My experience at Harbourview Inn was excellent from start to finish. They have a premium location in downtown Charleston with amazing views of Charleston Harbour that can't be topped in the city.
The staff and service was fantastic as well. The doormen greeted us, offered to help with our bags and showed us to the front desk. Everyone at the front desk was very accommodating and courteous as well.
The rooms and very nice and comfortable. There are really good extras that are included as well...wine and cheese, a great breakfast (which you can eat on the rooftop) and cookies and milk at night.
Overall, everything was great and I would highly recommend Harbourview Inn if you're looking for an authentic Charleston experience right in the heart of the city.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay across from the waterfront park. Easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Free wine and cheese daily at happy hour, and free cookies before you go to bed. Complimentary breakfast served in your room. Fabulous rooms, outstanding staff. I have been here several times and look forward to staying again.
This will be our go-to place to stay in Charleston from here on out. Hands down the best customer service, high quality everything and convenient to The Holy City's best amenities.
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AT THE VENDUE.
Let me preface by saying this was the worst "high-class" hotel I have EVER been to. Upon arrival, we waited for 15 minutes for valley to meet us, they never did. We had to take our own bags, take them up the stairs (because their lobby is terribly located on the second floor). For $50 a night, this is unacceptable.
We paid $500 a night for our room because we checked multiple times that there would be a soaking tub. We got there and our room was TINY, with not even an economical bath tub. This is obviously upsetting due to the fact that's the only reason we paid what we did. The team was horrific in their response and basically said "oh well."
We called the team beforehand also confirmed that there would be a gym. I went down to the lobby (because there is NO information in the room) only to be told they don't actually have a gym, they have a "partner" that is 12 miles away (and with traffic would be 45 minutes each way).
The rooms look very poor quality (like a Holiday Inn). There was a BIG gaping whole onto the balcony, so our room was incredibly drafty.
The service was extremely sub par and they were clearly not appreciative to have our business. We even emailed the manager due to our extremely poor experience. His response was to do NOTHING for us and to say "thank you for helping us help future customers."
My wife and I stayed a week in 2015 the week after Thanksgiving and booked through our travel agent. It was great weather and we had a harbor view suite. Great bathroom and room, bed was great balcony overlooking the harbor was awesome. Loved the daily breakfast and the wine and cheese reception. We are planning our next trip and plan to stay at the same place.
We had a plumbing issue at another hotel and was transfered over to the Harbour view and it was an amazing night. Valet parking people were so friendly when we were unsure of how it worked. Samantha at the front desk was so sweet and helpful checking us in. Beautiful quiet building in an amazing location.
The location is amazing. Right in the middle of everything and on the harbor. A hop away from the adorable little park. Our room was big, comfortable, clean and pleasant. Service was efficient and helpful. Breakfast delivered to your room, amazing options for packages and rooms, drinks and snacks available all day in the atrium and lobby. Both fancy and quaint.
A beautiful Inn!!!! We spent our wedding night here and it was perfect! They allowed a friend access to the room so they could set everything up and decorate. They greeted us with such enthusiasm as we walked in late that night. The front desk is not your typical front desk, you check in and out with the friendliest of people, customer service at its finest! The next day we had a very late checkout to ensure we didn t feel rushed. Clean and cozy rooms, the bed was amazing and so comfortable. The roof top is beautiful and offers great views of the city. This will be our number one choice to stay when we visit the city on special occasions! Thank you for being a part of our night and making it perfect for us! -The Cates!
Hotel was awesome! First off COVID protocols were very thorough. The building was very clean and continually maintained. The room was quiet and relaxing and the beds were comfortable. The hotel offered many included value-added services such as breakfast delivered to the room and even milk and cookies at night. All food was plated and tightly sealed with plastic. Location was very good and walking distance to everything we wanted to see.
If you are looking for a small hotel in downtown, near the water, this is your place. It is a beautiful hotel with a great view! It is also conveniently located to a lot of great food spots and the great history of the beautiful Charleston!
Amazing service - best location with views of harbor. Unbeatable breakfast in bed, with unlimited options of breakfast foods. Great value. Free bikes. Will be going back again!
Very cozy inn overlooking the Charleston Harbor and local fountain. Near the Charleston market and sooo many restaurants, ice cream shops, stores, and cafes. Amazing place, I highly recommend. They have a cozy terrace too!
Very clean and accommodating especially with covid. I enjoyed the wine and snacks they d give. The showers are amazing and so are the robes they come with. I didn t really mind the contruction because it s so close to the harbor and the water taxi which was GREAT for travel. We never used the car the whole time we were there. Nice touch with the water bottles in the fridge too, IT WAS HOT. Only feedback would be maybe more savory selections for breakfast. It was a lot of pastries but I would ve preferred something basic like bacon and eggs or an omlette. Also no microwave was kind of a bummer especially since the restaurants close down so early. We ended up just taking the leftovers from each night back home or eating some of it cold. Also the guy at the desk was very helpful about the restaurants nearby and the valets were nice about parking. It was heaven in the midst of everything that s going on. Always felt safe and socially distance but still homey and romantic.
