After Ippudo it was hard to find a place that served good ramen. This restaurant however is equally good if not better. Additionally, the servers are super nice!
I always get the tonkotsu with a side of their spicy paste (it s their secret weapon).
On other occasions, we have tried their sushi (they have a huge menu) and gyoza which are both very good.

I have had the owner in my barber chair at savant Studio and he is a great guy. So with that along with his reputation I could not wait for a evening with my lady in his restaurant. And it did not disappoint. Quality, atmosphere, cleanliness, affordability, and above all else a delicious unique take on dining!!!
So very grateful for the food

Ordered the chicken teriyaki meal (I know, I know I should've ordered sushi, but still) it was suuuper tough and just really overcooked and awful. I politely asked the server, who barely spoke English, if I could get a replacement and explained that it was so overcooked I could barely chew it, not exaggerating at all unfortunately. She said she'd ask the chef to remake it. Great.

She brought out another plate a few minutes later. The chicken was ICE COLD. No joke. My husband tried both as well and was equally as confused. I mean, if a chef can't even cook a basic grilled chicken, I wouldn't trust them to cook me anything ever again. However if the chef did this to spite me, then touche, but that's still very poor service. Luckily, after much unnecessary negotiation on my part, the server agreed not to charge me for my meal.

My husband had a few sushi rolls, which he had more success with, but he still said it was just mediocre. Haven't and won't go back here ever again. If you want good but affordable sushi, go to Yi instead.

Love this restaurant!

Love this restaurant!
I've enjoyed both my tonkutsu ramen and chicken karaage. It's super tasty and price worthy.

Probably my favorite Japanese restaurant in salt lake. Having lived in Japan for a period of time I am quite critical of the Japanese food that I have. Yet this place surpassed my expectations. I ordered their nigiri plate, the scallop sashimi, and the tonkatsu ramen. I judge most sushi places based on how fishy the sushi tastes which says a lot about the location from where they obtain their fish and/or how they prepare it.
The raw scallops are usually a good indication of whether or not a restaurant prepares their sushi well and they practically melted faster than butter in my mouth. It. was. fantastic. The salmon, tuna, everything tasted spectacularly amazing. The ramen was the closest Japanese style ramen that I have had in SLC and was very well seasoned and flavored, but unfortunately lacked some of the principle ingredients commonly served with ramen. Despite this, I still give it a 5-star review due to the extremely nice customer service, the great presentation, and the chill, yet upscale vibe. Would love to see some more unique rolls/plates on the menu though. Something with the chef's spin on it.

This restaurant has amazing sushi. It is reasonably priced, and has a great atmosphere. It's the only place in Lalt Lake City that I will go for amazing sushi. It's centrally located and easy to find. And, the restaurant is always very clean, including the restrooms.

This place is amazing. The sushi tastes so fresh. I've been to a lot sushi places in utah. And this place is by far the best it like it coming tight out of the ocean. The salmon melts in your mouth!! I highly recommend this place.

Excellent ramen. Especially the pork is very very good. Trust me, try it out. For the base I would go for the tonkotsu or miso, the shoyu was a bit tasteless. Also sushi is well made, recommended warmly overall.

Just incredible. Jesus told me this place was the place to go. I went and it was celestial. I got the veggie tempura roll and my abscessed tooth didn t complain. Highly recommended, come as soon as possible. Also the bathroom smells like my favorite vape shop

Amazing experience! I've been searching for my go to sushi spot in salt lake and I just found it! Food was fantastic, I got a couple rolls and a bento box. The steak teriyaki was excellent quality even better than I'd expect from a lunch special. Rolls all were fresh and so tasty. The restaurant is also very clean and following covid guidelines.

A top place for delicious Sushi. Nice place to think about business. The staff was very welcoming and observant. The bill was fair for the quality of food. Mood here reminds me of San Diego's scene.

We were going to go to Takashi, but the wait was over an hour, so we ended up here! Best choice! The sushi was delicious, the service was great. We sat at the bar highly recommended! The sushi chefs are delightful and funny. Overall, 10/10.

Dinner her was really good. Service was a little slow for as dead as they were. Food came out very quickly, but the drink refills and check took a while. The fish is really fresh with no fishy taste. The rolls are very unique and they have their own twist on some classic rolls that are really good. The poke bowl was really good and had a great variety of fish as well as amazing flavor. If you are looking for a new place to try, Hamachi is definitely worth a stop!

I love sushi and nigiri, but this was less than a 1 star rating. I cannot speak about customer service bc my order was for take out. When I opened my order, the nigiri has fish scales all over it, and had the most foul fish smell. I ve eaten enough fish to know what fresh fish smells like. Unfortunately I came here one time and will never go back again :/

Food was horrible. I have worked at sushi restaurants and know good sushi. We were looking forward to a delicious dinner. VERY disappointing. Worse, the owner was rude and incredibly dismissive. There are plenty of great sushi places in SLC, go to one of them and skip Hamachi

I'm Japanese (born and raised), so I know Japanese food. It's extremely rare for me to approve of Japanese restaurants in US. The Japan town in SF is one of the few places I've known that make authentic Japanese food. Now, I don't have unrealistic expectations to enjoy authentic Japanese food in Utah. But, many of my friends want to go to a Japanese restaurant once they know I'm from Japan, which is usually a torture for me because I can't enjoy Japanese food around here as they often cannot satisfy my Japanese palate. As such, I had a low expectation when my friend wanted to try this restaurant. To my surprise, they served authentic Japanese food. Food was made right. They cooked rice right. Their menu had a few minor items that you don't see in wannabe Japanese restaurants. I'm actually curious to know how it is that they know how to make true Japanese food. I went to their website, but I couldn't find much info there. I've been to this restaurant a few times, and the only mistake I spotted was that they misspelled one of the ramen noodles. They spelled the pork flavor as "Tonkatsu ramen." The correct name is "Tonkotsu ramen." I let the waitress know about it. Not sure if they've fixed it, but I hope they did. Good job, Hamachi. I approve that you know how to make authentic Japanese food.

