Worst E.R. experience in 10 years of frequent hospital visits for our daughter. The E.R. staff were extremely rude and showed no compassion to anyone who was there. I never said anything because I couldn t believe what I witnessed. It was psychological so intimidating. I will write the hospital. That said our daughter was transferred to the day surgery waiting for a bed and the staff there were incredible. Nothing was too much for them. Especially Venus and Dani. They were a God send! After many tears our prayers were answered by a team of caring professionals.

After a 5+ hr visit spent there, along with $45 in travel from work to get there, they proved to be absolutely useless. I've had better treatment and results seeing my family physician. All they suggested was voltaren and advil to deal with the intense pain...as if I haven't tried that before guys. Sickening to see how useless it is to go to the hospital, barely being able to walk and receiving this slap in the face. Will most certainly filing a complaint about this visit.

A dear friend of mine was admitted to this place few weeks ago..F 3 medicine..I travelled from Ireland to be with her..appalled at the state of the wards in this area..filthy and uncared for surroundings! Hell hole is putting it mildly..most of the staff were rude with no compassion! My friend was dying and we fought for a week to get her moved into a private ward were she could pass in privacy..it never happened!..The so called Mark..'manager' was completly useless! I told him and so did my distraught brother she was not getting any dignity at all..no one cared..most of the patients in that ward werent being cared for properly either..left asking for help and on two different occassions one had a seizure and one soiled herself as no one came on time ! If I was to tell of all the horrors I witnessed it would take forever..my dear friend suffered a stroke in the small hours of Friday morning..one of her sons who is blind discovered this as he noticed his mothers hand hadnt moved for over two hrs ! All my family are disgusted with this..even as she was gasping her last breath we were all trying to get privacy ! This will be our memories of our special and beautiful lady..Total hell hole..filthy..rude thoughtless staff ..its not fit for a dog never mind humans..not one patient we spoke to had one single good word to say about this dump ! My name is Diana Kane...

I've already sent an email to the customer service in this hospital.. But, I came in not too long ago, and all of the nurses belittled me and were saying things towards me till the point I started crying and left, for what? I wasn't wasting any of their time, I was on time and had a good reason to be there so not sure why they kept making nasty comments and remarks towards me.

WORST HOSPITAL IVE EVER BEEN IN!!!!! WORSE SERVICE EVER the wait time is miserable and the nurses dont know enough to help you with anything. The nurses talk behind patients back ( my friend heard them talking bad about the poor old patients in my room) if ya don't wanna deal with people then quite your job it's a hospital for God sakes. When i first got here THEY GAVE ME A MEAT MEAL WHEN I WAS ON THE FORTH FLOOR AND WHEN I TRIED ASKING IF IT WAS MEAT I SAW IN MY DISH THE LADY WHO I HEARD WAS SO NICE (SHES REALLY NOT) SAID SOMETHING LIKE IDK. LOL UMMMMM OKAY FIX IT so she comes over looks at it says yup takes it and throws it on the chair beside my bed and then leaves then i ask for her again (i used that useless clicker for help lol I'd already of been dead if i was having a heart attack or something) and i believe this is one of the worst wards here for wait time i swear! She finally comes at the door cuz she never actually walks in unless she HAS TO and I say can i get some food and she offered a soggy egg sandwich with no butter no nothing and i have stomach issues so i say i can't eat that i need a meal not a snack and she says well okay well you don't eat meat and we don't carry vegetarian options (liar) WHAT HOSPITAL WOULDNT!!! even Belleville has vegan stuff lol. Then i am starving from 7 to 3am in the morning crying in agony and they can't offer me anything other then the bandaid fix of gravel that they just keep getting me to take i need Food not gravel once the gavel wears off in like an hour like always for me I FEEL TEN TIMES WORSE THEN BEFORE because im still hungry I have been having appetite problems and my body feels like it's eating itself but its not an emergency thing to them but all they can offer after 630 is a pudding!!! That would just make it worse!! It's too small and makes me even more hungry. And they don't have any cough medicine like WTF?? THEY CAN ONLY OVER TYLENOL FOR IT LIKE HOWS THAT GONNA HELP. my back has a sting in the middle of the night and some random nurse gives me an Advil which i found out from the doctor is very bad for my stomach right now MY BLOOD PLATES ARE AT 15 INSTEAD OF 1500 YET they let me sit here for two and a half days with mad anxiety becuase the doctor for that isn't in on weekends and cuz it's coming form a weekend they probably wont be here till Tuesday why? He get too drunk the night before work? I had to take my sheets off this morning grab my own blankets extra pillow from they're laundry area room because no one would answer my clicker for help And when someone finally did come i already had everything except for a sheet because all theirs were dirty and then the lady tried telling me she did make my bed this morning she was quite pretty fast when i was like i had to grab everything and take off the dirty sheets and also I've had to put all my blankets and stuff in the dirty basket myself even though im not suppose to get out of the bed but even if i put the dirty blankets and sheets on the floor beside my curtain they still won't do it .I've been dranched in sweat since i got here even having a shower doesnt help. The nurses here literally run away basically when they don't know how to help you they are so rude and i could go on and on about why you should definetly not trust your family in any of they're care!!!

