Holiday Inn, Ithaca, NY, US Review

Nice clean hotel. Quite new. The only problem is the noise level. The building material seems a bit weak. People walking upstairs & outside, vacuuming next door, & all the traffic outside can clearly be heard. If you have trouble handling the noise like I do, you better ask for room facing the back. We did use the pool but had taken a look. Seems very nice also. There doesn t seem to be enough parking space for everyone, but on non-busy day should be fine. They also have coin laundry.

Very good location with lots of good places to eat nearby. Short drive from falls and Cornell. Hotel looks new and staff was very friendly. Shootout to Sandy in charge of breakfast in the morning , very friendly and makes your morning with welcoming you. Great choices of items in breakfast.

Shower didn't have hot water. But everything was clean and neat

Nice rooms. Lounge area downstairs was bright, spacious and the perfect spot to eat some take out food in.

Location was not exactly close to any things. The rooms were fantastic! Beds were comfortable, and everything was super clean. The guest services were incredibly helpful.

I decided to stay here after getting caught in a thunderstorm while on a motorcycle trip and the front desk staff was extremely accommodating.
Thanks! The hotel seems new and my room was immaculate. Breakfast was typical for what you expect from this level of hotel but the pancake making machine was fun to use and the coffee was good.

This looks like a newer hotel. Two huge beds....my friend had to get a stepping stool from the Front Desk in order to get on her bed but we both agreed it was the best night's sleep in a hotel we have had in a long time. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the shower was roomy. The room has a fridge, a microwave and coffee machine. We were also able to control our heat/air from the wall unit. The pool is a heated salt water pool with easy walk in, perfect for kids or if you need the easy access.

Clean well maintained wonderful rooms courteous service polite and quiet.

Travel all over Southern and Central NY for work I have to say that this hotel is by far the best I have ever stayed at.
All the employees are extremely attentive, kind and courteous from the time you walk in till you check out.
If only all the hotels had their personalities when it comes to customer service!

Standard issue Holiday inn Express. New hotel with clean rooms and modern decor. Fairly sterile with the minimum you need. Wifi was a bit week on the second floor. Standard hie breakfast.

Our bed was delightfully comfortable and the shower/bathroom was really nice! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room rate was reasonable and they have plenty of parking space.

Beds comfortable and towels thick enough, but come - on this place is a real drag on a Sunday night after an 8 hour drive and a fickle sciatic nerve.
I support HIE but this place blows compared to every other HIE I ve visited. Mgt should step it up!

Comfortable. Quiet. Affordable. Immaculate. Decent complimentary continental breakfast. Only complaint was the terribly uncomfortable bed. The person I shared the room with felt differently, but I barely slept.

Holiday Inn Express in Ithaca, NY was an excellent place to stay while visiting wineries at the Finger Lakes. It is situated between Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake and was very convenient for day trips to either side of the lakes. The room was very clean and fresh. The bed is high, so if you have hip problems, ask for a lower style. It was very quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are fine for continental. We would definitely go back.

I am a short woman with a bad back. The beds are so tall I had all I could do to get into one. The shampoo and body wash dispensers were empty. All lights had to be on to use one. Two handicap spots were located in front. The rest were on the side, leaving one to climb the stairs. It was clean but that is about all I can say for it.

This is the BEST hotel staff you will find anywhere, at any price. Nicely renovated rooms, comfortable beds, really terrific breakfast but it is this staff that made all the difference. Make this your home away from home in Ithaca every time!

We have stayed here before and it was great but the way this team, led by Mike Mershon & Courtney Efrasmson, hosted the families celebrating Cornell's May 2018 graduation was off the charts fabulous! They places roses all around in Cornell's colors, welcomed us with pastries as we checked in, had little gift bags in the room with chips, water and a candy. The breakfast team, just WOW! Thanks to April and Juria for the delicious berries, little veggie egg white omelettes, and all the cereals, breads, pastries... the variety was not at all your standard 'complimentary buffet.' Thanks to Mike, Courtney and the entire front desk staff for making our weekend even more special :-)

Fire alarms kept going off and staff were loud in the hallway when we were trying to sleep

Modern and clean with excellent beds and comfortable pillows! Loved our stay there!! Breakfast was decent: given the pandemic, process for serving was in place to separate guests and still maintain quality service to guests.

Got a room that was unusally moist. Otherwise the facilities are nice.

Newer hotel just south of Ithaca. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was still provided but not buffet style due to Covid restrictions. Buttermilk Falls state park is .5 miles away and lots of good options for food within a short drive

Nice clean good amenities. Breakfast included with your stay. Indoor pool 3 to 5 feet deep. Clean well groomed rooms. Free parking on premises. Reasonable for its convenient location near the Buttermilk Falls area.

