Nice ambience would be slightly cooler with the music a little louder, sushi was delicious recommend getting there early there is always a line or make a reservation double check the hostess got your number correctly. Had a fun birthday celebration here. Great customer service

Harney Sushi was a fantastic discovery by my girlfriend.
If you find yourself in Old Town and looking for something besides the go-to Mexican spots, Harney Sushi has what you're looking for.
We came for the rolls, but found so much more.
Since kindergarten, I've had a close friend that is half Japanese, and when he came over a few weeks back and asked where he could find the best Hamachi Kama in town, Harney was where I sent him without a second thought.
These grilled fish jaw carries the most flavorful and tender morsels of meat, and is a must try,
They have some great deals during happy hour as well, and wonderful service.

If you go to San Diego and don't have harney sushi while your here, you plain missed out. Go and try the rolls they are top notch.

Delicious food, only problem our reservation wasn't in the system, but once we showed the email we got a table.

Always a big hit with friends I bring here who have tried all the others.One of my favorite Sushi restaurants. I love that they are dedicated to sustainability.

Good vibe, tasty and fresh fish. Slow service but they were very busy.

We went to Harney Sushi for my daughter's birthday. The service was atrocious! We got one entree within 15 min...however...the rest of our orders SLOWLY arrived one @ a time for the next half hour! We urged our Granddaughter to go ahead and enjoy her entree...by the time she was finished...the rest of our party was just being served! I have NEVER had such bad service!
My son-in-law spoke with the Mgr. ...he offered an "adjustment" however we weren't interested in that...we just wanted to make him aware of the way less than good service! Hopefully they will correct their deplorable service! We will not be back.

This place is really good! They have a huge variety of sushi rolls and the customer service is great. They also have a good beer selection the only thing that I will mark it off for is that the bathrooms or outside and it is also a bit too dark for my personal preference.

Great sushi. Cool restaurant with great atmosphere. Didn't have to wait to be seated. I fully recommend eating here if you love sushi.

I visit this place every time I'm in town. The sushi is great and they have a good happy hour menu.

Horrible service, first in line thru the door, and seated at our table, but waited almost a half an hour before anyone even acknowledged us. Everyone else around us already started eating

Half bright / half dark lit table for 4...really? ..new server not experienced missing an app order. Very tasty roll(Bumble Bee) and Black Garlic Raman. Happy Yellowtail and regular Yellowtail sashimi, and salmon nigiri terrible! Poor cuts, very tough to eat, skin on in part. Not a place I d recommend

My top spot for delicious Sushi. service is excellent even when they are busy. looking forward to returning with my friends. it has a great interior.

Amazing place. I will never not love going here. If you can get a table do it. Its worth the wait.

This place is a little pricey, but the sushi was amazing, must try their most popular roll, the rolls royce roll. Very chill/relaxed spot. Sake was okay, kinda overpriced for the specialties, just get the house sake with the fruit flavors.

Food was excellent (tried the flaming lip and orange crush) and so was the service.

food is great but the servers have no enthusiasm. we have been over a dozen times only one of those 12 times nad have had 4 different servers and only one of those four seemed happy to be there. not one of the other 3 were pleasant. we will not be returning.

Best sushi in San Diego. Environment is classy, so really good for date nights. The service is always impeccable, with very good attention given to promptness as well as great sushi recommendations.

Great sushi here!! We had the albacore and soft shell crab. Salmon and tuna Nigiri were amazing as well.

The sushi was amazing. I am from out of town and wanted to try some fresh sushi and I definitely got what I wanted. I do wish the rolls had been rolled tighter since they almost fell apart when eating them but the taste beat any of those errors.

First time I took my elderly Dad out since Covid for him to try Harney Sushi. We scored an outdoor spot, away from everyone, but all the other spacing looked pretty squished, and some hallways and walkways were pretty tight - that made me feel uncommon.

Other than than, my Dad loved the sushi and said it was excellent food and excellent service. He plans to be back ! He states, "Excellent service and food! Will be back. Plates were fabulously orchestrated with great harmony. Compliments to the chef!"

For me, service was so-so, sushi was yummy and food a little overpriced.

