We liked their easy solar solutions and applied for one of the free programs. We can t thank you enough for making solar possible for us at no cost. Solutions provided by Grasshopper include a post-installment monitoring phase and extended warranty. The engineering teams are highly professional and the customer service is one of the best in the region.

I am a freelance graphic designer and mostly work out of my home. Working off of different devices all day does take a lot of electricity to operate. To help cut costs and lower my utility bill, I started looking towards solar panels. I looked up Grasshopper Solar and liked what I saw! I called them and asked them if they would be able to help me out. After talking with their friendly customer service rep, I was ready to get my panels installed. The installation process was painless and quick. Couldn t recommend these guys more!

Grasshopper Solar installed panels on my roof in 2015 I needed to have the panels removed to reroof, the customer service person that spoke to me went above and beyond to help me with this, they are removing them on Wednesday April22 2020 and re installing them within 10 days very happy with Hina the customer representative got back to me so quickly she restored my faith in humanity thank you.

They were very professional. The job was done when scheduled without delay. We were very happy with the service

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, if you do do NOT DO SO WITHOUT HAVING A LAWYER LOOK OVER THE PAPERWORK WITH YOU! They came in to have a meeting with my parents and we told them that we would have to re-do the roof in a couple years. They said they would take the panels down and put them back up once the roof was done at no cost to us. They did not put in the contract and now they are charging us over $3,000 to take the panels down for us to redo the roof. Two more issues: in the winter the panels melt the snow and it slides off the roof and creates a very dangerous situation. Lastly the contracts are very long, 20 years, and if you want to sell the buyers must take over the panel contract. I would not have been so upset if they had taken over the cost of removing and putting back up the panels. It's about $3,000 which isn't a big deal for a big company especially when they told us it would not cost us anything. But this is a big cost for a family and it seems that as soon as you sign on the dotted line they do not care about you anymore and are happy to just use your roof for free.

It's even more upsetting to see a review where they have covered the cost of getting someone a new roof in order to be able to use it! So clearly they have the money for it not to be an issue for them. Lastly, cheques come to the house for them and they are making THOUSANDS!! of dollars. So $3,000 to use your roof in order to make way way more (millions) doesn't seem fair in hind sight. They could at least let it cover your own hydro use.

Seems to me after reading other reviews and speaking to people that you can negotiate with them and only agree if your own terms are written into the contract. Do yourself a favour if you are going to use them, make sure it's really worth it for you and put in your own conditions.

Updating many months later: I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and want to add that I feel it is inequitable to offer only $3,000 for the use of your roof for 20 years. In that time it's generating lots of money for them and possibly doing structural damage to your roof. Which if you have to replace, they won't even help you with taking it down.

This is the best Solar Panel Installation company I know In Canada, the solar panel installation is completely free. I am very satisfied with their initiatives.

Grasshopper Solar did have some growing pains in the beginning, but throughout unavoidable delays [such as the ice storm!], they were polite, helpful and quick to keep us informed and up to date. The panels were installed asap, we were hooked up to the grid and all has gone very well since. We paid absolutely nothing to have the panels installed, yet we receive cheques regularly. What an amazing idea for helping both the environment and our bank account!!

After calling a few solar companies I am pleased to have reached out to Grasshopper Solar.
My overall experience is nothing short of amazing from the first call to installation and I strongly recommend giving them a shot at earning your business!

Started talking to Grasshopper Solar in Feb 2017 about doing a project at our home through the government's microfit program. Was told everything was great and was on track and didn't hear from them for a few months. I started calling them about two months ago as I was worried that we would not get the project done in time. I was told everything was still fine and that they would get back to me soon. They never did and every time I called it was the same thing. Today, after I called them again, I was told that there wasn't enough time to get the project completed. I can now no longer get solar under the government's microfit program because of the complete incompetence of this company. There were nothing but mistakes (had to come back 3 different times to sign paperwork because
they kept doing it wrong for example), confusion and a lack of follow through. This company was recommended to me by a friend who knows the owner, I only hope he reads this and takes some corrective action. Avoid this company, I wouldn't trust them with anything- guess I'll just wait for Tesla Glass.

Grasshopper was able to deliver not only high quality service, but a very professional experience as well. I would recommend them with no hesitation!

When I first started with Grasshopper everything seemed fine and then delays started. Finally they had to finish the project or the OEB would have cancelled the project.