Great place to stay. Service was great and the room and hotel was very clean. Location is perfect. My family and I will stay here again next time we are in Charleston, SC.
We stayed 2 nights here. It was not in our plan but we changed our direction after leaving Tybee Island early. In the time of COVID this place out does itself. They have a plan posted and they stick by it. Everyone wore their mask and they wore them appropriately. The rooms were amazingly cleaned. Hand sanitizer was everywhere and things were constantly being wiped down! The location was top notch and beautiful views. We will be going back and staying with them again. They also noticed we were buying water and brought us their free bottled water to our room. They went above and beyond! Also impressive instead of just not having their free continental breakfast they offered it free to the room... my kids were in heaven eating breakfast in bed!
My husband and I stayed in the "top of the line" Grand Harbourview Room on the 4th floor the two nights after our wedding and were not impressed. There were ants in the bathroom, ants crawling up the side of the elevator, and the service was sub par for what we were paying (quadruple digits for only 2 nights).
There was a LARGE portrait in the room of a ghost in a window, which was in poor taste. We wanted a nice, romantic room with a scenic view, not a frightening reminder that much of downtown Charleston is haunted. Maybe if that were a theme of the hotel I could understand.
We went downstairs one afternoon to request honey for the hot tea they offer, and they said "there might be some in the kitchen" and then left and never came back out.
We were excited to use the giant whirlpool tub in the room (one of the MAJOR reasons we booked it!) but the tub leaked so badly we couldn't get the water high enough over the jets to use it. That was the BIGGEST disappointment.
The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because their valet service was excellent and the view of the Charleston harbor was nice. I thought for what we paid and the fact that we chose to spend the first few nights of our honeymoon there, this was unacceptable.
Definitely worth the price, if only for the location. I can see the pier, harbor, park, fountain, Fort Sumter, Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge, and USS Yorktown all from my window. The place was clean, and the room was comfortable. The staff were friendly. They have complementary wine and a cheese plate in the afternoon and complementary cookies and milk in the evening. Their breakfast was amazing. Valet parking was very convenient. Most restaurants in the French Quarter were within comfortable walking distance, even for my small children. The interior of the hotel was beautiful. Will definitely be staying here again. Only negative is that another hotel or building is under construction right next to the water and will be obstructing part of the beautiful view. However, with the location close to everything, the hospitality, etc, it would still be worth it with an obstructed view.
Outstanding service, great amenities, but the view is not as advertised. At arrival we were greeted by a porter named Donald (Don) who was friendly, enthusiastic, and incredibly helpful! He is the reason that I m giving 5 stars. The breakfast delivered to our room was delightful, and the evening reception with wine and cheese was a great way to start the evening. I was unfortunately quite disappointed by the obstruction to our harbor view. We had the Landmark Suite with two balconies. The room was great. We enjoyed the fireplace, and the shower was absolutely fantastic. However, our view was obstructed by a giant crane and the construction across the street. The noise from the site woke me up on our last morning. We loved our stay, but I wish the hotel was transparent and truthful that the view would be altered greatly by the active construction across the street. We paid quite a bit more to get the Landmark Suite and probably wouldn t have if we d known about the dramatic obstruction. Again, I still recommend staying here because the people, amenities, and location are great.
The room was gorgeous, well maintained and more spacious than I had expected. There were the typical glamorous touches of a high end hotel (chocolates, turn down service, and robes) but really what made our stay superb was the staff. We had an emergency that required us to stay an additional night and Catherine, the day receptionist, went above and beyond to lessen the strains of our situation. I truly cannot express what a difference her generosity and kindness made. I know I'll be returning and I urge you to as well!
The location is great, very close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. I loved that it was right near the water taxi stand. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Service has been great so far.
Upscale inn in downtown Charleston. Has all the historic charm with clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast service is great and the rooftop terrace is wonderful and well kept
This hotel is great! Every one of the staff is extremely friendly and makes sure you have an amazing time. They offer complimentary breakfast served to your room every morning, milk and fresh baked cookies every night before bed, and a wine and cheese tasting every evening! The room is beautiful and the bed is a Tempurpedic mattress, so we actually were able to sleep unlike at most other hotels.
We stayed at Harbor View the last weekend in August. If there were SIX stars, I would have given them that rating. A small hotel that gives the intimate feeling rather than being part of a large crowd. Breakfeasts were individually prepared, and the happy hour was very enjoyable, , not only because of the wine and cheese, but we enjoyed speaking to other guests. The staff was exceptional, and the valet service was excellent. This hotel was not inexpensive, but it's worth whatever they charge.
