Staff is always timely even when they have a full house. The bill won't shock you. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I loved to visit.

Most of my visits to this place have been wonderful, I really enjoy the food. The Prime Rib Au Jus is my standing favorite.
One time we were seated next to the bathrooms while they had a sewer backup and there was no force in the world that was going to get them to move us from that spot. I can't get my vendors to go back with me.
Easter brunch buffet was truly superb & Maurice was a delight!
The atmosphere is warm and appealing and the food was terrific.
Great place to visit for lunch. The food is excellent!
The wedge salad is spectacular. The soups are made from scratch which is a big deal for me. The BLT was also incredible. The homemade chips are questionable. The service was top notch. The bar is authentic. The $$ are moderate for Denver. Happy hour pricing I am told makes this place a good gathering place after work. Highly recommend.
I LOVE the happy hour! You can have a great - full dinner for three people for about $30 with drinks!
We made reservations weeks in advance and came to Great Northern for a party to celebrate a dear friend. They easily accommodated a group of 18 and even seemlessly handled the arrival of a few extra people. Emma was very helpful provided great customer service, handled the party like a pro. The food was good. The atmosphere was pleasant. I would visit again.
I was in town visiting, and was recommended this place by a local. after reading some of the reviews, I was wondering if we where making the right choice. The service was really good, liked the atmosphere there. The only thing is that it was freezing cold inside. I got the fish and chips, and that was really good. some of the best French fries I've had, and the fish was fresh and tasted good to.
The manager outright lied to my family about Denver health code law. My family and I brought our puppy to the restaurant to have lunch on the patio like we have done at least once a week for several months. A female manager approached us after being seated and said Denver health code laws no longer allow any animal that is not a service animal on the patio of any restaurant. An outright lie regarding Colorado law that can be fact checked with a simple google search. She said we could have lunch but that we would have to tie our 9 month old puppy outside of the patio on the street side. Alternatively we got up and left, because frankly Great Northern s food is not worth it. If you re in the area looking for food, Zanes is in the same parking lot, with amazing food, and great service.
Best rotisserie chicken. Friendly staff, nice looking restuarant in the Tech center. Definitely want to come back and try other menu items, great selection.
Didn't even eat there! Right when we got out of the car, weird church music playing outside and inside the restaurant. Got sat at a booth that was just wiped down, but was still wet. Sat down on a wet seat in the middle of winter. The booth seats were so broken in that when I was sitting in them the table was no joke at my chest. I could've just shoveled food directly to my mouth off the plate, haha. I'm a typical 5'4" girl. We just said forget it and left a minute after we sat down and went to Tavern down the street (which is excellent by the way!)
After trying to get into 4 other packed DTC bars at 5 PM on Friday to no avail, we rolled into the GN looking for a pair of bar stools. Success! Although they were busy, it was a great atmosphere with a pro staff and a lot of activity. Crowds in the dining area with many families and eclectic in the bar. Super happy hour. We'll go back.
Very nice place. I've been there twice, both times this week! I tried it for supper and it was amazing. The service was ok, the waitress didn't really check on us very often and she mumbled under her breath lol but the food was perfect. The manger came by to check on us and I always appreciate that. I went again today for brunch, mothers day. They were booked solid for reservations so I called. They never answered. I called three times. went anyway and was seated at the bar anyway. Prime rib, omelet station, biscuits and gravy with out pork!! I love this place. Everything has a very savory and unique taste. This isn't your usual place. Kind of pricey but you won't regret it.
Had both of my grandchildren's lunch for h.s. graduation there over the last few weeks. One two years ago. Always excellent!
Good traditional resturant. Classic America food with a more upscale tilt. Good for a business lunch or dinner.
Good menu and very nice atmosphere. Staff is very tentative and professional.
I was there with a group of 7 for with a company we work with. They refilled drinks for one and if the table but not the other. I asked for malt vinegar for my fish and chips and he "forgot ". After awhile a manger came over and refilled my ice tea. I asked her for vinegar and she did bring it quickly. Over priced for the service.
