Staff was quick and courteous and took the time to answer our questions

Originally, I had given this shelter a bad rating. However, they have worked hard to increase their save-rate. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Friendly, caring staff. Clean. Thank you for caring for our "Chik-fil-A" before we adopted her! She was healthy and remains so. She is just what we (and her big puppy sister Brownie) needed.

The lady said they were not open until 11:00 even though it was like 20 minutes from 11. So me and my dad made a stop somewhere just to pass the time. Terrible costumer service.

For having a not so great shelter the staff sure acts rude and snobby. The interview was like an interrogation and they basically just try and make you seem like your not worthy of adopting a pet.

Huge selection of cats, dogs, pups and kittens. Very clean environment and the people there are friendly. Responsible for looking for serious new pet owners. Animals are vaccinated. Flea n tick free.

Very happy with their service and information provided. As a first time puppy owner, they were very patient explaining to me how to best care for my puppy, vaccines needed and other services. Had a wonderful experience!

First Saturday of each month is a good time to get your pet's shots for very little money.

Worst shelter I've been too, they lied after we tried to help out a puppy that was injured and they wanted to kill it so we took it back trying to help the dog get better after it was walking on all 4 and that afternoon I get a call from a lady from there yelling at me telling me, I am suporting animal cruelty and I explain we are just trying to help, so she just says ok looms like you need no more help, and well a few minutes after we get animal control called in on us. This is what we get for helping a puppy get better because they didn't get it their way, pathetic.

The people who work there they were polite and understanding

Place looked rundown, front lady was somewhat nice but had a sassy attitude when I went in dont really know why.

The people is very helpful unfortunately the place is small, crouded and the parking lot is in really bad conditions.

The only place in South Texas that offers pet cremation services for a donation on the weekends. They are very respectful and will take care of your beloved dogs body so you do not have to put your friend in the dumpster.

Adopted the most adorable baby today. Everyone was great. They knew I loved babies. Angel is what she is. Keep you updated

Very drity send the person in the front was ears dropping to other individual conversation and put her two cents worth.
This was the very first time here, but if you ask me to go again I would go in that place all because of people like that.

I took 3 kittens that were left in my shed. I had just moved in to my new place. We called to see if we could take them In and they said we could. They asked for verification and made me sign some paper work. It went smooth.

Harlingen human society for me was the best place, they were always so friendly in the past and had a very caring attitude. I love the fact that they have the opportunity to vaccinate your pets, and also still promote a good cause. I recommended everyone I knew being a part of the bully family here in the 956 I would encourage them to support the human society. I want to let you all know I no longer support the human society on Saturday 11/7/2015 I took my bully to get his rabies shot, mind you I have a vet that I love but wanted to still support the human society. I was told my dog had to wait in the car as to avoid him fighting with other dogs. He barked twice and there were other dogs freely walking but mine was singled out. My dog was sitting by my side and wasn't doing anything. Mind you this was told to me once they asked what breed he was. This had never happen to me before at the human society. Needless to stay I walked out of there and went to my vets office were I knew my dog would be treated with love.

The silver haired lady in front counter is to judgemental and very rude. We were trying to adopt some kittens and she is worried about a cat by our home that does not belong to us, telling us to get it vaccinated and neutered.

Great dogs and cats of all ages in need of a home. We were looking for a companion for my younger brother so we decided to adopt a dog. Chad has been an amazing member of the family so like all dogs should he found his forever home.

Had to return a baby and they were so nice and understanding. Appreciate all the people who care for animals and humans.

Went to get my 2 dogs shots at the monthly clinic. Affordable prices and friendly people .

Not happy that after my dog was impounded for 10 days he came home infested with ticks and even after several treatments the ticks somehow found their way to the other household pets. I understand it's doggy jail but tick infestation is outright neglectful and it shouldn't happen to any dogs who are under care or supervision of trained staff.

Took my cat for to be euthanized after a dog attacked him. Good customer service.

They are helping many pets that have been abandoned by their owners

Get place that loves animals and tries to find a home for as many as they can. Just adopted my newest fur baby this past week.

Love it !! Crazy nice,very helpful!! They call to check up on the pets. We try to take more or the " more complicated cases "and they have done awesome with helping and providing needed medical info.

