Service was good and the food was fine. As is the case with most airports, WAY overpriced and small quantities for what you pay for. I had a paprika infused turkey sandwich and fries. The airport is under construction to add to the discomfort of flying under pandemic mandated restrictions.
Food was really good and a decent price. Brisket was tender and tasty. House BBQ sauce has a kick to it and is pretty good. They do have a milder BBQ sauce if you ask. Service was very good, as well.
Great service, French fries were amazing. The meat was really smokey (pulled pork and half chicken). Maybe it isn't my taste but just wanted to share in case anyone else has similar tastes. The pulled pork is also drenched in sauce which isn't what I am used to either. Fast and easy option at the airport. I would recommend ordering maybe loaded fries or something if you don't like really smokey BBQ
Ehhh. So I got the pickles and coleslaw. Ya weird combo, but I didn't want anything too heavy on the flight. The pickles were sweet and sour pickles. I eat a ton of pickles. I try them everywhere. I was not a fan of these. I ended up taking two bites and leaving them. The coleslaw though was great! I am not a fan of mayo which is why I ordered this vinegar based coleslaw. It had just a light mayo with mostly vinegar. Right up my ally.
Ah, the old Poke and Tickle. It's good. Service is ok, cleanliness could be improved, drink selection could be improved. Food is decent. No real complaints but it's not a 5 star
Tucked away just above gate 41 at terminal B. Decent brisket, sauce could be better. Overall good food. Fast service which is great for an airport pace. Pricing is as expected at an airport. Easily the best option in Terminal B
I've been to this restaurant approximately 6 years ago, and had very, very low expectations based upon my previous 1 Star review experience.
This visit was measurably better, but some of the same issues persist, namely lack of cleanliness and rudeness on the part of some of the staff.
With low expectations we toured the terminal seeking out the best restaurant experience this airport has to offer. Given the severely limited options we choose Pork and Pickle. The restaurant is located one level above the concourse but the elevator is locked and unavailable for customer use. With luggage in tow we climbed the dingy stairs, noticing the discarded papers and stained rugs.
The lobby is little more than a tiny landing at the top of the stairs, which was far too small to house the 6 hopeful diners awaiting service. Interestingly the locked elevator sprang to life when restaurant staff moved a large bin of trash through our little group and into the now usable elevator.
The hostess was a sour woman that didn't greet us, or even respond when we answered her unasked question regarding our parties size. She reminded us of the legendary Prussian coaches of the Soviet Block Era. Stern and bit frightening.
We were beckoned by another staff member... by beckoned I mean waved at from across the full distance of the establishment with a yelled query... "2?"... apparently asking us if we matched the party size they were interested in seating. We eagerly responded in the affirmative and sat at a cozy table near the kitchen area.
In all fairness our waitress was warm, friendly helpful and prompt. A refreshing exception. This was how the rating bumped up a notch from a 1 out of 5 stars. The food was the other.
Speaking of food, it was pretty solid. Warm and good. Not great though.
The bill was presented and we saw a very steep bill for the food received, but we knew that going in... the nearly 12% sales tax was a bit of a surprise.
Given the limited options available, I can't really offer a recommendation per se, but hopefully this review will help set expectations.
<< Note that lunch starts at 11 am and prior to that you can only get breakfast sandwiches >>
Pros:
1) Alright food variety compared to other places in the KC airport
Cons:
1) Slow service, though this might be due to everyone ordering lunch right at 11 am (but still too little staff taking orders and serving it seems)
2) Small amount of seating (place filled up around 10:50 am with people waiting for lunch, including us). But this might be a good thing due to con #1
3) Bacon is limp and soggy
4) Turkey slider with spicy avocado did not have the avocado on it. Would recommend only getting food here if you have more than an hour to burn
5) The fries are sad and soggy
6) Expensive, even for airport
It does not really feel fair to rate a restaurant within an airport terminal. The pork and pickle was certainly the best choice for dinner during my 3 hour layover. I would go there again if traveling through. If you have the time, grab yourself a drink and a bite. You won't regret it. Yet... remember where you are so you aren't shock by the efficent service without a great deal of grace or the limited ability to have the finery that I suspect would be available if not within the airport terminal where efficient is king.
