Great organization that helps a lot of people in the community.
I am a volunteer and Veteran helping St. Michael's Veterans Center Inc a non-profit. Havesters helps them a bunch. Glad to be of service to my fellow Vets.
Very organized! Great staff members. We especially loved the family night we attended with the tour and different activities.
Love going here with family to volunteer and help provide for those in need.
Best place to volunteer, the staff is great, I've been volunteering for several years now, great experience helping and the work they do helping fight hunger is awesome.
My son and I volunteered to help in whatever way we could on a Saturday. I walked in, signed up and they put us both on duty to take large quantities of potatoes and carrots, sort and rebag into smaller bags. There were total 19 volunteers of different ages with the youngest being 8. We bagged approximately 1300 lbs potatoes and 1600 lbs of carrots in 2 hours.
We'll organized and wonderful to be able to help just walking in off the street.
The people are super nice when giving instructions and everything is well organized and on time. They are shifting their focus to include healthier food options when distributing, which is great! We helped them pack carrots into mesh bags for 2 hours and it was one of the more fun volunteering activities I've been to!
Wonderful opportunity to volunteer for you and your family.
It was really fun! I would definitely like to go back another time but I really wish you could do different jobs instead of 1 the whole time. The otherwise it was a great experience! You should definitely go with some friends
Amazing People Doing Good Work For Those Less Fortunate.
Wow didn't know these guys go clear out by Manhattan, KS. Doing a great service for the communities. Would definitely volunteer here again.
The local food bank. Do some good and volunteer to help the community
I love volunteering here. The people leading groups are always upbeat and give very good directions. They are super organized and always seem ready for volunteers to just start working.
If you are looking for a wonderful organization to volunteer for with a group, check out Harvesters. They are not only a great organization, but they will put your group to work in the most efficient process I have ever seen. If you have 30 people available for 60 minutes, they will keep every person busy and the whole time.
I appreciate they re work for the people in need, but the rudeness and the laziness they re treating the truckers they re delivering their food it s unmatched! Waited for hours just to get a dock and still waiting hours to get empty!
It was very clean and well organized. Had a lot of fun helping people help others.
It is a place to benistra to impart and think about things
Great experience great help and cause for the needful
working there with my friends was awesome but when my friend went in with no gloves and picked out all the moldy carrots with his bear hands was gross
Went there for a girl scout event. The staff was fantastic and cared about helping the girls and made it a great learning experience.
This is a wonderful organization with very pleasant employee's and volunteers.
Feels good to help out. There s always something to do/accomplish. Staff is usually pretty organized.
Helping others to stamp out hunger in our communities and eliminate food waste.
Harvesters is the local community food bank. They supply food to soup kitchens and food pantries over a wide area. The facility and the people are first rate. Doing service projects for and with Harvesters is a great way to give back to the community. It also is a great reminder of how blessed we are and that we should be thankful for what we have.
I have been donoted quality wholesome healthy items from harvesters a couple of times. Thank everyone invoved with donations down to volunteers keep it up
If you need a volunteer effort, contact harvesters. They are always needing helping hands. They also have a teaching moment after your event! You will put in some work and have a good time working with a team!
I see God reaching out to the needy through this organisation.
I was a volunteer two days this week...Receptionist is and was very nice along with the other staff i met while here... volunteering here was not hard at all, very relaxing and calm work environment great for meditation...soooo if u are looking for a great place to work/give back time , this is perfect place for it. They have opportunities for all people and ages. Thank u for having me, i will see u all soon!
Volunteer @ CCRC ( Sugar Creek Food Pantry). Harvesters is such a great resource & their volunteers are super helpful.
Great place to volunteer. If you can ask for a tour of the facility.
Great organization with a well-run volunteer center
Very disappointed with Harvesters. They use child labor to run their facility claiming its volunteer work when it is actually right out of a Dickens novel. I never heard a thank you when we were finished helping. All I heard was a lecture at the beginning of what to do or not to do. I am surprised parents and schools and any church organization would allow their children to be used in this manner. Some of the children volunteering were as young as seven.
Awesome SERVICE to the community. Helping those in need. Please everyone that can, volunteer, donate and let those in need know about.
I donated 47 honey buns, giving back to the community.
Super honest and helpful organization. Love the staff here!!
I love the mission of this charity. It is run with a kind staff and sign up opportunities are easy to do online. Some days it takes 15-45 minutes before they call volunteers back, so you may wait in the break room a bit.
Always a pleasure to Volunteer here! The work they do is truely a blessing for those in need of the basic foods.
Great place. Great intentions. Had a great time helping others.
