I brought out of town family here and today was not a great experience. Grease sandwhich, chicken tenders ordered from the kids menu loaded with black pepper, and the Monterey cristo was underdone and flabby. My fish was good and fries were cold. Took 20 minutes to get a beer.

Service metiocre. Server apologized at least 6 times. Had to ask someone else for our drinks after 20 minutes or more. They need to take lessons from Bonefish, several waiters work together to bring food/drinks out to you in a timely matter. Food was delicious!

The service made up for a rather lackluster attention to the food. My bleu cheese and bacon burger was delicious, but the salad was taken off my bill after I found something that appeared to be a root in the spinach. The manager and waitstaff were very gracious and handled the situation appropriately.

Service was terrible! We almost walked out. Waited at least 20 minutes to even place an order. Waitress never checked back to see if food was okay or to refill drinks. We even had to get our own "to go" containers and walk up to the desk to ask for our bill. Horrible experience!

Spotted a hole in the wall, or so we thought, and we did not leave disappointed! From the location, the atmosphere, to the food oh man the food! Even the picky kid left happy!! Can't wait to get the crew back to Great Northern

Happy hour menu rocks, bar selection is on point and the burgers here are hand ground and made with LOVE and you CAN taste it.
Beat buffalo or classic burger on this side of town to me. The rottiserie chicken is always fresh and despite perhaps building layout oddness interfering with private parties or seating.. the patio in the summer is dope for a group dinner or lunch or happy hour.

So fun for dinner. We had fish and chips and street tacos. Great Northern bought dessert. A lovely evening and we will always remember Great Northern's kindness

Complements on the corned beef hash! The ceder river chicken fried steak not so much. The breading separated from the meat and the hot oil made the inside of the steak a little too crispy

Atmosphere is nice, service was pretty good, portions were too large and food, like the crazy parking lot... not impressed. Not all new experiences are good experiences. We would not go back.

Wow. Total comfort food! You can only eat this stuff in Colorado. On a cold snowy day at the end of May. It is yummy. I had meatloaf with mashed potatoes! Not California fare. But it warmed my heart. Hubby and sis-in-law had fish and chips. Big. Beautiful. Lightly breaded cod. Delish. Go see for yourself. Plus, they have a lovely Happy Hour!

One of my local go-to restaurants. The menu doesn't change very often, but the food is consistently good and they offer a very generous happy hour. Additionally, the ambience is great and they have one of the best patios around!

Great service, corned beef hash was pretty light on everything, "corned beef" was mostly fat chunks or half meat half fat. So much grease they're was a pool. Meat was like jerky what little there was, veggies were overlooked. Beer was overpriced. I don't leave many negative reviews but when I can't leave the bathroom, and the only thing I've eaten in the last 24 hours was this slop... yeah, won't be recommending them anymore in DTC.

Slow delivery and unresponsive. Sent 2 burgers back and it took even longer. It was not very busy and a lot of staff just standing around. Probably won't go back to eat but maybe just for a few local beers.

I wouldn't call this restaurant bad, but it wasn't anything special unfortunately. The food seemed a little expensive for the quality. It was tasty but not a $13 dollar burger tasty. Great beer selection. Friendly waiters and waitresses, but they aren't quite at the top of their game. Overall, I'd go again for a couple of beers, but not if I'm looking for a meal.

Absolute garbage made reservations for Valentine's day show up 10 minutes before I reservation to let them know we are there about 30 minutes goes by before they ask who we are again after about 45 minutes we finally get seated, a waiter comes by not very fast with water asks us if there's anything else we want, didn't have two different beers on the drink menu, we place an order for an appetizer (nachos) come out fairly quick and are decent, then we place an order for a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and another order for a buffalo burger with pepper jack cheese bacon, avocado and chips on the side, it takes forever for food to come out when it does come out the chicken fried steak has Rice not mashed potatoes with it, the burger was ordered medium rare and comes out burnt with no pepper jack cheese and No bacon, I catch the server who then proceeds to go back to the kitchen and come back and says oh sorry it'll be awhile on the mashed potatoes takes the burger back and says it won't be very long finally with still no burger or mashed potatoes we say why don't you just put the burger in a box since you've already ruined the night, they still can't get the order right and put the burger in a to-go box with fries not chips like we originally ordered, the manager finally comes over and barely apologizes and takes the food items off of our check, thanks for ruining my Valentines dinner will never be going to this place again and I would NOT recommend it......

This place is centered in the heart of dtc with the most beautiful wood floors and gorgeous bar. BUT IS FILTHY! I live close by but never go in because every time I do, it is just too dirty for me to swallow any food. Floors are disgusting with food, dirt and trash on them and NO ONE bothers to clean them. Glass/windows have hand prints and the tables are nasty. The place smells like sewage and the bartender says it's the bathrooms. My God, the bathroom........don't go in! If the outside of the restaurant is that nasty, imagine the kitchen??? This place has so much potential but no one gives a damn to make it great by cleaning it.Too bad.

