Very innovative exhibition space, I especially enjoyed the Steve Bannon: a propaganda retro-spective. That put me in mind of another evil propagandist herman goebbels.

Was a bit surprised by the exhibits here- one on the cultural and political dialogues associated with hoodies, one reimagining birdhouses... it was unusual and there wasn t a lot of information to help connect the viewer to the art/artist vision.
Unclear and incoherent exhibition about fashion. The intention is completely unclear. You better visit a second-hand clothing market. Can you also bring something for the same money.
Nice building, nice exhibitions. It is a pity that it is no longer just about architecture, although some exhibitions nicely make the link between multiple disciplines.
Rather high-flying. I'm not stupid, but I really didn't understand.
Terrible exposition. 14 euros threw away. It has nothing to do with design and architecture, and there are really few stuff to see.
Saw an excellent exhibition on the history of screensavers here!
Great museum in a beautiful neighbourhood, excellent expositions
Really nice exhibits, even if you are not an architect.
Also has a nice cafe and you can enter for free with a Rotterdampas.
The museum for architecture enthusiasts! An almost magical place.
Museum for design, architecture and e-culture, definitely a must see if your interested in any of the before mentioned disciplines
Even better than expected. The exhibits (including when we were there: Dissident Gardens) were all beautifully arranged and everything is nice and spacious. Nice to have a look at the existing bookshop afterwards; many beautiful books! Combination with house Sonneveld is recommended. Parking nearby and indoor catering, so fully equipped.
Always fun.
Certainly separately, rarely main stream
The exhibitions are merit but I wish the information and the exhibitions themselves can be more interactive.
Nice museum, beautiful spaces. Often surprisingly beautifully filled, those spaces,
This was well worth the money (10e). The permanent exhibitions were interactive and it kept us focused all the time. Good time!
An unusual arrangement of space, hit the museum night, there were many performances and performances
Beautiful sculpture on the doorstep. Building is also not bad. What can be seen inside is always to be seen. A stone's throw from several good museums, so if you are in the area.
Many good events and lectures are organised by the Instituut, however if you are looking for a nice exhibit of Dutch architecture that is NOT the place to go to. Exhibitions are pretty small and the best one was not relevant at all, though pretty good. 4 out of 5 for events and 3/5 for the displays.
The place is fantastic and worth spending if only to see the building.
The permanent exhibition gives a complete and entertaining vision of the history of architecture in the Netherlands.
The ticket entitles you to visit the magnificent Sonneveld House.
A senseless hall with boer cage clothing, and an exhibition that tries to put hoodies in a bad light. A lot of costs to think of and build all that junk.
During my visit I found this place to be bland and unsure of itself mostly. The building itself is beautiful but all the exhibitions I saw were discreet and dull. However you do however get free entry to Sonneveld House (a wonderful modernist building next door) with your ticket and that is one of Rotterdam's treasures. A must-see. Only visit Het Nieuwe Institut if you have done everything else you want to do in Rotterdam.
Very interesting exhibition and performances! Worth to check out if you are into contemporary art, design and culture. It's the third time I'm here and still loving it!
Their exhibitions are experimental, bold, creative, expansive and with many profound meanings. I couldn't agree more to the use of the word "Institute" instead of "Museum". I'd be so proud of this place if I had been living in Rotterdam.
Everytime I come to Rotterdam I always pass by for a visit. The exhibits are always different and interesting.
Tousled state. Only for freaks and insiders. Total lack of explanation. Nice for Buddhists and people looking for alienation.
I visited the exhibition 'Steve Bannon, a propaganda retroperspective'. Very interesting but not very accessible, partly because of explanations with long and unnecessarily complicated sentences. Furthermore, every exhibition on the 3rd floor is unfortunately a torture for people with a fear of heights. You walk over grids so you can / have to look down meters. Architecturally sound but quite worthless from a user perspective! :(
One of the best museums in the Netherlands and a must-see for lovers of design, architecture and avant-garde. The programming is of rare relevance and always offers questions and points of view both on what our current society is and on what it could become.
The building is superb, the exhibitions, as much for their content as their staging, are excellent and always very well explained although experimental, and easy to access to a large audience, if tempted that we take the time to read a little. I go back there as soon as a new exhibition opens.
Very interesting museum! I loved the material exhibition and the writing accompanied with it, very well done!
Oh also don't miss their bookshop! It's very worth the visit too!
The bar of this museum is just perfect, it is actually the reason why I go there.
Unfortunately, the entire standard collection is not there. We came for architecture, there is currently only fashion. I did not find it clearly stated on the site that there is nothing of the new institute.
Visited in May 2017. The exhibition about screensavers was unexpectedly interesting.
Fine exhibitions, but definitely too expensive an entrance fee for what you get.
I wanted to see the exhibition about van Doesburg. It turned out to be in the basement and only accessible from the back because another hall was still under construction. The bookshop turned out to be closed for the whole day an hour later. And I also thought it was a bit messy. But nice people who help you and kindly show you the way. Nice terrace. Reasonable cappuccino in a paper cup. So all in all it was not such a bad visit at all. The Doesburg exhibition was worthwhile. There weren't that many visitors yet.
The NAI is a very nice museum with good exhibitions. You can also enjoy a delicious lunch there.
Stuck to me. Did not find the exhibition interesting.
very nice building and very nice exhibition spaces, located in a nice neighborhood. Entrance fee a bit expensive as usual in museums in the Netherlands.
