My son and I volunteered to help in whatever way we could on a Saturday. I walked in, signed up and they put us both on duty to take large quantities of potatoes and carrots, sort and rebag into smaller bags. There were total 19 volunteers of different ages with the youngest being 8. We bagged approximately 1300 lbs potatoes and 1600 lbs of carrots in 2 hours.
We'll organized and wonderful to be able to help just walking in off the street.

The people are super nice when giving instructions and everything is well organized and on time. They are shifting their focus to include healthier food options when distributing, which is great! We helped them pack carrots into mesh bags for 2 hours and it was one of the more fun volunteering activities I've been to!

If you are looking for a wonderful organization to volunteer for with a group, check out Harvesters. They are not only a great organization, but they will put your group to work in the most efficient process I have ever seen. If you have 30 people available for 60 minutes, they will keep every person busy and the whole time.

I appreciate they re work for the people in need, but the rudeness and the laziness they re treating the truckers they re delivering their food it s unmatched! Waited for hours just to get a dock and still waiting hours to get empty!

Harvesters is the local community food bank. They supply food to soup kitchens and food pantries over a wide area. The facility and the people are first rate. Doing service projects for and with Harvesters is a great way to give back to the community. It also is a great reminder of how blessed we are and that we should be thankful for what we have.

If you need a volunteer effort, contact harvesters. They are always needing helping hands. They also have a teaching moment after your event! You will put in some work and have a good time working with a team!

Very disappointed with Harvesters. They use child labor to run their facility claiming its volunteer work when it is actually right out of a Dickens novel. I never heard a thank you when we were finished helping. All I heard was a lecture at the beginning of what to do or not to do. I am surprised parents and schools and any church organization would allow their children to be used in this manner. Some of the children volunteering were as young as seven.

I love the mission of this charity. It is run with a kind staff and sign up opportunities are easy to do online. Some days it takes 15-45 minutes before they call volunteers back, so you may wait in the break room a bit.

Great team building in a community service setting with tons of resources for those who may seek a better education on food ethics. Our groups always had a great time getting hands on in the warehouse. It's amazing how much food is saved and redistributed among the metro because of this organization! Tons of community events- and our favorite was a cooking competition we reserved- Great for small business teams.

Harvesters has many different facets! The shopping floor is a great place for your local agency to stock up on food and goods for their pantry (you must sign up and create an agency account before you can shop!) there are also nutrition classes, a garden, the V.o.c. floor where large groups can volunteer to sort donated goods, as well as many community focused outreach and events to volunteer with! Everyone here is exceptionally kind, they are very organized as well. check out their website to find volunteer opportunities!

My team volunteered and we all left saying we wanted to do it again. We boxed drinks and created an assembly line and made a contest of sort out of it. Great organization and they make it easy to volunteer. Highly recommend!!!

The building is wonderful, but the people and their mission are even better. Truly a great benefit to KC and the region. I highly recommend events, activities, volunteering, and donations to this worthy organization.

We now partner with Harvesters as we have just opened a food pantry at New Life CityChurch in downtown Kansas City. Everyone at Harvesters have been great to work with. Harvesters is dedicated to ending hunger in KC and we are thankful to be able to help in this endeavor.

A pretty great place to volunteer. I absolutely love what they do and the causes they strive for. They are mostly organized but are not perfect- like they don't have some things needed for the workers or have a shortage of things needed to do the jobs. Overall an pretty awesome experience but I won't be coming back for a few months.

Why isn't there a harvesters in kansas there has always been a need for food and help to get it for those on disability but the pandemic has brought everyone down to the level of those who aren't allowed to have a job and it took this to get people to see how hard it is to live I hope as soon as everyone's else's life's return to being normal because our life's will stay the same they don't forget how it felt to barely get by and I hope it changes people and how much they give to others and how much they care and show kindness
