Habourside Seafood Bar and Grill Reviews

We were looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy a drink and a late lunch. Tried one little Mexican place along Main Street they had happy hour so we went in an checked it out. It was so hot, so busy (all you can eat taco Tuesday) and loud. My husband ordered a beer while we looked at the menu, the server needed to take our credit card to hold until we paid the bill. Not to thrilled about that with all the scamming out there. We paid for our beer, cash and left.
We walked further down the street and found the Harborside restaurant, our server was Shannon and she was great. We had a beer and white wine, happy hour prices. We opted to share a few of the items from the happy hour menu, which had a great selection. We had the lettuce cups( there were 2 in an order) very tasty, we also had the calamari and fried Zuchinni. We should have stopped there, but we had also ordered the chicken quesadilla. There was plenty of food. The zuchinni and calamari although deep fried, were not greasy. They were so good. The hubby had the quesadilla and reports that it was also very good.
I would definitely return. Total was just under $30 for all 4 appetizers and 2 drinks. Pretty reasonable if you ask me, for great quality service and ocean views, in a quiet little area of the harbour.

The food was really good. A little slow and one member of our party never received her food, but I think we were still charged for it. They took a long time bringing our check and we had to leave to take the harbor cruise

This spot is worth visiting. They have big portions for affordable prices. Consistently clean and with good mood. I highly recommend this place.

Have had lunch here before, and it was very good. Came for dinner with some friends tonight. Honestly, just a so so meal. Won't be coming back for dinner again most likely. We both had fish and chips (an expensive $16 per plate). 3 small fish sticks and a mound of fries. To top things off, it took 25 minutes to get out bill. Like I said, won't be back for a dinner meal.

Great happy hour! Excellent prices, good size portions too. Went there for a birthday & got a piece of cake that was the best ever- half carrot cake half cheesecake. Phenomenal!

I've tried the restaurant ,honestly there is a best fried calamari in the world you will taste. if you love seafood dishes this restaurant is your heaven.

Great kids menu! Excellent prices and healthy choices for children and adults. Special prices on certain evenings when you arrive early. If you get a window table you and the kids will be treated to an amazing wildlife show - the pelicans, herons, and egrets vie for bait as the fishing boats come in. Fantastic view. Friendly attentive service. Exceeded expectations. I recommend for a date night or family meal.

This restaurant/bar has a fantastic view. Great to watch sailboats, power boats and very large yachts cruise by in Newport Bay. The food is ok. Nice selection but mainly bar food. Did not dine in the restaurant. 4.5 stars for the view. 3.5 stars for food. Also where whale watcher boats dock.

Service was fine, food was pretty good, we had a table for 8 but wished we could have sat by the window. It's cool to see the bay and also the various tour or fishing boats coming and going.

The place had old smelly carpet, old booths, no ambiance and the food was nothing. I was actually embarrassed I took my guests there..i felt like I was in a Dennys

The food was delicious, there's no doubt about it and our server was very attentive. However, the location itself was very loud. I had been hoping to enjoy a quiet intimate dinner with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day and I felt like I was eating at a neighboring Chili's.

Solid happy hour menu and great water views. Everyone with me said the oysters were really good as well.

This place is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this restaurant. when I feel like having a proper lunch, this restaurant comes straight to my head. fresh and all kinds of food and a rich cuisine.generous staff members, and pleasant mood. I admire this place a lot. there is a romantic mood. The food is splendid. the service is dynamic and the waiters are trained. The pay is fair. I definitely recommend.

Fantastic food, everything I tried was delicious. Decent views but service wasn't attentive enough, had to keep asking for server. My meal was above average and I will definitely be coming back for the salmon.

Clean, safe an delicious. Excellent service with exceptional team support. If our server was busy, the other servers jumped in to refresh waters and cater to our eating experience. They have fantastic food and starters we enjoyed the chicken lettuce cups and the french dips. The turkey dinner with the most farm fresh veggies I've had in awhile. The host Clay got us a table right away even with out reservations.