Great place to volunteer and giveback to the community!
the room was 1 degrees hotter than i like but couch and food was good
Great place to volunteer your time. We'll organized and tasks often easy enough 10+ year old kids can do.
Easily to volunteer with, and for a good cause. Had fun with the fam packing food - will come back next Christmas.
Great work environment and lots of safety precautions.
Awesome place to Volunteer with a Sincere Purpose!!!
The Harvesters mission is incredibly impactful and it's a privilege to have an operation like this in Kansas City.
It's a place to help the homeless and work your community service in high school.
Great team building in a community service setting with tons of resources for those who may seek a better education on food ethics. Our groups always had a great time getting hands on in the warehouse. It's amazing how much food is saved and redistributed among the metro because of this organization! Tons of community events- and our favorite was a cooking competition we reserved- Great for small business teams.
A great organization doing great work. Helping the community by providing food to food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.
an absolutely amazing place that does so much good in the community. plus it makes it super easy to volunteer and get involved.
They provide services throughout several counties in MO and KS. Many people have been blessed by their assistance.
Harvesters has many different facets! The shopping floor is a great place for your local agency to stock up on food and goods for their pantry (you must sign up and create an agency account before you can shop!) there are also nutrition classes, a garden, the V.o.c. floor where large groups can volunteer to sort donated goods, as well as many community focused outreach and events to volunteer with! Everyone here is exceptionally kind, they are very organized as well. check out their website to find volunteer opportunities!
My team volunteered and we all left saying we wanted to do it again. We boxed drinks and created an assembly line and made a contest of sort out of it. Great organization and they make it easy to volunteer. Highly recommend!!!
Great volunteer experience sorting and packing food. Good for groups to participate.
This place is a God sent! Everyone there is always so helpful. Our churches food pantry could not do the good for our community it does without them!
The building is wonderful, but the people and their mission are even better. Truly a great benefit to KC and the region. I highly recommend events, activities, volunteering, and donations to this worthy organization.
My first time volunteering. Had a great time. Was an inspiration.
Had a great time volunteering. I would highly recommend it. We went in a large group. All staff were helpful and friendly
Volunteered here and met wonderful people. Clean warehouse and efficient systems. I look forward to volunteering here in the future.
We now partner with Harvesters as we have just opened a food pantry at New Life CityChurch in downtown Kansas City. Everyone at Harvesters have been great to work with. Harvesters is dedicated to ending hunger in KC and we are thankful to be able to help in this endeavor.
A pretty great place to volunteer. I absolutely love what they do and the causes they strive for. They are mostly organized but are not perfect- like they don't have some things needed for the workers or have a shortage of things needed to do the jobs. Overall an pretty awesome experience but I won't be coming back for a few months.
Why isn't there a harvesters in kansas there has always been a need for food and help to get it for those on disability but the pandemic has brought everyone down to the level of those who aren't allowed to have a job and it took this to get people to see how hard it is to live I hope as soon as everyone's else's life's return to being normal because our life's will stay the same they don't forget how it felt to barely get by and I hope it changes people and how much they give to others and how much they care and show kindness
Highly organized non-profit organization helping feed thousands of Kansas City kids, adults and seniors each week! I enjoy assembling the Back Snacks for kids.
Great cause and staff makes volunteering fun. One of our kids favorite places to volunteer.
Our family volunteers here every year. It's a great place to give back to the community.
Harvesters - The Community Food Network is a non-profit organization that provides food assistance to people in need. With its headquarters located in Kansas City, Harvesters serves the Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri regions, including Topeka. The organization has been serving the community for over 40 years and has become a vital resource for those who are struggling to put food on their tables.
Harvesters' mission is to provide nutritious food and other resources to individuals and families who are experiencing hunger or food insecurity. They work with a network of over 760 community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other organizations that serve those in need.
One of the unique aspects of Harvesters is their focus on providing fresh produce and perishable items along with non-perishable goods. They understand that access to healthy foods is essential for overall health and well-being. In addition to distributing food directly through their partner agencies, Harvesters also operates several programs aimed at increasing access to fresh produce.
One such program is called "Fresh Mobile Pantry," which brings fresh fruits and vegetables directly into underserved communities where access to healthy foods may be limited. Another program called "Produce Plus" provides vouchers for low-income individuals and families to purchase fresh produce at local farmers' markets.
Harvesters also offers nutrition education classes aimed at teaching individuals how to prepare healthy meals on a budget using the ingredients they receive from the organization's distribution centers.
In addition to providing direct assistance through its programs, Harvesters also advocates for policies that address hunger issues at both the local and national levels. They work closely with lawmakers, community leaders, businesses, faith-based organizations, schools, healthcare providers as well as other stakeholders in order create sustainable solutions towards ending hunger within our communities.
