Hilton Columbia Review

Room and hotel itself was very nice, but beware of hidden fees and make sure to confirm pricing with the front desk before you book....we called the night of because we were driving to a wedding and needed a place to stay overnight. The reason we picked this hotel was because over the phone we were told they were going to honor a military discount, we provided proof when we arrived, but in the morning when we checked out we were told there was no military discount available for that date. We were also never told that parking was $15. The front desk asked if we had a vehicle, we said yes, and they charged us for parking. Finally, we were told they were going to refund us the difference for the military discount and that never came through. All in all very disappointing customer service.

Clean hotel and our stays here have been without issue. They need to have microwaves in the rooms.

Beautiful room and accommodations. Very pretty bed but the mattress just did not sleep well. Beautiful view from the room and very close to the Vista.

Let the phone ring to room service for 20 minutes....then they closed....went to bed hungry. Front desk didn't seem to care. I won't stay at another Hilton. Very disappointed.

My company recently held a two-day seminar at the Hilton Columbia and our experience was wonderful. Our meeting room was amazing, the perfect size and set-up. The facilitators were helpful, available, and willing to work with us. The rooms were beautiful, the amenities great (especially for the price), and the location is perfect. We are already looking at holding our next seminar there in July!

Hotel is very clean and we'll maintained. Rooms were decent. No free breakfast, but has a buffet available. Lots of dining and drinking options within walking distance of the hotel.

Finally a Hilton that had my expectations met in the US and in Europe!

Nice hotel but I had two issues. Parking lot is way to small. We had to park at a parking deck across the street. Second minor issue the room had no curtains so it was very bright. Other than that it was great. Late check out is plus too.

The Hilton is a beautiful hotel, but since I was only visiting a relative staying there is cannot comment on anything else.

This location was right next to a bunch of restaurants and bars, and the convention center. Rooms felt newly renovated, and lobby had just gotten all new carpet. Overall, a very nice experience!

I was not too impressed with the room I was in. It didn't have a microwave which I realized after bringing home left overs. The hotel is in good location, though.

I am on the 8th floor, and apparently the AC unit for the building operates with a loud hum right over my room. It sounds like I am running a router all night. It is now 3 AM and I cannot sleep with this noise. Front desk knows about it, says a box fan will help....but they are out. So, I guess I was supposed to think of that when I left home?? I ask for another room and they are booked up. So, I don't see myself getting any sleep tonight. Meanwhile they should have never rented out this room. If it was an hour earlier, I would have left.

We stay here 3 times a year, awesome location and beautiful place to stay. Rooms and staff awesome.

Had a good stay. Very clean, and many restaraunts and small shops in area.

Food and service were great. Calamari appetizer was only so-so, though.

I stayed here on a business trip. It was the friendliest service I have ever had at a hotel. Even the cleaning and maintenance crew team members would stop what they were doing to greet you and wish you a good day. True southern hospitality!

Awful Wifi - At least you could connect with dial up back in 1997. 20 years later their service won't even bring up the connection page. Had to use my own phone as a hot spot. Pitiful service.

We stopped in for a night on our way to the mountains and it was a pleasant experience. Very nicely appointed room, clean and quiet. The staff was accommodating and housekeeping was quick and friendly. We will certainly stay here again.

Very easy and convenient. Good breakfast. Perfect for a quick over night or a few days when you have to be in Columbia. Close to the statehouse and campus in the Vista.

Our experience at this Hilton was terrible. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The comforter does not look or feel clean. The bathroom was dirty when we arrived and even after asking them to clean it they did a poor job leaving items from the last guests behind. The carpet in the rooms is poorly maintained and feels sticky. They provide no breakfast so that the attached Ruth Chris steakhouse can charge you for it. Lastly, on top of the much too high fee for your room you have to pay an additional daily fee for parking.

We will not be returning to any Hilton in the future.

I have stayed here several times as a "staycation" and loved my stay each time! My most recent stay was my Mother's Day gift as a mini getaway and the staff at the Hilton made sure I enjoyed every second of my stay! I checked in and headed straight to the pool...when I came back to my room, I had a sweet note along with chocolate, champagne & orange juice to make mimosas waiting on me! Such a treat! Also, having Ruth's Chris in the hotel is a bonus!