The delicacy of the fish, the crunch on the outside, the tenderness on the inside. The succulent flavors of the mango chutney my god, I know what heaven tastes like.
Please get it! Please try it! And tell me you don't feel the same.

Had a good experience here with my son. The food arrived quick and the service is just good. Prices are reasonable.

A great day at our favorite place... Love the bar love the boats and we even get to see a Marriage Proposal dockside.

OVERALL: Good service with nice views in a nice interior. Pricey value.

The family wanted a nice lunch after whale-watching. This restaurant is right next door, offers a varied menu, and had clam chowder (what they wanted). I'm not a fish fan, so I had a hamburger at the suggestion of the waitress. She also suggested the Calamari appetizer which we ordered.

The waitress was terrific. The food took some time, but she made it pleasant.

Everyone enjoyed the Calamari. Most everything ordered (see pictures) was tasty, and those who ordered the clam chowder enjoyed it .

We asked for some substitutions and all were accommodated (plus+).

Now about the cheeseburger ($15). It was beautifully presented and had everything it should, but it just didn't have the beefy taste a restaurant hamburger should. I was disappointed. The sweet potato fries were a $1.50 up-charge, and were very good. I asked for blue cheese dressing for my fries, and WOW, great blue cheese dressing. Had I know that, I would have ordered the Cobb Salad instead. It was that good. It also came with another side...coleslaw. It was very good, was sweet in taste, and had raisins. Not bad.

While the experience was a good one, this was more convenient than a "go-to" place. I was overruled by the non-foodies in the family when I suggested going to Fashion island (variety of dining). I was right, but still enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful dining room with a big window view of the inlet.

I was there for a wedding and it was beautiful. Having a view of the boats in the harbor was nice. The staff was friendly and professional. The food was delicious. However, parking!!! Parking was a problem. They have valet parking but it was full! I had to park far away and Uber. I almost missed the wedding ceremony.

Update : Management got a hold of me regarding my problems with the valet company. The restaurant staff has been very courtes and professional in every interaction I have had with them. It's very unfair to the restaurant that the valet service isn't doing their part to maintain a pleasant atmosphere, but hopefully once I speak to the valet service's owner, something can be done about that.

We went to an event in the ballroom upstairs. The room has beautiful views and big open space - great for a party. The food was mediocre but the service was friendly. The staff seemed undertrained though and dirty dishes were left on the tables for an excessive amount of time - over half an hour.

Seated right on time of our reservation. Waiter was fun and atmosphere of the bay was incredible. Food was superb. You can not go wrong making a stop at this fantastic restaurant.

Had my son's rehearsal dinner there last night. It was fantastic! The service was amazing and the food was really good. Jason, the manager, was so great to work with, he made it super easy and it was very affordable!

Great location, big portions and the seafood is pretty darn good. Wish I took pics of the crab salad, it was really great. Prove point want horrible, but parking is a pain (not a negative for the restaurant, just the area). Place is beautiful too.

Another "vintage" restaurant that charges for it's history and beautiful location, rather than their food. I felt that everything we ordered was overpriced for what we got. We ordered a tuna melt (good, but not very big), the mahi tacos (largely flavorless, with ok salsa), and a salmon dinner (which turned out to be good). My advice here is to purchase their more expensive fish dinners in order to get something both satisfying and good. The wait staff were very accommodating.

Can't beat the view, and coming at a non-peak time ensures worry-free parking and a harbor view table.

Nice restaurant, decor could use a refresh but the food was really good and it's right on the water. Good food with a view is always nice!

Harborside has the best happy hour in Newport Beach. Their staff is friendly and professional.

Food was good, had the rack of lamb. Four piece's along with mashed and strung beans. Very good. We also had the turkey breast. The dressing was different looking but quite good. We'll be coming back. Oh, we had David as our server, did a great job.

Certainly a place worth stopping over, the food is excellent and fresh, the costs are affordable and it is consistently well organized here. Highly recommended.