This orthopedic team at Juravinski changed my life. After struggling for over a year to find a surgeon to perform double hip replacements at 32 years of age, the whole team welcomed me with open arms. I cannot thank them enough. From the reception staff to the anesthesiologists to the surgeons themselves. I have to shout out Dr.Dale Williams for taking me on and Dr.Bisland and Dr.Rhee for performing the surgeries. Best team and hospital. I highly recommend them.

Wouldn t even give one star. Check in nurse is beyond ignorant, you re not better than anyone! Wait times are touch and go. Nurses are snotty and ignorant. Once inside it s like walking into a soap opera, some things shouldn t be aired for all to hear. Talking poorly of other patients for everyone to hear is beyond unprofessional. After a 3 hour wait inside we finally get an X-ray to be told, well we don t know but it s not broken. It s one thing to misdiagnose me, an adult, but to misdiagnose a child and send us on our way with a bill for $101 for crutches and a soft cast with no explanation other than, it s not broken but follow up with a surgeon. 5 days later I take him into a much better hospital, in and out in 2 hours, and that said cast made things much worse. Maybe it s time to stop talking the students with the worst grades and attitude and make the hospital care about the patients well being, not just their pay check

I was in the ER at Jurivinski for 7 hours. At no time was there any disinfecting of the beds, chairs, switches or commonly touched areas. NOT ONCE. The beds have plastic mattresses with the thin tissue paper, the only thing that was done on the beds between patients was new paper on the beds. That is it!!! EVen before covid 19 they used to wipe down EVERYTHING after each person left a bed. I am shocked and bewildered. Can someone tell me why, not once was ANYTHING disinfected between patients. I have two hours of video, showing the patients coming and going and how the beds were not cleaned. I will be showing it to the news if they decide to reach out to me regarding this matter.

I did not have a good experience. Staff were very rude. I was told to call a number in order to check up on a patient. That is because due to COVID 19 , they do not allow any visitors. I thought I left my friend in good hands after they provided me a number to reach out and find out what s going on. Instead, they were not co-operative at all and I overheard the staff over the phone getting annoyed of me calling in again to check on the patient.

I did all of my cancer treatment at Juravinski. Not only is my doctor the best doctor that I have ever had (Dr. Kouroukis), but the nurses in the Cancer ward I was in, were really amazing. They treat you like family, help you with anything you need and when you are going through these situations, it is everything you could ask for. The woman who did my spinal taps were amazing as well. Thank you to all of them!

Security need a course in people skills. My moms in icu at juravinski and I ve been going every night to help ease her anxiety and wear her cpap machine. I parked in short term parking which was empty and advised the security guard standing outside wear I was headed. I used the phone to advise and ask to be buzzed in as per policy after 9:00 pm doors are locked. I was told the door would be opened and as I waited the guard who was outside sarcastically told me to open the door as it wasn t going to open itself. I looked back at him but didn t say anything and carried on my way. After helping my dying mom get comfortable and to sleep I exited the same way I came in and could see the same guard at the end of the hall. By the time I got to the exit he had disappeared and it became clear why. He called parking patrol and had me ticketed. The ticket says for parking in private property. I asked where security went and advised a nurse I wanted his name and I wanted to make a complaint and was told to leave or the police would be called. This is not right. I don t appreciate some powertripping security guard making my already stressful time worse. Like who would do something like this? Only a goof wannabe cop gets off bullying people visiting their ailing loved one. Big meathead with tattoos. Maybe he wants to be famous.