I worked at this place for a couple of weeks and I'm letting you know don't stay here. Find another hotel to go to. They don't change the comforters and sometimes they don't change the sheets and pillow cases after a customer leaves. I saw this in training. If it looks clean they will leave it on for the next guest. Best to stay somewhere else or if you must stay here make them change the sheets and comforters in front of you.

This is a relatively good business hotel.

Perfect location, close to make restaurants, state capital building, USC, and Colonial Life arena. Pool and workout facilities nice. Breakfast is good, but expensive. One block from IHOP as an alternative. Room comfortable and updated.

Very nice hotel, great facilities, expensive parking

I had problems with connecting to the internet and Chris went far and beyond in connecting my tablet to it. He is a 10 plus employee and I appreciate all of his time and efforts. The Ruth Chris restaurant was another story. Had breakfast and dinner there and the quality of the food and service was less than acceptable.

The meeting rooms and courtyard of the hotel were both great; however, I never saw any of the hotel rooms themselves as I was there simply there for a professional event

The Hilton Columbia Center is well located near all of Columbia's main sights, dining, and nightlife. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel also has a nice little pool and gym. Professional and friendly staff.

Tired interior that the staff maintains pretty well. Bed was very comfortable and I got a great night's sleep! I did not unpack my clothes because dresser drawers were dusty and hadn't been cleaned for awhile. Room was very clean otherwise. I would stay here again for the location.

The Staff is too Friendly and the Rooms are too Nice... I felt well taken care of from the time I pulled up to the hotel. Jenna checked me in and recognized me by my Hilton Honor Status. Very sweet during the check-in process. I had the pleasure of having Nicholas the bellman (tall guy with glasses) assist me with my bags. Sparked up an engaging conversation and provided laughs all the way to my room. The room was spacious, I had a great view of the city. Everything in the room was in top condition. I will definitely be back.

My daughter and I stayed this past week and was very pleased! Room was nice and clean, and the Hilton staff were so nice and helpful. Walking distance to several restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Columbia.

It's a nice comfy place to stay here in Columbia, South Carolina. The service here is friendly and the restaurant, Ruth's Chris, is very good.

Nice clean hotel located in close proximity to restaurants and bars

Staff was pleasant. Room was clean and comfortable. Room air conditioner seemed to quickly shut down at night which made sleeping warmer than anticipated/desired. Otherwise no complaints.

Only stayed for one night but it was very nice. Easy to find location, it has a large parking garage with easy access to the hotel. Room was clean and stocked. Staff was friendly and quick with checking in and out.

This hotel is beautifully appointed and is in a prime location in Columbia, However, for price ($159.00 + taxes) I expect to get both a good night sleep and clean towels. My family and I checked into this Hilton on this past Sunday, 10-28-12. When we went to retire for the evening we turned on the heat (it is fall). First, there was a profuse odor which we smelled through out our room which came from the heating vents. After the heating unit was on for a while, it began singing and humming to us. This is the exact type of thing which we expect from a Hotel 6 not a Hilton. Especially one which have received such high accolades. I called the front desk to indicate that the room was not working out and there was a problem with the heating unit. The young lady indicated that maintenance staff had went home ; so, she offered to switch out our room. After having our room switched from 626 to 636 the staff member asked me to turn on the heating unit to see if it also was probematic. There were no obvious signs out side of the odor we experience with turning the heat unit on.
After moving my family down the hall at 12:00 am, this unit began singing and humming as well. My husband told me that there was no way he was going to move again. Needless to say, my sleep was restless and broken due to their heating unit malfuction. This morning, when I went to shower I unfolded a nice neat soiled towel.
Having stayed in many Hilton hotels this is obviously not what I come to expect from a HILTON.

It is not just about the surface level stuff-Hilton. It behooves you to get the details right as well. Like, having you staff check the towels before putting them in a patron's room and having your infrastructure working where it doesn't interefere with your customer's experience.

Everything you expect from Hilton, nice clean room, quality bedding, and friendly helpful staff

While the staff is nice and the hotel is clean, they have the strangest policy of not allowing luggage carts outside the hotel so you have to carry from the enterance to the vehicles and vice versa.

Room was nice, but very humid. The floor felt damp, but the location is amazing!

Loved it as usual with Hilton. It was very clean the staff was extremely friendly. The valets that we saw were very polite and sweet. We felt very good considering covid-19 procedures where put into place as expected with this establishment. As usual the room was cozy and comfortable. This is the reason we always stay at Hilton or Tru by Hilton
