It's never easy to say good-bye to a member of your family. The staff at Green Bay Animal Emergency Center took good care of my wife, our daughter, and our daughter's cat until I arrived. I can't thank the staff enough for helping the three of them through a difficult time.

Came in at 2am with a dog that ate chicken a couple days beforehand. Got xrays and information very quickly and were able to make a choice about what we wanted to do. Cooter is feeling much better now.

Very nice and caring people that work there! The dr.s and staff are great from the minute you walk in the door. They treat your four legged child with great care and sympathy. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has an emergency!

took my baby bunny here because he was attacked by a cat. between the visit, the euthanasia, cremation, etc. my total was over $200. so it can be pricey depending on what you choose to do but the staff were extremely nice, gave me privacy, explained things thoroughly, and offered codolensces many times. I would definitely recommend them.

Brought my 18 year old cat in last year as she was peeing blood. Spent three hours there and they didn't do squat. My cat had kidney disease and was very dehydrated. They couldn't even rehydrate her or give her pain meds. Tried to bring my dog in a week and a half ago. Was told to leave her there for 8 hours. I knew from past experience they were going to put her in a cage and abandon her.
My suggestion to others who have had bad experiences.. report them to the proper governing veterinary board. They won't make changes for the better unless they are ordered to do so.

Don't ever believe the center actually triages sit...

Don't ever believe the center actually triages situations well, eventhough they go through the motions. And don't ever believe that if your pet is referred from Green Bay to Appleton, you'll be considered more urgent for admission and evaluation, despite being told that the center would be ready and waiting for your pet. Also, don't ever believe, if you are transferred to Appleton for better diagnostic imaging, that your pet will receive that level of diagnostics, because emergency arriving pets are put into available open slots, if there are any, within already scheduled and follow up appointments, not on an emergency basis. Just saying, despite an increased work of breathing (rate and retracting), BUN well above 250, inability to eat or drink, with a history of chronic kidney disease, pancreatitis, and seizures, rather than offer euthanizing, I was sent to Appleton for diagnostics, with minimal diagnostics, a painful overnight stay, overly sensitive vets, who needed to over explain and then say "but you can choose to euthanize anytime". After an overnight stay, with no previous mention of euthanizing, no other family with my pet and me, because we are now out of town, I decided to drive my very symptomatic sick pet home, even on 10+ prescribed medications, to bring to our primary care vet for euthanasia. In my mind, she suffered an extra three days and nights because of their lack of compassion for our pet and us. So dissappointed.

I brought in my cat on a Saturday as she had start...

