Went for lunch today with a dog and a friend. Service was superb, we were all well looked after (the dog got a bowl of water right away)! The food (cheese burger and a hummus and Jackfruit wrap) were amazing and well worth it. Our server was so lovely and very attentive.

Somewhere to Eat... 1 x Carnivore 1 x Vegetarian

Somewhere to Eat... 1 x Carnivore 1 x Vegetarian

On Sunday evening, after attending the local cinema, my adult son suggested we go out to eat. Fine with me. Our first couple of choices had stopped serving at 3pm.
So, I suggested The Braunton Inn.
In the past I have had week day lunches AND Sunday lunch.
This particular time was a disappointment.
The fact it was 'alright' and neither one of us had to cook nor wanted to cook.
The roast potatoes were sOoo difficult to cut. Cut from one side and flipped it over to cut through!
The vegetarian option was a roasted tomato tart.
The pastry so tough it shot off the plate when I cut into it.

Also, no warning as to the temperature of the tart. So extremely hot - hot enough to scorch my tongue.
(my tongue 24 hours later, continues to be feel burnt)
Son opted for the turkey roast and it was acceptable.
But we both needed to add seasoning.
Obviously cooked without salt. Now I understand it is controversial to cook with salt. But in my experience cooking with a small amount of salt, you use less than adding on after.
Reaching for the salt grinder on the table - it was empty.
Both mains served with an individual gravy boat.
After asking for the dessert menu, it took 5 minutes + to arrive.
Having said that - my dessert was a 5* dessert.
A coconut panna cotte made without gelatine.
Which is a treat.
Son's individual fruit pie was not enjoyed as much, because of the pastry.

The staff were completely pleasant even if they tended to less than quick.
But perfectly amiable.

Definitely go if you need a meal and don't want to cook it yourself.

Staff dithered attempting to find a table when we first arrived. Restaurant not even half occupied at the time.
Several none restaurant tables still had dirty plates etc.
I paid when I ordered our food and drinks.
We then had to wait about 50 minutes before our moderately warm food arrived.
Several other diners arrived after us and were served before us.
Yes we complained but the so called manager was only interested in whether or not the food was okay.
No offer of compensation.
At no time during our meal did staff check to see if we were satisfied.
We do not recommend the Braunton Inn at all.
No stars.

Food very poor quality for price, burgers were cold after waiting in an empty bar for 15 minutes to order and then waiting 35 minutes for food to arrive. My sons chicken burger had clearly been sitting on a hot plate for ages as chicken was too tough to eat and bun was rock solid. Quality has varied over the years, but definitely won't be returning after this one.

Had an excellent dinner here last night. Friendly service and great food, set in cosy surroundings. Would highly recommend.

Only issue is the poor state of the slip road leading to the car park, which is full of potholes (not what you want when leaving the adjoining A road at speed!).

We weren't able to book ahead but turned up about 17.30.
There was a long queue to order at bar for food and drinks. We then had a wait of about an hour for food. The food was expensive and not good value. The chips were cold. We had to find our own cutlery. I like the sitting but wouldn't recommend eating here.

The pub was brilliant, lots of places to sit outside and inside. The food was good value for money and big roast lunch. Beautiful view too. They were a bit understaffed on the bar so people queuing to order food.

Went for a meal purely because of the view and the premises looked grand and inviting. We decided on the beer battered cod and triple cooked chips what a mistake. When our food came out I could smell old cooking oil on the food probally not been changed in ages bearing in mind it's the beginning of the season and
every thing should be fresh. The cod was tastless almost like water so frozen not fresh Triple cooked chips were not. Didn't say anything at the time as didn't want to spoil a lovely summer evening. When you go for a meal whatever the occasion you expect to be served with better food than you could cook yourself. Little thing that would help is being told by the bar staff to collect your own cutlery before your meal arrives. Certainly will not be going there again on our next visit to the area. Oh and also being a pet owner myself it is good that dogs are allowed but was a bit bemused that the staff allowed customer to place their dog on the table in the out side eating area .No doubt this table will be used by another customer later that evening.
