Excellent choice for a chill vibe and classy cocktail right around dusk. Standout service here from all members of their team. Cocktail menu is obviously top notch - mine was perfectly balanced and went down far too easily.

Dec 23, 2020 was my last radiation treatment and marked the end of all my cancer treatments. .
I chose to celebrate at hawksworth for lunch right after my final treatment. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The restaurant went over and above to ensure this day was beyond special and memorable. I found it completely ironic that we were seated in front of a large piece of art that read; "too cool to die" I couldn't have said it better
Thank you to the management, Jayton the amazing Som for introducing me to an amazing sparkling wine and Matthew for the incredible service. Thank you to the entire staff. You truly went over and above.
Excellent experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable and the food was creative and succulent. It's not as expensive as one might imagine as well, would give it a shot as a treat for yourself if you want a great dining experience.
Best omelette I have ever had. Really creamy and soft and cooked to its perfection. 1. Great food choices 2. Excellent service 3. Calm ambience. Loved it. Would highly recommend.
It's a fancier place the food is good if you know what you want to eat. I tried their tasting menu and it was not good. Couldn't really eat half the stuff they were serving.
Exceptional service - I believe her name was Jenna? Worked in the bar with tattoos and braided hair. Very professional and bubbly! She made our experience worthwhile while the food was subpar. We hope she receives the praise that she deserves.
For the food, the presentation was phenomenal. Unfortunately, the baby back ribs were unreasonably dry. The charcuterie board by itself would not be a wise choice. Thanks to Jenna(?) her addition of brie triple cream, sharp cheddar, and blue cheese with marmalade on the side was a great addition to the charcuterie. The Alberta beef steak tartare was well received by my partner but I believe it could have been improved on for flavouring.
For drinks as well, the signature drink "wa-Hawk-ah!" tasted as a negroni than any resemblance of a mezcal-based drink. However, the pink elephant was well received.
Ever eaten something and the second it touched your tongue you knew it was wrong and wanted to spit it out? Hawksworth is the exact opposite, you'll want to hold off swallowing every bite since it both feels and tastes unbelievable. Impeccable service and great ambiance.
My all time best in Vancouver. Consistently creative, exploratory, and amazingly delicious. Only found equals touring in Europe at 2+ star Michelin restaurants.
I had the burger for lunch. Objectively it was a very good burgwr but for some reason it didn't connect with me in the way I thought it would. No desire to eat it again like I would some other burgers. Weird.
Unbelievable dining experience that was well worth the elevated $$$. Ultracool decor, unpretentious and extremely attentive staff. Unparalleled service. Best dessert I've ever had in my life.
One of the best fine dining experience I've had in Canada. Me and my friend tried the tasting menu and it was AMAZING! Every dish was nice with interesting wine pairings! The only thing I would say is that the waiter always had an unhappy face.
A Vancouver institution for good reason. Warm and attentive service frames refined Pacific Northwest cuisine with exuberant flavour and exceptional lightness. You don't know what dining means in Vancouver until you experience dinner at Hawksworth.
I strongly suggest visiting this restaurant for special occasions coz the amazing staffs here did so many touches to make you feel special. Me and my partner was celebrating 4th anniversary here yesterday. The receptionist greeted us with happy anniversary , and provided 2 champagne and a greeting card to all the staffs signature on it! I am very surprised and feels this restaurant really care about their customer s experience. The chicken breast is crispy. The pork belly& scallop is an art of balancing all the flavors in a dish, the sour apple sauce, the sweet apple gel, crispy pork and fresh scallop. The flavors of ingredients match with the others in a excellent way. The seafood platter is a must try too. The only thing I personally do not love is the fresh oyster for the day ($39 for 6pcs), it is great but I personally prefer oysters in a bigger size. I will definitely be back again for any special event and such a great restaurant need to be recognized!
Utmost respect for David Hawksworth. Not only does he prepare great things at Bel Cafe, his brunch is exceptional the restaurant is amazing. The pastry platter was crisp and tender at the same time. The way he prepares the steel cut oats has made me only consume steel cut oats now, no more rolled oats. Definitely cannot go wrong with anything on his menu. Atmosphere very relaxing, our waiter was exceptionally well mannered and professional. I wish him the best of luck with his new endeavour at the Nightingale.
Had high expectations coming in. Ordered the dine-out menu.
Appetizer was amazing - it was creamy and fishy and lived up to the hype behind Hawksworth.