We have slowed the frequency by which we had regularly been there for lunch. You are always met by crumbled concrete stairs and entryway, followed by two planter bowls filled with cigarettes. Yesterday, we approached the entrance, to fing a multitude of Wendy's bags, cups, napkins and other trash. We told the hostess, suggeting that it was unappealing to see that as well as all of the cigarettes butts. After lunch, we exited only to find nothing had been picked up. Its too bad, because we like the people, the service, and the food.
We had wonderful service here and the atmosphere was great. I'm glad it's so close to where we live so we can come back easily.
Horribly average food and mediocre service too. I've never had a great meal here over the years
Went in last Friday with 3 good friends/work mates for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Our server Alyssa was a delight, very happy and accommodating of several special requests. The restaurant has a very inviting, friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
We started off with a basked of their house made potato chips. Thin, crispy with perfect amount of salt. I had the 1/2 roasted herb chicken with their sides of sauteed mushrooms and mashed potatoes and gravy. It was amazingly juicy and flavorful. The mushrooms were lovely including shitake as well several other mushroom, were sauteed in garlic and butter. The potatoes were a little chunky (which I like) with a very flavorful brown gravy.
My friends had the nachos, which were huge, the chicken pot pie made with rotisserie chicken which she loved and the last friend had pulled chicken sandwich she said she enjoyed very much.
Their menu offers a large variety to choose from. It was really hard for me to land on the chicken but I am very glad I did. I will definitely be back!
Pork belly appetizer was awesome. Chicken was great with impeccable service and good beer
Go to lunch there once a month. Love the smell of the place and love the food. Wish they would have a little bigger menu. Staff is always friendly.
Food was great but service not! They weren't busy but I had to wait for my silverware and water! No attention to detail.
We have made reservations at Great Northern in the past and it has been amazing! However, after this time we will not be going back. Upon sitting down, the waiter came over and started tell us all of the beer that they didn t have on draft after seeing our favorites were out we decided to go with a bottle of wine. The wine was not only expensive but also horrible. We had a party of 6 of after finishing the wine we decided to go with a different bottle and when we requested different glasses we were informed that they were out of wine glasses. When we ordered the waiter told us that they were not informed on how to use the restaurant week special that we came in for and we were told that 3 items on that menu that they were out of as well. When she brought us our food it all came at once (appetizer, salad and entree) and steak knifes didn t come as well. It was a horrible dining decision and we will not be back. Not only because of the service but also due to the decline of food quality.
Good food, little pricey, always leave smelling like I ve been at a camp cookout.
So so. Drink menu was extremely stale. Interior was pleasant as well as the decor. Seemed a little under staffed. I Wonder if the menu changes or just stays the same? Seems like a place that would be awesome with a little work.
AWFUL Experience! We came here for New Years eve, after about 15 minutes waiting for out waiter to come get our drink order, my boyfriend and I both ordered our food (mac and cheese and the goat cheese meatloaf). The waiter comes back and says they are out of mac and cheese. So we order something else. He comes back again and says they are also out of the meatloaf. Seriously? We then asked for a drink menu, the waiter says there are no more. So we had to use our phones to look at the drink menu on the site. After waiting almost 30 minutes for our drinks we asked the waiter where our drinks were, finally he brings them to us. We received no refills because the waiter took so long to check on us. After about an hour and 40 minutes we still didn't have our food (mind you it wasn't that busy). We saw our food in the kitchen waiting for the waiter for 20 minutes until he got it and brought it to us. My $30 halibut was cold. Didn't bother sending it back since it already took almost two hours to get hour food. I asked the waiter why everything was taking so long and he went on to tell us about all the management issues at the restaurant. So not professional. This experience was so awful I paid $80 for two people, I have had better service at fast food restaurants. Oh and our silverware was dirty as well. TERRIBLE!!!
i've been here twice for lunch, it's pricey but good. the beer selection, 'ain't all that' and in a town like Denver, could use some improvement.