Spent 7 hours in the emergency department, the first 3 hours waiting with the other three people in there. The nurse on duty and the only one on duty Sept 17th was not the most compassionate in my opinion. I lived in Mississauga where Credit Valley is my choice but being in Hamilton now I wish I had of driven to Mississauga. I was given a IV drip that helped and was told to sit in a chair around the corner. That was great as none of the chairs were being wiped down as more patients came in, not a one you would think covid would make a difference. Shift change and the nurses got better not. I was told my morphine would be brought in 5 minutes 2 hours later and I was discharged ten minutes after getting the 2mg of morphine. I have only one other hospital to compare where I had my knee operation and all I can say I guess the economic and geographic make up of the community has a factor in care...

I came in at just before 4:30pm and told the ER staff that I've been coughing up yellow phlegm and blood for 2 days now (blood probably because I've been coughing so much). I also explained that I'm having difficulties breathing, tightness in chest (asthmatic), and difficulties swallowing. It's now almost 4 hours after I walked in their door. I'm still in the front waiting room to be called back so I can wait longer to see a doctor. Probably one of the worst trips I've had to make to this hospital. Their ER wait times are horrible. They really should look at removing the word "emergency" from their title, because obviously they don't know the meaning.

This place is horrible, I've been here when they were busy and they call a persons name every 15 to 20 min... Today its not busy only a few people in waiting room and they called 2 people in the last hour and a half... Probably playing cards while people r in desperate need of attention

A family member who is battling a critical condition has been at Juravinski Hospital since January 10, 2020. With all my heart, I thank the physicians and nurses for their excellent and compassionate care. God bless you, all! ... Evy, dated February 9, 2020

Nurse Brad in the ICU has been a pillar of hope and strength as my father in law (Husband's father) has been battling for his life. Thank you for your kindness, clear communication and attention you have given Terry. He is getting better because of you and your team mates.

After 5 hours of waiting in crucial pain doctor is giving diagnosis that is gull bladder to somone that doesn't have a gull bladder.
Then his guessing is ulcer.Realising patient with only antiacid pills ,dispite the fact he did not take any ultrasound .Plus priorities are not the same if you come with a rash on your beautiful leg you will be seen in a less then 5 h. most definitely.

Fantastic hospital, great staff. Clean and welcoming. Treated my wife with care and respect. The two doctors were very nice to us. However, Sharon, the nurse was the best from the great experience here. See you soon.

If they are not willing to see a patient might as well as ask him to leave instead of wasting time . Very rude staff. If you're a person of visible minority please visit a hospital where they consider you as a human.

My recent experience at Juravinski Hospital was a ...

My recent experience at Juravinski Hospital was a mixed bag.

My experience with the ambulatory emergency wing of RAZ was less than stellar to put it mildly. The nurses (I was there around 6:00 AM during shift transitions) who are mentioned in other reviews seemed more like gate keepers to actual care rather than professionals themselves. After being driven to the hospital by the ambulance and having most of my concerns dismissed, I was left strapped in the stretcher for an additional ~25 minutes. Only when I asked if I could be unbuckled and get up as I was becoming uncomfortable did the nurse and EMTs stop chatting and offer me a clean bed. At this point it was unknown if I had COVID-19, as I had not been tested. A test was administered, as was a round of IV antibiotics, steroids and oral Tylenol. Despite having a fever that did not break, a WBC count near 25K, bloody sputum, crippling headache/neck pain, radiating chest pain, extreme dehydration, and no results for COVID, I was discharged with a basic wide spectrum antibiotic.