A bit overpriced but I guess you pay for the atmosphere as well. If you like it hot, definitely try the Flaming Lip Roll. Order a signature cocktail to wash it down, you're gonna need it!

It's ok for fusion sushi roll. If you are looking for authentic Japanese sushi, this is not for you. We went on Sunday and there was live singing at 1pm, enjoyed the ambience.

I always love Harney Sushi! This place is amazing whether you're by yourself, on a romantic date, or with a large group of friends and want to have an amazing party! There are few places I know that do all three of those situations *this well*! Add to that that their Sushi Rolls are entertainingly named, and as amusing in the mouth as the smile from the name was while ordering! I'm leaving San Diego after 25 years next month and this is one of the places that will always have a piece of my heart!

The sushi and service at Harney Sushi is great. However, Old Town's parking takes some time and patience. Also, it's very loud in that restaurant so it's hard to hear your company, at least on a busy weekend night.

Great place to eat. Our server Kitty was very nice. The shrimp tempura was very good.

Great place for sushi in the heart of Olf Town. A bit pricey, best deal is the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl.

Very quick preparation! The staff was very friendly and fast!! The food was good also. The problem there is finding parking is very difficult!

Service was a little slow. You have to ask for wasabi. The sashimi was cut too large. They could easily just slice all The pieces in half and it would be a good size still. The rolls are good but some are to big. You can't enjoy all the tasty ingredients together if you have to take 3 bites just to eat one piece. But passed all that it tasted great. The gyoza was very delicious. They used great quality fish.

I've been to Japan and had sushi in local restaurants, and I can say that this place rivals most sushi places in Tokyo. Their fish is so fresh and expertly cut, and their other food is incredible. Everything I've had there so far has been awesome. I can't reccomend Harney Sushi enough. Quite possibly the best sushi place in California, let alone San Diego!

The sushi chief recommended the orange sushi (I believe that is what it was called). I loved it! It was sweet and but had a kick to it. The smoked salt edamame was different than I was used to but I enjoyed it!

Love me some Harney sushi! YUM! try the rastatori! you wont be disappointed!

Love this place, its pricey but overall super worth it.

For the last two visits qualify of their food gone down and is getting worse and worse. Most expensive roll ($22!!) was dry, they forgot to put any sauce on it. Fish pieces looked like they were 3 days old. Rice was stuck to the box so couldn t pick up a piece without breaking it. Very disappointed and not going back again.

Not somewhere I would go for peace and quiet, but for a good time -- HECK YES. Killer beats, rockin' rolls and the best darn sushi in old town. They mix it up with traditional and their own creations like the James Bond Roll --- just do it. Sure it can get cozy, it's a lil place, no doubt. But the food and service makes up for it. It might be a bit unusual to find a sushi place in the middle of Mexican food USA, but the line out the door will tell you why it's there. Go, eat, drink and be merry, but careful with those thai sangrias -- they'll get ya.

Within walking distance of old town San Diego, so had that going for it. Dark atmosphere and busy. Use yelp coupon for a deal. No local parking so had to walk in. Sushi was a little slower than other places, but worth the wait. Has unique and traditional rolls. Has a comfy atmosphere plus fish tanks. Reservations are probably a good idea on a busy night.

Delicious! Be prepared to wait at least half an hour for a table but it is totally worth it!

Super chill sushi spot in the middle of 30 mexican food restaurants. Definitely a diamond in the rough. The staff and bartender was great the food did not disappoint. Two thumbs up. Sorry I did not take any photos.

Great Japanese Fusion restaurant. Had king salmon nigiri, melt in mouth. Also strongly recommend ana roll.

It's a bit pricier than other places. But they are open until late which is very cool.

This was so delicious and very fresh. The service was fast and friendly. My favorite roll is either the bumblebee or bond James bond! They have something there for everyone and the ambience inside is very nice and relaxing . Would definitely recommend!

So good. Possibly my favorite place I have had eaten at in San Diego. Super fresh. Great service. Reservations the day before help, but can get a table in 30-50 mins as walkin on weekdays.

Super creative veggie rolls and great prices lunch deals! Will def go every time I visit here!