This place was fantastic. The service was great. Even though they had some issues with the key card for the rooms we had a tech immediately repair the issue. Had all of our bags and couldnt get in the room. The tech spent a few minutes to repair the issue and even said that he could get us another room quickly. I was very impressed with the entire staff as well as the facility. Its location puts you 10 minutes from supermarkets to the state parks. I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

Rooms have paper thin walls. Felt like I was sleeping in the middle of the road the traffic was so loud. Rooms are spacious with mini-fridge and micro. Fitness center is weirdly in the middle of the lobby. Parking lot is in back and hard to get to almost all rooms from there.

I'm a Platinum member, called for a room for Thurs to Fri(one night.) Cornell is graduating on Sunday, they still had rooms available, yet they still jacked up the prices to $185 per room for no reason(they weren't close to sold out) I asked for deferment/offset as I wasn't part of the college, in Ithaca for one night on business, my IHG account reflects that activity weekly. The manager Matt M wouldn't budge, they offered a do me favor rate of $157 which was still not acceptable. I'll never stay at that hotel and I'm going to build up my Hilton Honors points. That was an easy fix and, perhaps, personal hubris prevailed over Platinum member loyalty....and I will respond in kind, thanks HIE Ithaca. Bye

The hotel was very conveniently located near Robert H. Treman state park where my family and I had gone hiking/swimming in the morning. The room was ready to check in to when we arrived at 3 pm. The hotel and the room was clean and quiet. We got to enjoy the heated indoor pool all by outselves. Continental breakfast had many options, such as cereal, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, fruit, eggs, bacon, toast, etc. There was a pancake maker too! Would definitely stay here again.

I do not usually write reviews. However, this situation warrants it. We had a confirmed reservation at the Holiday Inn Ithaca. Our credit card was charged, but when we arrived, the desk clerk told us that they were booked and did not have a room for us. It was late in the evening and we had driven several hours from out of town. There was no manager to be found and noone to help us find a room or come up with a plan. We waited for the manager who was suppose to start their shift at 11. They never appeared or called the hour we waited for them. Our family of four ended up driving back home in the middle of the night because all the hotels in Ithaca were sold out. I personally had to call them to see if anyone had a room. The front desk staff just stood there and watched me make calls completely not willing to help us.
I waited before writing this so I would be calm. But the more I think about the situation and the lack of responsiveness to a paid guest makes me so upset. In the weeks that followed, we never received a call from the manager, the owner or anyone from Holiday Inn corporate . How about "we're sorry you and your family had absolutely no place to stay, even though you had been charged for the room and had a confirmation #"? Nothing. Do not depend on this hotel to honor your paid reservation.

We were impressed. The hotel is nice and clean. The staff was friendly. The rooms are modern and spacious.

Terrible experience,. Arrived at 10:00 pm and were told they overbooked and would not honor our reservation,. They made no effort to contact us in advance, no call, no email, no text, Ithaca hotels were totally booked and they told us to go 40 minutes away to another holiday inn.

I reserved a king bed room, thats what I am accustomed to when traveling. I was upset that they gave my room away and I had to stay in a double queen. The night manager was rude and said sorry you can cancel and stay at the hampton ( owned by the same group). To his credit, I went to buy some snacks and he comped them. The room is great. Beds are high and comforteable. Lighting, tv, stand up desk , work space and decor were fantastic. The shades were excellent. Holiday inn has come a long way. Good job! Work on customer service at the front desk.

New hotel, nice clean. Either the rooms are HUGE or I got a super upgrade. However room was on front and next to highway. VERY NOISY!! Trust me. Ask for a room away from highway or pass out drunk and don t worry.

This was a very nice hotel that seemed newly renovated. I am very picky about hotel cleanliness. Even though there were a few gross things, I still felt like this was overall a very clean hotel. There were some hairs on the floor by the bathtub and something that looked like poop or chocolate on the back of the door handle in the bathroom. Everything else in this hotel was crisp and clean.I would suggest that the employees not stand at the front door and smoke at a 100% no smoking hotel. Could you make them go behind the hotel?

Clean, neat and newly renovated facility that is just right for a traveler or tourist to spend a few days. Beds were comfortable and room had amenities that someone took the time to think through. Roll up blackout screen and separate privacy screen that allows light to filter into room. A good led desk lamp with usb charger and 220v European converter built in. Large flatscreen tv. Keurig. A double wide suitcase holder so a couple can both easily access their own bag. Convenient charging stations on both nightstands. Right down to a well placed lower shelf in the shower for placing your foot. My only complaint was the water pressure in the shower. Hotel location was excellent with access to local brew pub and shopping.