Expected the main menu to blow my mind, except to be disappointed by a rather mediocre pasta dish. My partner's squid was burnt and overseasoned while mine was fine, which raised the question of inconsistency in the kitchen.
Dessert was a failed attempt at fine dining - plating seems okay, if not for the lack of portion or taste.
Overall, my first experience at Hawksworth was not worth the money spent. On the off chance that I do come back, I would ask the server for the best menu.
The restaurant is surprisingly over-rated (in my opinion). Seems almost like a bandwagon mentality. We have visited the restaurant many times but my last visit to the restaurant could only be rated as a one star out of five. I give him three stars for his overall body of work.
Mixed experiences the times I ve come in, I find the food excellent but the front of house staff rude at times and rushing guest. When you come into a restaurant this beautiful and pay the money you do you expect an experience that I don t think the foh delivers
staff/service great. but the food was way too salty - ruined it for me... for that level of quality and skill, no salt should be needed for it to be good. I had lamb and duck - great flavours already, no need to kill it in salt.
I was impressed by the quality of dining experience offered here, it was well above my expectations for fine dining in Vancouver. We weren't able to make reservations so we took a table in the lounge, where the full menu is available, and I am very glad that it was. We started with mortadella salad and glazed pork belly, I was delighted by the balance of each of these dishes, in particular the heavy pork belly was offset by fresh bites of thai basil and crunchy scallops, giving each bite a much lighter tone while retaining the decadent savour of the pork belly. We then embarked on an journey through the more decadent winter tasting menu, a four course affair that included a yellowfin tartar, lobster gnocchi, goose, and a chocolate dessert. I was pleased by all of the dishes, but particularly delighted by the goose, which was perfectly well done with an amazing texture. This restaurant is one of the highlights of fine dining in Vancouver, I look forward to returning here in the future.
July 1st was our 1st anniversary so wanted to dine at this restaurant. We reserved a table 2 weeks ago with a special request "A table on a quiet side". When we arrived on time (6pm), a receptionist greeted us and checked all the booking details. After that she said "Happy anniversary" to us and took us to a table inside. And guess what...it was a table right next to a washroom. There were plenty of other nice and quiet tables available at that time and we were still introduced to the table right next to the washroom even we reserved a table in advance. The worst part was, our next table was occupied by 4 obnoxious patrons chatting really loud.
I was really upset, so I spoke to a manager right away if we can move to another table. So we were moved to a quiet table in the corner. But our feeling was already ruined. My wife was really upset too.
Also, while we were having our meal there, we were shocked to see that the receptionist was separating the seating. She separated all Asians/Indians to one side of the area and all Caucasians to the other side. I'm really interested to know if she was trained by Hawksworth to allocate the tables/seats depends on the skin color/racial origin.
It's really sad to see that the racial discrimination is still being practiced at Hawksworth.
Long story to short, we wasted our time and money at Hawksworth. Thanks for giving us unforgettable memories on our 1st Anniversary.
Went here for a staff dinner and was incredibly impressed. Everyone on staff was very 'on it' and incredibly knowledgeable. The decorum was also very elegant. One of the few restaurants I've been to that features a wine team, whose job is to solely to recommend and serve you wine. Their ability to take such great care of a large team of people truly surpassed my expectations. The beef carpaccio and squid were some of my favourites! I will keep the side lounge in mind as well in case I want a more relaxed area with the same quality service and food :)
Love this place. Always perfect in every way. The service, the food, wine pairing oh and did I say service. For such an upscale place it is not snooty or pretentious at all. You feel right at home. Great atmosphere. Will be back for sure!!!!
Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu, dishes came with reasonable wait. Large selection of wines but we opted for some cocktails instead. The beef tenderloin was very tasty at medium, and the lamb saddle was tender. The puree garnishes were also paired well with the meats. Some might think the sizes are a bit small with a pricey menu.
This restaurant is extremely special. I came with my boyfriend for our anniversary, when i made the reservation i told them but didnt expect much out of it. Upon our arrival, the hostess took our jackets and brought us to our table immediately, no wait even though they were busy. Shows how organized and professional they are. Our server was very polite and friendly, made us feel very welcome. When our food was brought out, we were given a glass of champagne on the house because of our anniversary. Completely unexpected and made our night. The food was incredible, made me want to lick the plate! We had beautiful mains, my boyfriend got a vegan option made up on the spot which was amazing and still absolutely delicious. I got the steak and could have lived off of that dish alone. We were then brough a dessert to share that said happy anniversary written in chocolate, again, on the house. This restaurant is one of the most well run establishments and desserves all the praise it can get. The front of house staff is amazing and basically treated us like royalty. If im ever in Vancouver again, i will definitely come.