The panels were installed in the winter that was the coldest on record. The installed the panels on one of these cold snap days. When I got home the panels were on, but no power, no workers and a damaged eves trough. When I called Grasshopper they advised that no one from the local power company came back to hook up the power, so the rep from Grasshopper decided to leave. So, my pregnant wife, son and I had to find somewhere to stay. I had to figure out how to get the power back onto my house.

I will praise the lady who I was dealing with the following day regarding this issue. She was able to talk to her boss and remunerate me for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, she left the company shortly after that incident.

Two and a half years later the monitoring box stopped working. It took a month to get someone out to look at the box and tell me what I could have told them. It was broken. The technician couldn't give me warranty information or what to do. He said it is probably out of warranty and left after I asked him to stay.

It just seems to go on and on with this company. I do not know how they have stayed in business or how I have managed to get 90% of the poor performing employees working on my file/issues.

I think solar is a really good idea, and these guys come together to make it a reality. The biggest problem is that people aren't given realistic expectations. Not every home is going to have that perfect sunny roof. Those homes that do qualify get paid to put a system on their roof.

Glad to have gotten our free solar panels, and our $3000 for signing up! Installation was done in a day and they have come twice to check up on the panels. No complaints, thanks guys!

Grasshopper s acquisition and development team has a vast experience in identifying and evaluating renewable energy investment opportunities. As green investments gain their place on the financial market, Grasshopper is a company you should look at when considering investing.

They have been great to deal with right from the start. I went through the process with MicroFit application process and was left in the dark about the entire thing just to find out that my roof didn't meet their criteria...not sure why they didn't do a roof inspection first! No such issue with Grasshopper. Installation was seamless, technicians come by regularly to check that everything is in order with the system, and I receive my payments. I did have some issues in getting the engineer's report sent to the city so the building permit could be closed but it eventually got resolved. I recommend them to anyone thinking of going through solar route!

Amazing team that came and worked on our installations.

Sheduled hydro at 8:30 to cut power to house, grasshopper guy showed up at 11 did some work and just left, didn't say he was done and what to expect next. No idea what is supposed to happen next as there is a company event and no one to answer phones until 2:30pm. We are looking at a full day without power and no communication. No problem with the work done but huge issues with customer care and communication.

Overall my experience with Grasshopper Solar was extremely positive. I would refer them to anyone who asks.

I reported a roof leak after the recent heavy snow fall. Grasshopper promptly arranged for a third party inspection. They showed up on time, quickly identified several problems such as squirrel nest behind the solar panels, damaged roof vent and several worn out shingles. All these issues were resolved within 2 hours very efficiently and professionally. The next day, Grasshopper Client Services contacted me with a follow up. I was very happy with the handling of my concerns. It shows that this company really cares, looks after its customers and ensures top quality services.

In all honesty buying a house with grasshopper panels installed was one of the worst mistakes we could have done. They are horrific and customer service. They forget payments. They fire/staff leave so no consistency and for what?? 400 bucks rent a year. I am scared bc we need a new roof and so much red tape to go through. Honesty do not do it. Get a paper route you make more money lol

Panel installation were of poor quality and unprofessional done. Hire better contractors for this job or train your own installer and make sure to give excellent quality.

Have had panels installed for 2 years now and no issues with the performance. I did notice however, some squirrels hanging out under the panels and mentioned it to them . They said they will have a look and possible install some guards if required. No problems at all and the panels and systems are working reliably. Note I had the roof done prior to the panel installation and also paid more to have ice and water shield installed over the entire roof so any future re-installs will not likely result in any leaks. Grasshopper has been professional and easy to deal with in my experience. Recommended.

What do I expect when in need of a service? Professionals, economical, honest, punctual and soft spoken experts. If you expect the same, do not hesitate to call these guys.

Very happy with the results of my solar panels and most importantly its a lifesaver! The amount of money i've saved by installing my panels is crazy! The whole process was quick and smooth. There's no growth here. Advancement are non-existent, so employees are stuck in the same position and salary grade for the rest of their time here. You'll learn some things, but you can learn all of these while working in other companies anyway. There's too much work to because of the lack of competent employees.

