First time at an inpatient program. Very pleasantly surprised (absolutely NOTHING like the movies! ) There were a few people here that seemed to be 'short' often times, but I'm not going to punish (with a poor review) the rest of the staff- who were great! Like anywhere, it's easier to connect with certain people... But when you decide you are comfortable with a counselor, they are always happy to listen and talk to you about anything. The psychiatrist I met with was very laid back and easy to talk to.
I'd rather not have had to be at a facility for my mental health, but I consider myself lucky to have been admitted to Hampstead.

Do not go here for alcohol detox. I reached out to Hampstead Hospital, because I had no choice but to reach out somewhere. I informed them that I had tried to stop drinking, and explained that it did not work out because withdrawals were too much. The woman on the phone said DONT EVER try that again! And told me You should keep drinking, until we get you in.

I received a phone call later that day from them. They told me to go to the emergency room and get medically cleared, because I have been having issues with my heart. They said, the ER will know what to do. I did just that. I paid an unnecessary visit to the ER. They didn t know what Hampstead Hospital wanted in terms of clearance , so the ER called Hampstead Hospital. Hampstead Hospital s rep told them to discharge me and bring my papers with me when I checked in.

I did just that. I called Hampstead this morning, and the woman who answered the phone told me they were still waiting on medical clearance. So after being told I was put on a waitlist(which she informed me I wasn't), told to go to the ER, did that, spent more money than I had, continued to drink because I was directed by them to do so by them, I called the ER and had my paperwork sent over.

Anyway, Hampsteade called me a moment ago to tell me they wouldn t admit me. They told me to keep drinking. They told me to go to the ER. I spent more money than I have, and did what they directed me to do. This place not only does not have it together, but they are a malpractice facility and nearly posing as a treatment facility. DO NOT go here for treatment, and do not send your loved ones here.

How does a treatment facility tell an addict to continue abusing alcohol, yet refuse to admit them? It s repulsive. I do have a background in education on the medical field. Everything they did, What not to do as a healthcare provider 101.

Writing this under a different name for privacy reasons but I had a great experience at Hampstead. I was lucky to have a group of patients around me that were very supportive and wonderful people. The staff was very easy to connect with and were very helpful. I had a counselor make a weird comment to me that made me uncomfortable but after reporting it they took it very seriously and removed him from the unit for the rest of my stay (was only a few more days). My doctor was a bit frustrating but I ve found that doctors don t really listen especially when you re a young feminine presenting person so unfortunately it was to be expected. Had some life changing conversations with counselors and patients alike and I ve learned so many ways to cope that I carry with me to this day. Obviously it didn t cure me but I ve grown immensely from that experience. I think Hampstead is a great resource and I recommend it.

Horribly traumatizing and not in the least bit helpful. A male staff member was very creepy towards young female patients and the staff dismissed and victim-blamed. He also screamed at me a lot and it was horribly triggering.

My husband got his first COVID shot here today and it could not have been a better experience. Everyone we dealt with was super friendly, efficient and professional. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and that was with the 15-minute post-vaccine waiting time. Great job, all, and thank you!

I could not recommend this place. I m not 1 to speak up typically but i had a poor experience here. I was treated in a rude manner but a few members of the staff here. Everyone else treated me w/respect and kindness. The food at the cafe was wonderful and my Dr. was so helpful !!

I would not disagree with the people who gave this place a one star review, the medical staff are fine, but the unit staff especially the staff on the lincoln unit are horrible. They don t want to help you. They don t even let you exchange contact info with friends that you made there, and that is just corrupted. There was this one time where I had met a friend, she was very nice, the day she left, I was very sad, and had some panic attacks, I told one of the staff that I had missed this friend, and she responded with, there is no bringing this friend back. So yes, people who gave this place a one star review are correct. Don t waste time and be hospitalized in this miserable facility.

The staff could ve done better on Lincoln Unit

The staff could ve done better on Lincoln Unit
I was admitted in March because I tried to take my life and after waiting over a week to get in I was very anxious since it had been my first time in a psychiatric facility and I was transferred at MIDNIGHT like why so late. The 2nd day being in there I asked to have a snack that wasn t at snack time cause I didn t eat breakfast and my stomach was hurting cuz I didn t eat and a staff member screamed at me saying SNACK TIME IS AT THIS TIME AND THIS TIME and I get panic attacks when adults yell at me, and I so I was balling my eyes out for 2 hours because I was terrified of getting screamed at again and I was shaking. Later on my stay I started to feel unsafe and didn t feel safe in my room so I sat in the day room crying because I wanted to die and hurt myself and a nurse told me to go to my room but I explained that I didn t feel safe being in my room and he told me to use coping skills but I said I didn t have any and so he huffed and told me to go to my room anyways so that gave me the impression that he didn t care which gave me another panic attack because I tried to die because I thought no one cared about me and it hurt me a lot and when they told me I had to leave I told my doctor I didn t feel safe going home and he told me I m getting discharged in 2 days and when I went home that day I hurt myself because I wasn t feeling safe in the first place and so that was on them.
