After meaning to visit the Exploreum, we finally made time to do so. We got there about 3:00 and were concerned that we didn't have time to do the Center justice. The lady at the desk said that it usually takes families about an hour to go through the Center. Our inquisitive pre-teen managed to be the very last person to leave after they closed at 5:00. Two hours wasn't nearly enough time for our visit. The exhibits were good. The activities were good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff-led activities were really engaging. It looks like we'll have to go back again soon.

We drove 2 hours on Sunday to take our kids to the exploreum. Pulled up and parked a mile away and started walking in. A ton a of people with kids were walking away with disappointed looks. One of the parents said it was closed for a private event. Sure enough it was. We rechecked the website calender and nothing was listed. It said it was open from 12-5 to the general public. Clearly not the case. Come on people! Imagine the disappointment after such a long drive. Thanks Exploreum! Update your website!

My daughter, my grandson, and I had an awesome time! They were showcasing the dinosaurs and it was amazing. We watched a movie in the IMAX theater describing the story of how dinosaurs lived so long ago and the fossils that were uncovered. Highly recommend that you check this out for yourself! They had so many other exhibits that keeps an active mind occupied! There are gift shops, as well as a small cafeteria for snacks. Will most definitely come back again!

I'm 27 years old and have been visiting this place since I was a small child. One of the greatest attractions Mobile has to offer. It's best to plan your trip coinciding with one of their featured exhibits. My favorites have been the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Human Body exhibits. But even if they don't have any major exhibits, their normal day-to-day entertainment is always a blast. Learning and fun packed into one. And they have the only IMAX theater that I'm aware of on the Gulf Coast. I have seen lots of awesome documentaries in their theater. This place is really awesome and I hope it'll remain open so I can take my kids, my grandkids, my great grandkids, and haunt my great great grandkids as they learn about science in a super fun way.

Every thing in hands on side is ALWAYS broken and even first thing in the morning everything is covered in a sticky nasty smelly film. Traveling displays ( dead Sea scrolls, Pompeii, the bodies) are great but normal musuem is horrible and run down.

Our group ranged in age from 7-75. The special exhibit was Animation Academy. It covered the early days to recent, contemporary works. A great wealth of knowledge and exposure awaits young and old minds alike. The health exhibit provides insight into medical procedures as well as personal health/fitness assessments. The endoscopy display shows the skill doctors must have for delicate procedures. No IMAX for my group. We are looking forward to the Genghis Khan exhibit in the spring!

Do not hesitate... get in your car and go now! I went for a visit with four generations of my family from age 1 1/2 to 68. When it was time to leave, they all had to be drug out of the building. Beyond the sheer entertainment value, the Exploreum provides a fun educational process that is blast for absolutely everyone. Reasonable entry fees and cafe offerings, this family adventure can last all day without breaking the bank. A must do in scenic downtown mobile.

I guess we've been to too many kids attractions to be wowed by this outdated venue. The best part was the hands on part where you got to make boats and paper planes, etc and we were only allowed a few minutes in there (we were on a field trip). Has potential but needs some updating.

I've always enjoyed bringing my family here. Definitely a must for grade school aged children. I would love to see some space related exhibits and events, as well as STEAM/STEM programs that specifically target girls.

Amazing childrens play area! The museum needs cleaning and some attention but this is a wonderful place to play. The body exhibit truly needs to be reconsidered. It does not truly offer interactive educational experiences. It certainly tries.

Lots to do for all ages. Some exhibits are always there, others are traveling, so they change from time to time. Newly revamped, so if you haven't been in awhile, check it out. Great place to have a kids birthday party. We had my daughter's 8th birthday party there, with kids from 4- almost 9 in attendance, everyone had a blast!!

Pretty great for little (Pre-K) kids. Older kids can have fun too. Middle school and up will enjoy the IMAX experience, but the price tag does go up a bit. Still not that bad and parking around the area is very inexpensive compared to NO. Plenty to eat nearby too, but avoid "the fort" it's just bleh.

I purchased a family membership earlier this year. We have gone many times over the year. Thankfully my child is still a toddler and is easily entertained. The play area for younger kids is good, but everthing else leaves much to be desired. The permanent exhibit is in desperate need of updating. They have the same stuff from when I visited as a kid, but now most of it doesn't work. There was only one good special exhibit all year that was about prehistoric creatures. The others (DEA War on Drugs and Water's Extreme Journey) were not interesting and out of place for a fun kid's museum. We went to a special Superheroes event day last week and it was just as underwhelming as I had expected. The only thing different was that they had three extra craft/activity tables in the entrance and some extra workers/volunteers. One of the special activity tables was literally a tub of water with a normal sized cup and a tiny cup (to show how gravity works?).

Took my one year old to see Curious George and it was awesome! There s also the option to get a day pass and let the kiddos play. For a stay at home mom, it s nice to spice things up and this is a great option. They also have themed exhibits and I highly recommend checking them out!

My family and I have a membership and it's totally worth it. My son goes to the summer camp and learns about all kinds of cool stuff and we usually go to any events they host. Also we travel alot and with the exploreum membership we get free entrance to science museums across the country.

Bought a membership, still haven't received it over a month later. Also the smallest science museum I've ever seen. It only has two exhibition rooms and a large kids play area. Don't waste your money unless you have a membership.

Took the grandbabies on a spur of the moment adventure. They are 3 & 4 they had a blast and really enjoyed learning about their bodies. I didn't give 5 stars because the 3rd floor display was empty.

We loved our visit to the Exploreum. The human body exibit was playful and insightful. The engineering playroom was engaging. Both my 6 and 8 year old kids enjoyed building parachutes and folding paper airplanes. This place was high quality for a low cost.

Then place is nice. A little expensive for the amount to do there. The place didn't have enough for the class class trip. They actually said,"Now for the best part of the trip...lunch." At which time they took us to the courtyard with little shade, gave us some small lunch, and told us to stay an hour before coming back in. We didn't pay $120 for that. Plus they kept ad libbing stuff to keep the kids busy: Talking about 10 creatures (not dinosaurs) for over an hour, a hourish sound presentation (commercial being shot) in an overcrowded imax theater. Great place to stop in for maybe 2 hours that you can pace yourself. The crafting area was neat just could only stay for a certain amount of time.

In general, it is a great place if you are under 12. If you are over 12, the rotating exhibit is cool (we saw Ghengis Khan). However, if you over 12, the explorium portion is easy to get through in ~90 minutes. There just is only so much compelling interaction for teens or adults.

We have the ASTC pass and go to as many science centers that we can during our travels. The Gulf Coast Exploreum was decent and had some nice options for toddlers (our 3yo and 1yo enjoyed themselves). However as Momma, I would have preferred it to be a little more clean and maintained. The new body exhibits are cool though!

Great fun! They have a wonderful hands on learning section. This area included flight simulators although they were not working properly when I was there, a large water play table, oversized building blocks, Lego table, parachute and hover experimentation area, an ocean themed ball and more.

A decent stop on our road trip. For the price of admission we were a little dissapointed. A lot of the interactive things weren't working or broken. There was not as much here as we thought. It does have an IMAX which we did not do cause of timing. Our 10 year old enjoyed it.

We were here for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised by what it was. There is an hour of play time before being taken to the party room. Our host was great but we both felt like the gifts could have gone better. After the party, we had until closing to play in the rest of the Exploreum.