I brought in my cat on a Saturday as she had started to vomit bile, was lethargic and wouldn t eat or drink. After dropping her off we had to wait over 2 hours for the vet to call saying the exam didn t show anything and they wanted to run some tests (xrays and labs). They showed some abnormalities but nothing specific so they decided to keep her overnight to give her fluids and repeat xrays at 10pm and we were told we would get an update at that time. I didn t receive a call until 2:30am with an update which was that nothing really changed, the doctor apologized for the late call and said they were very busy. I was called again in the morning with the repeat labs looking better they said my cat was more growly which was taken as a good sign as she was lethargic before that. They said she still was not eating or drinking but thought perhaps this was due to the environment. It was also pointed out they were very busy and they thought that since I was a nurse that it may be better to take her home to see if she would eat and drink there and they would have me come in and teach me how to give subcutaneous fluids in case she still wasn t interested in eating and would give me something to ease pain and nausea for her. We set a time for pick up. When I arrived it took me several attempts to get ahold of a staff member ( during the entire stay it was difficult to get through on the lines because everyone kept saying they were so busy). The staff were rude, I understand social distancing, but I wore a mask, and washed my hands and they still would not look you in the eyes and acted like I was a pariah. When I told them I was there to pick my cat up they told me to get back in my car, I explained that I was supposed to be taught to give fluids which they seemed to be caught off guard about even though the doctor and I discussed it. After quite some time and multiple I ll be right with you s the staff at the desk told me they would email me a video of how to give fluids as they do that all the time. I provided my email. Then they asked me to return to my car to call in for discharge instructions. It took over a 1/2 hour to finally get through on the phone lines, the parking lot was clearing out. When I finally got a person, not just the recording, I was told they were very busy and that they would have someone call me with instructions. I was finally contacted and given instructions, I was told my cat would be brought out shortly. The instructions were brought out right away but not my cat, I waited over an hour for her to come out. In the meantime several other pets went in and again I was treated as a pariah for waiting in the doorway for my cat whom I was told would be out shortly. I had several staff ask what I needed and when I told them they said they would have her out shortly. Finally she was brought out and placed in her carrier, she seemed doped up but she had been given gabapentin so I thought this was in part due to that. She also had wet vomit caked on her chest and chin but again I figured it was due to being frighted and on meds. I got her in the car and she was growly but it was more like moaning. I drove her home which is 45 minutes away, when we got home she finally crawled out of her carrier, her abdomen was distended and rigid, she was drooling profusely and was very skittish and kept hiding in dark areas. I finally picked her up and from which she moaned quite a bit and put her on her favorite chair and blanket hoping maybe the meds would wear off and she would be more normal. She died within 3 hours of getting home. She was only 2. We did not try and even attempt to take her back as it was apparent they didn t have time for my girl. I m glad we didn t take her back or leave her there another night as she would have died in a cold lonely cage and probably would have been found dead hours later. At least I was there with her.I never received an email with the instructions for fluids and I never received a follow up call to see if she was doing ok. I m very disappointed with the referral center.

It is so nice that this is available in the middle of the night and on weekends. I've taken all of my pets here at one point or another for various illnesses. It is very pricey, but you're paying for emergency service... higher cost is to be expected. Recently had my male cat in for a urinary obstruction. Staff was caring, thorough and quick. They took great care of him, and after weeks of pain, he is finally back to his old self.

Within 10 hours of of bringing our pet in we were being harrassed with repeated telephone calls declaring they can no longer service our pet. The statement was from a Doctor at the center. So our pet went untreated from when they left the message til we got back in touch with them four hours later. Very untrusting and fearful doctor on staff. Be careful!

This is a very important facility. The only place to take pets after hours. They have a great deal of experience in end of life of a pet. Sadly I had to have my old dog put down, but they allow you to hold them until you are ready to say goodbye. And when your dog tells you it is time, and you will know, they are the perfect place to do that.

The facility was super even during the safe distancing. We felt in touch and were kept updated in timely fashion. The exam, evaluation, tests and options were quick. The vet explained everything to us with care and respect. She was able to offer a few options and the risks/benefits that go along with each. We made a decision and she supported it and offered options for comfort Care. Wonderful experience!

We have had to use the Animal Referral Center twice for emergencies with our dogs. Both times they answered the phone right away, are kind, helpful, and explain everything, and both times we feel our dogs got the care they needed. Is it expensive? Of course it is, but so is our healthcare. I don't regret going there at all. Our dogs probably would have died if they weren't open 24 hours.

When an accident happens and we need emergency care for our dogs this is the place we rely on. Seriously great people who do their jobs well and kept us informed every step of the way. Our husky and lab have both been here, we drive over an hour to get here because i trust them to do whats right.

This facility is very clean and professional, but that is where is stops. The doctor is all about running every test, and following their care program, at whatever cost. If you do not support their plan, we found them to be unfriendly, and not easy to deal with. We felt like they were more about the money, not the health of the pet.

My wife and I took our cat Nala to the center earl...

