I ve called multiple times throughout the week and did a online inquiry to schedule a ride for this weekend and one decided to get back to me. Called wild western horseback adventure and they booked me immediately!

My family of 3 took the 2 hour trail ride through the forest. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I had several concerns leading up to the ride and emailed "Megan" at the stables. I was vefy surprised at how professilnal she was. She replied to all of my texy messages and followed up with emails. AJ, the wrangler who lead us was extremely conscientious with safety. You are in good hands with this outfit.

We're from California Took my niece and nephew and it was an Amazing experience. Megan and AJ are phenomenal!!! The trail was well worth the price! I can see why they were so highly rated. I would definitely recommend them& next time we visit we will definitely return.

We drove from Chandler, Az to Pumpkin in the Pines and it was extremely disappointing and highly over priced.
The "petting zoo" was filthy cages that held a pig, a goat, a turkey, and one rabbit in a hutch.. you aren't allowed to enter the cages, you can only pet the animals if they come up to the fence.
The food for sale was snack bags of chips and a cooler of soda.
The grounds were extremely dirty, unorganized, and I can't believe I paid $24 for my husband and I to spend 30 minutes there.
The only thing true about their advertising was that pumpkins are not included in the price of admission.. those are extra and not worth it.
I'd love a refund.

The staff are very friendly. The scenery was amazing, and the ride was relaxing. To be fair, the horses walk through the entire journey (i.e. no trotting or galloping), and that is explained at the beginning before you pay. Our guide offered to take our pictures (using my cell phone) during the ride, and they turned out great!

We were a group of 6 who took an hour trail ride. Very enjoyable ride and our wranglers were good with the special needs individuals in our group. We will definitely use Hitchin Post again and highly recommend.

Offers sleigh rides during the winter. Fun for the kids but a little on the expensive side. Awesome friendly staff. Wish the ride was a little longer and that they still served dinner out in the forest in a wall tent instead of the cabin.

Second time we've ridden with Hitchin Post and they are always wonderful! Great guides! Beautiful ride and comfortable terrain. Horses are well taken care of and loved! I highly recommend taking a ride with them!

My family and I (including two children) stopped by to inquire about one-hour ride availability and were attacked by the dog in the office. No human was around and the dog chased us out. It was terrifying and definitely not something we should ve been subject to. If you re closed, please update your online info and close the office and put a sign! Don t leave your unleashed dog to attack children!

2 stars because they were kind people. We came for the pumpkin experience but it was way over priced for little or no value. Save your money and go elsewhere. Once again, very kind people, but the experience was poor.

I scheduled a one hour ride for my 8 year old daughter and myself. We were asked to arrive at 2:00 PM for a 2:30 ride. At 12:34, I received a message and voice mail saying their wrangler was sick and they had to cancel the ride. Mind you, we live about an hour and a half away from the business.

As I scheduled, they informed me of a policy that if I cancel within 48 hours of the rides, I will be charged for both rides. I understood and accepted.

A business can have a safe guard for themselves, but not put in place safeguards to protect the interest of their customers. It was disappointing and annoying.

Take your business elsewhere, hopefully a place that protects the interests of the customer as the priority.

My girlfriend and I were in from Ohio for the week and we came here on our 2nd to last day in town. We were not disappointed in the slightest with our experience. Our guide, AJ, was about as friendly and personable as one could hope for, the terrain was, as expected, gorgeous and the horses were pleasant and well mannered. All in all this was a great time and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to log some time in the saddle.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. We had 2 experienced riders who wanted to go out with various family members with no experience. The first was a group of 4 early morning. The second was a group of 5. Trying to plan this with family was tough but Megan was SUPER helpful and went above and beyond to be helpful to us. The "wranglers" were very nice and Megans husband who rode with us was super friendly and nice to spend a couple of hours with. I am a licensed Veterinary Technician and was with my sister in law who is a veterinarian and we were very happy to see the horses happy and healthy and well fed and cared for. Highley recommend a ride here if you have the time!

I can't speak for the stables for the rest of the year, but the pumpkin patch was very disappointing. It wasn't even a real patch, it was just a field of weeds with pumpkins placed in it. Admission was overpriced and didn't even include the price of our pumpkins! The hay ride was pretty inauthentic and very short and there weren't really any good places to take photos. Overall, I mostly felt swindled out of my money by the time we left. There are MUCH better places to go if you're looking for a good pumpkin patch in the fall.

I scheduled a two hour ride on a Sunday. That weekend I had a serious family emergency. I called the morning of my ride and spoke to Mary about the reservations. She said specifically I could just use it as a credit if I wanted and they would not charge my card. On Monday they charged my card for the ride, and when I spoke to a lady who didn't give me her name she wouldn't give me credit or anything. If they would have told me on the day of my ride that I would be getting charged regardless I would have gifted it or something. I feel cheated.

My partner and I went on the sleigh ride today. Justin and Jared were our guides and they were super nice and knowledgeable about the areas history. We will definitely choose Historic Hitchin Post Stables again.

Had an amazing ride on Saturday morning. Beautiful weather and amazing trail lead. The horses were so fun to ride. So glad we came up to Flagstaff for the weekend and really enjoyed our time here. Would highly recommend!!

Extremely rude on the trail to through hikers who are following the law. Horses are easily spooked by well-behaved dogs on leash, yielding to horses 200 ft. away. Please share the outdoors respectfully.

Very friendly and easy-going staff. The stables and the route is lined with historic wagons from the civil war.
Our guide Cody is a 100% pure blooded horseman.
While we were riding through the forrest he told us stories of his adventures.
The horses are treated kindly. They seemed to be well groomed and happy.
I would definitely go again!