The wait can sometimes be very annoying and sometimes the judgemental stares get under your skin, but if you ignore that, and get in and out, you'll be fine.

Love the work and help they provide for our community! The website says you can pre-register for the first saturday of the month clinics on Thursday and Friday. If you work you can go at a certain time. I took advantage of this and took my 30 minute lunch break to do it. It took much longer than I thought it would because they don't ask if you're coming in during your work hours. The website is specific about hours, just wish they'd adhere to it.

I got my cat artemis there, and honestly it was a good experience. No rude people, and i would like to volunteer at this place and see if i can help it with the public opinions. I will look into this place more soon to get my own insight on the place, i know some people can be over dramatic with the reviews.

Human Society, Harlingen, Texas: Miserable service. No help. Found newborn kitten (approx 3 wks old or less) gasping for air, dirty, mommy not around to care for the kitten. (no owner) I was turned away. The baby kitten is possibly dying. Staffer only provided tips on how to care for him. I m not an expert. Prayers for this kitten.

I agree this is the WORST place EVER! I wish I could give it 0 stars! Our dog was stolen from our backyard a year and a half ago and I have been searching shelters ever since we finally found here and I called but no one ever answers and there s no place to leave a msg. I did email and even filled out adoption paperwork and no one ever bothered to email back. I don t have a car so I had to wait until sat morning to get a ride over there. The website says they open at 10 so we got there at 945 there was a sign on the door that says to call no one is allowed inside & a # to call... we did & of course NO ONE ANSWERED! But their msg said they don t open till 11 we waited until 1020 still no answer so we went to get my grandma s medicine when we got back it was a few minutes till 11 still no answer but people were by the front door... I tried to respect their rules and called about three more times my daughter was in tears so anxious to get shadow back so I took her chip paperwork back and got down the next time someone came out the door and explained why I was there and she said oh she s been adopted, she was here for three days so we get to adopt her out... I explained I had called and left msgs she said I should have come by I explained I didn t have a car... and was in tears by this point she said oh well as of today she could be adopted I asked when did she get adopted she said as soon as we opened i asked what time did you open she said 11 I looked at my watch and showed her it was 1102 she said well there was a lady right there and pointed at a parking space from 930 till 11 so she deserved her. Amazingly that was the parking space WE had been in at 1020 so this woman is a liar as well! I didn t continue to talk to this woman because if you ll lie about something so small what else won t you lie about!!!! I just walked away crying. As she called after me ma am that s why you should have come in sooner! What a HORRIBLE person!!!! If I had known they were gonna give shadow away before they opened I would ve walked the 20miles out there the day I saw her there. I called home again ( the chip service) and they said her chip had not been run or they would ve called me. And I m pretty sure adopting a dog out before they opened for the day was not legal!!! And who are they to say who deserves my dog!!!! My daughter has been crying ever since and is inconsolable, I will never donate to this place again! My daughter wanted to volunteer with them when she was old enough ... I don t think so... these are not the kind of people I want influencing the adult my daughter becomes! They are horrible liars with no compassion!!! They don t deserve ANY stars!!!

The staff is friendly and very helpful in answering any concerns. Please do follow the rules posted or given. Do not bring in your pets on surgery day to fill out the paperwork. Keep your pets in your car after your are done with the inside paperwork. I recommend purchasing the Elizabeth collar/cone.

I vant believe you guys are really selling (i say sell not adopt) UNALTERED ANIMALS

We attempted to adopt a animal recently. When we called to ask about the process we were greeted by a rude female. We weren't even given a chance to see the animal and observe it's temperament and was told the only thing we can go off of was a single FB picture. She was very cold and didn't seem interested in putting any effort in giving an animal a chance at adoption. We had great success at the Olmito shelter, staff is very friendly and seem like they genuinely care, I would recommend going there.

Very friendly & clean. Every animal I've transported from there is well taken care of.

Downside is that the cat room is the lobby & I'm extremely allergic.

worst place i been too in my life staff are soo full of them selfs . tried adopting a dog . after i sold my soul for the application snd answered so many unnessary nosey question the lady infront took it upon herself to be rude snd racist towards me by how i look .. its not fair and not legal
