I am Rahel Moore who performed the role of Pamina at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in 2015 and the roles of the Princess and Nightingale at the 2016 HPAF. I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to all at HPAF for the role they played in getting me thus far in my career. This year, 2017, I have been offered the role of Pamina by the Berlin Opera Academy in Germany and I was also offered the role of Adina by the Centre of Opera Studies in Italy. THANK YOU HPAF!!!
High culture brought to our island... what's not to like? This festival brings in internationaly recognized instructors and talented young artists (teens and young adults - many who go on to become sought after professionals), and they put on spectacular shows. There is a wide offering of styles: opera, Broadway show tunes, chamber music... All at a variety of venues in Waimea and Hilo with the occasional Kona excursion.
Get out and support these kids...you will be impressed!
I've been associated with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival as an observer and occasional helper for their full 12 year run. They've put on some amazing concert series, fully staged operas and a string of simply wonderful special events starring the likes of Jennifer McGregor, Jake Shimabukuro, and Peabody Southwell just to name only a few.
