I came here twice while visiting Austin for the first time. The first time I sat outside & I had the most fresh chips, salsa & queso. The server was running around like a mad man, and really could ve used some help. The chips were hot and absolutely amazing, which set the bar for my second visit. Sadly, the chips were almost stale tasting but nonetheless I enjoyed my black bean soup. Parking can be tricky as South Congress is always booming. There is a parking garage around back that validates 2 hours with your parking stub. There is so much to walk around & see!

Really bad food. The salsa roja is great, but overall " al pastor" tacos are a shame. Tamales are half way decent. Drinks are, well...not good!
But great patio, great atmosphere, great music!!

My family and I were seated and taken care of quickly. I had the spinach and cheese enchiladas, it was tastey, especially the rice (light and flavorful). My kids had soft steak tacos, they didn't like the taste of the steak and I have to agree.

We were sat next to the bar where patrons were bumping into us and talking excessively loud. Asked the hostess to move is and were told that we would have to go to the back of the line after having been seated. We will never be back.

I guess the pandemic is really affecting restaurants. We had a terrible experience at lunch. Very busy but slow and non-responsive service. Food was below average this visit and that is unfortunate. Margarita was so bad we did not order a second drink, and I usually love the margs at Guero s. Sad to see places like this with terrible management to overcome issues like today. Either they were short staffed or trying to operate more profitable with smaller staff. I won t give up on them but certainly won t be back in a long time. They need to hire and train staff better.

Wandering on South Congress, we stumbled upon this awesome place. The decor was real funky and cool. The waitress Jess was super friendly and nice. She was nice enough to recommend a few spots for us to check out in the city. The salsa and chips were fantastic. The fajitas were also outstanding.

Absurdly overpriced, overhyped and sadly, very average, Mexican food. Chips weren't fresh, they tasted like some lame version of Tostitos... Salsa was ok, at best. They do have a very nice staff, but I won't be back, unless they change up some serious stuff. That's big "nope," from this guy.

Long time customer and it's usually great, but today my friend and I waited a full hour for our food to arrive. Looked about 25% occupancy. Will chalk it up to covid and them not used to it, but seemed strange that it took that long. Just a couple tacos. But they have been great for many years, so don't want to slam them.

Super friendly staff, wonder deco, good parking (there is a garage in the back and they validate parking). Food is a little under-seasoned, read bland. If you don't like salty or spicy food, you can find something you'll like here. I wanted a bit more depth of flavors, but I would totally go back.

Top notch, freshly prepared Mexican food. Haven't been here in a few years, but this place, with a fun, casual atmosphere, in the heart of bustling So-Co (South Congress) is a true Austin landmark.

We had a light dinner, relatively early and were seated immediately. We each had a shrimp taco and shared a spinach salad. The shrimp were exceptionally tasty, the marinate must have given them the flavor. The spinach salad had really great mushrooms and bacon in it and was just perfect.

Portions were large enough to fill us both up. My ice tea and my partners' margarita were really good too.

We spend an hour or two afterwards listening to a great band, "Tex Thomas and The Danglin Wranglers", in the Oak Grove outside. Although it was a roasting Austin Summer evening, the misters helped keep us comfortable with their light spray.

Highly recommend this excellent restaurant.

although we only went for a drink, the bartender helped us out right away we had Paloma, which was so delicious! They offer chips and salsas as well at the bar area. Even after closing out the tap they continued to asked if we are okay, the staff was very friendly. Even though we wanted to bring back a souvenir koozie the bartender went out of his to double check if they had any in stock, unfortunately they were out, but it gives us an excuse to come back, the smell of the food was amazing so we gotta try it next time in town.

Terrible taco salad. Chicken was dry, and no flavor. I added salt and pico de gallen just to get some kind of flavor. Margarita tasted like water and it was so small. Chis and salsa was good. Service was good. I won't come back, though.

Cute place. Had high hopes for great food and margarita. All was awful. Food was very simply plated, quesadillas were very little plain mush chicken and a little cheese on a warm but not grilled tortilla, nothing to it. Didn't even come with sour cream or guacamole. Margarita was like drinking watered down lemonade. My friends fajita salad was awful. Couldn't even chew the meat it was so tough. Very disappointing!

Separate vegan/gluten free menu. Unfortunately, my enchiladas had a couple pieces of chicken in it - mentioned it to the server and my meal was refunded. Been here a couple times and this only happened on one occasion

Good atmosphere and good margaritas, but there's no point in waiting 45 min for tacos that are far inferior to those I get from my local food truck. Tacos al Pastor featured pineapple out of a can and the fish taco tasted old and fishy. Not really tolerable in a city saturated with Tex-Mex hot-spots.

Nice place to go on a date or out with friends for drinks. Really cute decor. My favorite thing to eat was the shrimp enchiladas with mole sauce. The mole sauce is as good as the best I had which was made by a chef in LA, Mike Olmeda I think was his name. I've searched without success for 25 years until I ordered it at Gueros. I cried, That's it! Oh lordy the flavor, so good. Their steak tacos or shrimp tacos with mushrooms and tomatilos are also order worthy. They have a salsa bar with good variety and the marinated onions are tasty. Outdoor stage with bands in good weather with trees, benches, and an outdoor bar.

Fast service, comfortable seating, fresh fresh food! The tamale plate is Huge and perfect for sharing. I could only eat half the plate. Delicious fresh salsas and pico de Gallo. Great views for dining inside and out.

Great restaurant that is also an Austin classic. They give you great portions for what you order and it's really good food. The atmosphere is fun and active. It can be a little loud and hard to carry on a conversation there though. Highly recommend their enchiladas and if course their tacos!

Once we got seated we had a great dinner. I tried to finish off the burrito; but, it was too large. Really tasty. Though, they should put the rice IN the burrito, instead of just under it on the plate.

Drink selections were real nice as well. Definitely a good place to visit. Just hold your nose as you wade through the horrid stench of cigarettes out front.

Food was not what we expected. Fast service but quality of food was poor, beans were hard, fish tacos had no flavor, chicken chalupas tasted like added liquid smoke, red salsa was only good one.

Ok

Excellent service, the waitress was very friendly, and the food was FABULOUS. We got cheese dip and took full advantage of the little salsa bar they offer. I also had the fish tacos with rice and beans. For a drink I had the strawberry house margarita -- also excellent.

Everything was fresh and delicious! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a reasonably priced tex mex dinner!

Everything needed Salt and the bloody Mary was all pepper and not enough other flavors. The rice wasn't authentic Spanish rice and the food was really expensive but on par for fancy Austin food. It was crowded on a Saturday afternoon but we were seated in just a few minutes and had prompt table service. Food tasted okay. Not as good as a hole in the wall Mexican place would have been but good enough if you want tacos and are on South Congress.