My wife and I took our cat Nala to the center early in the week as she had labored breathing. Find out she has fluid in her chest cavity which was drained. By the weekend the fluid returned and her quality of life was not good so we made a hard decision to let her rest. She had a disease where lymphatic fluid would build up in the chest which would crush her lungs.
It was here where things went horribly wrong. First, they placed our Nala in a body bag before my wife had even left the room. So her last sight was of her in that bag. Horrific enough, we then paid for a private cremation so we'd get her remains.
It was over a week, no call from them, my wife calls and finds out there will be NO Remains. They cremated her within a group of animals. What bothers us first is how could that happen, why did they wait for us to call to find this out? I had to apologize to the person on the phone a few times as I know they were just the messenger. We left a voicemail for a manager, and nothing that evening. Message left at about 4:30pm on a Thursday. I call back the next day after 10am to find the manager still not in, and would be in soon, maybe 10:30am. As of this writing over 2 hours later, we still have not heard back from anyone about this mess.
I did learn that they have been sold to a company called Blue Pearl out of Florida, and was able to call them and left a message with them as well. They may have caring vets, but this lack of compassion and follow through just throws up so many red flags in my mind, which will not put here.
I hope no one else has to go through this and personally in future we will look for someone else to handle the care of our deceased fur friends. Our cats are our kids and to me, well I'll stop here and not go further. I'll just say take this in mind for future.
UPDATE: Did hear from them and they are refunding costs involved. Also seems a "talk" will happen with staff as several layers of double checks ignored. Key is I pointed to them some suggestions to avoid things like this from happening again and seemed open to those ideas. Even one of bring water to people in hot cars for long periods. Still not thrilled but this helped to resolve issue. I'd still be careful to verify things but hopefully they have learned from our situation.

Brought my dog in this week because she got into rat poison. This clinic gave me a number to call to make a case and get the poison info. After I paid the $75 fee to do that I had to call back the clinic. Once done the clinic tells me all they can do is induce vomiting (super easy) and give her vitamin k tablets (cheap). With that done they charged me $272 on top of the $75 so $347 total for less than a hour of their time. Extremely crazy prices for little time or effort.

Had to take my cat late one saturday night cause he was straining to urinate. They took excellent care of him and sent him home unblocked and with meds. The prices weren't too bad considering it was an emergency and, actually, the price would have doubled with his normal vet. They took great care of both myself and my cat and actually saved his life that night. They also did their best to give me options and work within my price range. The place was also very clean.

Twice in the last couple months we have had some scary health scares with a new kitty and a new puppy in my family. Both times the staff member who answered the phone , listened to our concern, took the time to completely answer all of our questions and assure us that we were not experiencing an emergency with our new pets. One of the times they took time to review a video of the kitten and helped us relax and not panic. They could easily say bring the pet in but they helped us decipher whether it was an emergency or not. I appreciate how busy they are, especially on weekends and evenings and they still took the time to put our minds at ease. Very competent staff and very kind and compassionate.

Had to bring my 6 year old cat in after he ingested a massive amount of rat poison left by the previous owner of the home we had just moved into. They labored day and night to save my little guy but with rat poison the possibility was one in a million. They made my little guy comfortable for his last few hours and kept me in the loop the entire time. Their staff was honest and up front, caring, and compassionate. Both Doctors that worked on my cat were honest with the odds but still hopeful. They recommended I call the Animal Poison Control vs. them because it would be cheaper if I did it. They also did not do any procedures or use any medicines just to hike up the price. I highly recommend.

Highly recommended I have had to use them 2 times with 2 different dogs in the last year. One which was 5/16/19 was because my great dane was stung by something and was having a severe allergic reaction. the staff took right to her and administered medication and monitoring. I can't say enough about how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is. they're quick to help and not a very long wait typically considering this is an emergency Vet. I highly recommend to save they're phone number to have on hand just in case.

I went into the Emergency vet on a Saturday afternoon and my poor puppy got diagnosed with Parvo... The staff here at GBAE was extremely helpful in educating me about what I could do to help save my pup and thanks to them he made a full recovery and is back to beign a completely healthy puppy. The service I received here was wonderful.

