My partner and I visited the area this past weeken...

My partner and I visited the area this past weekend and stayed at this "resort." The room was nice, bed was comfortable, and the room had a decent view. Not a direct view of the lake as you look down onto rooftops and main street buildings. If you would like a better view opt for a place lakeside or on the other side of the main street. We saw many other options in the area with better views. TVs were slow and took a bit to change channel/volume. Also, when we opened the door to the balcony, we did smell firewood smoke but not sure where that comes from(lobby fireplace?). The resort had a nice gym with several treadmills and other machines. The resort is definitely family friendly, you will see and hear kids. For parents, this is a nice place as they offer hot cocoa and cookies as well as a movie events and popcorn.

However, customer service was poor and impersonal from one of their front desk reps. I don't recall her name as she never introduced herself and wasn't wearing a name tag like most other employees were. She was brash and not polite/kind at multiple encounters to both myself and my partner. Other representatives were nice and a gentleman quickly brought up coffee kcups once requested.

The resort calls itself a spa but simply has an adjacent establishment. The indoor pool is nothing special and one look at it and I turned back toward my room. Due to weather, I was not able to experience the outside pool.

Upon checkin, I informed a rep I had found a significantly lower rate and asked if something could be done as the price I found on a third party site was over $55 less. She checked with her manager who also said nothing could be done. I was surprised to see management couldn't work something out in that regard. I would suggest others make a reservation that can be cancelled as day before/day of prices on third party sites can be significantly less depending on the time of year.

Overall, the place is decent but I have experienced better customer service at Marriott and even Candlewood hotels.

Super friendly staff with lots of activities . Complimentary coffee and cookies. I got to hold an owl during one of their free educational presentations in the lobby. They let us bring our dog. That was nice.

Top Notch! The front desk guys were very professional. Got us checked into our room early. Had the best view of Lake Placid from the 5th floor. Bathroom had the best shower out of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip. Parking was very convenient. And the location in Lake Placid can t be beat. Would stay here again for sure!

We really enjoyed our stay, the room had a great view of Mirror Lake and mountains beyond. Had dinner at Jimmys across the street, sat right at the window on the water, breakfast at the hotel was fantastic the next morning, with a fantastic view of whiteface mountain. Plenty of longer seating all over the lobby. We'll be back.

Excellent upper scale resort nestled in the Adirondacks. Close proximity to main street restaurants and shopping - several resort entrances empty out onto the main street directly kitty corner to waterfront access on Mirror Lake. We were there for Christmas and loved every minute! Parking was no problem and the staff were very courteous. We had a king suite which was massive with two balconies overlooking the mountains surrounding Mirror Lake. Rooms were warm, comfortable, quiet, and well appointed. Shower is massive! As are the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Highly recommend!

Where do I start. Attended NYSUT conference. Breakfast at Dancing Bears was sub Par for the price. Conference lunch line was way too long. Needed more lines/stations. Ran out of soup and dessert before I got in line. Lunch was way too carb heavy, no healthy choices. WiFi on Sunday kept acting up during session.

Me and my husband decided to go on a relaxing vaca...

Me and my husband decided to go on a relaxing vacation to lake Placid in New York for two days 1 night and we decided to stay at High Peaks Resort. This resort is located right on Mirror lake and next to many different restaurants and shopping stores. It includes 3 different hotels (The main resort, the waterfront collection and the lake house). This resort has a spa, gym and 4 pools (The main resort has 1 outdoor and 1 indoor pool, the waterfront collection has an outdoor pool, just few steps away from the lake and the lake house has an indoor pool). Our room was so spacious and clean, had a view of both the lake and the pool and a small balcony as well. The best part of this resort is that you don t need to rent any kayaks, pedal boats, canoes or paddle boards because they all comes for free with the hotel and you can use them all day long and as much as you want. In addition, the resort offers champagne while waiting for your check-in, coffee and tea in the morning, water lemon and delicious cookies in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Only Breakfast wasn t included in the package. Highly recommended!!!

Our first time staying at this hotel and we were impressed by the excellent hospitality and the warm welcome we received from the reception staff. Clean and spacious rooms, some with lake views, convenient and free parking garage. It has 2 bars, one is located in the lobby and the other one in the Dancing Bears Restaurant which is located down stairs. Friendly Reception and Reservations Staff.