Awesome!! By far the best restaurant in Denver and surrounding areas. My Mom and I go every time she visits from TX. Their turkey burgers are the best ever. And their staff is very friendly and all smiles.
Not a bad looking menu. My flat-iron steak was cooked perfectly. I hope to go back soon and try the meatloaf.
DO NOT GET THE BAKED MAC AND CHESSE!! It is covered in taco seasoning.
Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive. When it did, they mixed up our identical orders so that four people bit into burgers that were the wrong level of done. Just not a great experience overall.
Stopped by on a recent Wednesday night, and was disappointed. Our waiter was friendly, personable, but never really on top of his game. Waited long periods for drinks, refills, and to get his attention so we could pay and leave. The fried cheese curds appetizer was mediocre, but very greasy. To his credit, our waiter comped them after he asked how they were and we mentioned the greasiness. The mahi, mahi tacos were just ok, with the accompanying rice very clumpy and probably too old. The burger and fries were pretty good, but nothing special. For the expense, the dinner was sub par. May have just caught them on a bad night....
The French toast and bacon with creamy grits was a great combination. The atmosphere is relaxed and family oriented. Plenty of seating indoors and out. The cook is fabulous, the bartender makes outstanding drinks.
Great Atmosphere, great decor, Nachos were great and staff was friendly, surprisingly wasn't busy for happy hour which goes till 7pm.
The restaurant was nearly empty. My rotisserie chicken was cold. Obviously not taken right off the rotisserie.
The group I was with for the week planned a get together at this restaurant. I have dietary restrictions and called to see if they would be able to accomodate. I asked if the restaurant was able to accommodate a gluten free diner. She responded with, "No, we can't." I asked if they may carry salads that could be made gluten free. She said, "Let me look at the menu." Then, "No, we cant serve you" and hung up the phone. I appreciate a restaurant being honest if they can't provide a gluten free meal, but don't think she needed to be rude about it.
Food was delicious and local brew was great. However, I am giving low review because of local law enforcement. I travel to Denver once a year. This year was no exception. I recently got a ticket from a Red Light Camera in the area. This is for turning right on a red. For now on, I will no longer visit the area.
If Greenwood Village wants to run people off, then fine. I choose to take my business elsewhere.
Awesome menu. There is something for everyone on here. The patio seating is really nice too when the weather cooperates.
My boyfriend and I met my parents there and we were all impressed with our dinner tonight. Bummed to see so many bad reviews, because we genuinely had a great experience tonight. My dad was superrrr happy with his ribs, and the mac n cheese was ahhhh-mazing!
Delicious burger and beer. The atmosphere has an old style with great food and decent prices.
Had an excellent burger and fries, waiter was great... Will be back to try some other dishes.
The Great Northern is an Institution. I could eat here every day of the week, and don't get me started on the weekender! Try the everything! With extra Bacon!
Great Northern has been around for a while and for good reason, they provide great food with great service.
I've been here many times and have recently hosted a few group parties (40 plus attendees) here. Each time, the food has been great. For the larger groups, the service was outstanding and they catered to our needs.
It'd be tough to say my favorite meal as the food is so good, but I'll get the salmon or bison burger most often. They make their own potato chips which are better than most.
This place just gets to full. Parking is a pain. Food takes a long time. The salads are tiny. The place looks good and is popular but the overall experience is just meh.
Another boring ass bar in the DTC area, a total waste of space
Have never had a bad meal there. Prime rib is ridiculously good and they have a large selection of drinks. This was my go-to place when I lived in Denver and is my go-to when I visit. Service is friendly and not uppity. Fine dining but without the need to dress up. Probably not a place you'd show up I swear pants but I doubt they'd turn you away. But most of all the food. I've been there for lunch as well when I worked nearby and the salads are great too. Salmon, peruvian chicken. A place worth visiting over and over to try different dishes. Or show up in sweat pants and try them all in one night!