Many of the comments complain about over price admission, simple snacks, and the "petting zoo"
Personally I had a wonderful time. I took my grandkids during a weekday. We were the only ones there. We walked along the horse corrals, the horses were people friendly thriving on affection. The grandkids played for an hour or so on a mini jumper and played a few games. This is a great place to unwind, appreciate the outdoors and farm life. The kids love it and the scenery is beautiful. I would definitely reccomend the Historic Hitchin Post for some good old fashion family quality time. Also a great place to take your fall photos.

was a great experience, you gotta do the dinner! the steak was great, everything was freshly made and they topped it off with homemade peach cobbler. the staff was very polite and their little girl was great company and Abby the dog was nice too!

Staff is great. Cowboy and his wife. Very friendly. The trails are slow but pretty. Unfortunately, insurance coverage in AZ doesn't let you do much in terms of real riding, and that's everywhere. Follow the leader at slow walking pace while trying to slow down the horse, who wants to go faster. I guess there's nothing they can do about that.

Very accommodating with amazing horses and guides. Reasonably priced and friendly! We did the 1hr ride and hands down would return for a longer ride. The scenery is very basic but still relaxing.

I shouldn't even give a one star since we drove 4 hours and 45 minutes to only get to see a few buildings and a few horses. Didn't get to ride. No one answered their phone. I called 2 weeks before and spoke with a guy that said to call back a day or two before we were going to set an appointment but they never answered their phones. So disappointed. This was my sons 12th birthday.

My favorite place in the country to ride. It's like being on Bonanza! Unfortunately the conditions were too icey to ride safely so we had to do the sleigh ride. It was still beautiful and the staff is always friendly and fun to talk with. I was really hoping to ride in the snow but it was too dangerous. Can't wait to come back and ride again!

We went on a one-hour trail ride. Wyatt was our guide. Both he and Meagan were great, as well as the other staff we encountered. I would recommend this trail ride to anyone! We were aged 16 to over 80, and we all had a fun afternoon.

We booked our trip several weeks in advance. I gave them my card number, and the rest of my information. I never received any type of confirmation, no email or text. I could almost never reach them when I call. The day of the trip, I called several times and no answer. We show up an hour ahead of time and no one was there. We kept calling, while several other families came wondering where all the employees were. My entire surprise for my fiance was ruined. Our entire trip was planned for this specific event.

I would have loved to have gone, but to not have any employee to speak to or show up to my reservation is absolutely terrible.

Ignore any bad reviews, the service here is great. Yes the rides were at a walk but this is absolutely perfect and the terrain makes the walking exciting enough! We just had a fabulous morning ride with AJ and Megan at Hitching Post, with my two daughters ages 5 and 7. We felt in very capable hands the whole time and will be back again!

Pumpkin Patch review Only: drove up from Phoenix f...

Pumpkin Patch review Only: drove up from Phoenix for the pumpkin patch as they advertised Hay Ride, games, bounce house, petting zoo, food, ect was definitely not as expected. The entire area was about the size of an extra large back yard. They could put in the advertisement that it s honestly meant for kids about 3/2 and younger as everything was super small tike size. My kids are 10 and 8 and could not do anything. The petting zoo was a pig a goat and a turkey that you could only pet if they walked up to the gate you could stand at and see them. The food was bagged chips and Cheetos and the hay ride was a circle made in the middle of a field with nothing really to see. Very overpriced for the activities as pumpkins were not included in the admission. Could go a long way just letting people in for free and having them pay al a carte as the hay ride was also additional to admission. Sorry, would not recommended.

This is for the sleigh ride and dinner. We wanted to love this...we really did. My kids went many years ago and you rode for about an hour out into the woods..dinner was in big tents with open outdoor fires and live music. I'm only giving this 2 stars because, the 2 sweet guys that run this are doing everything the can with the bad situation that was handed to them. They tell good jokes and clearly love their lives. Unfortunately for us, customers, what the owners have done with this is sad. The sleigh ride has been dumbed down to a figure 8 ride along the rode that only takes a very short time. The dinner is served in a freezing very small tent that is basically plastic picnic tables. There is a little wood stove but it was ice cold in there and we just wanted to leave. We paid around $600 for 7 of us to do the ride and dinner. We had to wait about an hour for our food because, these poor guys have to give the ride, clean up their horses cook the food and run back and forth from a house up the hill with the food....also while they were checking in a large Airbnb group. It's just not worth it. Shame on the owner!. It's robbery! I would go back just to take a trail ride with these kinds souls that are running the place, but I would never want to give the owners more of our money.

Been on a few trail rides before, but this was by far the best. Trail thru the forest was beautiful and Chris our guide was great. Definitely recommend as a must do while in Flagstaff. We did the 2 hour ride.

A friend & I own quarter horses in Arkansas and went on the 4 hour ride into Walnut Canyon with Wrangler Carissa on their Tennessee Walkers. The ride was smooth and more enjoyable than it would have been on one of my quarter horses. The Aspen, Blue Spruce, various beautiful wild flowers and caves were gorgeous. I would recommend these stables to anyone wanting a unique view of the area in charming company. They have horses for the experienced rider as well as the novice beginner. We had a packed lunch on the trail at a nostalgic camp area with a circle of old wagons reminiscent of the Old days or a western movie. They even have a horse that's been in the movie, "The Gambler" that Kenny Rodgers rode. He is 32 years old and is currently occasionally ridden by kids. Point being, they take very good care of their horses which was very important to us. I thank you Historic Hitching Post Stables and Carissa for a very memorable lifetime experience. I even enjoyed listening to Elvis on the trail.

This was a great first experience riding a horse. "Buster" was a great horse and Dale, the wrangler, was awesome. Made the experience unforgettable. We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone. Thanks Dale and Dad "Clint Eastwood" for the lesson and ride.