We went to Hawksworth for our anniversary dinner yesterday. Everything from food to ambience to service was impeccable! Our server was extremely attentive and took the time to explain each dish. We ordered KFC and baby back ribs as appetisers. Both of which were delicious. We ordered 4 cocktails - deuces, lazy Suzan, four lake fizz, wa-hawk-ah! - all of which were great, though Four lake fizz seemed a little less in quantity. For mains, we had duck breast, which was cooked to divine perfection! For dessert, we had brown sugar pavlova, which felt like a party of amazing flavours in the mouth!
Oh boy, I can't tell you how happy we were after eating here. We left it late to plan our wedding anniversary and they set us up the night before. Have to say the staff were amazing and the food was top class.. And of course with the covid social distancing rules it just felt more intimate and relaxing.
Food was ok but not sure why always rated so highly. BBQ octopus was excellent and rack of lamb but other items eg Hokkaido scallop, Korean ling cod and desserts were ok. So if order the right items, it is very good but there are misses as well.
This place definitely did not live up to the expectation of being one of the top restaurants in the city. There were a couple of fantastic dishes but both mains that were ordered came out bland and poorly cooked. The chicken was dry and the risotto was almost a soup. We only spoke up about the risotto which they offered to replace but as soon as we said something the service went downhill. My partner waited for 15 minutes for anyone to come up and ask if he would like another drink while we waited for the dish to be replaced which also took a while and started to ruin the evening. We watched numerous staff walk by and no one paid attention to us anymore. For a high end restaurant we were also surprised that we weren't offered any sort of compensation for the awkward dinner we had even though we ordered plenty of drinks, apples and desserts. The best part is they emailed me a survey about our experience and even though I sent them the situation of what happened, no one cared to follow up. Very disappointing experience.
The Lunch Prix Fixe menu is great value for a high-end restaurant like Hawksworth. Three course meal for $28 is a great deal ($44 including wine pairing). Dessert was my favourite (as always) - I was scraping the bowl after the crema catalana - the citrus yuzu flavour balanced out the rich custard deliciously. For your starter & main, you have a choice of two items with a set dessert. For hungrier appetites, adding a side from the ala carte menu is a good idea. The service is personable & attentive. For those wary of the price tag but wanting to give Hawkworth a try, lunch time is a great time to go!
This is the most depressing food I have ever seen it looks for a 5 year old. Honestly this is embarrassing for you. It came extremely cold and tastes wrong in so many ways.
Great experience at Hawksworth , service was great , the food was delicious , I had the lamb perfectly cooked to my liking, , it was a very pleasant time with my wife & friends.
The food looked fantastic, but sometimes bizarre. A big conceptualisation problem in the kitchen.
The amuse bouche was just plain bad. Some beautiful sashimi-grade tuna that was completely covered up with other flavours like strawberries, ham powder (what? It just tasted like salt), raddichio, a green sauce, some white foam, and puffed rice (for texture). Also it was massive for an amuse.
The first course also had these terrible mixtures. The same beautiful tuna that was supposed to be a ceviche, except there was no acid on the fish itself. It was sitting in a puddle of something like lemon curd; sweet and thick. Also, the same puffed rice from before. The best part of the dish was the slices of raw radish, which is tragic because the ingredients are so good.
The mains were better, but still hit some roadblocks with adding weird flavours and textures (corn that came with the duck had a lot of acid added to it so it tasted like it had gone off). The meat was cooked perfectly.
Dessert was delicious. We guessed it would because of how they tried to add sweet things to all the other dishes. The only complaint is that for a restaurant like this I expected something less lazy than mousse in a cup. Both desserts were mousse in a cup, just different flavours.
What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? It's definitely the most interesting restaurant in Vancouver. Each time I come here the menu is completely changed. The tasting menu is great.
From the hostess to the Manager all of the staff is amazing. Food is excellent. Definitely try the himachi. I don't even like raw sushi (I am a California roll kind of gal) and the himachi is seriously the best.
Excellent dining experience tonight as always. We enjoyed the prix fixe menu and wine pairings. Food and wine were perfect compliments. As expected the service was exceptional, waiter, sommelier, Bartender, and service supports. Will definitely be back soon, especially with their generous Covid measures in place.