Not good. Food was mediocre at best. Peruvian chicken was reheated and way over cooked. Veg was cold to the touch.

Service was worse, though. There were so many plates and glasses left on the table that we had to stack them. Empty appetizer plates were on the table even after we paid our check.

Cold food due to waitress letting it sit. Might have been OK but will never know. The manager had to apologize to the booth behind us for something, but never bothered to come around to us. Have eaten here before and it was OK. Place was dirty looking - they were not busy but there was food on floor, tables not cleaned, etc. Oh well! won't be back.

I used to love this place, but our service this past weekend left a lot to be desired. Our waters were never refilled, drinks were forgotten, fries were served cold and our server was no where to be found. Thankfully, a manager stepped in to save the day towards the end. Incredibly attentive as our service should've been the whole night. Huge disappointment.

Great Northern is a comfortable restaurant with good food. They have a nice assortment of beers and wines. The service was attentive, without being bothersome. I ordered their flatiron steak, which was perfectly prepared, and very tender. The sides were all good.

Ambivalent about this place. The service and food vary. Always seem there is some aspect that is disappointing, but not to the point it ruins the entire experience. A must try. Atmosphere is very nice. Casual. Patio is fantastic.

I'd only come here for brunch since I live so close but this week I tried lunch for the first time. The place was packed at noon so I'm sure we would of had to wait a little bit if we didn't have a reservation. When I've come for brunch, I sometimes have to wait a few minutes (I go earlier, between 10:15-11) but never very long.

The decor is very old school type tavern with lots of wood accents. Service has always been on par. Even during a busy lunch time, our water glasses were always filled up.

Several people at the table got the BLTA. They didn't skimp on the bacon part. I can vouch for both lunch and brunch that their three pepper bacon is thick, crispy, and delicious! I got the pulled chicken sandwich, complete with aforementioned bacon, dill havarti, and sun dried tomato aioli. It was a little messy but very tasty. Their tavern chips were good and crispy, albeit a lot of crumbs instead of nice big pieces. One person got the Monte Cristo and raved about it. When I think Monte Cristo, I think greasy and deep fried. But this was basically a ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich on french toast with the preserves on the side.

For brunch, I usually opt for either the Eggs Benedict or corned beef hash. Sometimes the English muffin in the Benedict is a little tough, instead of a good crispy from being toasted or even a soft from being fresh. But once I smother everything in hollaindaise, I forget about that. It'll still remain one of my go-to brunch spots, especially considering their $3 mimosas.

2 stars because when it's good it's good but after the last few times we've been there it's been bad. I really wanted to like GN as it was great the first few times I went a few years ago but it has been a bad experience nearly every time since, we walked out one time after being seated for at least 25 minutes and not even offered a glass of water nevermind our order being taken. Went a few days ago to give the place a last chance, won't be back again, goodbye Great Northern.

DO NOT EAT HERE! This was an extremely disappointing experience at Great Northern tonight. We were seated right away and there were several empty tables when we arrived...However it took almost 2 hours to receive our food! On top of that, our entrees were COLD. My husband's steak came out room temperature, but the whipped sweet potatoes were ice cold like they had been served directly out of the refrigerator! We ate the food because we were STARVING by this time, and too hangry to chance waiting for new plates. I am angry we paid $30-40 per plate, given what was actually served. I also hope we don't get food poisoning from eating the seemingly uncooked potatoes. My husband asked me not to complain because he doesn't like to make a scene & didn't want us to have to stay there any longer than we already had. It is really a shame because we used to frequent this place when we lived in the area. Now we have moved back and were taking my in-laws out for a special dinner. I am embarrassed. I will certainly tell everyone it is not worth going here anymore! The waiter was nice, and I think he knew this was a bad situation because he twice tried to tell us that our plates would be ready soon. Then he came back and said that some big business party had gotten their orders in just before ours, and that was why we were having to wait forever. Sure enough, that big party was leaving by the time we were just getting served: 3 entrees and a salad. This is bad management and bad judgement. They don't care about small families going out to dinner! Go somewhere else for dinner!

We had dinner at Great Northern this evening and feel that the quality has gone down. It also appears
that they are short staffed. The waitress would disappear for periods of time before she came back to our table. The meat quality was not as good and the tortilla soup has lost some of its tastiness. They have put off replacing the cushions on the booths and do not seem to be putting money into the upkeep. It was a decent restaurant, but sadly it has lost that reputation.

Service is awesome even during the lunch rushes. Make a reservation for the rear booths, if you want to talk easily during lunch rush. Outside the rush entire place is good for conversation I have never had a dish that is less than a 7/10 for DTC Lunch several 10/10.