I had them come in a quote to have solar panels installed under the government program in late 2017. Everything went well and I was all signed up under the program which was ending at the end of 2017. They came out and surveyed the roof and I received confirmation from the government that my account was setup. In December 2017 I received an email from the government saying my account was closed at "my" request. I followed up with Grasshopper but I was told all the engineers were busy but don't worry they are probably just reworking the plans and someone would call me back. It's now July 2018 and I have never heard back from Grasshopper at all. So I guess I missed out on the government program thanks to their lack of customer service. If this is the way they treat potential customers then I'm glad because I can't imagine how they behave once you have paid. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Grasshopper installed our panels in 2014, this year we are doing some renovations of the house and need to remove the panels during the project.
The operation team insist on asking our new roof drawings despite I only ask for the removal of it.
After providing the roof drawings, they said they are unable to accept the project without any reason.
Nightmare of having the panels, definitely wouldn t recommend anyone to install it if you would sell, move, or renovate the house.
I see tons of reviews showing you helped customers remove the panels for roof repair, but cannot remove mine just because my roof will change? How is that affect you to remove it?

I've been a customer for the past 5 years. When ever I've had an issue (and there weren't many) the gals like Tanya & Hina in the Client Care department are fantastic! Any checks or work that needs to be completed is done immediately - a great team!

what a great way to go green without the expense ~ friendly, polite customer service, the Solar Rep. was able to answer all our questions thoroughly and efficiently; we're so excited to be able to participate in this initiative!

Dont give this company your business. We signed up with them for the microfit government program. They basically found a way to rent our roof for free, have us pay for all maintenance, and get all the money for themselves. They underestimate the solar generation to scam both the government, and you, to make massive profits. They claimed our system would only generate about $2k a year, which turns out to be $166 and change a month. Turns out, they are making over that amount in a month in generation revenue. The cost of the panels and install was set at 16K, two years later I asked them how much to buyout, they said 60K please! They are scam artists and they legally get away with it.

VERY BAD SERVICE.. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR MONEY. TODAY is very heated day with weather network warning and these people didn't understand a thing. I called several times and no body cares. They kept the power off more than 8 hours where my elderly dad was home who can't even climb the stairs. DON'T EVER CHOOSE GRASSHOPPER.

I have been working here for 2 years and yet, I have never received any pay raise. We are overworked yet underpaid and the management clearly sees this but won't take action of they just don't care. It's exhausting and frustrating working for a company who doesn't see you value and just treat you as robot that they are paying to do jobs for them.

This is one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with!!! The panels have been on my roof for an entire year and still not connected to the grid! They are finally coming this Friday to connect and have informed me they will shut down my power for the entire day...and expect me to be home the whole time waiting for them to finish. Otherwise they will bill me $800. So I have to book a vacation day from work and sit inside a dark house without power on my day off. Unreal!!!!! Do not get sucked into their offers - they probably won't be in business for long anyway given the way they do business. Every time I contact them the person I spoke to last no longer works with the company. Wow!

Our solar cabling was damaged badly by squirrels, and our original solar provider never answered our calls. We heard about Grasshopper from our neighbourhood app. They came when promised, found the problem quickly and fixed our system! Great service. Friendly technicians.

Grasshopper solar has made our house completely unsellable. We have had 3 potential buyers back out because the banks will not approve a mortgage on a property with whatever security they put on the property. Had we known that would be the case upon signing we would never had signed the contract. I strongly urge anyone who considers grasshopper solar to think long and hard about whether there is any chance you will be moving at some point over the term of your contract and not sign with them.

I own a greenhouse company, and getting my panels is the greatest decision I have made. Many people have told me that having solar panels at my greenhouse would be great because of great it is for the environment, I am so glad I listened. I have done a lot of research on different companies, and Grasshopper Solar definitely stuck out to me and I am happy I went with them because they were fast and friendly.

Worst experience in my life has been buying a house with grasshopper solar already installed. The company has lost out lease when we purchased the house not once but three times. I have called so many times only to wait and never be called back. No one has answers and to be honest we make no money and have to pay for internet. If we could remove the panels I would to be honest it had deceased the resale value of our home. Do not waste your time as they just out right suck

They are a total scam. They don't even install the solar panels themselves but have a Third Party company do the installation. They never do pay the customer their share of the monthly generation credit. They have received thousands of dollars from the generation of electricity from the solar panels on my roof and I have seen nothing. E-mails to the company come back undeliverable & they never return a phone call. All telephone calls immediately go to voice mail. To give them 1 star is too mcuh

I don t usually take the time to post reviews but the experience I had with Grasshopper Solar was one of a kind. When first looking into getting solar panels for my home I didn t know anything about it or the process. The installation was quick. I m so happy with my decision to go with them. And that they are helping me do my part to help our planet. I would recommend them to anyone.