Would give them zero stars if I could! We took our 4 week old Pekingese pup in because it was the weekend, and our vet wasn t available. Two days earlier this pup stared loosing weight and crying took him to our vet, found out his mother wasn t producing enough milk for all the pups and he had filled up on air. Sent him home with formula and antibiotics. When we took him in here on the weekend he was having trouble breathing, didn t want to eat, had mild abdominal discomfort, and hadn t had a bowel movement in 2 days. They put him in an oxygen room, and said he was resting much better. I wanted him to have some IV fluids or something since he was also not really wanting to eat and he had some abdominal discomfort. They kept him overnight saying he would get IV fluids. When they called in the morning. They had done nothing basically except let him sleep in the oxygen, and low and behold nothing had changed with his condition! So I took home our pup in the same condition we brought him in, they gave us another box of the same antibiotics for him. After I did some of my own research the next day I found he was having a reaction to the antibiotics! Labored breathing, lethargy, loss of appetite, and abdominal discomfort were all symptoms or side effects of this antibiotic! Not only did they NOT catch this they sent us home with more of it! And charged me over a $1000.00 for spending the night in Oxygen. I would never take another one of my animals there period!

Went and took forever to be seen by a doctor when there was only 1 other person there, doctor took a test and flat out told me she didnt know what was wrong and wanted me to get slides sent out and bloodwork done because she though my dog could have the fast acting cancer, we went to bring her to our vet on Tuesday(monday was veterans day) and they retook a sample and it was just a salivary gland. Really feel like we were just being pushed to spend money we didnt need to, and that she really wasnt trying to help us figure out what was wrong. Happy I went somewhere else instead of listened to her.

The doctors and assistants were very friendly, and compassionate for our boxer. We brought her in there after she collapsed. We found out she has a heart condition. And they did do a great job of taking care of her. However my issue is the cost! And they want you to pay upfront, which again not a huge deal. But our bill was less than what we paid and you dont get your money back for a couple WEEKS. No one said this as we handed over 1,500$. The cost is kinda high in my opinion. Its $125 just to walk in the door. But when your in an emergency situation, what else can you do.

Our dog was very sick and we waited for 3 hours which she was having breathing problems. They marked the wrong test that was sent to the lab which is causing a delay. The level of care and incomprehensible lack of professionalism I hope does not impact my dog's health or making her suffer. I would NEVER recommend taking your pet to this establishment. They should not be in business to practice medicine.

I brought in my dog the other day due to some bleeding on her paw. I wasn't sure how big the cut was, so I thought I would bring her in to make sure stitches were not necessary. Prior to bringing her in I put her paw in flour to stop the bleeding as much as possible. When I brought her to the ER, I was told that they would have to sedate her. I questioned the vet as that seemed WAY too extreme. I suggested restraining her and letting me go by her to hold her head. The vet flat out told me no. I came back to pick my dog up and all she had was a centimeter cut which they told me it was an inch. They didn't even do a good job cleaning the wound. I am very disappointed and not to mention the cost of the place for just a simple cut.

I'll give them credit for being a clean facility but that's about it. The staff was very robotic like and I kept getting looks from the front desk lady like i was out of place there because I wasn't rich or something. All they really care about is your money. I sat there for hours waiting and there were only two or three other people there, which means only one vet on staff at an emergency clinic and thats not good. I'm sure if they would have had to do any actual tests the prices would have skyrocketed. Where does all that money go anyway? Then they wouldn't even let me in the room while they did the exam. It took hours and hours while the cat just sat in a cage in the back and they charged so much just to check vitals? Who knows if they even examined my cat properly. I'm pretty sure my cat has an upper respiratory infection which they should have found out themselves her eyes were swollen and she was a bit wheezy and they just said that her vitals were okay. I wish I would have seen all the other reviews on here before because it was a complete waste of time and a waste of money.