Modern and clean. Breakfast was better than expected considering it's free. Our king sized bed room had a good amount of space. Great value overall and would definitely stay here again.

We stay this hotel for our business and vacation. The room is big and clean, everything is as good as you get.
After we leave the hotel and found that we let our yoga matt in the room. And we called and ask them to get us mail to our home. They did super easy and fast. What great extra step they taking. I express great appreciation to Krista Maricle.
Definitely we will stay here if coming to Ithaca.

Something came up with the event I was going to be attending in the area and I had to cancel my reservation last minute, they gave me a refund even though they did not have to. As far as customer service goes this hotel was great to work with and know it would have been a great place to stay for the weekend. Thank You to the GM who made the decision for my refund!

Great place besides when u asked to talk to manager an still keep calling an get no response it's been 3 weeks now great staff horrible management

I am a platinum member. My family and I are at this hotel for one night for swim championships at Ithaca college. During my stay the room above mine occupants have been stomping around through out the day I have called guest service four times which in turn brings the loud noises to a stop for a few hours (2-3) then it starts back up again. The last call I made was at 4:15 am when the stomping began again and woke us all out of our sleep and the night person advise me there was nothing he can do. I would not recommend staying at this hotel unless you are on the fourth floor although the rooms are decent if you get stuck with a noisy person above your out of luck when it comes to sleep.

Everything was amazing other than when I called I asked due to covid was their buffet breakfast fully open, they informed me it was. When I got up to get breakfast the next morning it wasnt fully open. There was no cereal or milk, zero options for my 2 year old son. We ended up walking to Dennys for breakfast.

Nice hotel next to a lot of shopping and food choices minutes from the parks. Nice staff, very clean with a small pool and fitness center.

Great professional and courteous staff, very modern and new hotel

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. We stayed here during COVID and we felt safe with the precautions the hotel took. They still served breakfast but orders had to be placed for safety. The rooms were spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was excellent, we were able to walk to Buttermilk Falls and other attractions (wineries, brewery, restaurants, stores) all were easy to get to. Thank you to the staff for a great stay! Would def. recommend and plan to go back!

We stayed here for my daughter's graduation from Cornell. The hotel was in immaculate condition. The rooms were clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was polite and very helpful. Would certainly stay here again if we are ever in the area.

Poor breakfast but agreeable to none. Sufficient amenities and service

I am usually not type to leave reviews, but I do not want anyone else to have to experience the same treatment in the future. The general manager, of the hotel, cancelled my reservation without my consent prior to my arrival. All hotels in the area were fully booked for the night due to students moving in to Cornell University. Karen and Chris, the check in staff at Holiday Inn Express, were extremely unfriendly and unwilling to assist me in finding alternative accommodations. They told me it was my fault. According to them, the reservation was cancelled prior to my arrival because my credit card was not authorized. This is complete nonsense, since I have an email confirmation from Holiday Inn's own reservation website. And credit cards for hotel stays are not charged until check in. Karen also stated that the general manager called me numerous times and sent me multiple emails regarding my cancellation earlier that day, which is a straight up false. After speaking with IHG customer service for 2 hours from 2230-0030, they were still not able to find an alternative accommodation for my family and me. After all the communication and effort, I had to make own reservation at Hilton Canopy for $700 for 2 nights, paying out of my own pocket. Before leaving for Canopy, Chris explained that hiexpress.com, where I booked my reservation, is a third party and is not afflicted with the hotel. He suggested that, customers should call the hotel instead of booking the reservation online. To summarize from this experience, I've learned that Holiday Inn Express staff, at this specific location, are extremely irresponsible and neglect customers who are victims to their company's overbooking practice. I will continue to update this review, as I resolve the situation with IHG customer service.

We like it here so much, we decided to stay another night. Everyone is so nice! The room is beautiful, the bed is so comfortable, there was a great breakfast. Thank you Holiday Inn Expess. Margie

A great Hotel. Professional and accomolidating staff. The hotel is located very close to shopping and restaurants.

The staff was very friendly, and pleasant to deal with. The room was very clean and modern looking. Unfortunately I was awoken around 5am by a sound I can only describe as sounding like someone was bowling in my room. It was loud enough to shock me out of my sleep. I work in construction and have been on new construction sites for a bunch of hotels, I can say for sure this building was not built properly. There is no way they followed the proper sound mitigating steps. I can't recommend this hotel and would not ever consider staying there again. Frankly I am considering a chargeback on my card.
