Filthy dated rooms. Unclear whether the fire alarms were working (only those downstairs were flashing). Toilets not cleaned properly. Staff offered alternative rooms but more of the same. Very unimpressed.

Great looking building with a lot of history at a superb beach front location in Brighton. Booked via an online website which wasn't supported by Hiltons price match policy, so I missed out on my HiltonHonors benefits. (their own website More

Really enjoyed our one night stay. We did pay a bit more and got a seafront balcony room but it was worth it. It was fantastic being able to stand on the balcony and watch the waves roll in. The hotel it's self could do with a bit updating but it's by no means shabby. The room did lack some amenities you would expect of a 4 star hotel, like a fridge and some kind of usb/bluetooth enabled speaker. We certainly enjoyed the pool and the sauna. The breakfast was excellent. Would recommend and stay again.

A very last minute booking and as a result a very small room at an extortionate price. I would describe it as shoe box size and the temperature of a sauna. The double bed was shoved against the wall, with hardly any room to move for one person let alone two! The air-con didn't work, and the iron left a mark on my boyfriends shirt, Apart from the bar which is relaxing, the hotel is tired and dirty and very overpriced- will not be staying in a Hilton ever again.

Nice hotel, would definitely stay here again. Rooms are nice and beds are very comfortable, only minor problems, one room was so hot and the temperature gauge didn't seem to work, plus the windows only opens 2 inches so this was no help. The sea view room was just as nice and cooler with windows that opened fully, only gripe was I made a cup of tea, after a couple minutes there were tea all over the table due to the biggest crack in the Base of the cup, these are only minor things that would not put me off coming back. The pool and sauna are nice and the cleanest pool I've ever been in as is the rest of the hotel.

I booked this hotel based on the reviews online, sadly it was not as I was expecting. I booked two king size bedrooms. Upon arrival the reception was full we had to wait for a minimum of 15min to get checked in, no one was there to help us with the bags. One of the rooms was way smaller then the other, the windows does not open, and the AC was not working. The 6th floor is still under construction so the walls are all taken out (it looks really bad). For a 4 star hotel it was not as the value nor as expected from a chain hotel.

Good location, usual standard you would expect from a Hilton. Hilton breakfasts have set the bar high. Always used to think Hilton were more expensive but actually think better value than premier Inn.

Fabulous hotel!! if your looking for a bit of class and panache this is the place to stay when in Brighton! The authenticity, the staff, the cleaniless was all top notch. There were several members of the reception team who I give a big hand to, especially Martyn..I'd like to wish him a special thanks for being spot on locating me the ideal room.
Thoroughly enjoyed my weekend stay so much so, that I intend to return sooner rather than later.

Keep up the good work guys, especially through these trying times.

I was quite dissapointed really with this Hilton, I would of expected a the building to have been kept in better standard, but understand it is an old building. The location is great, right by the sea front. The buffet breakfast is worth staying for, there was such a wide choice and a great view of the sea.

Originally a beautiful building designed by Alfred Waterhouse, an absolutely criminal 1970s-looking refurb sucks all the character out of this hotel as soon as you pass the lobby. There are suspended ceilings reminiscent of tired office decor, cramped bedrooms and the function rooms are like carpeted car parks. Oddly, a scent a bit like wet dog pervades throughout. Any staff I have interacted with have been disdainful and unsmiling, and when I attended on one occasion for a tattoo convention the hotel had itself agreed to host, openly snotty. Avoid.

We stayed here while attending a wedding at the same venue and we were very pleased with our stay. This hotel is very conveniently located on the sea front in the town centre and is easy to find when driving. There is an on site car park which is a bit tightly packed & pricey, but parking in Brighton centre is difficult & expensive so still worked out OK to use the car park for convenience. Our room was very large and had a luxury feel with chic, modern decor. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay and the breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again!

Great facilities, we were in one of the suites for the Explore GB event and we were well looked after. The food was very tasty too. The hotel bar on the ground floor is very fancy, great for cocktails with a sweetheart.

Dispite coming to this hotel for nearly 6 yrs for conferences, our recent visit (a very hot week of 19-23 June 2017) was very disappointing. 4 double rooms were confirmed late 2016 but we were offered 4 twin standard rooms instead with no AC or adequate lighting for reading. We had to request fans but mine wasn't working the next day so i had to buy one as they didn't have a spare! Very disappointing indeed.

We have never stayed in a hotel over Christmas before but were pleasantly surprised. It was full of families enjoying the facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly and their Christmas jumpers at breakfast was a nice touch. The breakfasts were good and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would always opt for a room at the front in this hotel because the rooms overlooking the fans etc are noisy - and it hardly constitutes a city view! The postman delivering chocolates to our granddaughter on Christmas morning was a lovely idea!

Horrible experience at check in. No apologies for being kept waiting & rude & dismissive staff. Very unfriendly atmosphere. Room no better than a travelodge at twice the cost. Next time will revert to staying in smaller friendly boutique hotel

Poor place to stay although location good opposite beech. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful, no air conditioning in the summer with temperature of 30 degree in Brighton. When asked the reception desk to help, they provided a bottle of cold water... and fan. Official complaint made and promised to resolve the issue but no action taken, we had travelled from NewYork and jetlagged, but unable to sleep due to the poor facilities and poor. Do not travel to stay in this hotel in warm summer, or double check that they will give you a air conditioned room.

Really disappointed. The bathroom was shabby with sealant hanging off the bath and rust stains. The shower unit was broken and had to wait all day for it to be fixed. Room was booked for cleaning but they forgot . This used to be a lovely.hotel and worth paying for the extra for the luxury but is now dated and in need.of an update

Great hotel. Breakfast buffet has a wide selection I would just wish they change it up every once and a while. The hotel room was very nice and the complimentary tea and biscuits were nice. The only problem I had in the room was the toilet would take a really long time to fully flush and be able to flush again.

My wife and I had the most wonderful wedding here. Sarah, Alex and the team did such an amazing job. The staff were attentive and really contributed to a magical day. The food was 5 star, the suite was lovely and every element of the day was simply perfect. Thanks! :-)

Friendly helpful service, magnificent old building, nice pool area. Good selection for breakfast. Clean rooms. Unfortunately we had a room at back of hotel and that air conditioning unit was noisy.