I am skiing the east and this is my first visit to slc. After the first night eat here at Hamachi the second night when discussed where to eat, we all agreed to come here again. We normally would not eat same thing twice during a trip but Hamachi break our rule. Fresh, well flavored and good service, I was so surprised to find such a good shushi place in a city so far away from any major Asian hub.

Excellent quality and Service. You will love to go here again. Menu option is great. Sushi looked and taste fresh. Overall it was a great experience to dine at this restaurant. It may look small but don't judge a restaurant by it's size.

Sushi is really good here.

Sushi is really good here.

With the pandemic I order to go often. I ve put in the notes in my to go order please separate the cold food and hot foods into different/ separate/
multiple bags. This is the only restaurant that does not follow my instructions & I ve had to throw my sushi away- twice- because the miso soup is placed ON TOP of the sushi box and it cooks and gets ruined. I will not be eating here anymore.

Be careful overcharging!!!

Be careful overcharging!!!
I have no problem with food. However, they overcharge me on the food prices and tips. I called them to void the difference, but they said I have to come at the restaurant to do this. I do not get it why I have to waste my time and gas because of their mistake. Anyhow, enjoy your meal here and check your bill from them when they charge you!

Jake is the man! Killer fresh fish.. toro off bigeye from hawaii. He made a special roll that had sesame leaf inside- such a delightful surprise. Chirashi is very simple, but that is their style. Excellent service. Wife's Yakisoba w/ chicken was excellent, as well as miso soup. Will be back.

The tempura apatitezer is good. (Like most places, tho on the more expensive side 8 dollars)
Had the tonkatsu ramen. The broth and seasoning was good, pork in it was great! But the noodles were basically spaghetti noodles.

My date had the pokey bowl and it came out 20 mins after mine.

Service was friendly.

Will update if I try the sushi which I suspect is quite good.

The sushi is solid and very well priced. It's difficult to differentiate yourself when it comes to sushi but several of the rolls were unique and different from anything I've tried. The poke bowl was also delicious!

We're so happy to have found this place. I've passed by it for a few months now but I only got a chance to eat here today. We ordered yellowtail nigiri, miso soups, mr. Miyagi roll, negi Hama roll, seaweed salad, sunomono, red snapper sashimi, green tea and a small can of sake. Everything was well made, the raw fish was fresh and tasty, the miso soup was was very good (I could taste it was made with dashi) and the gyoza was delicious and crunchy.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after 2 pm and the inside was full so they sat us outside. It was a bit chilly but nice to be outside when it's not too hot. I was surprised to see the sashimi came with real wasabi, not the powdered kind that makes the light green paste we all see at sushi restaurants.

Service was attentive. They offered refills for the miso soup and green tea. They checked in on us multiple times, but it wasn't intrusive.

The service and food here is amazing! It's not very expensive either. We got two drinks, a Maki roll, and two entrees for under $40. The waitress was attentive and very kind, the food was brought to our table very quickly, and it was amazing. Probably the best meal I've had in a couple years. We'll definitely be coming back a lot.

last night was the first time we went to this restaurant. But It is obviously not the last. We passed a splendid evening with the attentive service, with the superb dishes and wine and with the decent charge. We will absolutely come back again.

MSG in their ramen. I am very sensitive to MSG and get palpitations and rapid heart rate from it. I order from here pretty often and the food is great, including the ramen. Today I decided to get the tonkotsu ramen along with a few other things I always get which never caused anything before. Maybe they put a little too much, I don t know. Restaurant owners: if you are reading this, please be extremely mindful of how much MSG you put in your food, I assure you it would still be great if there wasn t any. The side effects are extremely unpleasant to some and sensitive people don t usually expect there to be any in Japanese food.

My visiting sister summed it up best, "My biggest take away from visiting SLC is not to trust 4.5 star restaurant reviews." We ordered the Mr. Miyagi, avenue, crispy tuna taretare, jazz, garden, and lollipop rolls. Apart from the jazz roll, I thought the other rolls' flavors were either overpowered by fatty sauces or just weird. I've had slightly better quality ingrediants from other local SLC sushi restaurants. If you're used to a higher quality of food from other cities, Hamachi feels overpriced and underwhelming.

This place gives one of the most authentic food with amazing taste and quality but reasonable prices for students. One of the thing that blew me away was how clean this place is. All tables and seats are cleaned with bleach every time they are used, and so are the menus. I would be more than willing to drive 40' just to enjoy my time here. 5 stars!

love the ramen! Great atmosphere. People seem to dress up for this place. However, I stumbled on this place last minute and was not prepared. I wasn't dressed up, but was treated with kindness and everyone enjoyed their meal.