The next day I returned to Emerg as I still had a fever over 101F, my chest pain was getting worse and I was beginning to cough up frank blood. I was admitted and seen quickly. This doctor (middle-aged Japanese fellow I believe) was much more receptive. He ordered chest x-rays and determined that I had a collection in my right lung, likely pneumonia. Still again I was discharged.

When I returned a third time I was finally admitted for in-patient care.

The rest of my experience at the hospital was fantastic. All of the nurses and doctors--particularly Liz, Becky and Dr. Tuner--had impeccable bedside manner. They seemed genuinely concerned with making patients as comfortable and well taken care of as possible. I give them great kudos.

I was discharged after a few days of fluids, antibiotics and additional diagnostic testing. Dr. Turner's office followed up with me and I was told that the sputum culture revealed I had a relatively bad case of legionellosis. My recovery since then has been as expected or better. Dr. Turner prescribed the correct oral antibiotics, and has scheduled me for additional bloodwork & follow-up tele-assessment.

It is a shame that the ambulatory section of Emerg seems to stonewall patients in receiving actual care and that a certain level of cynicism impedes their ability to perform their job and provide care. Had that not been the case, this would have been a 5-star rating.

Edit: I feel the need to mention that I understand that particularly during this time healthcare workers are under a great deal of stress. However, I do not think that should interfere with their ability to perform their job, especially when a patient is presenting with qualifiable and quantifiable symptoms.

Nursing staff very friendly and helpful but hospital is too full. Mom admitted Friday night and still in Emergency Overflow area on Wednesday afternoon. I don t mind her being there because she is getting good care but mom would like to be in a room with other people.

I was unexpectedly admitted to ICU after a routine procedure. Except that they had no vegetarian dinners, the staff was extremely professional and caring. I saw a total of 5 specialists including the doctor who performed the procedure. All were reassuring and explained the circumstances. It was a corrective experience after being a patient at Oakville Hospital.

I went for day surgery on april 3 2019. I cannot say enough how well i was treated. From admitting to the care i received from the nurses, nuclear medicine, porters, and operating room staff and after care was fantastic. It made my stay so comfortable. Thank you. Jean Quigley

My late husband had 21out of 30 chemo/radiation treatments after his brain surgery. Daily trips from out of town. Gas & parking expenses. This hospital was a nightmare from the get go. Limited communication from the "team" - necessary meds were delayed being given to patient before treatment - no compassion patient just a # - late treatment times when earlier times were requested & ignored - nurse from "team" refusing my husbands request to speak to the doctor. Doctor saying with treatment my husband would have another 2-5 years of life.....started treatment late Sept. Stopped treatment due to brain swelling end of October. Admitted to palliative care Nov. 5th and he died January 8th. Less than 5 months from diagnosis to death.

Very rude nurses, no privacy, bad service, long waiting hours, they Don't care of patients, people get tired and leave, service in Hamilton General is way better. They just told me that is my choice to leave. My wife is in pain. I can't believe it. These nurses are extremely rude with patients.

On July 12th 2019, I was admitted to Juravinski Hospital for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by Dr. Dath. He and his team of medical staff worked professionally and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. My experience with Dr. Dath and his entire staff has been a very impressive one.
Keep up the good work! Thank you.

My mom spent a month there last fall. The hopsital itself is very nice and has good amenities (gift shop, cafeterias etc). A lot of the rooms are starting to get quite run down but almost all of the staff were amazing!

I am currently recovering from surgery at Juravinski Hospital and have been here over a week. The staff here are amazing and dedicated people. The care I have received has been exemplary. Sure there were times I had to wait but we're so lucky to have what we have. Strangely enough the food is ok. Sure there has only been one nurse that really shouldn't be a nurse but I ensured that her behaviour didn't effect my recovery. Nothing is perfect, but its a whole lot better than being in the US.

Been waiting for 5 hours to speak with someone while my boyfriends toe is separated from the bottom of his foot. I'm honestly disgusted in the check in nurse and staff. They have cleared the waiting room and left him. Don't waste your time here. Go somewhere else.

Great facility with a great purpose. Giving it 3 stars because one of the staff apparently has a "corona" virus, but I didn't think drinking was allowed on shift. Might want to look into that.

