Beautiful Camp! My Troop did our winter survival training here. The Staff was very helpful and facilitated our weekend to make it a memorable event. Everything in camp is well marked and Hiking Trails are clearly marked. The Trading post was well stocked for all needed supplies even for it being off season.

Not for the faint of heart! Excellent trail markings and signage, but a lot of the trails are more rock hopping than hiking. Go early in the day, it was pretty crowded by the afternoon. No dogs allowed.

I was a scout here 30 years ago and now I can't believe I'm a scout leader! Great memories at this place, really helped my grow as a teen. I know they have over 60 different merit badges they teach here when my dudes attended July 2017. Lots of cool activities, modern facilities and the chow hall ain't to bad for camp food either.

Our Boy Scout Troop enjoyed our annual Winter Camp at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. Although there was no staff on hand and program areas were closed an exploration of the camp revealed a delightful lake, a COPE course challenge area (including zip lines), a large dining hall and a well stocked Trading Post.
The cabin we stayed in was typical for a BSA camp, cinder block construction with bunk beds lining a central dining area. The small wood stove in the corner was a challenge for the fire building skills of the younger Scouts but was more than adequately heating the single floor, one room structure an hour or so after ignition.
The only drawback was the unfortunate placement of the smoke detector near the kitchen stove, causing the need for open windows during the morning while the boys fried three pounds of bacon for breakfast. The placement of the refrigerator next to the oven was also an inefficient, if quieter, choice than the smoke detectors.
Carrying water from the pool area to the cabin was a great team building exercise for a few of the Troop members, especially after a winter water battle brought home the Boy Scout motto, "Be prepared". Bring dry clothes to change into.

My school had a great time. The 8th graders enjoyed their two and day over night visit. The facility are descent and the ground are beautiful. I enjoy ever year when the students go to outdoor education at Hawk mountain.