Great location, clean room, complementary breakfast delivered to you room, valet parking, friendly staff. My only complaint was the bed, not comfortable at all. It definitely needs to be replaced. Room #301
Wonderful hospitality. Nightly wine and cheese always a treat. Staff very attentive and excellent service. Lots of personal attention to details and comfort.
The inn is incredible. Next to its free breakfast, which is delicious, the location is perfect. Right across from the pier and down the block from all the shopping you could want, the inn is in the prime location for any tourist. I live an hour away from charleston and this place is my favorite hotel by far.
The Harbor View Inn enveloped us in a feeling of best friends coming for a visit. The phrase "customer service" is entirely too cold for the warmth and level of care provided by the staff. The Inn's location provides the perfect spot for a walk in Waterfront Park, easily accessibility to historical area restaurants, the Market, and tours. You know that you have the perfect place when you and your spouse refer to your vacation lodging as "Home." Wish my husband could have extended his work time vacation!
My wife and I were in town celebrating out wedding anniversary. Check in was great, valet parking was a great add also. Upon checking in we were asked if we were in town for any special occasion, as we were. Surprisingly we were sent a card and a bottle of wine wishing us a happy anniversary. That was a great touch. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Very nice room. Only issue we had was when my wife misplaced the room key after we went walking one morning. Upon going to the front desk for another key, we were asked to provide ID which was in room(we were out early for a morning walk) so it was in room. After we gave our names and room number and given key, we were instructed to wait to be escorted to our room. I was a little perturbed by this. I understand the integrity of the hotel. So after the gentleman that told us about being escorted spoke to one of the staff members that recognized us, we were free to go to our room without an escort. I gave three stars for overall staff. Had a pleasant time in Charleston overall.
The Harbourview Inn is a wonderful hotel, that is small and personal, but yet upscale. We stayed for on our honeymoon and our room was perfect! We could open the balcony door and it overlooked the pier and you could hear the water, for a very romantic atmosphere. Marcus at the front desk couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. He booked us reservations for supper on our first night and called us a pedicab to get us to our restaurant. Breakfast was included with our room, and was delivered perfectly every morning, and it was delicious. My wife and I, both look forward to staying with them again!
What a great location! Sad the city sold the park adjacent to a developer but think most of the view will survive. Very clean with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast to the room is a thoughtful feature and includes a gluten free alternative. Loved the cookies at night. The only thing stopping the 5th star is the memory foam mattresses - not a personal preference.
We arrived late and getting into the hotel was a little difficult as it is locked up at night, but a call to the desk got us in. The rooms were excellent and the service impecable. We had a delicious breakfast in bed espite arriving close to 1 am. The hotel is on the water and close to everything. They held our bags the next day and we're as polite and professional as could be. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay in historic Charleston.
Great place & location. Room had a balcony with views of water & ships coming into port. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants & shops. Drue at front desk was very accommodating. We will be back!
Our family (my husband, our two children - 11 & 14, and me) had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful and great location. The amenities were wonderful (wine and cheese hour, complementary breakfast delivered, bikes, snacks and flavored water available all the time, and coffee and tea available whenever). The room was perfect for us - very comfortable beds, a small table, nice view, and large bathroom with a nice shower.
I have stayed here twice and was super impressed both times. Extremely comfortable and clean. Loved the amenities, and personalized service. Can t beat the location
Very friendly staff. Very accommodating. Nice charm to the hotel. Very close to many attractions. My 3 year old loved the milk and cookies served at 9pm every night.
It was extremely disappointing to show up and find a huge crane and construction site right outside of our "park view" window. This was our entire reason for staying at the hotel and choosing the room we did. It would have been much more honest and up front if the website had a notice or something before booking. I know the construction was outside the hotels control but if I had known we could have made other choices. Hotel staff offered another room (with same view) but no apologies or other options. We considered leaving early because we were so disappointed.
Beautiful hotel- a fantastic experience! Our front desk agent, kelly, was TERRIFIC! Solid recommendations that really made our experience in Charleston worth remembering. My husband and I had a great time visiting Charleston, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable experience. Kudos to kelly and the other staff- love from Pennsylvania!
The best experience we have ever had at a hotel. Room was spotless. Has a working gas log fireplace. The balcony overlooks the harbor and waterfront park. The employees are very nice and eager to help.
My husband and I enjoyed staying here. The customer service was wonderful! The valet service was quick, the front desk employees greeted us with a cocktail while we were checking in our room. They had a candy machine and you could come get candy anytime and as much as you wanted. They also had nightly cookies and milk in tbe lobby. They had a nice rooftop where you could have a drink and enjoy the summer night. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. You could also have breakfast brought to you free of charge. Plus the hotel is located in a good spot where you can walk and take all the shops and the market. We will be visiting again.
