Food was good, but service was very slow when they got busy
Food was lovely and hot and great views and staff was friendly
Polite staff , very nice food , nearest thing to a complaint is that you have to go on a trek round the beautiful and clean building to get to the gents
Good food, great value if you choose the midweek menu, staff very friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. Nice, clean restaurant.
Nice food and friendly staff . Just a shame there wasn't more lactose options
Stopped here for a light lunch on our way to Saunton Sands and Croyde. The building was originally built as a dwelling but eventually became a folly to a home set further back from the estuary; more recently it was a night club and now a "chain" pub come restaurant owned by Vintage Inns. The service was prompt and friendly but the food a disappointment. The soup, although home made, was cold, and the bread that accompanied was one of those rolls that could be stored in its factory-packed cellophane for weeks and as such was awful. The triple cooked chips seemed made of reconstituted potato as they were light and oily on the inside. I noticed a customer on a nearby table trying to hack their way into a serving of apple pie which resembled an ancient hockey puck, which indeed it must have done because I heard them raise the issue upon paying the bill; they did receive a gracious apology from their waiter but that was all. Based on this form I would not recommend the Braunton Inn as a memorable place to eat, except for all the wrong reasons.
Good grub and views over the taw from the outside terrace.
Forget that it's a Mitchell's & Butler, it's a really unique pub serving lovely beers and great food. The place is beautiful and the staff are all friendly and helpful and provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If I'm ever in this area again I'll definitely come back!
Somewhat disappointed that the daily 'specials' were not available at 12.30pm. good location and premises.
I really enjoyed this definitely would recommend for families and couples
Had a good meal when we visited last week
Good location with views over estuary
Beer garden great in good weather
Plenty of selection of good beers and lagers also wine list is very reasonable
They were very clean and took their responsibilities to a high level. Tables well spaced out. Staff very friendly and food was excellent. They even served me something that was not on the menu. Definitely would go again.
Popped in for early supper a warm welcome and lovely window seat looking over the estuary. Food was served quickly and nice and hot we had starter and main and drinks , very good value for money and presented lovely , very attentive staff who kindly chased me to bring my phone I had left , would recommend and would definitely return ,
OK service.
OK food
Staff more interested in chatting than clearing plates. Checking back etc.
Blonde girl obviously had more interesting views on her MOBILE PHONE.
This is a shame as we love to visit here. Such a beautiful building and calming view.
Sorry manager Simon.
At 4.50pm this afternoon I was forced to leave what looked like a beautiful spot to end our day's travelling. Having aproached the host with a smile I was most rudely rejected. The young woman on the door told me they were approaching the 'bookings only time' and if we didn't have a booking then there was no space for us. I explained that we only wanted one drink on the patio and there were only 4 people out there. The young lady serving behind the bar joined ther conversation with "there are only two of us here and there is no way you are getting in". Now whilst the words used were not welcoming the hostile tone and aggressive body language SCREAMED at me. I will not be back....
Staff were second to none and the food really hit the spot
First time back since the renovation. Love that it's called Heanton Court again (it's what everyone still called it anyway!). Food was good, nice choice of vegetarian options and staff were attentive. Looking forward to coming again soon.
Drove from Ilfracombe to eat here and was definitely not disappointed. Amazingly friendly staff (julia was so lovely) and the food was brilliant. Thanks again.
Food was really nice, and drink far cheaper than expected
Amazing view over the estuary from the windows and outdoor seating area. Good food. Staff could be more welcoming!
Nice location and electric car charger on site, main reason for stopping here. Dinner wasn't bad and staff very friendly.
Awful service and food was adverage, if they have it that is! Very highly priced for poor quality food, staff that serve you in baseball caps and casual clothes. Toilets are a mission away from the restaurant as well.
Pleasant break for a drink on the Tarka trail. Sat outside with the dog.
Nice pub with views of the estuary. Worth a visit. I had gammon and eggs and the slice of gammon was about an inch thick! Awesome
Very relaxed, spacious. Enjoyed a nice cold drink with my children after a walk on the tarka line
Went for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Had the roast dinner followed by treacle tart. Service friendly but very slow (they were busy). Roast was good but not enough gravy. Treacle tart did not come with accompaniments advertised which was disappointing. Very dog friendly, we took our little dog with us and there were lots of other dogs there for her to say hello to. Toilets up lots of stairs so not ideal.
Great location, beautiful building and lovely cosy interior. Didn't eat so can't comment on quality of food. No real ales at the time of visiting.
Staff were very patient when trying to accommodate our varying dietary needs. Food was very tasty and all as ordered.
Beautiful setting and lovely staff but when you've only got 2 people trying to do table service for 30 tables and I have to wait 25 minutes to order a beer. Not the staffs fault that's a management error
I really like this place, the atmosphere is good and the staff are really nice. Food is simple pub food done well.
Fantastic setting near the coast with an excellent range of food for young and old.
Family lunch here today was spot on we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and had the perfect waitress too!!!!
Lovely view and nice pub. Food is OK but often small portions for the price. Staff often seem to struggle, even when it isn't busy and food seems to get delayed frequently.
Food is fine but not hot, and service is ridiculously slow, we had to wait at least 25mins after each course to order the next. Won t be going back.
Beautiful place to visit and to relax and have a drink not had any food there yet it looked lovely
45 minute wait for food, which had to be sent back because it wasn't cooked properly. Sorry, but wont be visiting again.
