbourhoods for people with limited budget. But don't expect premium quality, you simply get what you pay for.

I could say a lot of positive things about my Avi experience. I will try and keep it short.

The GC was one of the most detailed people I've met. He was finishing things prior to possession that I hadn't noticed. I have a lot of respect for his work ethic and attention to the little things. Thank you Scott.

I think the most interesting common thread I discovered with Avi through this experience, is how long many of their employees have worked there. It's a testament to the quality ownership and leadership, this company is run by. Thank you for building my kids and I a fantastic new home!

Cositas on February 2020 as a walk in customer. Danielle was working that afternoon and even though they were closing 20 minutes before , she was super attentive and let us do the walk on one of the houses. She answered most of our questions and because she was not there full time she suggested to pass the info to Michelle Ponce. The houses are a bit on a high 500 s but she mentioned that they will be having some family homes in the low 400 s. The houses look amazing and the designs are modern but homey at the same time, less of a cookie cutter type of homes. We still need to ask more questions but so far we were happy we stopped by.

I bought my first house from homes any Avi in prospect hill NW. Never again will I choose this builder, hands down they're the crappiest builder in Calgary. All my neighbours have nothing but problems and we are all first time home buyers.

Make sure you read every terms and conditions before signing a contract with them. Very difficult to ask the builder to follow up defects. Don't trust their techs or contractors, they are making up excuses not to follow up defects.

I purchased a condo from Avi Urban and it was an amazing experience! From the sales representative, to my beautiful home and the community within the building. The quality is great (short of the paint), and when I have needed any sort of minimal warranty work Don did an outstanding job! The only feedback I have is the developer should have been more proactive when developing downtown and included the level of security required.

We built a home with Avi almost 2 years ago and I keep forgetting to write a review! They were great to build with and any issue we had, they have come out to deal with it and continue to do so. We appreciate the super friendly and helpful sales people in Kings Heights (thanks Ashley!!!) and everyone who worked on our beautiful home from start to finish!

Purchasing the house was a great experience. The staff onsite at the show home were knowledgeable and nice, very attentive.

However, when it was time to take possession of the house, there were many minor deficiencies. To state a few: two lights were not installed and two pendant lights that were installed were different, there was a few walls that were missing paint and/or painted poorly, and the weather stripping around the garage was warped (that's only to name a few issues). Some deficiency repairs have been completed and some are still outstanding.

I believe that if Homes by Avi communicated some of these deficiencies before we took possession, we wouldnt be so upset. And then trying to make us sign off as if everything was OK was completely inaccurate. I have still not signed off on my house and it's been 3 months.

Needless to say, once the house was purchased, the line of communication and the lack of accountability from Homes by Avi was very unprofessional and their trades thinks it OK to disrespect you in your own house.

Although they do build beautiful houses, their employees tend to lack in professionalism. If I had the chance to start again, I dont think I'd build with Homes by Avi.

We had a very good experience buying our home from Homes by Avi. every single piece our our purchase was great, the quality of materials used, the quality of services provided by Homes By Avi representative (Michelle P.) was awesome and made our purchase experience certainly a good one, the after-sale experience has been amazing, all the great support provided from the time we moved in and everything in general made our life much easier and a truly great experience. Thank you to all the Homes by Avi Team.

We had our home built in 2016. since we have moved in we have had several issues with our roof leaking. Every time it leaks, we have called Avi for assistance. They have come out days later saying that it was just attic rain. We are getting water pouring in through the attic hatch. This is the only spot where there is water damage on the ceiling. We have put large plastic tubs up in the attic and catch cups of water. It is always in the same spot. We had a roofing company come out after several calls to Avi. They found a bad seal on the vent pipe and replaced it. The roof is still leaking.
The warranty repair man for this area has refused to assist us and to come out. The lack of customer service and care that we have received and have gotten is terrible. I am very unhappy and regret going with this company to purchase a home.

Worst customer service. First the area manager livingston Reg told me that i might get selection center allowance up to 7500 we submitted our offer with 10000 of selection center allowance he became so rude with me a started arguing with me and told me he is not gonna place my offer to head office after 30 mins of fight he finally said he will put this offer and 4 or 5 days after sent an email that head office rejected the offer because there is no allowance on selection center for featured homes. He didn't knew that before when he told us that we might get allowance of 7500. The guy wasted my 2 weeks don't go there all you will get is rude behaviour and lies. I am not even sure he submitted my offer to head office or not.

We got our house built in 2018 and we were quite disappointed with AVI. Apart from minor issues during construction, our biggest problem was the stone color of our house. We wanted ours to look like one of the showhomes (but not AVI) so Sales helped us on picking the closest color based from a catalogue (since it was different supplier). Turns out the actual looks nothing like the one on the catalogue. Not to mention, we are very picky with color as we paid $4k on premium dark vinyl siding which basically has the same material as the normal siding. AVI(sales/contractor) AGREED that there was a discrepancy between the actual and from the catalogue so it was brought up to management. Then they PROMISED it would be fixed 2-3 weeks after possession. It s been 7 months and now they come back and basically said that s what we ordered on paper and if we want to change it, we would have to pay it ourselves. This is coming from the GM. Bunch of liars!