The amount of money they give you, doesn't even cover the increase of house insurance you need to have to accommodate the panels being on your home.
Poor customer service. I inquired in April 2017, then when i called again in September, it would take DAYS for them to call me back. I also told them repeatedly to call me at my home number & they kept on calling me at work along with calling me by the wrong name. I finally got tired and called another representative. Who was better. With one of these people, I was told at the end of everything we'd receive a TV. We're reluctantly getting the panels installed in a few weeks, and when mentioned the tv they said nope, nothing was said, there was no promotion November only December, then i was told there was no promotion for December as well. After reading further reviews, they've done this with other people. thankfully we're not dealing with a $3000 problem ...YET, by the sounds of it. How was i to know about the TV if i was told about it? We'll see how it goes once they're up there.
I've already dealt with their customer service. They were rude.

This company is horrible. The compensation they provide does not even begin to cover the costs that could arise. They offer $3,000 to lock you into a contract to use your roof for TWENTY YEARS. In addition there are lots of things they don't tell you about ex. they may need to cut open your walls to run wires, you will need to take a day off work to have their people come and do work. If issues come up with your home in those twenty years and you need to fix something in your roof they may not cover the cost of removal and re-installation (I think they cover one removal and installation for the course of the contract), so this would actually put you at a loss. Nevermind the headache of dealing with the company which has no desire to actually help/benefit home owners

It did take forever to get setup on the grid after my home was approved. I was paid the $ 3000.00 in a timely fashion.
Originially in the beginning of the process I was told I would see significant rewards, I would see quite a difference on my hydro bill, as yet I haven"t seen anything different. My understanding, I was to see how doing this would save me lots of money, like I said I'm not seeing anything that really benefits me.

This company is a bunch of scammers, their salesman told me that the cost of the installation was about $27,000,00 which would be paid out in about 15 to 20 years, if I did not pay the installation fee but I could buy it outright any time, after a year or so O decided to buy it back thinking that would be less than the original amount, instead they doubled the buyback amount to $55,000.00!!!!! As per some complicated formula in the fine print of the contract! I would like to seek legal advice as to how I can deal with these scammers, and prevent them from doing this to other innocent victims. Stay away from this terrible company

Great experience getting my panels! Grasshopper Solar is a great company to choose for both commercial and residential needs, and I sure got it for both. I get a lot of questions about my panels, for example if its worth it or not, and trust me it sure is!

Terrible service. I was very excited for the program. The sales person came to my home and immediately did not entertain questions. All he wanted was the sale. I asked several questions but the salesman deflected. I asked him to leave as he was trying to belittle me in my own home and while he was leaving he continued to badger me. Terrible sales man and if this is what the company supports then it s a terrible company.

Worst experience I have ever had when dealing with a company. 1.5 years into it and they are still causing problems. Just 3 months ago they contact my hydro company and had my person hydro bills forwarded to their office. They were then opening my mail and putting it back into a hand written envelop and mailed it back to me. I contacted them every time to have it corrected and nothing was done. I contact the hydro company myself as I began to get late changes because the bill was also showing up late because of this and had it corrected in minutes. Thank goodness my hydro company knows about Grasshopper and has had nothing but problems with them too. Overall don't sign with these guys, worst customer service and no support. I have emails with their customer service team talking about me behind my back not knowing I was still CC'd on the email trails, when confronted about it everyone went silent. No apology or anything from the senior team. DO NOT USE THEM AT ALL!

When they came to install the panels on the roof they put them in the wrong spot so when they moved them to the correct location they left the brackets in the roof. After three months of nagging them to remove what should ve never have been there in the first place they finally agreed to come get them and take them out. But the cost of repairing the shingles was left to me they would pay the labor costs but not the materials. Had they will come to this decision in August as a post to November it might ve been a lot easier to fix the roof would not recommend them for others try another company

When I was told a new roof would cost me $5706.50 I searched the internet for some way to get some of the money and I found Grasshopper Solar. I applied and was accepted and made an arrangement with the roofer. He put on the new roof ( 3 actually because there was one on the living room addition, the main roof and the garage) Then the men came from the company and put on the solar panels. they were polite and efficient and it seemed it was done in no time at all. I am happy with what was done and pleased that I have a new roof with no holes in it. I received all the $3000.00 I was promised and was able to give it to the roofer. There has been conversations about upgrading and a person came and did it. I don't know how efficient it has been but no one is complaining and I am helping the environment go GREEN!