Great location, nice lobby as you check in, good parking area with enough spots. The room was a good size, great view of the lake, only thing our room was not vacuumed and under the beds it had been awhile since the last vacuum.

Nice location, clean rooms. Booked for a view of the lake and we were put in a room with little to no lake view. Staff was very accommodating and moved us promptly when we brought this to their attention. Hotel restaurant was very good as well.

I booked 2 nights in the lake house and 2 nights i...

I booked 2 nights in the lake house and 2 nights in the waterfront collection with my family of 4 which included 2 kids. The location can't be beat with all the mirror lake activities and lake access, plus the proximity to main street and all the shops and restaurant, and proximity to the marina. This is my second visit to the resort. However there were a few things that fell short this visit. First, for the lake house...I specifically requested a 2nd floor room when I made my reservation online but was given a 1st floor room. They told us if we requested in advance they would have reserved one for us....but i left that in my "special request notes" in my reservation so is that not considered in advance? Anywau, the room appeared clean when you first walk in but upon closer look you can see dust and pet hair on the carpet. There was even a cob web right on the AC where the buttons were. There was only one small garbage can in the bathroom and no where else in the room. There was no garbage can anywhere else in the building either except one in the lobby, and that can was overflowing with garbage too. It was pretty annoying when we kept looking for a place to throw out our trash. There was no room service or housekeeping which was inconvenient. Aside from guests, you hardly saw any staff around at all. They said that it was due to covid but seemed like a lame excuse to charge guests full price and provide limited service. Almost everything else has resumed normal activity at lake placid including indoor dining with the use of masks so I don't see why room service or housekeeping can't be offered if guests are out of their room and have requested it. Also, the dark decor...grey plaster walls/black carpet...I thought it was pretty cool and contemporary 3 years ago but this time around it just felt dingy. Anyway, that's my two cents on the lake house. The waterfront collection was a big upgrade from the lake house. The bathrooms were huge, the decor was bright (but still pet hair in various corners). At first I was bummed when I saw that I had a patio and not a balcony. I assumed our room would have a balcony but it was actually a patio access. I was annoyed by this because people can literally look into your room when you have the curtains pulled and our neighbors have even accidentally sat on our patio chairs. But I quickly learned to appreciate it because I realized how incredibly nice and convenient it was to be right off the outdoor pool and lake with all the activities just steps outside your room. Overall this is still in my opinion the best place to stay in lake placid, and I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend. However I hope management steps up the cleaning and resumes full service asap...oh and steps it up with the garbage cans.

We just returned from Lake Placid for the Ironman ...

We just returned from Lake Placid for the Ironman race. We stayed at the High Peaks resort in the Lake House. This resort consists of a few buildings including the pool and lake equipment (kayaks, SUP boards) were across the street.
Our room was quite large and overlooked the lake. The room was clean and had that distinct lake lodge scent. The bathroom was small and could only accommodate on person at a time even though the room could hold 4.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Anything they could do to make your stay better, they did.
The only caveat in a great stay was the day of the race we left our room at 5:00am. When we returned with our athlete at 5:00pm., the room had not been touched by housekeeping. I called. It took time to get fresh towels and we had to leave again to have the room cleaned. Not the best timing with an exhausted athlete.

Good place but extremely long lines for boats, kayaks, etc. Better to just pay and rent at one of rental places. It literally kills the day. Resort must be going through tough times. It is worth donating a kayak or two if you like the place.

A very nice place - stayed 3 nights. Upon checking in we received a complementary glass of champagne. This was a very nice touch. Went to the bar at the Dancing Bears Restaurant and tried a Fireside Sipper. The bartender Jamielynn explained this award winning drink to our group. I would recommend trying one!

Will stay here again.

Sold as a 4 star hotel. It has a lobby worth a 4 stars hotel, but the rooms are more 3-3.5 stars max: Very small, nice bathroom, cheap carpet, cheap mattress.
Indoor Pool not accessible easily to everybody (especially if you are staying at lake house or waterfront). You need to cross the street...
Nice view, but depends where your room is located. We had the pool wooden fence in our face, but the mirror lake right behind it. So good view but not great. However its nice you can use kayaks and pedalos easily.
All in all its a great hotel, but the way its advertised raises expectations to a bar they do not meet.