Great northern, you would be well loved in Boise. ;)
A little pricey, but good food and a big drink selection.
We were seated on the patio and had to ask for our waiter because there wasn't one anywhere to be found. We were told Mouryce would be waiting on us today. He was "blah" about serving us, and it took an upsettingly long time to recieve our drinks and then even longer to just get him to give us the check so we could leave because we had no idea where he was most of the time. I just expected the service to be better overall. So, this place only gets 2 stars from me, based on the lack of energy and attentiveness towards their guests
Love the retro old boys club feel! Popular, great service and fantastic food!
This place is OK. You can watch sports, you can get a beer, you can get some bar food. It's by no means bad, or a place to avoid, but they really offer nothing unique. Consider this a completely indifferent review :)
Delicious Food, Great Patio for late summer dining, fantastic Happy Hour and great service, we'll definitely be back!
Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices.our favorite item is the steak and eggs that used to be on the brunch menu. We didn't see it on the menu today but asked and they made it for us anyway. Delicious as always!
Delicious Food in an upscale tavern setting. Very comfortable. Great service!
It is not always fair to judge a place on one experience. However, the Friday - a naturally hectic, crazy time - night snapshot I experienced was less than spectacular.
The staff seemed stressed and stretched, yet, wanting to accommodate and please us. The food for our party of eight arrived in a reasonable time and was good for the price.
Like the place most bartenders are good. This one could not mix a cocktail.
Food is always very good, but the salmon is especially so. Caters to a bit of an older crowd, but check out the patio if you can for nice nights or brunch if the dark wood/upholstery is not the vibe you're looking for.
Very disappointing! While the food tasted fine our waitress was non-existanted to the point the restaurant lost at least $20 in beverage sales because she was not around to take our order. The kitchen manager/chef family was there and really was not good. One of my parties chair was bumped into numerous times because the kids could not sit in their seats and where running around the tables! Can not believe this is acceptable! I expected better and won't be back.
When ordering a large COBB salad to split with my wife, i asked for the bleu cheese to be on the side as she is allergic and i love the stuff. The cooks put the cheese in the salad On one side of the salad instead of a cup. Needless to say, 1 hour for a cobb salad from a restaurant 4 miles down the road, a $9 delivery fee, all for a salad I couldn't even share is definitely not worth getting another time. They claim their COBB salad comes with avocado but there was none in the salad again. This is my 3rd and final time ordering that salad from there with one or more ingredients missing. Yet I payed the full price. $75 disappointment I'd say. Also the size of the ranch cup is comically small for a large salad. And they refuse to give you a second cup. I hope no one else experiences such great disappointment when they are hungry.
Servers were great and efficient. It took awhile to get our order. Food was delicious. Some of the best calamari we have ever had! Expensive menu. Unusual foods. Great atmosphere. Woodsy and quiet. We will return on a weekday lunch. Maybe a bit more reasonable prices.
We had our rehearsal dinner in the private room in the back. The food and service were amazing! Definitely recommend it for a private event, or a great happy hour!
Service is always exceptional here. But the food is even better. A pastrami and egg burger? Yesss please!!! If you haven't been here, you are missing out.
More affordable than many eateries in the area. Parking OK. Also not as crowded as some nearby restaurants so easier to get a table. We've always had good food here and friendly service.
Good food and friendly service. Peruvian chicken is highly recommended
Classy, fine-dining American steakhouse. High quality food from appetizers to deserts. Somewhat pricier but you get what you pay for. Great entrees (steak, salmon) but also tasty burgers. You can NOT go wrong with the Great Northern.
Wonderfully attentive and friendly staff in an establishment that serves delicious regional dishes inspired by the history of the land.
I wasn't really impressed. I got the Goat Cheese Stuffed Meatloaf, it wasn't stuffed, the goat cheese was spread on about 1/3rd of the meat. All the sides were ok, for the price I find it to be underwhelming.