My colleagues at my previous job took me here for a celebratory farewell lunch on my second last day. I enjoyed the intimate, stylish environment and felt safe where we were seated. All four of us ordered the same thing: their 3-course More
After hearing so much about this place, decided take my niece and nephews for lunch on Dec 27. Food was good, tasty and presented well. However, given all the hype and maybe it s also the lunch menu, I didn t find the dishes spectacular though. The server was friendly and very attentive. However, I think there may be more improvement to the front of the house (1) I made reservation through a certain credit card concierge and, since Hawksworth was part of the Global Dining Program, I was assured by the concierge that he mentioned to the restaurant the additional amenities that I am entitled to. Whatever it was, it didn t happened. (2) We ordered wine by glass and one of them had lots of sediment at the bottom (it s a common occurrence though). When we told the manager about it, he just poured the remaining wine into a new glass. I had similar incident at other fine dining restaurants and they handled it differently by either offered a brand new glass of wine or take it off the bill. All in all, good experience at Hawksworth but could be better.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Vancouver for a special night out. The menu selection is top of the line and the service is also spot on. We ordered the duck breast and the lamb duo. The meat was cooked to the perfect doneness. The flavour of each dish was well balanced. The lamb was not too gamey, while the sauce really complemented the particular flavour of the lamb.
We were in a private dining room, so the experience was different than what you'd get in the restaurant, but I did enjoy my meal immensely. The dessert was especially and unexpectedly good with mascarpone and lemon custard.
Went here for a sponsored dinner and talk. The food was amazing... presentation, flavor, freshness, atmosphere, everything! Check out the videos on their website before you go. The food is grown locally, organically, picked fresh, menus planned accordingly.
Only reason I m giving this place a 4 stars is because our server in the lounge forgot our octopus and it came 20 min later, the drinks were coming extremely slow. Almost 20 min to get one cocktail. Also, after waiting for the octopus it turned out to be absolutely disgusting. The smell of it from the fish sauce is so off putting. The oysters were great and the cocktails tasted good. Eventually we ll come back to eat in the dining room but first time in the lounge was so so.
Amazing food and very high quality service. The squid was a unique take which is not often seen around BC, but was executed perfectly, and the burger was also a perfectly simple burger. The quality certainly justifies the price
Top notch service and atmosphere. Loved the veal tenderloin and lobster as main dish and the scallop as appetizer. The hamachi appetizer was lacking flavor and the fish was not very fresh. Also, the number of items on the menu is very limited, everything on one page. It's a shame they don't have a longer menu or we'd definitely be visiting again very soon.
Paid $30 for a burger on a very dry, borderline stale bun. It was not enjoyable unfortunately. My friend and I both ordered burgers as we were on the hunt for the best burger in town. We had had much higher expectations of the quality control.
Stopped in for a quick drink and appy. Staff was extremely rude while we were ordering ended up just skipping the food. And going somewhere else instead.
We came here for our 1 year anniversary, and it was possibly the best meal we've ever had. Food was excellent, service was top notch, setting was lovely. Staff were knowledgeable about where the food came from, and got answers from the chef for some of our tougher questions. Naturally, it's not a cheap place, but it was so good, other expenses in our lives are now compared to how many Hawksworth dinners we could have had :)
The tasting menu was divine and made memorable by Cooper's phenomenal ability to pair the cocktails perfectly. The first restaurant that was happy to swap out a wine pairing for creative, sophisticated cocktails. My best dining experience in Vancouver so far.
Quite possibly the best restaurant in Vancouver. Staff know you by name, they care about your special needs (like a favorite table) and the chef specials are amazing!
Walked in for a Sunday breakfast. The Full English was well prepared, and while the price point is higher than some other breakfasts around, I don't know of another nearby option for an equal Full English breakfast at a lower price. Our server was both friendly and efficient. The bar looks inviting, perhaps we'll come back one evening while visiting Vancouver.
The food here at Hawksworth is incredible and the service is amazing. Definitely recommend trying this place out! Can't wait to come back for another meal.
Two dinners, two nights in a row, and by pure chance, both at Hawksworth Restaurant. One a business dinner, the next dinner with friends. And both superb experiences with wonderful menu items, great wine selection, and perfect service. Couldn t ask for more from a restaurant. The menu is creative and constantly evolving, and the staff knowledgeable, and highly professional.
