They knew my son had a mental health issue(no violence, ever). They were told in 3 different phone calls and a 2 hour interview before I left hirn there, in great detail, about entire history. I live clear across the state. He signed himself out of a rehab here to go there. I was with him during intake and they were told again of all issues. I left him there. Very next day I get a call stating they can't accept anyone with mental health issues?!? But since it person who was in charge was not in until Monday I'd have to wait until then to get him. So he spent 4 days there thinking it was the answer to his prayers because they didn't tell him until I got there that they were kicking him out. I guess it's great if you are rare alcoholic/homeless person with no mental health issues.

This organization is in violation of many Michigan laws and I have brought this to their attention and they are unwilling to correct it. They provide rehab services to desperate people in exchange for forced labor and forcing their religion down your throat in the form of mandatory church services multiple times a day. They don t let people in the program have any communication, even with their children, which is against the law. Do not let your loved ones go here simply because it s free.

Guiding light is a great program that I would love to have been allowed to grow in. Unfortunately they saw something in me that was not a good fit so I am going to continue my journey with joy in my heart and no bad feelings.

I took my husband to their facility... we also called the day before hand...we got there, the gentlemen at front desk was nice. The intake gentlemen was late, and he apologised. After they drug screened him, and talked to him ( More like yelled at him...) then turned him away, because of trauma and PTSD...he isn't violent at all. They rudely told me to take him to the psych ward...which the psych ward wont take you, unless you're sucidal or homicidal.... For someone who stands by a cross, they're not very christan at all.

Guiding Light is truly a safe haven for men that need and want to get there life in order. Its really number1 in my book for helping men that are down and out that are trying to get back on their feet again.

They offer much for men who need help getting a direction in life or help from an addiction. They offer employment services, a place to sleep, food, and the tools to help men become self sufficient and how to live and survive by supporting yourself and helping others.

Met a guy at the Alano club who was turned away because x, y and z. All of which were poor reasons and damaging to hear for anyone let alone a person at rock bottom. What kind of rehab expects model citizens when they arrive? Don't you dare say you teach the word of the Lord! From what I heard I wouldn't let you watch my dog. Shame on you.

In my time here as a client & resident, my observation was that Guiding Light is a well balanced and strong program in terms of holistic care. Management is continually engaged in finding ways to improve program offerings. I believe the organization strives to strike a healthy balance between offering what's best for individual clients as well as being protective of the organization as a whole. Despite having had a very hurtful and personally painful excommunication from this ministry/community --to be fair -- it's probably one of the best, if not thee best, men's rehabilitational programs in Michigan (and beyond). In hindsight, my personal grievances stemmed from my own perception of being rail-roaded by a minority of "residents turned staff" and subsequent misrepresentation regarding how I was behaving as a resident in the sober living commune (Ironhouse). Speaking as a sober person with more experience in this venue than I care to admit... I would certainly recommend Guiding Light to anyone suffering with addiction and substance abuse issues.

yeh I had a really good employee who worked for me for over 30 years named randy Williams he was down on his luck and a real good guy his aunt and uncle who are business owners who have donated like me to guiding light were upset to find out that the staff kicked him out after they made him work all day apparently he asked a guy named brian if he could look for work and brian kicked him out on the street and was laughing at him what makes this so horrible is randy is trying to raise money for a music school for kids and used to give bicycles away to them probably a 100 in his life that's just who he is its unfortunate that some people like brian forget where they come from and don't deserve to be in a position of authority I will visit soon and talk to some one with integrity thank you