I booked my home in Livingstone with AVI. I was given possession two weeks ahead of scheduled possession. The work quality is really great. AVI in Livingstone community do not provide Sod for front of house and sales team may not mention that at the time of booking so make sure you include it in your purchase agreement else they they wont do it, no matter the price of home.

Our experience working with Homes by Avi, but specifically Cory Ferguson and Nicole Cantlon has been top notch. Gratitude is something that can t be overstated. There are a ton of moving parts with a new build, particularly when you change the standard plan. A high level of stress/anxiety comes with trying to stay on top of the details for people who don t live in this world daily. We just wanted to say thanks again for the care, attention and how you guys go to bat for us! Shelley and I have high praise for you both. Thank you!

Honestly the worst decision my wife and I ever made was buying a homes by Avi home, poor quality worse customer service when dealing with their warrenty department none of my concerns were ever fixed properly and just 4 years in nothing but issues with my windows and doors. Save yourself find another builder I wish I did.

we recently purchased our first home in Canada through Homes BY AVI and the over all experience is top notch. I don't have any complaints about the process nor their quality of service, especially Reg Lee from Livingston area is so patient in clearing our enormous amount of questions.

They have several new designs which can greatly fit for any family depending up on their budget. They have more additional features as part of the house without any extra cost at which you don't get from other builders.

they are more detailed about living area, size of your stairs and several new technologies which can help to purify your home inside air quality and so on. I would recommend their house plan for sure.

We absolutely love our Avi home! We had an exceptional experience building with Homes by Avi about three years ago. The communication and information we received from start to finish was consistent every step of the way. We felt confidence in choosing them to help us with the biggest financial decision of our lives to this point.

We always felt like we were in good hands, from the first walk through the Walden show home, to selecting a model and lot, going to their selections centre and choosing all of our options with an in-house designer, through the construction phase and then lastly, participating in our final walk through and possession. Every step of the way, they did exactly what they said they would do Which is seemingly hard to find these days!

The construction was right on time, and any deficiencies that arose throughout the build process were dealt with in a timely manner. We believe we received great value for our money with Homes by Avi and have full confidence in continuing to recommend them to our friends and family. My brother and his wife and (newborn) bought with Avi and will be moving into the neighborhood in the spring!

Avi was good during the buying process and during the one year follow up after possession, after that they treat you like garbage. I had issues that I tried to get resolved, once my phone calls went unreturned, and another time was told "too bad " in a round about way. Wouldn't recommend falling for the fake smiles at the beginning, they don't care about you or standing behind their product.

I'll never forget when they washed their hands of ripping off a student for working one summer.

Homes By Avi built my first home 13 years ago, planing to have them built my next home.

For a new (early 2019) home in Belmont, although the builder touts energy efficiency they are installing incandescent lights (which have been banned from being manufactured or imported into Canada since January 2015) with the excuse that a) The package does not come with lights and b) their supplier has a large stock of incandescent lights. In both scenarios they did not inform the buyers beforehand. Also if a) is true, then leave the lights out to start with and let buyers take possession of a house without lights. This is a very underhanded approach to business.

AVI is a very reliable and professional company, made us feel very comfortable with the process of owning a home. Lenka did a good job and made us family. Thanks guys!! Great job.

I wish to give even negative star if its possible to this guys I bought home with this guys before two months in Walden and since then I have found tons of issues, they use very very poor quality material and there service is very very bad. I am keep calling those guys to fix all the issues but don't know when they will come or even they will fix it or not. I will say never ever buy home with this guys

I wish I could give -5 stars. The worst home build that Calgary has to offer. With all the issues I had since the long progress of building this place, now I have to book an inspector in for the final inspection on electrical for the garage that we took possession on last May. Never will I buy from them again.

We had a fantastic experience building with AVI! Susan and Anita in the sales team, Joanne in the selection centre and Robin in the construction team are truly exceptional! We're very excited to move into our first home and we're proud to call ourselves AVI home owners.

After Reading all the Reviews, I personally feel it s better not to buy from Avi Homes.

One ADVISE for all...Please avoid them at all. So i am writing this review after buying a home with them and getting really disappointed with their level of service from all levels of management and maintenance. Biggest concerns are faulty design, no shades on entrance door, will ruin your day with snow blocking your main door and fells in, when you open the door is just one example. The quality of material is so cheap that in few months you will realize how bad their standards are, whether its electrical wiring, standard of building material and fixtures. All they do is to save money. After sales they will leave you on your own. They will try their best to blame everything on home owners and let them figure out everything. Like many other reviewers i would everyone to avoid them. In six months after my purchase i am waiting for right time to sell it and move on with better builder. Wish there is minus rating.

We are planning on purchasing a home in 2020, but the reviews I read for this home builder, signals a red flag for us.

I had a fantastic experience building with Homes by Avi. Not only were they price competitively, but had a much higher specification than the competition and have a much better reputation as a quality home builder. I would highly recommend them to all of my friends, family and clients!

We had a great home buying experience Debbie and Lori at the Belmont show home answered our questions and we re so lovely. They had great email responses and made the whole process seamless for us. We could not be more excited about the quality and design of our home.