Staff were polite, pleasant & helpful. My starter was lovely but my steak was terrible; more fat and grisel than lean meat and was undercooked, certainly not medium rare as I'd requested.
Nice seating out the back but sometimes old plates get left out for a while. Can be noisy with kids running around. Food so so, beer usually good. It's a handy location when heading back to Barnstaple from Saunton etc
I haven't tried the food ,but the furniture & furnishings atmosphere are very good. service was good and setting overlooking river taw is all good.
Sitting comfortably at the fireplace like the English gentry after the hunt. Our hunting dogs relax while we smoke our pipes, drink pale ale and discuss the latest developents around Wischmob. You dont know Wischmob? It is Boris Johnsons nickname in Germany. Because of his funny hair. Translate it as wiping mop and you have the picture. We love you eccentric englishmen and still hope you will remain in the EU. While we analyse the situation we enjoy your fantastic beer brands and wait for our food. Unfortunately, our meals didn't come at the same time. One German had already finished eating, the other was still waiting. We understand your strategy: you let the time factor play for you until the other players are desperate and release you from the EU playing field. Cheer up ..... we will come back anyway. Your beer is far too good to live without.
Cosy pub with a nice view and reliable food from Vintage.
Haven't been here for nearly 20 years. Lovely to see it refurbished to a high standard with cosy real fires. I'm sure it's even better in summer, looking out over the estuary.
Great place for Xmas dinner! Great food, friendly staff and the place looks great after a little makeover. Recommended
Incredible food, very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere throughout
Absolutely beautiful place and very nice food very reasonable prices would definitely recommend
Good spot for some lunch in the sun. When the weather good the views are great and patio is the place to be seated. Food was tasty so was the beer. Not the greatest selection of beers but perfectly adequate. The food was tasty and very filling.
A delightful lunch in a great setting on the way back to Plymouth from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe. Food delicious and staff extremely friendly, will return if in the area
Nice position and good pub meal but short of staff and real ale.
We come here every year for my parents anniversary. Every time it has been great food, great service and a great atmosphere!
Lovely food and wonderful service in what felt to be a safe and carefully planned environment. Thank you first meal out in six months!
Good menu choices and some lovely pizzas, service was very slow unfortunately and we had to correct the bill. Nice location and decor.
Lovely pub. Great food. Stunning views. Little slow on service but they were busy. Friendly staff. Lots of room inside as well as outside. I would advise booking and that can be done easily through their website. They'd had a power cut the night before and phoned us to advise that their card payment system was down to give us the option of cancelling our booking or getting cash in the way. Great customer service all round. Highly recommended 5
Much better of late good helpings and good service
Beautiful historic building situated on the tarka trail
Beautiful setting.. Fabulous food..Only complaint outside tables are dirty and not wiped over when cleared by staff..
Very welcoming with good outside space. Dog friendly, allowed in the bar and outside. Staff very friendly and accommodating, and a good choice of food, all very tasty. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I'm a vegan, and although there were a few vegetarian options it would have been nice to have at least one vegan option.
Expensive and didn't have potatoes on a Saturday night, early evening
Enjoyed a quick drink here, a pit stop from cycling on the Tarka Trail. Lovely staff and beer garden.
Food was good, I had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly.
The service was really good and the waitresses couldn't do enough for us, very helpful and professional, top marks.
Log fire great food and clean pint. Friendly staff definately recomended
Right on the river and cycle path. Lovely setting great service and really good food.
Really lovely Roast and the daughter had fish and chips (on a sunday!) So everyone was happy.
The refurb has been completed in double quick time and looks appropriate giving a more spacious feel. Improved lighting and sound systems will make for a more flexible venue. The gardens Have been given a good once over and are sure to attract even more visitors in the summer now that it is clearly visible from the main road.
Great food home cooked large portions and a great view
Great place, location is stunning. Lovely to stop by when walking or cycling. Dog friendly with doggy water station and doggy treats. Staff were lovely and very helpful
Lovely place. Friendly efficient staff. My first visit and the food was lovely.
I will go again
The view from the carpark was an ever improving scene, as the rain had stopped, the mist had cleared and the sunshine had started.
A great place to eat your lunch.
I didn't frequent the pub, so am unable to make any comments.
We consider it as our local. Atmosphere is relaxing, congenial and welcoming. Staff care about you and are helpful and friendly. Food is good but expensive. However the menu has lots of choice and is always updated. Restaurant area is pleasant and quaint. The roaring fire in winter cannot be beaten.
Terrible.
Waited forever to get a drink. Then over an hr to get food. When food turned up the portions were pitiful and the food uncooked. The "rare" beef was plain raw. The veg all uncooked with a strange bitter taste. All the food was luke warm. Soggy batter puddings. You get the picture. Keep your money and drive on past.
Nice place, good parking and child-friendly without feeling like a creche. Good steak but some of the other menu items were a bit uninspiring. Not the cheapest but decent enough quality for the price paid.
Beautiful setting for restaurant, unfortunately doesn t deliver, unavailability of dishes on menu, over cooked food, drinks order wrong and dishing up food that didn t match what is on menu, overpriced, rubbish experience and won t be back.
Lovely place, perfect for walking dog after lovely meal
Good main food. Dessert was misplaced and when found it was obvious it had been waiting to be served for a while.
Good choice on menu, food came quickly and service was good