We brought in my cat Whiskers after he wouldn't eat for two days straight and we found out he had kidney failure. They needed 1500 dollars and we only had 600 at the time and even with the promise of money in two days, they wanted the money upfront. We brought him home and it's only been a day. If he dies, I completely and wholly blame this center. I understand that everything is run by money, but if we could not access it until two days later I don't understand the problem of why they needed it up front. Also, who carries around 1500 dollars in their purse at 2 in the morning? Will NEVER come back here!

The worst experience at any veterinarian or emerge...

The worst experience at any veterinarian or emergency veterinarian office. I sat for an hour and a half waiting for my cat , age 17 with CKD, and complications. The veterinarian came in and we agreed on a course of action which involved giving my cat a sedative in order to draw blood. An hour later they still hadn t done anything. He was too stressed and hissing . Then I spoke with the veterinarian again, he stated a second sedative would be given and they would get his bloodwork, give him fluids and an antibiotic. Now three hours later they are taking care of emergencies that arrived hours after my cat. They said he needed a second sedative, well I would too ! When I got upset then went and say down, the receptionist discussed me with other patients who were paying and checking out. This is the most unprofessional, unreliable, and untruthful veterinarian practice I have encountered in 21 years of having pets. Not only was my cat suffering for three hours but they continued to lie to me about what they were Not doing. And the most important piece of information....my local vets have no difficulty drawing his blood.

once again GBAEC didn't help. I brought in my diabetic dog that had vomited and needed her insulin. She needed fluids and something to settle her tummy so she could keep her food down and get her insulin. I had verbal instructions from my regular vet for them. After 4 hours in their care they had still not started her IV fluids and died. She suffered brain damage from lack fluid. I have on other occasions have bad experiences but this time they didn't bother to even look at Sissy. The way thi place is run is horrible

This is just a business to them. They do not allow you in the room while they examine your pet and then come back to tell you all the scary possibilities it could be and try to get you to do many tests that probably are not necessary. The doctor and staff act like robots... I went in to get my cat fluids(for throwing up after eating grass and a suspected upset stomach) and they said he was acting too aggressive in the exam room so were not able to.. yet suggested many other testing.. my cat is not nor has ever been aggressive. It really makes me wonder and worry why they don't let you in the room!? I hope another emergency vet opens up because I would really try to avoid this place if possible.

I took my puppy here this morning for diarrhea and vomiting. She was still playful and in a good mood, but she is very tiny so I was worried about her being dehydrated. We were here about 2 hours, and it was fairly busy here. I didn t mind waiting though because the triage person came to our room very quickly, and I felt the longer we waited, it was because someone else had a pet that was more ill than mine. I was allowed to be in the room with my dog during her exam, but opted to leave when they gave her the shots, since I can t bear to watch anyone poke my puppy. The doctor was very nice and answered all my questions. All of the staff here was very nice. As I was walking my pup to go potty, I saw a dog being rushed in with a ball stuck in his throat. The staff jumped up when they saw the car pull up, and whisked the pup off immediately. I felt terrible for the owner and the dog. I was so relieved when we left to see the beautiful pup sitting in the waiting room with a big smile on his face, and a very relieved looking owner. I clearly wasn t the only one that had a good experience here today. Yes, it was expensive, but you are paying for emergency care and that unfortunately doesn t come cheap. My cost for the visit which included 2 shots to prevent the vomiting and dehydration, 2 cans of special food, and probiotics to bring home was approx. $240.00. I would take my pup back here again based on today s visit. I felt like the whole staff really cared about her.

The staff at Green Bay Animal Emergency Center were amazing! Unfortunately, we had to put our kitty to sleep but they were very helpful and kind during the process and very supportive of our decision. They took great care of us and made sure we knew we made the right decision. A few days after this event, we received a sympathy card in the mail from the Animal Emergency Center with a hand written note from the vet who helped us, as well as pictures with paw prints from our kitty. This meant the world to us & it was amazing that they took the time to do something like that for their customers. If we ever have an animal emergency again, I feel very confident about going to the Animal Emergency Center again, they were kind, compassionate, and know what they are doing.
