A great school, the culinary arts program is amazing and would definitely recommend going here. Lots of friendly students and staff and lot of different majors to choose from.
The electives here suck. Then the school resources are very disorganized.
The instructors I have worked with are personal, and professional. The college has provided real world technical skills, applicable to American and International standards. This enables success as we continue to learn, dream, and prosper.
Good college with many programs. But very money oriented. They want the money right away before anything else. Even as i was using my VA 1606 benefits, the lady was very hesitate about the amount she would give me so i can purchase my books. "Make sure you pay it back as soon as possible", she said as i got my slip
I like how North Hennepin does their tuition. Attend class and during the middle of the semester is when the tuition is due. Oh well, I'll embrace the suck for now.
Julie in the bookstore is rude and unprofessional. They messed up my order, was charged for books I didn't have in my cart, and was very confusing and she kept trying to shove me out the door. Another lady at the desk was on her phone doing nothing important, I stood in line for 15 minutes and finally a nice gentleman asked if I needed help. Unfortunately he couldn't help but I do appreciate there being one nice person in that place. Also the guy who stands outside of the store all day who was also very rude, pushy, and made me feel really unwelcome. He shouted at me for walking up to the door and said I had to go through the line. Give him another job!! The people at the front desk are very nice and all the greeters they had on 8/27/2018 were very welcoming. Keep in mind many students were beginning their first day. So I expected to feel welcomed and accepted. The campus store is a total joke, and I wish I didn't have to give them another penny. I will be following up with the school to report this incident.
HTC seems to be outdated took building trades back in the day. The teacher was very biased and had his favorites. Did not learn the hands on aspect of it very well. Ed the building trades teacher was a lousy teacher! By the way HTC does not have a plumbing program that's what I want to major in. I'll have to go to St. Cloud for that.
Great Transportation programs at this school! The teachers all care greatly for their students success in the field, teaching industry relevant information.
As a college, HTC doesn't really have much to offer. The student clubs are sparse-to-none; the teachers and classes are bare-minimum (they don't even teach Calculus 1 here, for instance), but hey, at least it's cheap.
Financial Aid and Admissions office is terrible!!!! They flat out lied to me and caught them in the lie!!!!!
My program seems a day late and a dollar short. Spent way too much time learning obsolete technology. Course doesn't prepare students for real world situations. Too much theory, not enough hands on-real life experience that prepares students for things that really happen on a day to day basis in the field.
They Will help you to achieve your goals. Thank you H. T.
The bookstore is a joke. The bookstore manager didn't want to help me with my concerns and I could hear her laughing in the background. They don't care about you just the money. Classes seem great so far though, teachers are nice.
The bookstore is a joke! Rent your books online. Don t bother with the hassle of getting them through the college. Waste of money and they never buy back the books. This past semester for 2020 they said my books had no value, but they sure sold them to me at a hefty value of almost $300 just 4 months ago! The overall communication from this school is terrible! Their internet barely worked and their printers are older than dirt. The equipment used for training is the original from the 70s so once we actually get into our jobs we will be clueless and have to be retrained on up to date equipment. Only program worth taking here is the horticultural program ran by Deb that my husband took.
I have been a student. Given a chance to do this again I would have gone to a four year college instead.
This college is very dicent. I know for sure there are good and bad instructors every where and every school. Most people in this school they are workable people.
I met with the head of the audio engineering program to talk about the music production degree. He was unprofessional, insulted me, my previous college (McNally Smith) and bragged about his experience. He seems to be stuck in the Pro Tools era, with no interest in any other DAWs or recording methods.
Other faculty members were nice, but if you're looking at getting any type of audio degree, look elsewhere.
Took a course here after getting laid off (since it was free). Instructor was pretty clueless and I didn't learn anything before I dropped out and took another job.
Good school I work there part time helping to teach Machine trades.
The college has very advanced technology and the place is very clean, and affordable. This is a good place to start your college career.
I took three classes at the school. Best instructors I have ever had.
Graduated from Powder Metallurgy in 1985. But several years later the company I was working for in Colorado closed their doors. I no longer work in powder metallurgy, but the training at HTC was very good, real world applicable, and I'm sorry that I was unable to stay in that field of work.
I had a very positive experience at Hennepin Technical College (graduated 2013). Like any school, you get your good professors and bad ones. But if you are looking for an affordable education with the essentials and up-to-date technology, HTC has everything you need. I also found that they had flexible scheduling for me since I was working full time at the same time.
Decent school, most of the curriculum here is relevant. I like that it is hands on mostly vs all classroom learning.
I haven't taken any courses here but I have tried the disc golf course. It's not really too challenging but it's a good course to open up on your drive. Major downfalls are lack of signage and no official tees to throw from.
I am interested in online accounting classes as I work full time. What a hokey pokey place this is! I now know why Donald in pre-enrollment was very vague about online programs. Online Accounting Principles 1 is very hard to navigate through all the materials required and put them together to figure out what is what. I am 3 days into the class and I have not even started my course work as I am still trying to figure out what to do and where to go on the computer programs. Spent hours and even had a friend look at it to help me. So disappointed I need to spend this much time just trying to basically "open the book". A huge let down. Then My Excel course book is for Excel 2016 and the HTC software is Excel 365 so the book doesn't follow the software! I was told by the instructor I "should be able to complete my assignments"! What? Course materials did not state I needed to have Excel 2016 program on my own to complete this course. UPDATE: I dropped my Accounting Principles class within the free drop period and now the finance office can't "See my drop" so they cannot process a refund! OMG! I spent 45 minutes trying to get to someone who knows what is going on and my Drop was processed correctly. I can't afford Rasmussen College which I hear is much better online program, so I am stuck with struggling through this joke of a college. Where did the HTC employees get their degree? Clown college? Not happy at ALL!