My sister is in McMaster Children's Hospital suffering with tuberculosis meningitis and pneumonia. She is fighting for her life to something that could have been prevented if treated with proper care and seriousness early on. My sister went to visit Juravinski Hospital twice, for two days in a row. On her second visit a doctor at Juravinski Hospital told her, "Nothing is wrong with you. You can't be coming back here everyday and wasting people's time". If this hospital had taken my sister's illness seriously we would not be in the position we are in today. I recommend Juravinski to reevaluate their physicians so something like this NEVER happens to another child again.

The hospital was previously named after Nora Frances *Henderson*, the first woman elected to a municipal board of control in 1931 and who served on Hamilton council for 16 years. She was a hero. Now they named it after the people who gave them 25 million dollars. Just the message we want to send our children. Money is better than Hero.

they overrated my mother and 25 other women she has died as a result of this simple mistake and when I call to get even the smallest bit of info I get the run around and no answers. All the manageme staff should be ashamed of there selves as this hospital is a disaster and needs to be fixed ASAP. I will hate this hospital and all of the staff untill I die.

Nightmarish emergency room wait times are not the ...

Nightmarish emergency room wait times are not the fault of hospitals. One would be misinformed if they blamed that on a hospital. Managing that situation is where a hospital plays a major role.

The doctors we experienced on Fri June 21 in the emergency room were first class. I felt as I should have given each a huge tip the way you do for any good service.

The triage nurse was a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. She was compassionate when she communicated with my wife to obtain the required information but in the process of communicating she looked back at her colleagues on 3 occasions to continue a separate conversation which was an inside joke of theirs that they were all going to call in sick tomorrow, a jab at how busy it was, giggling each time. She would then turn around and wipe the smile off her face to continue her duties with my wife.

The lone nurse who was inside the second room where doctors are looking at patient was the worst, was very comfortable in being rude. She told my wife to take off her clothes but did not
provide a gown. There was no need for her to disrobe. When a blanket was requested her response was the she needed to wait as she only has two arms and two legs (a sufficient amount of limbs to grab a blanket from a shelf). I had heard her say that to someone else prior. My wife waited as she replaced the paper covers on beds. After 10 minutes I visually looked around for a shelf that had blankets and grabbed one myself, a process that would have taken her 30 seconds. She came with a blanket 5 minutes after I grabbed one myself. That s what patient experience has come down to, after a 4.5 hour wait, a request for a blanket is treated as such an onerous request.

The service we received at

The service we received at
3:00 a.m. recently was unexpected. All of the staff was upbeat and attentive. The resident, nurse and doctor were a dream team. I am very grateful for their attentive, efficient and thorough assistance and support during what could have been a much more stressful time.

The medical floor staff were better than the ER staff. Perhaps that just the nature of these things. The nurses were more caring and the doctors/residents seemed to have a better idea of what they were doing. That being said, one was adamant of her incorrect diagnosis and wouldn't hear it any other way (a certain chemo drug increases blood sugar, but the doc was certain it was type 2 diabetes). One of the contagious disease monitoring people hounded us at all hours of the day and night as if we'd walked in with SARS.
The floor itself is a bit dated, especially juxtaposed with the shiney, newly renovated Cancer Centre area of the hospital.

Went in for a urethralplasty, 7 months after a near fatal bicycle accident (caused by a cyclist), my surgeon and his surgical team did a great job on me and the 2 days spent in aftercare was superb. My day and night nurses were terrific, but I have to say my day nurse was above and beyond. She just knew what to do without me saying a thing. Although my surgery went very well, the lying on my back for 48 hrs with such pain was so excruciating, that when Ewa (pronounced Ehva ) came in it was her encouragement that made the difference. Still have a couple of months of recovery, but my faith in Dr. Davies and his team is unwavering...

First time coming here was for diagnostic imaging. Walked in through the main entrance and was immediately greeted by a gentleman at the information desk. He asked if I needed any help and I explained where I needed to go and he walked me there. Once there, check in was quick and friendly. X ray tech was also very friendly and helpful. Whole process had me in and out in 15 mins!

