Love the breakfast burritos. Gave it 4 stars because ONE time I had a hair in my burrito. But they are super good so i still come back. Staff is very friendly.

Waited 40 minutes for a sandwich, found out via eavesdropping on other frustrated customers that there deli slicer had been acting up and they'd been having trouble getting orders out. Would have been great to know before ordering as I'm limited on time for my lunch break, no problem, I'm patient and my boss is understanding, sandwich gets in my hand after a painful 45 minutes, and the order was made wrong.... thanks for lunch Gus! It's all good High st. is closer to the office anyway.

Just want to add, this place is usually pretty awesome, was my go to lunch at least once a week for going on two years, always experiance great service and awesome food, today just left a bitter taste in my mouth, employee didn't even acknowledge the wait time or inconvienace as he handed me my food. Maybe this relationship just needs a break for awhile...

I love Gus's their quality has gotten better over the years. They have passed other sandwich shops in town for me handily.

Deli closes early consistently, sometimes up to an hour before their posted closing time. No rhyme or reason to when they'll serve you food.

Did you know that they roast off there our roast beef?? No pre formed pre cooked beef here. Very tasty!! Gotta try it if you haven't!!

Hands down the best sandwich place in SLO County. The sandwiches are a little bit pricey, but totally worth it. And if you get the "Bomber" size sandwich, I guarantee you'll be taking half of it home.

My favorite sandwich place in slo. Awesome food, great atmosphere, great beer selection. On a sunny day nothing beats a good hike then a sandwich and beer on the gus's patio. I highly reccomend the fried pickle Spears as well. Parking can fill up fast so sometimes you will have to walk a block or two but its well worth it.

Great food, their Thursday special is especially good, a wonderful turkey sandwich on fluffy housemade Focaccia. The food and drinks are on the pricier side though, but the portions usually make up for it.

Parking is on the street and usually there are a few spots available even when it s busy

Seating is outside so not ideal for a rainy or cold day but really nice on a sunny day

After more than 4 years in San Luis Obispo, I think I ve decided that Gus s has the best breakfast burrito. The crunchy potatoes probably put it over the edge.
It s also got a great local feel to it, with regulars popping in for conversation. I definitely recommend it if you re undecided.

Tasty sandwiches, ample outdoor seating, street parking, and large beverage selection. I still prefer High Street over Gus's, but they're both good.

Been going here for over 15 years. Never disappointed. Great local place. Quick service. Call your order in ahead of time for pick up if you are in a hurry at lunch. This place gets hopping. Quality ingredients make the difference.

Just a consistently good sandwich and deli place. Just discovered that you can order online, and I was impressed with the online interface, super easy to use when ordering a custom sandwich with all the toppings were there. They have a big selection of options for your sandwich and will make your sandwich hot if you request it. The outdoor patio is also great on nice days and if you are eating with a group. The breakfast burritos are also great, but be sure to call ahead or else you might have an unexpectedly long wait.

I work for Amtrak and San Luis Obispo was my layover stop..i was told to try the sandwiches and the tri tip barbque sandwich was exactly what the doc ordered...i called in advance and it was ready when i arrived...wonderful..will have them again and recommend them over and over! Thank you

If you're looking for a decent deli shop, look no further. Whatever you do, don't go to High Street.

A disappointment. They were more impressed with themselves than I was. OK for sandwiches and a beer but thou can do better.

Gus's is a great sando shop. You'll find 95% satisfaction across the board when you visit. If your in a hurry to get back to work or expect a quick sandwich at lunch time when everyone else is hungry just like you, be smart call it in 20 minutes ahead. There's a reason it gets crowded and is a local favorite.

OMG this place was better then I expected. I love the home town feel there. It's a small establishment no chain, make everything fresh there for you.

I want to love this place like I used to...I really do. But my sandwich is wrong EVERY time I come. Either it s missing something I marked, it s a whole instead of a half. It s on the wrong bread. Etc. etc. I always look at my order sheet afterwards...thinking I must have made the mistake? Nope. The wait is always too long, so I just deal with what they give me. But why guys, whyyyyyy?

This is definitely the number 1 sandwich shop in Slo. Many give that title to high Street deli but high Street is over-hyped and over-priced. I am a full fledged sandwich enthusiast, so I take these things seriously. What I love about Gus's is that they don't charge for any toppings except the premium ones like bacon and avocado, so you can load up your sandwich with every standard topping and condiment at no additional cost. The quality of ingredients is fantastic all around. The bread and cheese selection is vast as well. My personal favorite is the curry chicken salad because it's very unique and flavorful. The hot sandwiches and breakfast burritos are all fantastic as well.

This is my favorite sandwich place in the world, drove 3 hours today to get a sandwich..... Closed early, the guy was leaving. Coming back.

Its okay. Nothing too special tbh. Staff is very friendly. Sandwiches were decent but not amazing. And for some reason there are always flies buzzing everywhere there. I mean this dates back as far as I can remember :/

Just went to order breakfast. 2 employees and no customers. Waited for 5 minutes to order and was completely ignored. Terrible

Ordered a turkey wrap... might as well call it a salad with turkey garnish. 95% of the wrap was lettuce and had to search for the few pieces of turkey..will never order again and will try another type of sandwich.

One of my favorite places to eat in SLO and some of the best sandwiches and breakfast burritos that I have ever had. Lunchtime can get rather busy, so calling in ahead of time to place your order can help you skip the wait. Otherwise, you can always sit out on the shaded patio while awaiting your food.

Been in SLO for about 6 years, and I've only been coming to Gus's for the past year. Seems like I've been missing out for the past 5!

They've got some awesome sandwiches and KILLER breakfast burritos! Overall, really great food and some amazing people working there, especially during these difficult times.

Have always loved these sandwiches, only place I know of that you can get your sandwich steamed (an actual steamer!). Best deli in SLO.

The atmosphere outside on the terrace is very nice, the attention is friendly and jovial, the prices are very accessible. Good place to eat a good sandwich.

College town sandwich and beer shop. Decent place to grab a bite but nothing spatcular.

We had no idea about this place (we were just passing through SLO) but we are so glad we dropped in. My partner would tell anyone who would listen how great his sandwich was for about a week afterwards.

Busy and small. Mostly outdoor dining. Good selection of beer. Sandwiches made to order. Can be a little slow and parking is limited to the street.

Good sandwiches. A great place to get a pitcher of beer, and a sandwich for an afternoon with your friends.

Be prepared to wait a while while you watch Door Dash get priority line cutting access. Guess regular customers don't count the same in this new normal.
