Can't understand the success of the two, their buildings are ugly no more.
Can't understand the success of the two, their buildings are ugly no more.
They are not able to design a public building that is accessible for everyone. They just neglect the users needs. So happend with the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
you guys make amazing things.
happy to have lived in an old building designed by you (the schwitter one).
proud to have you in basel
For what I could see, the architecture of Herzog & de Meuron is far superior to that of Botta, which I find too "self-centered". Also to that of Le Corbusier, who did not take enough into account the humans who had to live in his buildings. In his time Le Corbu was overvalued and his creations have not passed the weight of the years. H & dM remind me of the light and human side of Art Deco.
Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, who had known each other since primary school, founded their office in Basler Rheinschanze 6 in 1978 after graduating in architecture from ETH Zurich in 1975 and working as an assistant there. In addition to this headquarters, they now have five further branches in London, Hamburg, Madrid, New York City and Hong Kong. The company employs a total of 420 people.
Herzog & de Meuron became internationally known with the renovation of the Tate Gallery of Modern Art in London, the two stadium buildings St. Jakob-Park in Basel and Allianz Arena in Munich, the National Stadium in Beijing the Elbphilharmonie, etc.
One of the most renowned architecture firms of our time with great success all over the world.
