Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Board Review

Would have been disappointed at the total lack of colour of the coral but doing the "snoober" dive, a cross between snorkeling and diving saved the day. Its a long boat ride just to see grey coral but the fish are gorgeous and the snoober experience made the difference between us returning disappointed and not being. Good decision to do it. The boat trip can be a bit rough so its a good idea to take sickness tablets before hand. The food on the trip we took was excellent.

Definitely a highlight. You do not have to dive, snorkeling is enough as it is not deep in many places. Swimming experience and some free diving make the whole thing a highlight that you can enjoy.
Tours from Cairns are easy to find and the service is top. Costs are not cheap, but the tours are also day trips and often equipment for hire is included in the price.

Great snorkeling. A bunch of different activities as well like scuba diving, glass bottom boats, helicopter riders. Was amazing. I recommend the sea ob your it was fantastic.

Absolutely 1st class i would recommend Reef Safari to anyone looking to visit the reef. Reef Safari have Excellent staff, caring, professional, polite and friendly, very knowledgable people. They are really good at what they do. They made us feel right at home all day long. Lunch was 1st class as was morning tea and afternoon tea. The reef is unbelievable with fish of all sorts. Had some very close up encounters with the local fish species and the reef life. I had the best time there. If you're looking for a real good snorkel or scuba dive then this is the place to go and Reef Safari is the company to go with do it, just do it. Hats off to the entire crew and staff of Reef Safari.

One of the great wonder's of this world, if you haven't been there and seen it put it on your bucket list and make sure you do see it, it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

It was too busy taking place, I was surprised and smiled, but I had a good time.

I still love it but I didn't see much fish like before. Probably this time I came in july. Last time I was in summer.

GBRMPA hired one of our boardrooms for a few days to complete team planning. There were people from both the Townsville and Cairns offices.
We have to congratulate the whole team on their professional and friendly manner. When they left, the room was left spotless. They had not only put used cups on the tray but wiped down tables and cleaned everything.
I guess when you learn to leave a site better than how you found it, it can carry over to the Boardroom as well.
The GBRMPA are always welcome to use our facilities in Townsville when they need additional space.

Rating the great barrier reef feels a bit redundant. However, yes, it was absolutely breathtaking. Take a scuba class first!

No many words can explain the beauty of the GBR. Must see!!!

Lots of different fish, both small and big ones. Lots of coral as well. A little disappointed by the number of bleached corals and the water visibility. I guess movies about the reef build too big of an expectation. Was hoping to see small sharks, octopuses, Nemo like fish, eels, sea turtles, but sadly saw non of those while snorkeling. I haven't been to any other reef location, so this might be one of the best, no way to tell.

World Class. Did not see any evidence of climate change

Stunningly beautiful. I will never forget the colour of the water here. Its just so so blue. We had the most amazing 7 nights on a hired catamaran swimming, snorkeling and kayaking every day. Whilst some of the coral has been bleached there is still plenty of unaffected coral to see. We saw so many turtles and swam amongst massive skools of fish. Just amazing....

Using the sailaway service to go to the marine Park was an incredible experience. The crew were extremely nice and very helpful. There were a lot of options as to what you could do, and after a long snorkelling trip there was a delicious buffet lunch and relaxation time. The only negative I would say is that the consierge/check-in desk person was extremely rude. Overall though the trip was incredible and would definately recommend the Sailaway service to anyone wanting to try it out!

We did a snorkeling day trip in the Great Barrier Reef. Unfortunately we were not that enthusiastic. The boat tour was pure mass processing and the reef was mostly dead. Unfortunately for the price it was not what we expected.

We were told by the tour operators that reefs are still colorful n intact but frankly none of this was true. The coral reef (hardy reef) is all bleached and you will hardly see 4-5 species of fishes. The reefs are definitely in a bad shape n for the money you spend it's not worth it.

The experience was good just the pantry was disappointing

Too many waves, little sun ... No doubt bad season. I preferred the Red Sea, Tahiti or the Ma dives

Don't go on windy days. Impossible to fight current.

Such a beautiful place to visit. To spend the day to fish to dive to just be blown away by the majesty of nature.