My husband and I stayed at high peaks for our wedding this past fall. We held our brunch here and our guests were raving about the food! We planned a simple wedding but the event staff made every effort to make it feel as special as a bigger event. They even surprised us with a heart themed ice sculpture that looked beautiful against the backdrop of the mountains.

Great place with great view of mirror lake. Friendly staff with great attitude. They helped me jump start my car couple of times, extended check out time on request, got stuff to room pretty quick as soon as I requested them. The rooms were clean and good. Location was also perfect. My car went dead and we pretty much walked around places during entire stay. Entire family enjoyed the good at dancing bear restaurant. Will definitely recommend the place

Even though it was a cloudy, snowy day in lake placid, it was still incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The staff were incredibly helpful during check in and were even accommodating enough to extend our check out by two hours so that my daughter could nap before the drive home. The room was honestly the cleanest, most spacious, most modern room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was equally, if not more impressive. The icing on the cake was the sliding glass door out to the lakefront. My golly. I ve got to take the family back in the summer.

The staff and hotel was phenomenal. There was a free canoe rental with our room. A 2 minute walk to the main road where all the lovely restaurants, shops, and lake/water front was located. Their was several indoor and outdoor pools to chose from. I only reveled in the indoor heated pools. The rooms were uber comfortable and clean. I cant wait to go back and I definitely recommend.

Very clean and beautiful location with easy access to stores and food. Right next to the ice rink and plenty of attractions to see and if that isn't enough. The lakeside is beautiful and plentiful of scenery to relax to.

Location is nice. We had a very nice view from our room on the 3rd floor. Beds are mediocre. Bathroom looks nice but there are serious issues with the sink design. The sliding bathroom door is partially frosted and it is easily possible to view inside. Check in time is 4pm and checkout time is 11am. The Dancing Bear restaurant has passing service unless they are busy at which point they completely fell apart. When we entered there were 2 patrons who I heard say "Should we just leave?" The hostess was so frazzled she could barely speak in a complete sentence and gave no wait time estimate. So we dined elsewhere. Skate America was in town and I'm sure that overwhelmed them due to the extremely large influx of people.

My stay here has been absolutely amazing. The rooms are nice and you actually feel like you re at someone s home in Lake Placid, NY! All of the staff members are kind, intelligent, and are willing to go above and beyond their duties. Jamielynn at Dancing Bears was very nice and recommended a great meal for me to have (steak, eggs, and home fries). I ll definitely be coming back here next time I m up in Lake Placid, NY and want to escape downstate NY. Thanks guys!

We went there because we had a great deal. It's okay resort has three buildings one is right on the lake and the other two are across the street from mirror lake. The rooms have a little bit of a mildew smell their pretty old somewhat clean. There are other great resorts in the area for the same price.I was just doing some research before reserving this place

This was our ninth visit to the High Peaks Resort. A wonderful stay as usual the staff can't do enough to make you feel so welcome. Our go to person Si always has a great welcome for us and always so helpful. All the staff are so pleasant from the bartenders to the waiters/waitresses to the front desk staff they all make sure your stay is one you'll remember whether it's a good drink, snack or just putting a log on the fire so your warm and satisfied. Each night we were greeted warmly by the manager Matthew Wheeler. Thanks again to everyone at the High Peaks and PG we'll see you all in the summer.

Overall the resort was pretty good, however it does show its age.The reason for the 2 stars is customer service. When we got there we were downgraded and didn't realize until we hauled everything over to the water front. We were suppose to have a waterfront suite and did not get one. After calling we were told it was unavailable due to maintenance issues Why didn't anyone tell us at check in??..they didn't even offer a price change for the lower level room until I asked?! This was truly disappointing after a 5 hour drive. Also asked for a later ck out due to the longer check in mess, and loss of time there..but got a big NO. We are now dealing with the additional charges on our credit card that were added instead of subtracted for this too. This is turning out to be more work than a great memory!