I meant to write this review back in July when I stayed but something just happened today that reminded me of writing this review. Everything about our stay at harbor view in was great, but the luggage boy Jackson was beyond amazing. Talk about southern hospitality, he was so kind and helpful with telling us things to do and directions and calling restaurants for us. He did so much more than just take our bags to our room. I was talking to him about how I d love to go to college down south and he talked about how he goes to University of South Carolina. I explained it can be hard to find schools with film programs which is what I want to do but he told me the program is great. Today, all the way in March, I got accepted to USC. Not only did Jackson provide great service, he convinced me to apply to a school which will change my life. Thank you Jackson!!!! He deserves a raise.
I called to get room 401 for my honeymoon. The guy on the phone said he could not guarantee that room even if I book 90 days in advance. That's crazy. They have 4 rooms with a harbor view and he said you will get 1 of the 4 but no guarantees. The guy on the phone seemed annoyed by my call. My future bride is sooo disappointed . I guess over $3,000 in revenue is just peanuts to them. Guess we will keep looking at hotels for our special week.
one of the people I was traveling with said that the reason why they like the hotel so much was that everything that she needed had already been planned and thought out by harbourview hotel. From coffee, to rooftop bars, to Friendly concierge services, and the like, it was all excellent. Great location, and great comfort.
This was by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in many 5 star hotels. The best thing about it were all the little extras such as happy hour, rooftop bar with music, afternoon tea, breakfast delivered to your room, cookies and milk at night and chocolates on your pillow. There were no hidden fees! Imagine, free water! Complementary bikes included and free wifi. Awesome location, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds and so much more. The service was awesome!
It's was our 20th anniversary trip. They staff, room, the extras.... everything was wonderful. We were there the end of May and it rained a few days, but it was beautiful. There is so much to do, we didn't have time the four days we stayed.
What a beautiful, peaceful hotel in the perfect location. Walking distance to everything. The amenities are wonderful (a delicious complimentary breakfast, complimentary wine and cheese hour, and complimentary fresh warm straight from the oven cookies and milk). The staff is awesome and extremely helpful. We just came back from a VERY long day of exploring and museum hopping to find chocolates and turn down sheets, curtains closed, lights dimmed, and beautiful classical music playing. Such a beautiful way to end our day! How thoughtful! We are so enjoying our stay here at Harborview Inn!
Harbourview Inn is located within walking distance of all things you've come to see in Charleston. Situated directly across from waterfront park. The amenities are all new, clean and modern. The old section has kept its historic charm as well. Amar, Betsy, Demetrial & Limit all work together to shine as a warm welcoming team. Amar makes great cookies, try them! There is a warm guest reception every afternoon. They serve wine, meats, cheeses and other finger foods. You could make dinner right there. And then later at night they serve free cookies and milk. You get what you pay for. We got our money's worth. We definitely recommend staying here. I would suggest they get rid of the clocks and house phones (everyone has cell phones, right?) Invest in lamps with more electric outlets or USB ports to them at bedside. I had to unplug things in order to support my CPAP machine and phone.
A wonderful place to stay in Charleston! Very friendly and helpful staff . Very clean .Within walking distance to restaurants , the water , historical tours , everything.
This is the view we got after spending $300+ on a grand harbor view room! The waterfront park side is under construction, it gets super noisy after 7:00 in the morning. Nothing about this are mentioned on their website or anywhere online, they still sell these rooms with one of the highest prices. The hotel is old, services okay, breakfast is decent, but We feel cheated on paying such a price to see this mess through our balcony! Save your money and DO NOT choose this hotel at this time!
To put in one phrase. They outdo Disney. My wife and I like to travel and are big Disney fans. Have stayed at all the top Disney World and Disneyland hotel from the Grand Floridian and Grand Californian on down. Our stay here was on that top most quality level. From the building design and high quality room decor, to a very attentive staff and extras that come with the price of the room (in room breakfast options served on china plates, metal flatware, and linen napkins. Disney would charge $30+ extra for this service.). We were impressed. Extra kudos to the valet team. They went above and beyond making travel with a mobility scooter very easy. Thank you gentlemen. Very much a team approach at this property. If you're a type "A" personality skip the bay view rooms for now. Construction across the street with noise at times. Not the hotels fault. It is what it is. Should not be considered a deal breaker when looking at the bigger picture. Just ask for a room on the other side of the building if that would bother you. Will we stay here again on another visit to this beautiful city? You bet we will!
Very nice hotel in the perfect location. Stunning views of the Charleston Harbor. Walk to top rated restaurants, shopping, Charleston City Market, carriage rides, and even can walk to board a cruise ship. High end accommodations centrally located for the full worldly experience that is Charleston.
