This workplace has a few problems. I m a DSP (Direct Support Professional) and I m a current nursing student. I wanted to get a second job so I applied here and got hired. They made the job sound so perfect. Light housekeeping, conversation with the clients, shower/bathe, etc. This was what I was looking for because it s what I currently do. I started and finished with all the training within a few days and then I got my schedule. I quit within two weeks because of how awful it was. First, this job is not Home Health Care. This job is a glorified maid. Repeat. A GLORIFIED MAID. Every house I worked in all I did was clean. I worked in 14 different homes if that tells you anything. It wasn t light housekeeping either. All the clients made me get on my hands and knees to scrub their floors or shower floors. I was being made to clean an entire house in 1-3 hours. I was cleaning areas that I don t even clean in my own home. Second, the company has the right to just switch your schedule in an instant. If someone calls off or your original client cancels services they will call you and have you go somewhere else without even asking. It s because you re scheduled for a certain amount of hours so they can pull or place you anywhere they like during those hours without your permission. Third, they don t pay for gas mileage. Even though you drive SO much. I was driving about 15-20 minutes in between each clients house. You re spending more money in gas then what you re making. Fourth, the pay is laughable. This job is a joke. They need to be more truthful with what the job entitles. The only thing they have going for them is all the office staff are amazing, the clients are amazing, and how they are dedicated to helping people.