Rude people at the check in counter. They make you feel worse than you already do. Wait time is so terrible that people start leaving without seeing a doctor. Basically unless you are are having a heart attack or bleeding dry, they won't bother.

The year 2011 was a difficult year for me, because aggressive prostate cancer cast a dark shadow over me. Thirty Nine radiation treatments by highly trained technical staff who treated me with great respect, put my mind at ease. No serious side effects and enjoying life. My 2011 PSA reading was (16), my present PSA reading is (.26). Thank you Juravinski Hospital and (very kind) staff.

Got in got treated and released in record time for a Canadian hospital. Great facility, great staff. Ryan aka Jeff (lol) was there for my surgery for set up and recovery. Great guy. The rest of the staff was awesome too wish I remembered everyone's names. They were calm patient and through. Explained everything and could also deal with my bad humour :p

Wouldn t even give 1 star.

Wouldn t even give 1 star.
Honestly the worst hospital and seevice I ve experienced in my entire life. Nurses were beyond ignorant. Got extremely angry with me cause a nurse had me confused with another patient; telling me I needed to give a urine sample cause I was in the second room when I told her three times very clearly I was in room one, not two. Then told me to sit down while she looked. To then say oh sorry had you mixed up with someone else - who was in the room and the complete opposite description of myself. They also left a lady sitting in a room for 20+ and longer I d assume once we left with an IV in her arm which was starting to retract her blood. Her partner had come out numeripus times, beyond politely to ask for it taken out to be bitched at and shut down. This was after being told they d be in in a second - 20 minutes later. Sat in the waiting room for close to an hour and a half for the doctor upstairs to look at my X-ray sheet to tell me nothing was wrong because the nurses wouldn t take two seconds to look (which he made clear was what should have happened). If they cared truly, they would have helped me furthermore. Not left it at the X-ray shows nothing, sorry your going to have to deal with the pain go home.

Been sitting here for 3 hours watching my husband get paler and writhing in pain while everyone who came here after us has already gone in. Who are they to decide his emergency is not as urgent as others without him seeing a doctor? Pretty sure his pain is more serious than the woman I just saw go in with a sore foot!

I came in to the ER and needed to see Dr Eiriksson. The poor nurses were understaffed due to illness, but they did their best to keep everyone happy and taken care of. I was seen by Dr Eirikssons gynecologic oncology team who were so kind and nice. They worked really hard to get me into the tests I needed. Once my results came back, they got me into surgery as fast as possible. The anesthesiologists were very nice and reassuring. After surgery I was taken care of by some of the kindest and friendliest nurses I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They did everything they could for me.

If you want to die from neglect and end up with a severe MRSA infection, this is the hospital for you. Three people I know personally have: 1) died 30 mins after being sent home without proper exam and callously told to call another ambulance if their breathing continued to decline; 2) nearly died after contracting a MRSA which wasn't present when they were admitted; and 3) been left for 12 hours with untreated broken bones despite having a known blood clotting condition.

The level of uncleanliness here is unspeakable and the long wait times are icing on the poisoned cake. Unfortunately for patients, the General isn't much better and McMaster is now restricted to only kids.

Note to staff: DON'T you dare try to hold someone's hand and spend hours AFTER you let their loved one die due to your incompetence just so you can gauge how likely they will be to sue your butts for wrongful death.

My aunt was here several years ago for oncology surgery and spoke highly of them (she introduced me to one of her nurses who was quite nice).
I had a follow up ultrasound here about a year or so ago, the student who did the ultrasound and the tech who double checked were very nice, as the receptionist checking me in. Nice hospital

HORRIBLE PEOPLE SKILLS, HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I came in the emergency room Saturday morning around 7am. I was having some pains..To be a nurse you must have patience no matter how big or small the emergency is..to the blonde nurse wearing that white and grey sweater..Your attitude sucks as a nurse..she needs to be re trained on how to talk to people and handle people with care..she was to rough and firm for no reason ,I have so much bruises on my arm that could of been avoided, it's like she was doing it on purpose because my reason for being there wasn't "emergency" enough for her.., it's a hospital not a psych ward.
